Stopped in last night and sat down to some delicious shrimp (coconut mushroom) Tom ko soup.. pork skewers and fried rice with pork --- all proteins were cooked beautifully; tender and delicious. I visited Vatsana for the first time tonight because the bar at O'Rourkes was crazy crowded, so I figured I'd try a new place. I arrived slightly more than an hour before closing, and I got the sense immediately that that was my mistake. When I asked for a table for one, the young man running the front of the house gave me the impression that he'd rather I hadn't come in. He seemed nervous or something, I'm not sure. But it gave me the sense that I was inconveniencing the whole place. Which made me feel nervous. After choosing a small 2 person table for myself I was given a menu and given a carafe of water with lemon. I thought this was a nice touch so I could refill my own glass as needed. Since it was kind of close to closing time I ordered everything at once and got things I could eat quickly in case they took a while to prepare. I ordered Vatsana fried rice, Thai steamed dumplings, and a Thai iced tea. The dumplings came first. They tasted just fine. Standard dumplings with a bit of crushed peanuts sprinkled on top. The plate was very artfully arranged with some kind of vegetable carved like a flower and the dumplings arranged like another flower, I think. But this artfulness meant that a few of the dumplings were stuck together and I had to tear the wrappers to separate them. Not the end of the world, but since I already felt like I wasn't supposed to be there, it annoyed me a tad. Thai tea came next. I wasn't asked how the dumplings were, but at least my plate was cleared. When I said thank you, he said no problem. This was a running theme for my entire visit. Every time I said thank you for anything, he said no problem. I'm sure it's just his way of speaking, but since I started my visit by feeling like I might just be a problem, I wish he had just said you're welcome instead. Thai tea was quite good. Just sweet enough. The portion seemed a little small, even though the glass was filled to the brim. But it tasted delicious and I had the water so I could stretch the tea for the rest of my meal. The rice came out quick. Once again, the portion seemed small for the price, but it's Pawtuxet so it is what it is. It was pretty oily compared to other Thai fried rice I've had from other places, but it tasted alright. I really liked the baby corn in it. The server never came back around to ask me if the rice came out ok. But the oiliness was not something I would have complained about, so once again not the end of the world. The decor is very nice, actually. I had a lot of time to look it over while I was waiting for the server to come around so I could ask for the check. I also finished almost all the lemon water so at least I was well hydrated by the time I left. There are little plants hanging from the ceiling that are very cute. Nice wall art too. It'd probably be a very cute date spot. But I wouldn't recommend going as a single person unless you are getting take out. When I got my receipt to sign, I told the server to have a good night. He said you too. I left an over 20% tip because that's just my way, but I felt like I shouldn't have. When I got up to leave, he didn't say to come again, or thanks for coming or anything. It wasn't even 8:30 yet by this time, so it's not like I had kept the place waiting to close or anything. There was even another table with more people who were there before I came in and were still ordering food. We were his only 2 tables. I'll stick to Green Basil in North Providence since they have better food in my opinion. Or Little Thai Corner in Warwick since their server is always extremely personable and makes me feel welcome, even within an hour and a half of closing. Crazy, I know. As for Vatsana, I won't be going back. Two stars since the food was ok and I got my fill of lemon water. read more

Vatsana's pad kee mao (drunken noodles) are unforgettable. I've been eating more plant based and even getting it with the tofu, y'all -- there was no compromise on the flavor profile. It's beautiful inside. I love all of the plants, the dim lights, the spaciousness. The staff is always so kind and on point. I've only been here once for one specific dish, which is is why I gave a 4 star. Friends and I arrived at 7pm on a Wednesday. There were only two other tables full of people. It's small but still very spacious. The restaurant is BYOB with a liquor store a few blocks down. Our server was very nice and gave great recommendations. We ordered fresh rolls for the table. Nice and fresh, they were tasty. I ordered the Katiew Nua, which is their version of Pho. I really liked it! I wasn't a big fan of the beef meatballs, but I prefer sliced meat in my pho. I would get this again! For dessert, we ordered Mango Sticky Rice. They only had enough for one serving. It was pleasantly sweet! We ordered take out, which was definitely the right choice. When I arrived to pick up my food, there were clearly some tables that were frustrated by their slow service. However, my pick up experience was very efficient. We were very pleased with our Pad Thai and other dishes. My only complaint was with the sushi rolls, they were a bit too fishy for my liking. Wow! This place is excellent! We didn't know what to order so we ordered a bunch of things. My husband got the eel negiri and Vatsana Roll and said he won't be able to order sushi anywhere else. We got spring rolls and crab Rangoon for apps. The crab rangoon was the best I've ever head-handmade and full of filling. We got the crispy duck, Chicken pad Thai, pineapple fried rice with Shrimp, and the Kana crispy pork. Everything was super fresh and flavorful. Everything we had was delicious. We started with the tuna guacamole; it was perfectly spiced. The Hama Hama was so fresh and really did mel in your mouth. The white tuna sashimi was so good, thinly sliced and delightful. My boyfriend loved his eel and avocado Maki and the Philly roll was on par. You certainly can't go wrong with $2.50 miso soup. We were sad that we had not been here before but happy that we finally found it now. It's only 3 miles away; we have been wanting to try a new sushi place for a while... we will no doubt be regulars. I love this spot in Pawtuxet Village. Almost never a wait, and whether you get the sushi/ sashimi/ nigiri from Sam the sushi magician, or one of the many Thai dishes, you won't be disappointed! And guess what? They don't have a liquor license so it's BYOB! stop in at Cork N Brew one block away to pick up your favorite beverage. On multiple occasions we've had the Chicken Satay, Thai Steamed Dumplings, Tom Ka soup, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, seaweed salad, sunomono salad, cajun tuna, and a variety of the curry dishes and the specialty sushi roles. I'm between a four and a five star rating. There's nothing to knock it back to four stars, just that unexplainable element that I would reconsider if I became a regular (I don't live in the village, but for village's sake I would consider it 5-star). Winning aspects? The food. The cost. The friendly staff. But especially the food! My friend and I got the Steamed Thai Dumplings as an appetizer, and they were amazing, topped with crispy garlic, so delicate and perfectly cooked. I got a six piece spicy tuna sushi roll, and I'd love to come back for more of the sushi. I think this place could give Haruki (on the East Side) a run for its money. Really good. For mains, my friend got the Pad Thai with chicken, and I got the yellow coconut curry with chicken. My friend is a pad Thai king and he said this is on par with one of his favorite places in Worcester (where he lives). I'm not an expert, but I thought it was perfect in flavor and texture, definitely a solid amount of food--which we finished, because we leave no noodle behind. Yellow curry was our waitress's choice and I was a fan. I was leery of having pineapple in it, but it actually countered some of the spice and I thought it worked well. Dessert: honey fried bananas a la mode. Maybe my favorite part of the night. We didn't realize it was byob, but now I know and I'll definitely be back! read more

This is a great restaurant in the Pawtuxet Village with excellent food and great service. The decor is serene and cozy. It's BYOB (you even get a little discount in the liquor store next door if you tell them you're eating here)and they also have yummy mocktails. Prices are a little higher than average for Thai food in the area but the quality is better than average as well. I hope this eatery acquires a great group of returning customers because this has the potential to be one of those reliable neighborhood places to have a great dinner with family and friends. read more

This restaurant is a gift to this village. The food is some of the best I have ever had - always fresh and always prepared beautifully! The prices are actually too low for such beautiful food!!! And I mean that - very reasonably priced. Dining in is so much fun - wonderful staff. I also have take out from here every Monday - most other restaurants are closed on Monday. My friends and I always look forward to Monday night! The sushi is a Dream. I have never had a disappointing meal or service. Didn't bother me any though. Here's what we ordered: Thai dumplings Papaya salad Tuna guac 1 specialty roll Golden bags Nothing blew me away here. The Thai dumplings and the golden bags were the best on the menu. I made the mistake of ordering the papaya salad spicy- I've ordered this at probably two dozen Thai places and this was by far the spiciest and bordered inedible. The tuna guac was pretty good, but thought the edition of cool ranch Doritos was weird. The specialty roll (I forget the name) was deep fried and had very litttle fish in it. The service was really top notch. Always refills on water and very attentive to our needs. I would come back for the dumplings and probably order a basic roll instead next time. read more

I believe they're closed on Tuesday's, which I like better than Monday's....always seem to be eating out on Monday's. Their Pad Thai is one of the best I've had. I cam here for the first time to have lunch with a friend on a random Friday. I liked everything about them from the moment I walked in. The hostess greeted us and asked what our preference was for seating and was quickly accommodating. Our waitress was patient as I am unfamiliar with Thai food. I settle on the pad Thai with tofu and was surprised with how amazing it was. I may be dreaming about it in the near future. It was a great portion and I ended up taking half of it home. Unfortunately it was so good my toddler ended up eating it that night leaving very little for mommy to have a round two. The vibe of the place was great as well. My friend and I had a lot of catching up to do and we ended up hanging out for about two and a half hours. The staff was great with leaving us be and not trying to clean up our table around us or grab the check before we had left. Their menu prices are incorrect; they have increased. However, they don't tell you this until you question the amount of your bill! The waiter could easily let customers know this before taking your order, or they could put a label on their menus indicating price increases and instructing diners to ask the waiter about them. Isn't it in violation of some law to mislead customers as to prices? Secondly, the spring rolls I ordered were a step away from being burned. read more
