Coffee was good. The breakfast? Just ok. I ordered the quiche of the day and it was just passable. I'm gurssing that it was a pre made, manufactured quiche. Served with fresh fruit which was a nice addition, but I'm still not satisfied paying 7.50 for this meal. The mill yard ambience is nice, and the place has many more seats than customers at mid-morning, making it a perfect place to read or get some work done. We went here to check out their food when we were considering hiring their catering company, Tidewater Catering, for our wedding, and after one bite we knew they were the one. The food is amazing and I love the variety. Their table number system is cute and it works! The atmosphere is also super city-chic and a little rustic. When I go back to school in the fall I am going to stop in for a bite whenever I can. Great options for vegetarians and vegans, too! Waterworks Cafe is a really nice breakfast or lunch option if you're working or visiting the Millyard District. The menu offers plenty of options, from soups to salads to sandwiches along with a variety of baked items. The espresso drinks and teas were also very good and not overly expensive. Locations good, easy parking. Staff was super nice and friendly. We got a couple breakfasts. One vegetarian omelet and one biscuits and gravy. Food was good except the potatoes. Some were undercooked and some were burnt and really hard to eat. I liked that they left the skin on them but slicing them like thick chips didn't work. I'd consider a different option. Overall, I really liked the atmosphere and food. The biscuits were buttery delicious and the gravy was excellent. I also asked for my eggs to be poached and it was done perfectly. This used to be my favorite place in manchester for breakfast, just six months ago. They slowly removed every item i loved from the menu. I also loved this place because I thought it was fresh and they offered unique flavors for breakfast. Now its average with unexciting and plain plain menu options, like eggs and bacon. Just go to a diner... Items i loved that are gone: Scalloped golden breakfast potatoes seasoned with herbs (replaced with fried potato chunks w/ season salt), north country smokehouse sausage, veggie omelet with asparagus, avocado and tomato. There was no vegetable replacement, just a reduction. They have overnight french toast, which is a disappointment in texture and flavor. My guess is they make a big batch and freeze it. The sweet potato hash is ok, its quite oily however. Two stars for potential. This place used to be great. read more

My wife and I had a fantastic start to our Saturday morning with a visit to this place. We both got the California Breakfast Sandwich and some coffee. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The service was also top notch. It's a little hard to find on the first trip. We only realized after we walked through the whole mill building that they have their own entrance in the back, so we noted that for next time. LOVE this place. This is my go-to place in Manchester for a nice, relaxing lunch with a friend. It's definitely packed weekdays around lunchtime but on the weekends, it's very quiet. The food and menu is great. I once had a pear, fig and prosciutto panini here that was out of this world. I came here with a coworker and it's just down the street. I looked at the menu before I went and you can find out what their specials are that day on FB. I got the corn chowder and a half cesar salad sandwich and it was delicious. The place was bigger than I thought it would be inside. It is in the mill buildings and was redone nicely. You order your food and they give you a table number and then they bring out your food to you at your table. The prices were reasonably priced and gets pretty busy. I went here with a friend while we were in town after reading all of the good reviews. It was a little hard to find but it is worth finding! It's not a wait staff type of restaurant; you order and they bring your food to you. I ordered the warm blueberry walnut bread based on other Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed! It was HUGE and I had to bring some of it home. I also got an omelet that had avocado and asparagus in it (can't remember the name of it). It was absolutely delicious! The only thing I consumed that was disappointing was the apple iced tea. It had a very weird flavor so I loaded it with Splenda. Great old mill building. We really wanted to like this restaurant because of it's unique venue. But ... the food was Denny's quality - OK but very disappointing experience. Ordered an omelette. Order taker did not know that an omelette was an egg dish. She did not know their menu. The "omelette" was a flat fried egg with ingredients rolled inside of it - not fluffy, NOT an omelette.Toast was cold. Asked for grape jelly, waitress brought strawberry. This is by far the worst place I have been to eat. They are understaffed, very dirty and not sanitary. I have found mold on veggies that have been laying out for days and cookies that were rock hard. The food is never ready in time when you call ahead. For example I ordered a plain English muffin 35 minutes prior and it was just sitting in the kitchen until I had asked the staff if it was ready because I had to leave, hence why I ordered it 35 minutes earlier. When I asked the staff I was given extreme attitude as If I was burdening them. I will never step back in there again or spend my money there again. I was looking for a less crowded alternative to Tucker's on a Saturday morning. Waterworks is an order at the counter, deliver to your table kind of place. Limited but adequate menu. I ordered three buttermilk pancakes, which included a meat side, for $6. It was awesome! Great pancakes - I asked them to throw in some nuts and they added a large portion of pistachios and pecans - at no charge! I ordered bacon as the side and got 5 slices - wow. I just went for lunch today with my husband and the food was fantastic! I got the adult grilled cheese ( different cheeses, bacon , tomato) and fries. Awesome! My husband got the turkey club which he said was awesome! Height the Asian zing pasta salad as his side which wasn't exactly my favorite but was still good and he really liked it. This place has steeply declined since it opened. At first, the food was consistently good (if a bit expensive) with creative options. Even now, you may occasionally get a decent meal here. However, in the past few months I've had so many bad experiences that they far outnumber the good. I will not be returning. I work in the neighborhood, so I stopped by regularly for a while. The first incident occurred when I bought a snack item. I tasted it and it was absolutely awful. I looked at the date on the package, and it was two months out of date. When I told the cashier the next day, she said "oh, sorry" without a hint of surprise in her voice. She asked me if I wanted to exchange it. I told her that I had looked at all of the other packages and all were two months out of date. She gave me my money back, but it took several days for them to remove the expired items from the shelves. At another time, I ordered a sandwich and was served me the wrong one. I politely told the cashier and requested the sandwich I had paid for. Instead of making a new sandwich, they added additional ingredients to the first one, on top of the incorrect items. It was, of course, almost inedible. On a separate occasion, they blackened a slice of toast and instead of throwing it away, used it as the center piece of bread in a club sandwich so it was invisible until I bit into the sandwich (back at my office, of course) and was greeted with an awful burned taste. On multiple occasions recently I've ordered grilled shrimp on a salad only to have them be charred beyond recognition and impossible to chew. They frequently forget ingredients and I recently noticed that they've halved the portions of several items while continuing to charge the same prices. It's clear that the owners have decided that customers will put up with whatever from Waterworks, and they're taking advantage by cutting major corners. It's simply not acceptable, especially when you're paying $9 for a salad. Disappointing, because this place had a fantastic start. read more

I've had good experiences in the past going here for lunch, but I won't be returning. I ordered a BLT like I've done many times before. I take it back to work and at my desk I open it to find there are avocados inside of it. This is not supposed to be on a BLT, and does not say so anywhere on the menu. I go back to Waterworks to get the issue fixed, and they took my previous sandwich and take it behind the counter. A minute or two later they hand it back to me and I go back to work. At my desk again, I open the sandwich to find pieces of avocado still left behind, leading me to believe they just opened it up and picked out whatever they could see.
