Sunnyside up pizza and classic margherita
Jocelyn H.

This is one of the few thin-crust pizza places that can maintain a crispy crust after baking. I tried the sunnyside up pizza and the classic margherita, and would recommend both! Since it's thin-crust, they're not very filling so you may want to also try an appetizer or size up. When we went, we were the only people in the restaurant so it was very clean and the service was quick. I didn't know about their deals but I would definitely come back because they seem to have good specials.

Awesome wood fired neopolitan style pizzas. Te crust was nice and chewy. The tomato sauce was good. The pig Lebowski flavor profile hit the spot with the Gouda, onions, and pulled pork.

Pizza is good, but had a frustrating experience. Stopped in for their $10 lunch special - any 10in pizza with a drink. What was supposed to turn into a quick lunch stop turned into an hour lunch with a 35 min wait for my pizza. Something about the oven turning off and getting cold. I went in and asked and the guy in the front seemed a little perturbed I kept asking for an update as I continuously watched customers walk out with pizzas so at this point I was just confused. 35 minutes I got my pizza and a free pizza coupon for the wait. Pizza is good, but the frustration of the staff was a little disappointing. He didn't let me know something was wrong until about 25 minutes into my wait. Then got annoyed with me that I asked him about an update (only twice). Maybe I caught everyone on a bad day.

Notice the sparse super thin mushrooms?

Thought I'd try this place. Ordered a personal pizza with mishrooms. The $10 deal came with a free fountain beverage. Only sugared and artificial sweetener options, so I got plain tap water with ice. The pizza had almost paper thin mushrooms on it that made it impossible to taste them, and they were sparse. This is highway robbery for what you get, and the pizza was soggy except for the outer crust. Wish I would have taken a pic of the whole thing, but I was hungry. I won't be back.

Well done and easy cheese the way I ordered it! THANK YOU!

The turkey sandwich was good, we also ordered a pizza and we found that for the price they were very stingy on the ingredients.

Had the $10 pizza lunch special. Pizza was good - really liked the crust. Took less than 10 minutes to get my order.

The pizza at Billy Bricks is yummy! Actually it is the best gluten free pizza crust I have had. The pizza comes out pipping hot! Very good!

Extremely glad I made the short trip. Tortello has a casual feel: you order up front before you are seated. I ordered the cacio e pepe, plus foccacia with honey and ricotta as an appetizer. The latter was an excellent combination of flavors and textures, the savory and crunchiness of the bread with the soft creaminess and (not overwhelming) sweetness of the cheese and honey. The cacio e pepe had a high bar to clear as a result, but did so handsomely. The pasta had a pleasant bite, and the pepper and cheese were excellent. In short, a great experience. I look forward to coming here when it isn't 5 degrees outside!

There's a light casual feel because you order at the counter, but table service is still on point and prices match the white table clothes. I've walked past many times wanting to stop for dinner but they're often packed. It's first come first serve. So we lucked out with an impromptu dinner on a cold rainy evening. The heaters were on in their outdoor patio so we sat outside which can be quite romantic if you don't mind the squeeze. I most enjoyed the seasonal duck pasta (Pappardelle all'Anatra) and the focaccia with ricotta and honey; although their classic Tagliattelle Tina (popular dish denoted with a heart on the menu) was hearty and rich. Truth be told, we selected our dishes based on what we could not so easily recreate at home. And we were not disappointed!

Salad was enough for 4 - 6 people. Me and my partner had plenty of leftovers. So many ingredients almost too many to list. The ingredients that stood out were the Asparagus, mushrooms, and broccolini. Ingredients were hot and delicious. We split the Carmelized Onion Tortellini. It was magical. Great buttery taste and the Carmelized Onions oozed out of the tortellini when I cut into it with the fork. We were stuffed when we left and had enough leftovers to eat for dinner the next day. We came at lunch time & got right in. Ordered the focaccia bread. It came with olive oil & marina sauce. So amazing. Also shared the kale Ceasar salad. It was huge! Enough for 4-6. It had a lot of ingredients. Roasted asparagus, broccolini, shaved Brussels sprouts, mushrooms. It was delicious, but I would have preferred a lighter summer salad. It was hearty & warm. I'd get it again in the fall. We shared the caramelized onion tortellini. It was huge too. Amazing prices for the amount of food. It was so delicious. The onions were sweet & the pasta was perfect & fresh. Lots of leftovers to take home. Cute ambiance, friendly service. Loved that we could watch the chefs prepare the food too. Can't wait to come back for more pasta & try dessert.

It feels very open and spacious inside. Open kitchen so you can watch everything being made. The chef is from Italy and the food is amazing. The rigatoni carbonara was perfectly al dente and flavorful. The chef's special that evening was delicious too, with fabulous mushrooms. The house red wine was smooth and excellent. Fantastic, friendly, and attentive service. I'll definitely be back.

The vibe is modern Italian, but nothing particularly fancy or special to call out compared to other places. For drinks, I got a Negroni and my friend got an Italian beer. The waiter was very helpful recommending his favorite beer, which my friend enjoyed. The Negroni was tasty. One of the better ones I've had in Chicago. Although, I am getting tired of giant ice cubes, but I digress. I ordered the pesto gnocchi and my friend ordered the spaghetti bolognese. Both were delicious and tasted homemade! We enjoyed getting to pick which shape of pasta we wanted and pairing it with a sauce. It was a fun way to meet any craving! We finished with the tiramisu. Instead of marscapone, the cream tasted like it was made of egg whites. I did enjoy it, for it was pretty light and fluffy - a refreshing highlight after a heavy meal of pastas. The slice was pretty big though, so don't let them tell you otherwise. Overall, a very nice experience with tasty food and drinks. Would happily return for a lunch!
