I was the only customer in the store, and waited there with my three year old until the worker was done restocking. There's no reason restocking could not have waited. I was willing to overlook that, however. One of the items I purchased was a chocolate heart with my daughter's name on it. The box was tied closed, so I didn't see the heart until my daughter opened it on Valentine's Day. It looks like a child wrote her name on it. For the cost, the workers should be trained on how to write legibly with icing, or ask someone else to do it. When I called and explained that the name was written terribly, I was firmly told "just come in and we'll re-do it for you." This was a statement, not a choice. I was not about to make a 45 minute round-trip during a snow storm, on Valentine's Day, to have it replaced. There should have been options provided, like a store credit for my next purchase, or a partial refund.

Kind of pricey, but so good. I love salted caramel, both regular and dark chocolate, but the amaretto truffles may be their best offering. For $16, I got a trio of truffles and six salted caramels. The packaging is a bit of a pain to open, though. I had less trouble opening toys for my kids over Christmas. The shop is cute, clean, and small. Service is efficient. I'll definitely stop by the next time I have an appointment in the area.

Alethea's is named for the great grandmother of the current owners who started making candy in Greece over a century ago. The current shop is located in a charming, historic house in Williamsville - everything is made on the estate. Alethea's has an outstanding selection of icre cream and chocolates. We opted for the two-scoop almond butter toffee sundae which has vanilla and chocolate ice cream infused with almond butter toffee crumbles from the chocolate store. Drizzled in home-made choclate and caramel sauces and topped with freshly whipped cream, the ABT sundae is a decadent tribute to the fine art of creamery perfection. On our way out, we bought a pound of a Buffalo staple - chocolate covered sponge candy. Alethea's is a must-stop for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Turns out, I've been missing out on one of the greatest sweets ever invented. A quick search led us to Alethea's Chocolates, and wow... if chocolate heaven exists, I just found the front door. It's part Chocolate Wonderland, part 1950s Ice Cream Parlor, and 100% worth the stop. We were greeted by Sharon, who handed us a sample of vanilla fudge (amazing!) and pointed us straight to the sponge candy. And if you've never had it -- think caramel, honey, and toffee having a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth baby. I'm team dark chocolate, but you can't go wrong either way. Sharon was a total sweetheart -- 72 years young and clearly loving her "pretty sweet gig." She even let me take her photo for this review! Before leaving, I peeked into the old-school ice cream parlor next door -- old fashioned table & chairs, vintage charm, the whole vibe. I didn't get ice cream this time (I had a date with Rosie's Handcrafted Ice Cream later), but I'm definitely coming back. If you love chocolate, nostalgia, and a little sugar-induced happiness -- this place is a must-visit. Alethea's made me believe in love at first bite.

If you like cute little restaurants, have a sweet tooth, love gelato or have any dairy free friends this is the place for you. When you approach the restaurant you will notice all of the beautiful lights and you might think, "Wow! I want to check that out!" Then to my surprise, this amazing place I wanted to see was exactly where we were going. The ambiance is really cute and just like its out of a movie. The patio is great during the warm months and the interior is so cute with so much to look at to stimulate your sight. Inside the service is fantastic and they have a bunch of dairy free gelato flavours including a few dairy free chocolates. I ordered a small fairy free chocolate gelato with a dairy free chocolate mint chocolate on top. This was one of the best gelatos I have had all summer. My boyfriend ordered a whit chocolate raspberry gelato with a white chocolate on top (his wasn't dairy free) but it was heavenly. This is such a cute dessert shop, I highly recommend you make it a stop going to or heading back from the Niagara region.
