I like the concept of people starting up businesses in their living room, and hipsters selling to millennials and vice versa (tomayto, tomahto), but I usually don't like their products and hate their prices. The expensive-ish-ness of Blue Table and the fact that it should be in that category, made me think it would get a 4 at best. If you're gonna charge a lot you have to be otherworldly to get 5 stars from me. But here's the thing. I got these chocolates for Christmas. And I am very very very picky about chocolates. I only like the European sh**. So I can't believe I'm saying this... but these aren't just 5 star chocolates. They're 10 star chocolates. They're utterly amazing. A little bummed because the bakery we wanted to try was closed, my husband and I went to Five Points and decided to check out this place next door. It's very small and specializes in fancy, gorgeous looking truffles. I actually tasted a series of unique and delicious flavors unfolding in sequence as I ate each one. They are expensive, but I think it's a fair price to pay for these little works of art. They have special flavors and "collections" for different holidays, and a good assortment of vegan varieties. We were met with a friendly greeting and a clean environment, and all appropriate Covid precautions strictly followed. Five stars for the chocolates themselves. They are truly an experience - not something to shove in your face, but a little adventure for your palate. Despite the fanciness of the chocolates themselves and the posh feeling interior, the (proprietor? staff member?) was warm and approachable, which made us feel comfortable asking questions. I don't know why I haven't written a review of this place before. I've been enjoying their creations at events all over town. And picked some up in the past as hostess gifts, always appreciated. Made by hand and more or less sold in a day, these chocolate are sophisticated in flavors. I think they have some flavors they carry all the time, but I usually get whatever their monthly flavors are. Always a surprise and always good. I've bought so many of these as Christmas gifts and I absolutely love them. The truffles are hand made and there are so many flavors. The proprietors make each one by hand, no factory in China making your gifts. The tricky part is tracking them down and then not being totally broke after buying 3 presents (the truffles are a definite premium). On Saturdays, you can find Blue Table selling their chocolate at Horsefeathers on Connecticut & Normal. If you contact them via Twitter or email and live locally, they will sometimes make deliveries or you may be able to coordinate a pick up right in their kitchen on the West Side of Buffalo. Every single time, they have been super accomodating in trying to get me a package of truffles during the week, sometimes I've had to go out and drive somewhere to meetup, but hey -- while other people may think there's something sketchy about going to a warehouse on the West Side to pick up chocolates or meeting a nondescript parking lot, these truffles are just too damn good to pass up (and your friends will love you for them). read more

Each truffle created by Blue Table is very pretty and colorful. If you like truffles with filling, you're in luck, because the amount of filling in each truffle is very generous. I love that the company has a nut-free collection. My husband is allergic to nuts, and most chocolate assortments have some chocolate with nuts, so I usually end up eating all the nutty ones. But with Blue Table's nut-free sampler, he gets to have any and all flavors. (Note to those with very severe nut allergies: Blue Table does have a number of truffles with nut ingredients, so you still may want to avoid if you're concerned about cross-contamination or shared equipment.) If you catch them at on the ground floor of Horsefeathers on winter Saturdays, the people managing the table are always very pleasant and offer you a truffle to sample, with several flavor options. The company also partners with local non-profits, like the International Institute of Buffalo, from time to time, and puts out limited-time only chocolate offerings. First discovered over at Horsefeathers years ago and have been buying ever since. I've gotten a bunch of others to buy their chocolates, as well, including as business gifts. Am so excited that they are about to open their own retail space. Besides the truffles, I've bought their candy bars, easter eggs, christmas ornaments, and probably other things I'm forgetting. I love their creativity but what's probably more important is the consistently high quality of everything they make - the taste, texture, beautiful designs, flavors, presentation - everything. Some of my favorites have been the original creme fraiche and coconut passion fruit, as well as the collection to raise funds for the Tanzanian girls school. I also really like the new "alcoholic" collection and the Olmsted fundraiser collection. My newest individual flavor favorites are the vegan almond coconut and the pretzels and peanuts. Oh, I almost forgot! These are unbelievably inexpensive for such amazing and excellent chocolates. I've eaten a lot of fancy chocolates all over the world and you can't get this quality for these prices. No idea how they do it, but they're an incredible value. And I really mean unique! There are so so SO many flavors! I was so fortunate to taste a lot of (free) samples - these chocolates are expensive but well worth it. They make for great gifts - my sister's bridal shower had Blue Table Chocolates as the favors - or just a a sweet treat for yourself! Right now Blue Table Chocolates can be purchased online. I purchased a box of gourmet truffles at the winter market that was held at hotel henry. This is the first time I had heard of blue table and I can't say enough how happy I am with their chocolates. Not only are the flavors unique and delicious, but each piece is like a little piece of artwork. They refuse to include any with imperfections in their boxes.
