Working with WATTS AUTOMOTIVE and specifically BLAIN, was the worst experience I had buying a vehicle from a dealership, and I have purchased 10 vehicles from dealerships. Here are the facts: upon meeting Blain, he gave me a handshake but did not acknowledge my wife at all. Blain sold me a truck with weights taped to the wheels causing the truck to violently shake when going 70+mph. I asked Blain multiple times if there was anything else wrong with the truck. Blain continued to tell me that the truck had no problems with it. Yet, the truck's computer continued to notify me that the brake pads needed to be replaced and that the oil was low. The techs fixed the above problems in a timely manner. After speaking to the techs, I asked if Blain knew that the truck had not been inspected and deemed road ready for a customer. The techs told me that the vehicle was never inspected prior to reselling it and Blain was aware. Then, I proceed to register the truck in my state only to be denied the ability to, because the title was not signed by both owners on the title (IL title so it needed both). I sent the paperwork back for it to be completed. I called the dealership to get a temp tag and spoke to another sales assocaiate, who said they couldn't help because I was not their customer. After continued conversation, the associate said they would send out a temp tag. A few days later, no temp tag had arrived. At this point, the original temp tag is one day from being expired, I called again and was able to get a hold of Blain who sent out a temp tag two days later. I never received the first temp tag that was supposedly sent out by the other sales associate. That was my wife and I's experience with Watts Automotive. read more

Having been in the automotive industry (auction side) for over 15 years, it's not often I buy direct from dealers. I reached out to Hunter at Watts regarding a Tacoma. He was easy to work with and the deal went down seamlessly on my end. He worked with my bank and the deal was done while I was out of town at the NIADA. I flew from Phoenix to SLC on Saturday morning and they sent Oscar to pick my girlfriend and I up. Paperwork needed signed (10 minute process). We were out of there in a new lifted Tacoma. Made our way through Arches National Park, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon and Sedona on our way home. I would recommend Hunter and the team at Watts to any of my friends or family. THIS WHAT YOU WILL GET WHEN YOU BUY A $50,000.00 TRUCK PEOPLE..... 50K..... This guys ask for top dollar for their vehicles. When I got home I tried to open the tailgate and it took about 15 minutes before I got it opened. The tailgate handle was broken the latches are all bent. Not even a month before I get it home the brakes start squeaking and the front brake pads are on the indicator. The lift kit was just thrown on, very poor quality installation of lift kit. The left front brake hose is rubbing on the coil spring. One of these days it will rub a hole through the hose and I'll loose my brakes. I called the manager and he told me the brakes passed their inspection. So, if brakes pass with 10% left and they let a vehicle leave the lot with a brake hose rubbing on the coil spring and a truck with a tail gate that DOES NOT OPEN. This is a typical car lot that slaps vehicles together with cheap lift kits and very poor technicians installing them. What kind of shop would let a vehicle leave with a brake hose rubbing on the coil spring? The manager thinks I'm stupid. I have been in automotive repair shops for 20 years as a technician, service writer, and store manager. He told me a shop should only charge 25.00 bucks to fix the tailgate, 50.00 if he's a crook...... And, front/rear brakes will only cost around 200.00 bucks.... Friendly reminder to anybody buying a vehicle here.... This is the quality trucks they sell with very low requirements on THEIR inspection... I wonder what type of liability this company will up against when this brake line blows out and I loose my brakes???????? read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I bought a 2011 F250 from them and within 4 days my AC went out. Now I get a used vehicle things are going to start going out. I did contact my salesman Colby on 9/2/2019 and he informed me it should be covered under their 30 day warranty. I live out of state so decided to try to work with them and get a quote from a shop to replace the AC compressor since that is what they told me went out. They stated I was being over charged but they are willing to cover half of the quote. Giving that is was 107 in Vegas where I live I agreed and got it fixed a few days later. It is now 9/24/2019 and they have yet to pay me the half they agreed to pay for. Not to mention when the shop tore apart the truck they advised me the condenser was also leaking. I decided to do a complete service on the truck myself since it is a used truck and realized my air filter was extremely dirty and my coolant level was overfilled and was also red in color when it's supposed to be orange and it didn't even smell like coolant. Also after towing my side by side and trailer no more than 3,000 pounds my transmission temperature is over 240 degrees and the needle gauge gets close to hot, unsure what is going on still have to figure that out. I will not buy from them again as they do not keep to their word and promises nor run their used trucks through any kind of inspection. read more

I was referred to Watts because my brother bought a truck through them and had a great experience. I bought a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD in October 2016 and I wish I hadn't purchased the truck out of state. I live in CA and they shipped the truck to me. I received the truck in a parking lot at night so I couldn't really see if there was anything wrong with the truck when I received it. The next day I realized there were two rock chips in the front windshield. I don't know if they were there before it shipped or not, but I was unhappy about it. Secondly, my truck has a 7" lift with 37" tires so they installed some Amp steps to make it easier to get into the high truck. They work great, but when I turn my wheel all the way the front tire catches on my Amp step and pulls it down on both sides. It makes a loud repeating thud sound. I tried calling Watts Automotive immediately and they offered some advice about adjusting them to move them back. Unfortunately, when I looked under the truck I learned they were already adjusted all the way back. That tells me they tried to move them back as far as they could and then knowingly didn't care to fix it before they shipped the truck to me. They did nothing to rectify the situation for this or the windshield. That's just not a good way to handle business. I was really surprised because I know they do a lot of business out of state so I figured they would do better. I guess not. read more

They broke the law! Hunter Lewis at Watts Automotive performed deceptive acts and practices by not following Utah State Law "R152-11-10. Deposits and Refunds" found here https://rules.utah.gov/publicat/code/r152/r152-11.htm when I requested a refund on my $1000 deposit. They freely took my $1000 deposit via text message on a vehicle I was interested in without providing me a receipt, which must have these details explained: "(2) All deposits accepted by a supplier must be evidenced by dated receipts, provided to the consumer at the time of the transaction, stating the following information: (a) Description of the consumer commodity, (including model, model year, when appropriate, make, and color); (b) The cash selling price; (c) Allowance on the consumer commodity to be traded in, if any; (d) Time during which the option is binding; (e) Whether the deposit is refundable and under what conditions; and (f) Any additional cost such as delivery charge." When I received a better deal at a competitors store, I requested a refund on my deposit but they refused and broke the next law under this same rule, section 3C which states: "C. It shall be a deceptive act or practice in connection with a consumer transaction for a supplier who has accepted a deposit and has received from the consumer within a reasonable time a valid request for refund of the deposit to fail to make the refund within 30 calendar days after receipt of such request." The owner Brett Watts and the sales person Hunter both said they don't care about the Utah law or consumer protection and refuse to give me a refund on my $1000 deposit. They also disregarded me as a consumer and never did anything to make things right. They are crooked and dishonest humans that have no integrity despite their aggressive flaunts to establish such attribute. As far as I'm concerned, they are now in violation of theft. However, due to the amount of money involved it's not substantial enough to be criminal so this remains a Civil case in which my only options are to be forced to buy their product or sue them under small claims court. Either option is uncomfortable and frustrating for me. Trust me, you never want to work with thieves, you will always lose! I would never recommend working with Brett (owner) or Hunter (salesman). Beware, they will use deceptive acts and practices to get their way and will tell you to your face that they don't care about the law, that they never divulge contractual information because they believe "99.9% of people never read them anyway," and that they will not supply this required receipt with the aforementioned details. They admitted to being dishonest and deceptive thieves yet stated they have integrity. Their actions are unlawful and they will never see my business again. Never give Watts automotive a deposit on a vehicle without the aforementioned documentation they are required to provide. Either way they will take advantage of you if you try to get a refund! read more

Don't bid on Ebay for one of their cars. I made that mistake, and it ended up costing me $1,000 even though I wasn't the high bidder. So, they set their reserves so high, no one wins the bid. But, I fell for the gimmick and followed up with them directly. Then, before I even signed one piece of paper, they got me to make a down payment. Long story short, when the car did not check out, and before I had signed anything, they refused to refund the $1,000 citing the ebay deal, which clearly states that the winning bidder (there was none) must make a non-refundable deposit. Do not trust these guys with your money. They will keep it and then ignore you. There is a word for this, of course: theft. I am reporting them to the DA. read more

I have to say I'm disappointed with my 2nd experience buying from this place. I dealt with Steve the salesman - experience was fine to do purchasing and shipping of vehicles. Nothing out of the ordinary. I received the truck, everything was fine - looked good and I wasn't overly excited about the truck since I really did like my other truck I traded in but that's on me, nothing to do with Watts. My issue is that the truck has had traction control issues and I'm the one going from garage to garage asking if they can run a diagnostics to let me know what the issue is. I was instructed by Watts to do so by the way. The actual cables that are under the truck - none are tied in, loose everywhere, and I'm disappointed at how they shipped this truck out to me. Where is the dealer certification on their vehicles? They made $5K on the truck I traded in (sold it in 1 day) - but now that I have an issue, I'm getting the run around as to how to fix it. Only reason I mention how much they made on the other truck is that I was ok with them making that off of me since my first experience was a good one. I am so tired of the back and forth that I will find a garage that will work on lifted trucks to get them to tuck/tie the loose wires the right way (front and rear tires), and I will pay to get the traction control diagnosed. May cost a grand or 2 but I don't have the luxury of driving around to get Watts codes that don't show unless the vehicles traction control kicks in. Disappointed and will not buy from them again. For the record, I avg. buying a truck every 3 years - was hoping these were my guys but next time I will do my due diligence with how I go about purchasing a truck out of state. Be sure to take the vehicle for a test drive and bring it to your mechanic to review if you're buying in person. If you can't see the vehicle in person, you may want to pay a mechanic a couple hundred to go take a look. I've been shopping for a truck for the last five months. I found Watts Automotive on eBay and watched Ram 2500 for a long time. I finally made the decision to purchase it on November 27th 2015. Hunter was very easy going and an enjoyment to work with. He wasn't pushy and allowed me to put a down payment on it and pick it up on December 19th 2015. I hopped on a flight to Salt Lake and Hunter had is driver pick me up at the airport. When I arrived, my truck had been fully detailed and ready for a test drive. After the test drive I inspected the truck and found a small scratch on the driver side door. Hunter made sure that the scratch was repaired and also fueled the truck up for my trip home. I paid for the truck and drove home to California. So far, no problems or mechanical issues. I have never had a more pleasant buying experience until I found Watts Automotive. They're prices are excellent and they will go out of they're way to make sure that you are happy with your purchase. 1-6-16 update It's been 2-1/2 weeks since I've purchased my truck from Watts Automotive. I've run into a slight problem with a leak in the rear window. It leaks every time it rains and there is water damage behind the rear seats and interior paneling. I'm really disappointed. Not sure what to think about this dealer ship. My advice to anyone who is thinking about buying from Watts is to examine the vehicle thoroughly and make sure you know what your getting. Thank god my truck is still under warranty but it makes me wonder if Hunter and the guys at Watts knew about the leak and didn't say anything. read more

I was shopping for a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel truck for many months. I found one on auto trader that was listed from Watts Automotive. After a few email exchanges (them being in American Forks, UT. And me near Portland OR ) and phone calls. I placed a $1,000 deposit on a truck. It took me nearly 2 weeks to get there. They met me at the airport, got me to the dealership where I inspected the truck. Was it perfect? No. The two tires on the passenger side were severely curb worn. They had no problem writing me a check for two new tires. The bottom line, they didn't list all of the features of the truck. It was more valuable than what they listed. They were upfront, honest, easy to work with, responsive to email and phone calls. I worked with Steve and would be happy to do so again. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Spent over 80k bought 2 trucks from them same day. One month later the stereo screen went out in one truck. I called and spoke to the owner and later Dustin the alleged manager of the service department. They opted to charge me for a new screen and "send " it to me as I live 4 hours away. I have now waited for 3 weeks for a new stereo which I have not gotten even after calling Dustin on 4 occasions now. Every time he forgot or just mailed it. STILL WAITING FOR MY STEREO... Purchased a Ford F-350 for just under $20,000 which was high book. They said it would not disappoint us, nothing wrong with it. Purchased it to tow our little 17 ft boat and to take our daughter to lake Powell because she recently had brain surgery and needed something to get her mind off her health problems. I sent pics to Blain of my truck that I wanted to trade in. He got back to me after reviewing pics and talking it over with his superiors in a timely manner. I gave plenty of details (good and bad) about my truck. He gave me a very reasonable quote. I live in the San Francisco area which means I couldn't just swing in and let him look at it. I was nervous that as soon as I got there they would do some salesman move and talk the worth of my truck down saying they couldn't really tell the condition of the vehicle in the pictures. This was very scary for me because I live 12 hour drive away. Long story short the trade in went without any issues. Then the next worry was the vehicle I was purchasing from them. The truck was in good working order and very nicely detailed. It was everything he mentioned on ebay and more. I got a great deal as discussed over the phone with Blain and once again my worries about purchasing a vehicle through a dealership I had no prior experience with went out the window. So all and all I enjoyed my experience with this dealership and Blain especially. Straight up guy with no B.S. Very unfortunate that I have to leave this review as I never like to say negative things about a business who tries to honestly take care of their customers...that is not the case with this dealership. My 16 year old son found a pickup that he wanted to buy from them. He and his father called and negotiated a deal with Lauren...complete with pictures of our trade in vehicles that he was using for his down payment. A buyers order was sent to us...signed by them and us agreeing to the terms...and sent back. My husband and son then drove over 5 hours to go pick up the vehicle. Upon getting there, the owner Brett, after looking at the vehicles that we sent pictures of, decided he would need an additional $7000 to complete the deal...as we had a cashiers check with us from our finance company with the agreed upon amount from the buyers order signed by them. My husband stated that, no, we would not give them another $7000, and he needed to stick to the buyers agreement. He refused, knowing that my husband and son had drove over 5 hours to get to the dealership. After a very heated argument, which ended up with the owner getting in my husbands face and another salesman shoving my son, my family left. To add insult to injury, when I inquired about the $1000 deposit they had from us I was promised twice it would be refunded. Not trusting them, I filed a dispute with our credit card company. Thankful I did because they never refunded it but we were awarded it back by our credit card company. Long story short I would suggest reading all the reviews on this company and its owner, had we done that we would have never attempted to business with them. And just a bit of information, after speaking with our attorney, a buyers agreement is a legally binding agreement. read more
