As someone who has been gluten free for 7 years, it's hard to come by baked goods that aren't too dry or mealy. We tried the key lime cupcake, chocolate cupcake, and breakfast burritos (both sausage and bacon). The desserts were fantastic! The breakfast burritos were very good, but I would have liked a little more flavor mixed in with the egg and meat (like peppers, mushroom, spinach, garlic, etc). Overall, really good experience. Of note for anyone going there to sit down (I originally went there to study and have a treat)- there are only two small tables inside and two outside. Although not an ideal place to study, definitely a good place to go for gluten free dessert lovers. Will be back! read more

Stopped by on a whim and so glad I did! Friendly, helpful service, and everything I tried was amazing. Cinnamon Streusel muffin could stand to have a little more cinnamon, but it was still super tasty and, yes, moist! The keto sugar cookie had a texture like it contained coconut, so different, and still delish. Brownie was super dense and chocolatey. We had people in from out of town for our daughters wedding who have to be gluten free and dairy free. Wave the Grain had wonderful quiches that "fit the bill". I've been here a few times. The pastries and burritos are decent, but nothing exciting. Their pain au chocolat is good for gluten free, but their cakes are a little dense. The quality of the food doesn't merit the low rating; it's the practice. I don't know if this is a regular occurrence, but the employees, many of whom work with the actual food and with bare hands, openly bring in glutened pizza from next door (Joe's Pizza) and eat it INSIDE the bakery. While celiacs do accept a reasonable risk of eating out, if a restaurant advertises itself to be a dedicated facility, then IT IS responsible for taking the extra precautions to ensure that those with celiac disease or a gluten allergy are protected. Wave the Grain does in fact advertise itself as a dedicated facility on several sites, including those intended for celiac diners, which is how I found out about this place. This is pure fiction and a gross misrepresentation. As a celiac, I will not be back due to cross contamination concerns. read more

I found out I was gluten intolerant earlier this year. At first it was overwhelming to change my diet. Alison, the owner here, has been so helpful and supportive. She's had great suggestions and tips. They remember their customer's favorite things, and have them ready for me every time I come in. They have all the standard pastries--gluten free scones, croissants, muffins, breads, etc--and are always coming up with new creations. With fairly short notice, they've been able to cater a few things for us at church. They also stock pastas and gluten free ingredients for purchase. Great food and great people! read more

I moved to CO two years ago and at that time would have given WtG a 5 star review. My entire family goes there often even during the pandemic. In the past their staff were wearing masks as they should. I went there yesterday and not one staff member wore a mask. I asked the person serving food if she would tell me if the staff are vaccinated? She told me "I'm not allowed to tell you". They prepare the food, serve the food with no mask. They breathe on the food. The pandemic is air borne. I walked out without purchasing anything and will not be back. If that is their policy my family and I will speak with our dollars. read more

We ordered our baby shower cupcakes through Wave the Grain. We did the minis and dealer's choice with the only parameters of three colors. They turned out amazing! My parents and I are dairy and egg free so we had a few made vegan. No one at our baby shower believed that all of them were gluten free! I was so happy with how they turned out and am still kicking myself I didn't take a pic...every time I go in to the bakery, I find a new treat to try. I have not been disappointed yet! read more

I have a friend who is gluten-free and misses out on a lot of holiday treats, so I wanted to gift her with some yummy goodies while supporting a local business. I went to Wave the Grain and came away thinking they might want to change their name to Wave the COVID. There were three people working. The one who is supposed to get your order out of the case had her mask below her nose. The employee frosting the cinnamon rolls also had her mask strategically placed in the useless position below her nose. The last member of team public health wore her food service gloves out of the bakery to do some errands and came back in touching the door handle. Maybe she was going to wash her hands and change gloves. I didn't stay around long enough to see what transpired next. I was imagining what they do when customers aren't watching as I told them that I could not buy items that I knew were not sanitary. Clueless looks all around --which is even more alarming. I proceeded to Gluten Escape a few miles down the road and was pleased with their adherence to common sense food and public health safety, the overall competence of their staff, and selection. They only allow 3 people in the store at a time and even wear masks correctly! Thanks to Gluten Escape, my friend gets to enjoy treats with the rest of her family. read more

I ordered a cake on 6/30 for my wedding taking place on 7/13 and was told what I had requested would be no problem and that it was plenty of time to complete the request. I had asked for couple small basic fondant animals and simple floral piping on the side. I prepaid $101.41 for a 9 inch cake and went on my way. My mother came to pick up the cake on the morning of 7/13. At that point she called me and told me there was a problem. I was then told the fondant melted (how ...?) and there were no animals on the cake. I said fine, figured the cake would still taste good and I would figure it out. I said just to pipe my name and my fiancé's name on the top and that would be that. When my mother arrived home with the cake, the flowers and vines that were supposed to be piped on the side looked terrible, and our names were piped in pastel yellow icing on top of the off white butter creme and you couldn't even see it. Again, figuring the cake would taste good, we ran out to a florist and got some flowers to spray over the top, so I could at least have something attractive for pictures. To be honest the greatest disappointment came when my fiancé and I went to cut the cake. The cake at this point had been sitting out in 80 degree weather for at least an hour, but when we cut into it it was incredibly hard. He fed me a bite and to my complete disappointment, the cake itself was inedible. It was dry to the point of resembling sawdust and tasted like freezer burn. The raspberry "filling" I was up-charged a decent amount for was a thin, barely existent layer of what seemed to be store bought jam. The frosting was overbearingly sweet. I am extremely disappointed and confused because everything I have purchased from this store has been very good. The day I ordered my cake for my wedding, there were beautifully decorated cakes in the case and I was told how wonderfully talented the main decorator was and that my requests would be no problem at all. We were incredibly excited to have a cake from this bakery, because we felt we could depend on it. I understand that everyone has off days, but I was never contacted about any errors with my order, and was initially offered a "partial refund" which I agreed to on the phone because I figured the cake would still be edible. Eventually I was told I would get a full refund, but there was no receipt or transaction number given to my mother who picked up the cake. I eventually received a refund after multiple points of contact. Overall, the product was awful and the customer service my mother received (or rather, didn't) when she went to retrieve the order was absolutely appalling. After this extremely disappointing experience I will never be back. read more

I had some pumpkin bread that was very good and not overly sweet. I paid 4.95 for a cinnamon roll that was inedible. The muffins rate 3.5 stars. While I appreciate that nothing here is made with gluten, like most gluten free offerings, there is way too much sugar. It's as if, because it's gluten free it needs a lot of sugar. The owner and her son are really lovely, but for what I spent, it wasn't worth the price. This was my first (and probably only) visit, as I eat a low carb diet. So I bake breads, muffins and desserts at home with low carb nut flours, and use sugar alcohols, monk fruit and stevia for sweeteners. Since I have celiac disease and am also hypoglycemic, sugar is a big issue for me, not for others. read more
