I came her for brunch with 4 people but I would not go back. The food portions are very small and expensive for what you get. Our party of five ordered 6 entrees, a side of fries, 4 alcoholic drinks, and 1 non alcoholic beverage. I had the Baja Rice bowl which was lacking in flavor. The entire meal tasted like plain white rice. I asked for extra aioli to give the food some sort of flavor. I also ordered a side of fries since I the portion of the food was on the small side. When the fries came out they were about twice as big as the rice bowl. I had the bodega boy to drink and it was pretty good. Our server (Danny) was not that great. He seemed to be annoyed when we asked him for recommendations on the menu since it was our first time there. Throughout out our brunch we had to continually ask Danny for refills and he never checked on us. We still tipped 20% since the busboys were great and super helpful. Danny asked if any of us wanted dessert and we told him we were too full for dessert and that we wanted the checks. Danny then came back with a birthday dessert for my mom. We assumed the dessert was free since he never mentioned we'd be charged for it and usually birthday desserts are free at most restaurants. He had a bad attitude when it was time to pay the check. We told him we wanted to split the check, but he only came back with 1 receipt for the food and 1 for the birthday dessert we assumed was complimentary. When he came back to pick up the bill he insisted that he brought out 3 receipts. He was too busy printing out the dessert receipt to realize his mistake. We told him to just charge 1 card since he was struggling to do his job. I could understand Danny's attitude towards us if we were rude, didn't tip, or if we didn't spend much money. We did none of those things so I'm not sure if he was having a bad day or what, but he definitely made the experience worse. read more

Ordered while we shopped at Seaside Market and picked up 15 minutes later was excited as I anticipated having the pork chop and let's just say expectations were over the top! I very infrequently cook a pork chop but when I do it is tender and amazing! The pork chop was nicely cooked on the outside but in cutting it up, it was bloody inside ( requested well done) no flavor at all and not any hint of tenderness! I was so disappointed ! I had a few bites and went home and made myself dinner ! Ah, but in my mind the fantasy of having a pork chop has been forever destroyed! Really disappointed! So all of our attempts to make dinner reservations around this town failed. We drove to Seaside Market & happened to drive by this very inviting & hip place. Luckily, we scored a cancelled reservation! Got seated right away. Modern boho interior. Live DJ playing all my favorite throwback jams. Very moody. We ordered a variety of small plates. Halloumi fries is just like an upgraded version of mozzarella sticks. Gioia Burrata donuts was delish. Came with prosciutto & a tomato fondue. The crispy cauliflower is my favorite. It is generously seasoned & the hummus is just as good. Grilled oysters were tiny! The flavors were great, the oyster meat is probably just the size of a quarter. I really loved it here but spent a pretty penny!!! I think this could be a great spot for special occasions because the food, service, and decor is all too notch. I wish their prices were lower, but at least the food is quality. A couple of my friends left hungry which is a total bummer (after eating meatball and fish entrees). I finally ventured out to, one of many, San Diego's Instagram worthy restaurants for a bite to eat with one of my day-1 girlfriends. First, this place is aesthetically pleasing the the eye. The neutral tones with pops of rich color throughout the restaurant really give off fresh, calm, inviting, chic, and hip! Now let's talk drinks! I can't recall the name of the drink, but it certainly was balanced well, tasty, and beautifully presented. Last, yet not least, my meal. I ordered a dish that included, poached eggs, 2 types of sauce: and the yogurt based. This dish was exquisite! I also ordered a side of grilled shrimp that was perfectly seasoned and perfectly grilled. This was a perfect dish to break my fast! This place was probably the most friendliest place we have eaten at in a long time. Everyone that worked there were was asking if we needed anything else if we're ok etc.... I had the fried chicken sandwich which was very good and my girl had the ceviche which she said was delicious. Only downside which is not the restaurants fault was finding parking in the lot. I did have to ask for a lot of things (water, sugar, utensils), but our server was really quick getting them to me once I asked. I had the caesar salad with chicken and a coffee. Wonderful evening out with friends! Our reservation was during the Saturday night surge and, admittedly, things started out a little rocky. Surface level cool but doesn't go much beyond that. The website had me sold on a beautiful restaurant with a beach vibe, I'm picturing ocean breezes and amazing views. But it's just in a shopping center area where you can't even park for more than an hour. The place is actually surprising small and feels a little compact vs the airiness one might expect. I came about 4 pm on a Friday before the long July 4th weekend. I was surprised how quiet it was. Almost no one there. Friday happy hours most places I go are packed full of people. The happy hour menu was mediocre nothing special. I got a $10 cocktail which was good, but didn't wow. Some Cocktails sounded great but were running 18+ on the price and didn't seem worth it. There really wasn't any good snackable food options. I got this Japanese river crab which was really just 2 bites. No flavor just crunch. Keeping with the theme of looking cool but lacking beyond that. Compared to a place like kettner exchange (same restaurant group) I just wasn't impressed. Nothing was terribly bad about this place, but not one thing wowed me enough to want to come back. read more

This is a really cute spot for morning brunch. Interior is beautifully decorated with wide doors that are open which allows cool ocean breeze in. Could get a bit drafty so bring a sweater. We ordered seasonal fruit, side of bacon, and the Turkish Poached Eggs. Given that we are light eaters, paired with coffee, our meal was well balanced. I would recommend this dish to new comers. If you like a flare in flavors than your brunch norm, this will hit the spot. Our server was really nice and patient with us. Made some recommendations that peaked our interest. I've been here a handful of times, and I always want to like it, but it just never wows me. Whenever I find something on the menu I like, it changes. I come back for the food, then I'm disappointed with the service. I will frequent a restaurant just for the food, and ignore the service if I must, but the food has to keep me coming back. I wish I would've read reviews before coming here because I didn't realize how much this place really needs a kick in the pants for improvement, we just so happened to be in Cardiff and went here. First of all the food is really good, portions are small for the price BUT it's tasty. That said the stars are for similar reasons that others experienced like cold customer service, as well as slow service, plus additional gripes we had. We got the fried chicken sandwiches, we ordered two, as well as two fruit salads. For some reason only 1 order was placed for cooking, so only one fruit salad and one sandwich and fries came out. It was pretty weird as me and my fiancé were trying to give the other the sandwich so it wouldn't get cold. We decided fiancé would eat sandwich and I would eat the fruit salad and then obviously switch when the 2nd sandwich would ultimately arrive with the fruit salad. So that's strike 1, strike 2 was that someone else ordered the chicken sandwich with the sauce on the side (not me), so they basically gave me someone else's sandwich which is sorta wack on them lol, they told me not to worry about it and just eat it... What about the person who had ordered it specifically with the side of sauce... Again the sandwich/food was bomb.com, for real it was so freaking good but goodness what is with the staff/management? Here is strike 3: The section they sat us in was right by the door in an elevated seating, like barstools. What I didn't realize was I was too short (lol) so I asked if there would be a better accommodation, they barely looked and around before immediately saying no. I didn't complain but it was pretty lame customer service. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here BUT I am sure that they will have a ton of business because of influencers and aesthetic. We put ourselves on the waiting list. Although there was a reservation available at 8:45 PM on the OpenTable app, we decided to show up at 8:00 and try to get a table sooner. The not-so-happy or friendly host told us to wait to be seated, so we went to the bar. We waited to be seated, and 1.5 hours later, the bartender told us it was last call for food--we had never been seated. The host knew we were waiting at the bar for a table and never said anything. They didn't even apologize for making us wait that long. Long story short, we couldn't eat there and we ended up buying fast food because all the other restaurants had already stopped serving. I came here based on recommendations from friends! The place is neatly seated in a big shopping area where parking was not too hard to get. You are greeted by an opened dining experience where 1/4 of the restaurant is outside and there is doggy/grassy area for your little fur babies. This review is based off their brunch! It's a limited menu if you dine before 11am. I think they would have a bigger clientele if they open their breakfast and lunch at the same time or offer some of the items like pickled potatoes for breakfast hint hint haha. I really enjoyed their Turkish eggs and breakfast bowl! The curry aioli does it for me! Waverly offers great drinks, good brunch options, nice music and bad service on run-down furniture near a parking area and busy street. The drinks were wonderful and came out rather quickly! The food was good, with balanced spices and flavors. However, they overdid the roasting on the French toast - the crème brûlée was burnt and too thick. Their cheese platter dessert is the French toast but with blue cheeses... bummer, since I hoped to try something new and unlike my main course. The music was pretty nice; they even had a live dj! BUT... the furniture had a bunch of stains with layers of dust. Our table's base and top were both extremely wobbly. When we asked our waiter about the table, he responded with "ah, that's just how it is. If something falls off your table, it's on the house." What? That is a crazy and ridiculous response to a clearly defective necessity. For the rest of our service, the waiter and runners were impersonal, way too quiet, and careless. We both ordered the breakfast rice bowl and I also got a side of shrimp. Filling, unique and delish!! I ate the entire dish. Also got a coffee and the butterscotch pudding. The pudding was heavenly!! Started off with a Kona Old Fashioned - tremendous and perfectly blended: Pickled potatoes with crème fraiche - to die for. The waiter tried to clear if before we got all the crème and I threatened to stick a fork in his hand (jk!). Salmon was lovely, pork chop spicy and perfectly seasoned. Wine list short-ish but good variety - the Gruner Veltliner was excellent. Finally the butterscotch dessert - holy cow. So good. Our server Miles (and his trainer) did a great job. We will be back! I enjoyed a nice breakfast sandwich for brunch from this eatery. Specifically, I had the "Sausage Egg Breakfast Sandwich" on a Brioch Bun which also came with American Cheese and Chives for $14. The sandwich also came with a small portion of house breakfast potatoes on the side. The breakfast sandwich was quite good, but I would to see them better scramble the soft scramble where you don't see much of the whites. At any rate, is was a scrumptious breakfast. I was quite fond of the house made breakfast sausage. It was very well executed and seasoned. Simply put, it was delicious. The brioche bun was good, well toasted, and encompassed the sandwich well. The addition of the chives was smart, and the American, although it did not offer much in depth of flavor, it was melted well. The side of crispy potatoes were great. They were well seasoned and tasted great. I just wish they offered more, and I wished they served them with a house salsa, or at the very least offer a quality hot sauce, other than Tabasco Sauce. read more
