It would help if guests were informed ahead of time when machines are down, especially for services that depend on them. Living up to their namesake, that's exactly what your nether region will feel like after a wax at Smooth as Silk. Groupon brought me here. I've had the opportunity to try many waxing places because of it. Most estheticians I've gone to are usually independent and rent a space inside a salon building, but Smooth as Silk is actually a standalone waxing studio. And a beautifully decorated one at that -- reclaimed wood paneling and decor that made for a warm welcome. They even offer bottled water while waiting. A cleansing wipe is provided beforehand and a sheet drape for modesty after undressing. Tori did my wax. She was casual and friendly and turns out she's also the owner. So it goes without saying that I experienced a thorough wax. I'm bad at maintaining my brazilian schedule so it was as if it was my first time waxing, but it wasn't as painful as I anticipated. Thanks! I have a few favorite waxing places in town and this will definitely be added to the list. Their regular price for brazilian wax is $50 which is usually the average to comparable studios.

During my visit, Bertha told me the bumps and acne were actually being caused by waxing/shaving my face at home. This was causing ingrown hairs to form on my face, hence the bumps that would not go away no matter the products I used. She educated me thoroughly about my skin, which I appreciated so much. With just one visit, I understood the cause of my breakouts and what I could do to prevent them. Other estheticians I've went to recommended I come back every 2-3 weeks. But Bertha did such an amazing job with the extractions the first visit, she recommended I wait and see how my skin heals before scheduling again. This made me feel she really cared about my skin and was not just trying to keep me coming back. It was the most thorough extraction process I've had, as she went through each pore. After my visit, my skin was visibly smoother and supple. Today, my skin feels 100x less congested. I will definitely continue to visit Bertha. She is very sweet, knowledgeable and thorough. The spa room is very cozy and easy to relax in. The booking process was very seamless, I just sent the business a text and she got back to me within the hour to schedule for the following day. I didn't realize what having your eyebrows professionally shaped would do for my face. I was overdoing them and now that she has me growing them in I see a world of deference. I even get compliments from friends. I get the eye brightener which includes coloring my lashes and eyebrows. During the day I can just curl my lashes and go without mascara. I still need it at night tho. I also can go without penciling in my eyebrows. I definitely think it's worth the money. Andrea is always so sweet and does a good job. Any place that says they can get you in and out in 15 minutes (as though that is a good thing) is a place I would be wary of. It is one thing to be efficient, it's another to rush. I appreciate that Andrea takes the time to ensure she gets the job done in a sanitary manner, while still talking to me and ensuring I am comfortable during the process. I will never go to anyone else for my waxing needs.
