First, Heena makes this sensitive procedure as painless as possible---she is so quick and efficient that's it's over before you know it! And she's thorough too! Very affordable and fast waxing done by nice women. One thing to really commend them for is how quickly they get it done. If waxing is done like ripping off a band-aid, even fraidy cats like me can deal with it. I asked for the blue wax as Laki said it was the least painful-waxing is never gonna be completely pain-free, but it was manageable. And amazingly, my legs were immediately good to go, no redness apart from the bikini zone, which is normal. I spent the summer in New York. Located this business via Groupon. Took a chance after only ever having one person waxed me all this time. Nikki was awesome!!! She is amazing. I was there for 8 weeks and went to her 3 times. I had Brazilian, legs, under arm and lower back waxed. I had no issues. She's my go to girl whenever I'm in New York. The salon was clean (except for some wax splatters on the wall), centrally located, and comfortable. I'm used to the spa type services here in KC...candles burning, warm towels...soothing music and flavored water. However, this is definitely an in and out type of situation. No fluff(which makes sense given the prices). I canceled my appointments with a upscale spa in Manhattan and am happy I did. I've been a customer of Waxing Studio for a few months now, and I love it. Meenu does a fantastic job with my Brazilian. She's friendly, professional, and quick. The whole process takes 15 minutes from walking in and out of the door. First, I was enticed by their chocolate wax. I didn't know that was a thing, but check it out if you're a chocolate lover! I have sensitive skin, so now I go for the cream wax. I didn't have a bizarre/unpleasant experience from the chocolate, I just prefer to use the most gentle option to reduce any ingrown hairs. I'll wrap this review up with mentioning their very affordable prices. A Brazilian costs $24! I haven't done an official wax tour of Manhattan, but this is the best price I've encountered. read more

Been there in the beginning of summer but it was so bad it still hurts. Went there for Brazilian. It wasn't my first Brazilian I usually stick to a lil more pricey places so this time I decided to give it a shot. It would be nice to switch to 15$ per Brazilian but you do get what you pay for. The reason this place have more than two stars is the promotions they do for yelp and if you give it five stars they give you like 5$ discount and like get one free after five or smth. But lemme tell you it just doesn't worth it. I usually don't care this much, if it would be just below average I would just go with it but boooooy it was below bad. First of all their private rooms are smaller than Zara's dressing rooms. So like super small. You can't even spread your legs fully. Second of all for entire area she used one lil sauce cup of was. Which btw just sits in the open burner (I don't know how to call them but those things they use to keep the wax warm) by the entrance. Wax was extremely hot and she used one strip for entire area. So wax gets applied one time and than the rest just gets to pulled out by the same strip with your hair on it. And you know major rule of waxing when you not suppose to go over one spot more than one time? Forget about it. She was trying to get rid of left over hair I'm assuming, but girl four times is more than enough just stop. In the end wax doesn't get cleaned up so add sticky underwear to the private areas burning in waxing hell. Horrible place wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

My first time getting a Brazilian wax was with a groupon at a posh place in Hong Kong; they were fantastic and the wax was relatively painless, but obviously I can't go back regularly. My second time was a chocolate wax (also through groupon) in NYC, but it was a bit out of the way and I didn't love my experience there. Considering how sensitive the lady parts are, I wasn't sure whether to just go for expensive ones and be sure of the quality or risk groupon again - to my surprise, Waxing Studio NYC had an overall 5 star rating when I checked it out on Yelp. I've been twice so far and I'm happy with my experience - I'll definitely stick with Nikky (sp? I see everyone else is writing "Nikki" but she wrote "Nikky" on my card, lol). My first time here was a little less than perfect; she didn't get all of the wax off my legs, so I had sticky dirty splotches on my legs that I had to clean off later. The Brazilian was not painless (as was the one in HK), but it was tolerable and she was really attentive to my pain and patient about waiting until I could stand it again. She was friendly and made me feel comfortable, and although the Brazilian wasn't completely hairless, I was satisfied because I mainly just wanted to be clear for wearing a bikini. It was a bit sensitive immediately afterwards, but I had no pain or irritation and it was totally fine within a few hours. The second time I came here, I checked my legs before I hopped off, and she obliged me in getting the small patches of wax off. The Brazilian did leave me irritated a bit longer than the last time, but I was fine within a couple of days. I got my eyebrows done here the second time just because it would've been nice to get everything done in one place, but I didn't love my eyebrows as I do at my usual place (Professional Threading Salon on E 8th btwn 2nd & 3rd, same price & same deal). I'm sure Nikky would've obliged if I had known what to ask for, but I'd recommend PTS if you're an eyebrow noob like me. As others have mentioned, this is a one-woman place - make a reservation, and know that you might still have to wait because she's fairly popular. Quite a few of the services are buy 6 get 1 free (including but not limited to lower leg, eyebrow & chin); Brazilian is not, but you'll get a card that guarantees that it'll always be $18. I went in for a Brazilian wax yesterday and let me say this was by far my worst experience thus far. First, the woman who performed my wax was EXTREMELY rough. By no means am I overly sensitive to pain AND I'm well aware of the level of pain associated with this service especially being a person who alternatives between shaving and waxing. With that being said, there are actions that can be taken to help minimize pain which include pressing down on the area to avoid ripping off skin along with the wax/hair. Instead, the wax was applied carelessly and yanked off in the same fashion. I was left completely bruised, red and bleeding which should not be the case. Additionally, any good esthetician knows that you need to first apply powder to the area to absorb the moisture and ensure the wax adheres to the hair and not your skin. This was not the case in my situation, hence why I am still bruised a day later. Secondly, the room was so small it did not have an adequate amount of space to properly perform this type of service. There was no way to position the left side of your body since the bed was so close to the wall. Needless to say, I left with large amounts of hair still in place. I am also aware that there may be stubborn hairs that remain after the process but nowhere close to the amount of hair that was left on me. The lady didn't even attempt to rectify the situation using a tweezer. Unfortunately, I'm very surprised that I had such a poor experience due to the amount of favorable reviews but I do not recommend anyone visit this establishment for this service unless they are willing accept the situations listed above. read more

What a disgusting place!! I came in for the first time after reading the reviews. My eyebrows were so uneven I had to ask her three times to fix them and she agreed they weren't even. She kept making them thinner and thinner to fix so I finally told her to stop it's fine. My upper lip hurt like hell (what kind of thread is this??? It's thicker than other places) My arms I got waxed and immediately after I left they started itching. I looked down and they are covered with red bumps. I had an allergic reaction - this had NEVER happened before with other places. There are some things in life you have to be loyal to, and one of them is definitely the place that does your eyebrows! I love coming here because my eyebrows are always done nicely here. They're efficient, quick and I NEVER have a problem with their service. The cutest thing about this place is their staff remembers me and of course, that's the best kind of customer service. One time I even got my brows did somewhere else because I didn't have time to make a trip here, and the next time I came back here, the lady looked at my brows and said, " oh you're cheating on me now right?" And I had to apologize and promise I won't do it again because the other place messed them up! *crying emoji* The staff here is super attentive and makes sure many times it's the shape you want it to be. I just trust them so I let them do whatever they want. Some threading salons want you in and out the seat. But here, they let my face warm up before I'm ready especially when it's cold out. (TIP: DON'T EVER GET YOUR BROWS THREADED DURING THE WINTER THE SECOND YOU SIT DOWN. IT HURTS!!!) They also have a loyalty card, where you get a free threading after 6 times. and the price is unbelievably cheap for their location! Including tip, it should be less than $10. I cannot understand why this place has 4 stars. This was probably the WORST Brazilian waxing experience I've ever had. My friend and I decided to try out this place because we found a Groupon. Big mistake. Customer service: poor -They seemed annoyed at the fact that people were using groupons. If you don't want people to use groupons, don't put your business on there -I had a 5:30 appointment and I wasn't seen until 6. That's an absurd waiting time for a simple wax. There was no apology. Brazilian Wax:poor -I've been getting waxed for the past year and a half so I expect it to hurt but I have never had a wax this painful. I had a chocolate Brazilian wax and the lady was clearly in a rush to be done. My friend actually bled after hers. I've never heard of someone bleeding from a Brazilian. -She also kept reusing the same strip which I thought was weird. -At the end, she didn't try to remove any remnants of the wax. -I also still have some hair left behind Never again. read more

I'm somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. They are efficient and fast and convenient, which I definitely appreciate, and it seems like they really know what they are doing. The turnover rate here is high, and the prices are great. It is very no-frills, and they want to get you in and out (which is fine by me, I want my wax over with as soon as possible). I used to go to EWC and I actually prefer Waxing Studio's methods, at least for brazilian... at EWC they would get most of it off with like 2 big strips of wax which was so painful for me. At Waxing Studio they go at it with more numerous, smaller strips which I prefer. If I had to suggest one thing, it would be to maybe use hand sanitizer between clients. It's possible they do and I haven't seen it, but the times I've been I have not noticed it. They obviously use gloves for bikini area, but for other areas sans-gloves it would be reassuring to know it's 100% sanitary. read more

No frills, quick, chocolate scented Brazilian waxes for only $18 with the Yelp discount!! I normally pay $48 + $10 tip every 5 weeks or so to get waxed at my normal spot in NJ. However, I was in the city and needed to get ready for my birthday weekend. Make sure you call to make an appointment as this place is super busy. My waxer told me people come in non-stop all day! And I could see why. The prices are incredible and they use a special chocolate wax, which is suppose to be less irritating and painful. They offer other services too including threading, facials, and eyebrow/eyelash tinting. My waxer was really chill and conversational. The whole experience was really pleasant and I could not believe the price. I left a $7 tip on $18 because it was near closing and I was very pleased with the service. She gave me a card that entitles me to $18 waxes (cash only) forever. I will definitely be returning as this place is such a hidden gem! Just a note: For a $18 wax, you should tip AT LEAST $5!!!
