I have been going to Waxing the City on Mass Ave. in Cambridge for over a year. My experience has been top notch since my first treatment. I'm fairly new to waxing and the first time I ever did it, I went to another well known waxing spa. It was not a good experience and it left me hesitant to ever do it again. Well, I was attending graduate school in Cambridge, and learned this studio was nearby. I booked an open appointment and it happened to be with Rayna. Boy, was this a match made in heaven. From day one she eased my fears/concerns and made me feel like we were long time friends. I am pretty shy and self conscious about my body size and scars, but with Rayna she really comforted me. Every woman's body is unique and it's okay to just be you. Since then, I have been going pretty regularly and she takes good care of me. She also gave me tips and products that would help me since I am pretty sensitive to a lot of products. Rayna, is truly a gem and I am so happy I have someone who is so caring. Waxing the City is always a pleasant experience for me. I'm in and out and the receptionist are always kind. It's very efficient and overall a very nice studio. Where I spend my money and time is important to me as I am sure it is to everyone. Best Brazillian Wax I've ever had!!! I've been living in Cambridge for the last five years and struggled to find a wax place that I like. I saw this location recently open and was reluctant to try based on my past experiences, but have very sensitive skin and can't shave. I decided to walk in and give it a try, and they were able to fit me in the same day. The place looks super new and updated and has all types of cute decor. Ari was my waxer and she was amazing! She was super friendly and even told me how to care for my skin between waxes which I hadn't been told by other waxers. Ari was professional and pretty quick. My wax was virtually painless, and she applied pressure after pulling the strips and did smaller sections to help with my sensitive skin which really makes a big difference. I've been to other places where they just rip and go. After waxing she went in with the tweezers for a few small hairs, and I was impressed with her attention to detail as some waxers don't do that.They even have products there to buy specifically for the Bikini and I can't wait to see how they work. I learned after my service that Ari won Best of Boston this year for Bikini Wax and I know why! Im happy she's in Cambridge now! She is great! I'm so happy I took a chance and found this gem! So... I'm not sure about the review prior to mine, but let me be the FIRST to tell y'all that this location is the TRUTH. I had an EXCEPTIONAL experience here and I owe it all to my cerologist Rayna. My first trip to WTC was also my first time ever receiving a Brazilian wax, and Rayna made it as comfortable as ever. Her work station was immaculate and the music was good so I was well relaxed. Rayna works with such swiftness and precision that I was in and out in no time with the SMOOTHEST results ever. I expected so much pain but pain was MINIMAL. Through my appointment Rayna and I chatted and she educated me on the benefits of waxing. She is highly knowledgable in what she does and that made me even more inclined to make waxing a norm. I was an avid shaver and that came with some side effects, but Rayna made sure to exhaust options to me in order to reduce issues in my problem areas. I enjoyed my experience so much that I immediately became a Club Orange member and I'm making sure to have my appointments set as she can get booked quickly (she has a hefty set of clientele because her work is amazing). I have been getting waxed since I was 15 (almost 30 now) and my range of experiences has run form horrifying up to completely blissful. WTC Cambridge is all the way at that blissful end! The place is ALWAYS sparkling clean, and the staff are lovely. I have had the pleasure to get waxed (my usual is Brazilian, full arms, and lip, though the occasional leg wax and lash lift when I want to treat myself) by Rayna, Bianny, and mostly recently Noelia, who is new to the area but not to waxing -- she was fantastic!! As you can see, I'm not much of an online reviewer, but in these tough Covid times I wanted to shout out this establishment. I didn't think I would miss getting waxed (cause, you know, they're pulling hair out), but I went for the first time since they re-opened and I was amazed at how peaceful and rejuvenated I felt afterwards. So, I've literally never written a Yelp review before, but my experience here was so fantastic that I felt a strong need to be one of two reviewers to help balance out the rating. It was Valentine's Day when I visited, and though I've been waxed before, I'd never gotten a Brazilian. I was anxious, not so much about the pain (I have a high tolerance), but about the potential awkwardness of spending that much time all up in that area-- within seconds of meeting Dawn, all of that anxiety was ameliorated. She greeted me warmly, took me back to the private room, and told me what to do. The entire time I was on her table, we were cracking jokes, talking about our families, sharing stories, and I literally barely even acknowledged what else was happening because I was enjoying our conversation so much. Afterwards, she recommended some products to me which have been tremendously helpful, I paid, and left. I had my first leg and Brazilian wax ever last night at their Cambridge location. I was very nervous because I'm a chubby girl and was embarrassed to strip down. Since I've never waxed before I was not sure what to expect. Then I walked in the store. It's gorgeous inside. Total spa feel and the staff were welcoming and awesome. My cerologist was Dawn. All I can say is she was amazing. She instantly made me comfortable and I stopped being self conscious altogether. She patiently explained every step before she did it. She was funny, kind, and gentle. Of course it hurts. I expected that but she minimized it so much. I was thrilled with the results and I'll be back in a month. This is my second time getting a wax and my first time at waxing the city. I got a Brazilian wax and I usually don't get a wax because of how painful it can be but Rayna made sure to take care of me and made the experience 10 x better then what I've gotten before! She is very knowledgeable and goes out of her way to make sure you feel comfortable. She also used this eucalyptus and aloe oil that smelled so good that helps with ingrown hairs. I already booked my appointment for next month and will make sure to continue going. Rayna is a phenomenal waxing aesthetician. She always text and calls to remind me my 6 week deadline to get my Brazilian done. She always comes with a positive attitude and she gives me advice and great products to invest in for my ingrown hair problems. When I come in to her waxing room it's clean and sanitized and the room gives off homie vibes. She tells me to breath in when she is preparing to tear off the wax strip and breath out while she is actually doing it to lessen the pain. I've never written a Yelp review before but I was so happy with the results from my eyebrow waxing that I felt compelled to write one. I walked in to this place today as I was walking home, in desperate need of an eyebrow wax, and they were able to give me an appointment right away. When I need my kitty waxed my go 2 girl is Reyna. She is hands down the best . Fast and as you girls know it can be painful when you wax the vgg. But with her I legit feel little to no pain .
