It's been a while since I've eaten here since it is out of the way, inside a gas station, and doesn't have a drive through. I had a hankering for it tonight and since they don't close until 9PM, I headed on over. I arrived at 8:36PM only to be told by the three gentlemen cleaning up that they were closed despite all their information stating they are open until 9PM only Sundays and "now open late." Needless to say I will not be returning or giving Wayback Burgers my business ever again. This place was never the best to begin with so maybe I dodged a bullet or food poisoning by not eating here.

A total surprise! Really, really good burgers! Located inside a lil grocery store this little Gem popped up a couple times and today we decided why not. We were greeted warmly just soon as we walked in. Everyone is super nice and checked in on us a couple of times. The burgers, fresh and tasty and the buns are super soft! Ordered a side of onion rings and tater tots and these were equally as good. We will be back!

I was in the area and decided to try here for the first time. When going to a new place like this, will usually try something slightly different (otherwise a burger is a burger) and this time was no different. It did surprise me that it was in a gas station, which is usually hit and miss. I saw on the menu they had a "Big easy burger" and I like Cajun food, do figured might at well try it. I'm unsure what sauce they use, since nobody there could easily pronounce it, properly lol. But they did offer to let me taste it first to see what's on the burger. I decided against sampling the sauce and just tried it. Was it the best burger ever had? Not particularly, but it was a solid burger. I usually eat lunch in my car (out doing Uber eats, so easy while listening to my music), though they do have a place to sit down and eat. They also gave me a drink while I waited, though really made when you order it, but didn't take long at all. The other thing I tried was their bacon cheese fries, which is why I took away a star. It wasn't terrible, but the fries were overly salty, and used shredded cheese instead of liquid cheese, and didn't include a fork which would have made it easier to eat and less messy. Overall, menu was basic and nothing special, but food cooked after you order, so pretty fresh. It's also less greasy than many burger places do, so could eat the burger without us trying to fall apart in my hands too bad.

This is my 2nd time here. It's tucked back inside a gas station. If you don't look for it, it's likely you'll miss it. Co-workers brought me here first time and I decided to come back after a great first experience. So the restaurant side is very clean and menus easy to read. You order at counter then they bring your meal out to you. My wife decides on the Fiery bacon burger and I went with the Classic burger with cheese. We added onion rings to my burger a d a side of the bacon cheese fries. Didn't take long until our lunch came out. It all looked great! Remarkably friendly service too! My burger was awesome! The buns aren't too overpowering big and and they patties are well seasoned and taste great! My onion rings were very good. Big rings, great batter and good taste. My wife said her Fiery bacon burger was good but not very hot. We had a great experience and I'll be back. The reason for only four is that the bathrooms are disgusting. I won't go back in those bathrooms ever again. I think it's more the gas stations side.

Going South, East, or West is impossible... To turn and go East, you have 40 or 50 cars bumper to bumper waiting to make a left at the 287 freeway. Because of lane closure, going West forms one lane, to the left, still blocked by the same 40 or 50 cars bumper to bumper. To make my point better, the 40 or 50 cars waiting in line to go West, then South on 287, affects all three directions. East, West, and South. I was optimistic to make a right, then get on the access road going North. My plan was to exit soon, then make a U-turn. However, I was almost in Wichita Falls before I found a way to do this, and even then, I had to merge in traffic going 80 mph, from a stop sign crossing the medium... No acceleration lane at all... A dead stop, then an immediate left turn onto the freeway.

I know new owners took over within the last year, and we were hopeful the changes would be good. They've added trivia night and music bingo night (common schtick stuff to bring in business), there are a lot of new faces (staff and patrons), and prices have gone up while service and food quality are going down. Here's a business model idea: instead of packing the place with the karaoke night crowd, provide proper training for your staff to ensure stand-out food and service--that'll pack the place with regulars (like we used to be) who become the bread and butter of your establishment.

The portion sizes are huge which of course we loved and the menu pricing is totally reasonable too. If I find myself close by, I'll definitely be stopping be again! Perhaps on the patio next time. :)

As the community that lives around the marina we will miss this family restaurant and wish them well on their next adventure. Dear Friends, Family, and the Wonderful Community of Eagle Mountain Lake, With a heart full of gratitude and a touch of bittersweet emotion, I'm writing to share that Sammy's on the Lake will be closing its doors. Since opening in 2019, we've had the honor of serving more than just great food and lakeside views--we've had the privilege of building a community. What started as a dream quickly turned into a place where strangers became regulars, and regulars became friends who feel like family. Every laugh shared across a table, every celebration, every quiet moment watching the water together--it all means more to us than words can express. To our incredible customers: Thank you for showing up, through every season and every storm. You supported us during the hardest times, especially through the uncertainties of COVID-19 and the long, cold winter months that would have closed many other doors. Your loyalty, your warmth, your presence--it's what kept us going. To the musicians who sang, played, and entertained us--thank you for filling our space with music, energy, and soul. Your talent brought our patio to life, set the tone for countless memories, and made Sammy's more than a restaurant--it made it a place to gather, dance, and celebrate. We are so grateful for every note and every night you spent with us. To the staff who've been part of this journey: You are the heart and soul of Sammy's. Every dish, every smile, every late night--we did it all together. We love you all deeply, and we are endlessly proud of the work we did and the family we built. And to the marina owners and staff--thank you for your unwavering support and partnership over the years. You welcomed us, and helped make this little spot by the water a true home. Although this chapter is closing, we are choosing to end it with a grateful and joyful heart. Sammy's on the Lake was more than a restaurant--it was a shared dream lived out with the best people we could have asked for. And now, as we pass the torch to a new owner, The Anchor on Eagle Mountain Lake ! we hope you'll join us in welcoming them with the same warmth and support you gave us. We are excited to see what the future brings for this beautiful place we've all come to love. Thank you, from the bottom of our heart's for every memory. With love and gratitude, The Molina Family
