I used to love Clown Burger , even made special trips 20 miles across town but this time will be the last time. The food was terrible. 2 small double meat with cheese, fries and 2 drinks was $28. For that price I would think it should be a large burger. inflation is ridiculous! The burgers were really good but 1 patty was well done and the other was a little pink; I prefer both be done. The fries were greasy but good. They have a drink fountain but it's not operational yet. The cook and server are husband and wife with 2 boys. They are out of school for Thanksgiving 1 boy is watching videos for everyone to hear; I don't like to hear peoples phones and what they are watching they should wear headphones. They still have Elvis memorabilia and a wall you can sign your name or message. There is a separate room if you have a party which is nice the front has 4 eating tables and some outdoor seating. I've seen this place and apparently it's been around for a long time.So today I was looking for a place to eat and this place popped up. It's pretty much a hole in the wall and is kinda run down.Anyway I went up to the counter to order and the first thing she said is our fryer is down so we are only making burgers.I was a little disappointed but I said fine and got the double cheeseburger with a drink.The prices are pretty reasonable.As I paid her I went and sat down my burger came out.I have to say the burger is pretty simple but it's also pretty tasty.I will definitely be back and hopefully next time the fryer will be up and going.If you're in the neighborhood give this hole in the wall a shot. read more

Went there with a friend who recommended to go eat there. We both ordered a cheese burger, fries, and a drink, for 28 dollars and some change. Waited 5 minutes for our food and there was more lettuce on my burger, which was paper thin, and was very tasty. The fries were like noodles. I had heard about clown burger for ages... I had held off going in hopes to talk my friend that is a little unsure of clowns to go with me but no success on that front. It's an older building that they used to have a clown painted on the outside that apparently the landlord pained over without letting them know ahead of time. The theming is very on point; down to the fact they had It playing during my visit. (It was Halloween.) They have a really reasonably priced lunch option. Though the patties are on the small sizes; the girl checking me out only asked if I wanted another patty... the guy who checked others out asked and gave the explanation to others that came in that they are more of a smashed patty style burger patty. if you know me, you'll know i love hamburgers. I actually saw this place on a instagram feed i follow and wanted to check it out. can't believe this place has been around since 1959. this place is a no frill spot to enjoy burgers and some sides. we ended up getting a 2 patty cheeseburger and loaded fries. The cheeseburger is very very simple and almost kinda plain (at least compared to other places like in-n-out). I actually enjoyed the fries more. it comes with meat, onion, cheese whiz and jalapenos. I asked for sour cream, before i order the fries, and they said no problem and that they had it in stock. but when i got the fries, it didn't come with sour cream, and they actually didn't have any in the kitchen :( The interior is pretty interesting. Obviously you'll see lots of clown pictures and dolls, but they also have a huge section dedicated to Elvis Presley. the inside it broken down into two rooms. One main room where you order food, and the kitchen is in the back. The other room where its just seats for you to enjoy the food. its located at the corner of a pretty dead strip mall. Very mediocre at best. I expected a more flavorful burger than what I got. I saw the clown decor all over social media and was disappointed when I arrived that it's not as elaborate as it seems in camera. Stopped by for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I can tell this place had a lot of history and has a lot of interesting and unique decorations. There is definitely not another burger place like it in the area. You order at the front and can hear and smell the burgers being cooked right behind the cashier. The burger was delicious and so were the fries! I could tell they were made fresh and went great with some ketchup that they keep in cold bottles. Only down side for me was they were out of ranch and as a Texas ranch lover that hurt a little but everyone was super helpful and friendly and I had a great experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would not even go back if someone else was paying for the meal. The fries look like they were cooked in 10-year-old grease. the combo meals do not come with a drink you have to pay $2 extra for a drink. for two large hamburgers with french fries and two drinks it was over $30. While we were there another customer asked if they could have a refund because their meal was pretty much inedible and the girl behind the counter said they do not give refunds change. They offer a Frito pie on their menu but when we ask for a fork, they said they had none. they also did not have change, they had to go to the store in the same parking lot to get change for a customer.and i don't understand why the card receipt says Haltom Chinese that in itself is weird read more

Understand this is a nostalgia trip to a place that has changed little since the 1960's. It redefines hole-in-the wall, in an old, small, strip center, in an older part of town. It tastes like a 1960's thin-burger hamburger joint (meaning that in the best possible way). The decor may be that old. The paint may even be that old. If you are down with that and want to walk back through the time warp for an hour to when you were young you will probably enjoy it too. It is a bit out of the way and some distance from where I live. But every so often I'm ready to make the drive. read more

We read the reviews before going and still decided to try it out. Wouldn't recommend, please avoid if you care about your HEALTH. The floors were super sticky and nothing looked to clean. Our fries tasted like they were freezer burned, and I think they reused the paper they put our fries in because it had some dirty residue already smeared in it, looked kinda like ketchup and they only put mustard on the burgers. They got the order wrong, the burger patties are paper thin and you're paying a lot for what you get. It was 20.00 for two burgers and fries no drinks. in and out is cheaper. They didn't even put a full slice of tomato, onion or lettuce on it. Nothing special outside of the weird clown and cool Elvis decor. Also it's CASH ONLY now. To emphasize on cleanses, they gave us a piece of trash with our change back. If you guys still decide to try it like we did, good luck. read more

The service was slow but friendly, real mom and pop setting, Interior is old school and looks run down. The building is getting am outside face lift stating with the sidewalk. I'll start this off by saying that if you haven't had Clown Hamburger by now, you've missed out on one of, if not THE best burger in DFW. No doubt in my mind. The new owners have really done a spectacular job and the burger I had today may've been (and likely was) the best burger I've ever had in my life. I've eaten here once before the new ownership and it was still great, but today really set the bar for me and for my money, everyone else who makes burgers. The atmosphere is a little dingy, I'll be honest. But, that adds an authentic charm to a place that can't be mimmicked or fakes. True authenticity. You truly are in a one-of-its-kind type of place. It's an interesting mix of Elvis and Clowns, but just the right amount if there's such a thing. The menu isn't vast because it doesn't need to be. Why waste time or money offering a _________ when you make burgers this amazing. They offer burgers, dogs, canned sodas and all the amazing fried sides you could want. We only had their fries but I was very tempted to get the onion rings. The burgers: thin patties, diner-style, the Texas way; lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and mustard. God's way. You can get grilled onions and I'm certain they have other options but I kept it pure. Cheese isn't included, but in my opinion it's required. The buns were fresh, the cheese was perfect and the veggies were fresh and crispy. While thin, the patties are perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of crunch around the edges. Cooked perfectly. The thinner patties (which come in two sizes, large and small) lend themselves to being stacked so a double is recommended. The burgers are also priced well, whereas my only criticism was the seemingly high cost of the sides. But, I also know that protein costs in a restaurant are the highest so they have to make their returns somewhere and sides are excellent real-estate for profit. Not a ton of seating but it's also not a large building; I wouldn't wanna be cramped beside everyone so it's actually pretty perfect as far as seating. It is cash-only, so be sure to come prepared. The staff was friendly and even while catching them at a busy time, they were still courteous and hospitable. I will 100% return and explore the rest of their food, and I'm eager to try their hot dogs. Please give this place a visit and if you're not blown away with how delicious their burgers are then you should probably just stick to McDonald's. read more

Wife and I decided to have lunch there and check out the new ownership.We walked to the counter and a chubby blond with a ton of makeup and oversized fake eye lashes was talking to 4,employees about something with her back to us the entire time. My wife told me to be calm give her a chance. After 5 minutes she still hasn't acknowledged us, then finally turns toward the sandwich station still not speaking to us. This was the owner!!!! Stumble across this gem, while I was in search of something greasy, to assist with my recovery after a long night. First off, Clown Burger is all good as it gets! It's very down-home, small, some would say it could be consider a "hole-in-the wall" joint. However, it's bigger than it seems with a nice burger joint feel. The walls are filled with antique posters, store cases filled with Grease dolls, which only enhance the ambiance. The burger is amazing! Fresh beef served daily, buns are toasted to perfection which provides a nice crisp with every bite. Burgers are very traditional, toppings are plentiful, served with fresh fries. I think you have to be a little older to fully appreciate Clown Burger. It's very retro, although I don't think it's trying to be. It's been around for 51 years, so without making changes, it's going to come off as retro. That being said, the burgers and hot dogs at Clown Burger are perfectly acceptable. Clown Burger is not trying to be something it's not. Clown Burger serves up good solid food in a very entertaining environment (clowns parachuting from the ceiling, an Elvis memorial in one corner, the Belknap Room). So next time you have a craving for a burger, or a chili dog, and some fries, you should give Clown Burger a try. It is a very good dining experience. PS. Best Burger in the world. My dad showed me this place 20 years ago and it still has the best burger I've ever had. It takes a while and it's cash only but well worth the wait. They usually run out of meat and are open at awkward times for not very long. If you have not been here, you need to take your chances and try to catch it when it's open.
