We dine at chaps a lot. The past three times that we have been, we have been disappointed. We always order the loaded cheese fries. Past three times we have sent them back asking to melt the cheese. This last time I actually took a picture of the second time our fries came out after sending them back. The cheese is still not melted to the way you would expect cheese fries. My boyfriend and I went to Chapps about 45 minutes ago and ordered 2 cheesesteaks to go. Got home to eat it and it was so salty. There's was so much salt that I couldn't continue eating it. I've always had the Philly steak sandwiches and they were really good but this time me and my wife went up there to have their cheeseburgers. I had a bacon cheeseburger and she had the mushroom burger. They were Boat overcooked the patties. The buns were toasted too much and then we ordered a side of onion rings. They brought us pieces of onion rings, and I had to return them to get full size onion rings. I don't know about the rest of their food, but I can say they're Philly steak sandwiches were always good, but the burgers are overcooked the patties they need to be at least medium not well done and the bacon should be not two days old. We met relatives in Dallas for lunch here. We all had burgers and the kids had chicken tenders. The beef was exceptionally good. They serve Nolan Ryan beef which I didn't know till today existed. Very tasty rich beef burgers. The staff was friendly and helpful as we had a large party and many questions and they were patient through that. That Baby Chapps burger was delicious!!! I knew that's exactly what I wanted as soon as I saw "angus beef." I added onions, Swiss cheese, pickles, tomatoes and a little mayo. Perfect! Also, the fries are homestyle, not crinkle. These taste like they're made from scratch and they are cooked a little more than other places, which I like. I don't like soft, soggy fries. I am so sad about my experience here tonight. I brought my kids here for dinner and as I was ordering I sent all three to wash their hands and when they came back, both bathrooms had small roaches in them. I finished ordering and went to the restroom to wash my hands and on my way back to our table I killed a roach that was coming out from behind the counter. As we were eating, a couple sitting across the way from us killed three and on our way out the door the table closest to the door had one crawling under the table. Not to mention my order was incorrect. Always frustrating when you have to pick items off your burger you didn't order... Overheard two other patrons say their orders were made incorrectly as well during my visit. It wasn't busy at 1:30 pm only 3 -4 families so I'm not sure why so many mistakes. My colleague treated me to a burger (which I don't often turn down) after a good golf game (yeah, I work with solid people). We walked in on a Monday early afternoon to a mostly empty lobby with plenty of open seating. I took up my friend's recommendation to get the Knockout Burger and I'm sure glad I did! The restaurant was almost empty on a Tuesday night. I ordered the Zkinny and The Works fries. The grilled zucchini was the only thing edible. The burger on top of the zucchini was cut up bits of burnt beef. The fried onion was cold and I didn't get my order of The Works. When I asked about the order, I got a cold glob of fries with some shredded cheese and 5 slices of jalapeno on it...no ranch. I asked for ranch but never got it. What a disappointment in the size of the orders! The onions were exactly 2 fair sized ones, 1 medium one, and 2 tiny ones (all for close to $4!!). My friend and I visited this location and order two small Chapps burgers with double cajun fries. The burgers were pretty big to be the jr. size and the quantity of fries were also large. The burger was very flavorful and the cajun seasoning on the fries made it that much better. Only complaint is the fries were very limp, I would order them extra crispy if you want a crunch. More like 4.5 I wish I had tried this place sooner because I was missing out on some seriously great burgers & fries! I've ordered to-go a few times during covid and it hasn't dissapointed. The burgers are huge, cooked perfectly, and taste great. The cajun fries are my favorite fries now. My favorite burgers & fries used to be five guys, but this place definitely has them beat. The overall cost ends up being totally worth it. Oh and they have great ranch! My only small complaints would be that I wish they had more condiments/sauces to go on the burgers other than mayo, mustard, and ketchup. And the price for extra toppings is a bit off. It costs $1 for each one like avocado, egg, bacon, grilled mushrooms, grilled jalapeños. $1 for egg, bacon, and avocado is standard, but mushrooms and jalapenos are usually cheaper. First visit to this location and either the Chapps menu has changed, or this menu is different from Keller. I've always loved "The Big Dog" which is not on the NRH menu. The specialty burger choices seems to have changed around a bit as well. That aside, it's the same high quality Nolan Ryan beef patty, good toppings and very good fries. I chose grilled onions and mushrooms with mustard this time, which didn't disappoint. The décor is nice, restaurant clean and the service is fast, so it's a good option in the area. Atmosphere is somewhat modern and the dinning room is nicely decorated. This truly fits the bill as a sit down restaurant that serve craft burgers at reasonable prices.The presentation of food is good and portions are more than adequate. Food quality was good, all fresh ingredients and my burger was cooked to perfection. Chapps' is in the same upper tier group as Chop House Burger and Snuffers. Yummy. It's not exactly like I remember but it's pretty darn delicious. We ordered the baby Chapps combo and it was plenty for my 16 year old and even filled him up. The fries are delicious, bun soft, and toppings perfect. My only advice is don't order too fast - let them ask you the questions they need to in order to get your burger right.
