Here we are in the middle of August, and I am told that I have to wait up to 8 weeks to get my DR Field and Brush Mower repaired after an Amazon truck ran over it and myself (I'm 80 in a few days and now handicapped), the mower is desperately needed now in prime season for an important event in less than 10 days, I was told repeatedly that the delay is so they can prepare snowblowers first, in August. But then "August" does sort of remind us of the disappointment and "disgust" that a kinder more appropriate solution couldn't be found. You decide if you think you will be treated fairly there... This story is short, but not so sweet. I bought new push mower at a big box store this spring. It worked for two months (maybe 4 - 5 mows), then started dying. I contacted the manufacturer, and they provided a list of places that work on machines under warranty. Drop the machine off on a Friday; get a call on Monday that it's all set. Go down to the shop to pick it up and am promptly asked how I'd like to pay. I ask about the work being under warranty. Owner informs me that he had to rebuild the carburetor, and that is standard maintenance. Decided to pay the $80 to take it home with me and get some yard work done and have appealed the charge to the manufacturer. Figured there's no reasoning with an old man who'll tell you it's standard to spend $80 "maintaining" a shiny new lawn mower, and he can probably charge more to self-pay customers than on warranty work he'd need to submit paperwork to the manufacturer for. Anyways, the lawn mower now works but I'd never go back here. read more

I took my 10-year old generator to them in November 2011 to repair the pull starter. I use the generator only during power outages, so the next time I used it was this October (Hurricane Sandy). The pull starter failed after working 3 times. Took it back to them, expecting they'd fix it for free - WRONG. The guy there claims - if you don't use it regularly and you keep it in the garage, you should expect the pull starter to fail in less than a year! The first (original) pull starter worked for 10 years...so, I'll never go back. read more

Bought a Husq Rancher saw. Price was non-negotiable and about 10% higher than on Amazon. They promised they set it up better than Amazon and warranty. The cashier was cliche sales rep which was off-putting. I ended up having to return two more times to get it working properly. read more

These guys have a good reputation and have been around a long time. We've had them repair our snowblower, mower and other yard equipment. They seem to do good work in a timely manner, and their pickup/drop-off service is very convenient. But they're expensive - even minor adjustments/repairs end up costing $100 or more, and they always seem to find a lot wrong with your stuff when you take it in. read more

Do not use these people. They are crooks. They will milk you. They will give you a quote but then they will call you and tell you they found some things wrong and it is going to cost more than the mower is even worth. When you tell them no, you want them to stick to the original quote, they still charge you double when you go to pick it up and they say something like "our quote did not include labor and replacement parts." Then when you get home your mower does not even work. These guys are the worst. Do not use them. read more

I came here after speaking with an MTD customer service rep who told me that I could bring the mower blade I ordered online which was the incorrect size to them instead of having to ship it back to MTD at my expense. Sounded great. Not sure the name of the employee who I spoke with, but he was incredibly rude and unfriendly to me for no reason. Turns out MTD didn't need me to bring this blade to them after all, but this guy clearly has no customer service skills. I will never go back and suggest no one else do either read more

I am a professional landscape contractor (47 years) and I make a point of buying my lawn mowers at Wayland Power. I have done business with them for thirty years. It is a family owned and run business and their service can be a little gruff at times, but they are good people and overwhelmed with business. The mechanics are good technicians and good people as well. I read some of the less than flattering reviews. When a place is overwhelmed with seasonal business, the price SHOULD go up even if it might be a little longer to get your machine serviced. My suggestion is to bring your snow blower in during the summer, your mower during March, buy a spare blade so you don't need one sharpened "tomorrow" and discuss your concerns about delivery and warranty and service BEFORE you leave their store. In general, whenever you want better service give the techs a few bucks and you will move up the list. You may not like it, but it works! read more

It's a Miracle ! Customer Service like I could not believe ! I have a snow blower that I have them service every three years and the other times, I change the oil / plugs myself. This was the year to take it in for service, especially after the heavy use last year. They picked up the blower, serviced it and then delivered it to my home. My wife asked "Did you put chains on the tires ?" I looked and sure enough, there they were ! Yikes, more money I didn't need to spend. I thought about it for a day or two and then said why should I pay for something I didn't request for or need ? I called them up expecting some tension. I asked why they put the chains on and a nice service person, Bill, said that he would look up the paperwork and call me back. He called back ! He said that he looked at the paperwork and I was right ! Can you believe . . . He said "I was right !" I have not heard that from a business in a VERY long time. He said that he would refund my money and I could keep the chains. Yup, it's a Miracle ! Sure enough, two days later there was a credit for the Full amount including the sales tax on my credit card. A few days after that, I received the paperwork mailed to my home that the credit was applied to my card. I still may remove the chains since they are not needed, but I just could not believe the outcome and there was no stress or arguments, Just Excellent Customer Service ! I rarely write reviews, but I thought you all should know . . . there are a few good businesses out there and I thank them for their service. Great Customer Service ! It's a Miracle ! read more

Business owner Francis P. has replied to my comment and it's nice to see I've finally gotten some attention from this company. A couple of key clarifications worth pointing out: (1) I was quite clear on 5/15 when I left off my lawnmower, that I was not interested in a repair job that cost over $100 and certainly not $150, as I could replace the mower for not much more. It was with Bill's clear statement that a carburetor repair would run around $80 that i decided to leave the required $30 deposit. (2) They left no message on my phone until I called them on 5/24 from my cell phone asking what was happening. They left a message on my home phone that day even though I'd told them I'd be out of town and had left them my cell phone number to use when the estimate was ready. Guess they got that mixed up, We finally connected that day and, much annoyed, I instructed them to go ahead with the new, and nearly double, estimate for the carburetor repair. I called again 6 days later on 5/30 to see if the repair had been done. Bill told me they hadn't gotten my go ahead. So I gave it again. Two days later on 6/1, I called again around 9 am to see if the mower was ready and got some vague answer (after some prodding) that they they'd try to get to it done by noon. Twenty minutes later I got a call that the repair was done. How strange --I got billed for a full hour of mechanic's time!!! (3) The air filter, which I'd seen, needed a little cleaning with soap and water. They shoe-horned in a new air filter, which was not a perfect match, racking up additional charges. (4) Each time I called, if I spoke to a different desk clerk, the new one seemed totally unaware of what had gone on before with the order. I have yet to actually pick up my show blower purchase, but I can tell you this: Bill, who seems to be their main counterman, is extremely knowledgeable regarding all of what they sell and more; his familiarity with the machines is broad and deep, as he has a good historical perspective on what lasts and what typically doesn't when it comes to snowblowers. He spent a good deal of time with me at the showroom, translating the various specs and features into what they might mean to me in terms of how I'd experience them. And he just spent another half hour on the phone with me in further discussion, explaining some of the finer points of the machine I paid for already vs a different model I'm thinking of getting instead - with no hint of impatience, no sense of, "Geez, mister, we went over all this already, you bought, you own it." You can't ask for more than this, at least at this stage of the game. In addition, I'm a firm believer in independent businesses, and if I'm making a purchase like this, I really want to talk with someone with that kind of experience, as opposed to some jack-of-all-trades at Home Depot who doesn't really know what they're selling. I'm willing to pay a little more for that expertise and all it implies for the future, and yet Wayland's prices were very competitive. I highly recommend them. And thanks, Bill. read more

This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I ordered a snow blower through Home Depot and received a call that my snow blower was set to be delivered by Wayland Power Equipment. Dealing with Wayland Power Equipment was an awful experience and I cannot believe how poorly they treat their customers over the phone. I cancelled my order since there are plenty of places to buy snow blowers and I don't need to give this horrible business my money. read more

I live in Holliston and own a 25 year old Husqvarna riding mower , I have been there a couple of times trying to get a part for it and both times the same gentleman has waited on me , I believe he's the owner and he has helped me over and above with getting the proper part number even knowing that if he didn't have it in stock I probably wouldn't be purchasing it from him because I didn't want to drive back from Holliston to pick it up if he had to order it from Husqvarna. He will even give me the part number so I can order it and have it shipped to my house. This guy is the real deal when it comes to a business owner and all business owners should take a page from his book . He's very knowledgeable and you know that it's not just about making a buck with him and even though I've never had him work on any of my power equipment I have no problem in giving him a 5 star review. My husband dropped off our snow blower here with an understanding of $15-30 bucks for a replacement cable. I went to pick up the machine this week and new I was in trouble after hello. The owner, Frank, is a very nasty, rude and grouchy old man. He told me to speak up in a horrible tone after not being able to hear my last name and then proceeded to tell me I owed him $86 for the repair. I told him that was not at all what he quoted my husband. He informed me that they just fixed the cable (not a new one) and inflated a flat tire (we didn't have a flat on drop off nor did they call us to ask if we wanted it fixed) and then charged us $72 for one hour of labor. When I expressed my unhappiness he started yelling and told me to get out of his store and come back next week he was too busy. I informed him that I was not leaving and I wanted the labor removed from the bill. He walked away and went into his dirty little office. A younger individual came out and I explained my issues. He informed me that all he could do for me was to take the snowblower back deflate the tire and unhook the cable and I could walk away with no charge but i'd have to come back for that since they were so busy. In the mean time the owner came back to the front and I again tried to speak with him and in front of employees and customers told me that I was an idiot. To say I was shocked would be putting it mildly. My husband called to let him know how unhappy he was and Frank hung up on him. To anyone thinking of going there - beware. They are horrible. They don't give a crap about their customers and they are only out to scam peoples money. To charge us $85 and not even put a new cable on is insane. Of course we will NEVER go there again. read more
