I waited for management to respond to me about my experience @ the hotel. Since they didn't, here is my review. I booked two rooms the first week of October. The rooms were a very sad decor, but you can see from the photos. What I didn't expect for $400.00 a night, for each room, was that they don't turn on the heat until a first frost? When I called down freezing at 11:00pm, I was told that they would bring me a cotton blanket and a "space heater!" I didn't know how cold I was going to get and didn't feel comfortable with a space heater, I got the blanket. At one am I got up & put on more clothes, took every towel and made a sleeping bag to roll up in. ( I didn't know my daughter had done the same thing in her room.) In the morning I told the front desk person that we had frozen all nigh...the desk guy shrugged and said, "well they just don't turn the heat on until they have to, that's why they have space heaters!" I said please have some one from management call me to refund my rooms, never heard a word, called left messages, even wrote in the email review they sent saying get in touch before I go to Yelp and warn people about the space heaters! The Wayne Hotel is the most expensive camping on the Main Line. Should you be forced to stay there, bring your own sleeping bag, warm socks, a sleep hat and a space heater! Whenever I go to visit the college I graduated from I stay at Wayne Hotel. It's a cute little hotel located right on Lancaster Ave. It's within walking distance of a lot of great stores and restaurants. The rooms are very clean and the staff is friendly. They even have old fashioned hotel keys on a big key chain (that you can leave with the front desk when you go out). We just went and it was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The complimentary continental breakfast is a nice touch. Its basic but the pastries are delicious and has fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc. I will definitely stay here again. read more

I've been staying at the Wayne hotel for the last several years as a respite away from mothering and work. It's always a wonderful experience and the rooms are always pristine I've stayed in all the levels~~The service of the hotel is excellent and the restaurants that have been part of the hotel over the years have been amazing the current one being Rosalie. Wayne holds a special place in my heart because that's where I spend my undergrad years and I always love going back to visit at surrounding Wayne are beautiful preserves Chanticleer Garden and amazing shops and restaurants. It's wonderful for a couple or a single person to truly enjoy space to breathe. Something that is worth noting is the construction of the hotel is so well done that once you're in your room you really feel like you're in a room away from everything and can barely hear anything on the outside. read more

We spent our wedding night in the bridal suite and it was awesome!! The room was huge, the bathroom the size of our kitchen and the hotel full of charm. We only stayed one night, so I only met a few of the staff members and had only one free breakfast but everyone was nice and the continental breakfast a-ok. The location is perfect!! I've stayed here many times and i love the hotel. It's charming and the staff has always been terrific. The restaurant downstairs, the Paramour, is excellent: food and service are wonderful. The menu is outstanding, inventive and delicious. We stayed here this time for a wedding and it was really done right -- I understand the hotel put most of it together. They had a full dinner at the reception with 3 entrees and I and many at our table had the tenderloin. Amazing that they served probably a dozen of them at the same time and they were all cooked to perfection. With lovely compliments of seasonal veggies. The brunch at Paramour is fantastic with little amuse bouche plates you choose up near the kitchen before you order arrives. All so delicious. The breakfasts were HUGE and really good. My sisters pancakes were 12 inches across, 3 of them and we all helped her finish them...so good! The coffee was excellent too. Nice and strong. Looking forward to coming back. I stayed at this hotel and it was lovely. The staff was friendly and it was very cute. Only thing that's weird is if you walk in the front doors you walk right into the restaurant rather then the hotel lobby. To walk into the lobby you use a side entrance. My room was lovely and when I walked in it felt like a dream. Beautiful updated bathroom. Beautiful sheer White drapes. Big fluffy bed. Nice closet. I was coming from a terrible experience in the city and this felt so incredible! The lobster bisque soup I was great at the restaurant and a chocolate cake for dessert. I loved both. I usually have more of a modern taste when it comes to my home and traveling accommodations but for this being an older hotel in an adorable old Pennsylvania town/city, this place was perfect! Parking is confusing the first time you pull in but staff was very pleasant and good with explaining where to park. They are handicap friendly (just have to go in the restaurant part) and there is an elevator. There are rooms that have updated bathroom and although we didn't get it this time around, the "older" bathrooms are still very nice! Staff was very pleasant; rooms were clean with a cozy bed; continental breakfast does the job if you needed something quick; location is perfect in the cute town; and we got a great deal when we called to book our room. We got the king deluxe room. The room was nice, clean, and well maintained. The TV and other appliances worked well. The windows however were quite dirty. The room price varied between $149 and $189 for the three nights we stayed which I think ended up being much too expensive for what we actually got. The wifi in the room was very bad. Maximum speed was 5 Mbps and it would cut out pretty often. Just watching YouTube on my phone was hit-or-miss. The included breakfast was also very poor. Drink choices were just orange juice, coffee, or tomato juice. Things to eat were just yogurt, bagels, danishes, and cereal. I expected a lot more for the price. read more

Had my concerns when I arrived... There was an odd smell like old grease and the service was off. BUT... I was one of first guests arriving after record blizzard the day before . So cudos to the staff for being there. I think one guy had stayed at the hotel for couple of days. Bar prices I think are high. I ordered a double Hennessy $38 bucks. Too much should be $18-20. they don't have a fitness center and you're on your own to get to the one at the radnor about 1.5 miles away. The smell was gone over night. I must say the place is quiet and I had a great nights sleep. Continental breakfast was on par with industry average. We had a group dinner In the evening which everyone enjoyed but several of the filets were cooked incorrect temps. Food was good not great. Overall I didn't find anything wrong or worth going out of my way to come back again. read more

The Wayne Hotel is a converted 1800's mansion in the 1800's. The hotel has recently gone through a complete renovation and it is gorgeous! The staff is professional and very hospitable. I always suggest this hotel when anyone asks me where they should stay. If you wish to stay at the hotel during The Devon Horse Show, you just might want to book your room as early as possible. The sell out fast! Their new restaurant and bar are top notch. Chef is innovative, uses locally grown produce, meats and fish and their Cosmos are the best in town. Extensive, good wine list which carries some of my favorites. read more

I feel like I was saying in a close friend's home instead of staying at a hotel. Now granted to this friend was very rich and sort of eccentric, but I had a wonderful time. The staff was very polite, the rooms were small but well appointed, and you couldn't ask for a more beautiful common area. My only suggestion would be to try and have some kind of convenience area with drinks and other small foods. As somebody who stays 6 to 10 days at each hotel that becomes more and more important. On the good side this is the best internet that I have had at any hotels in the Philadelphian suburban area. also, the parking is absolutely fantastic. and it is a true pleasure to be staying in a room above the finest restaurant in Wayne. read more

Brunch at Paramour reflects the same style, quality and attention to detail that our guests have come to expect". That's a quote from their menu. Clearly, this Sunday they had some staffing issues. It was a beautiful day and brunch on the front porch seemed perfect. sunny and a great breeze. We were seated, received menus and then...that was the last time we saw any staff. We had to look for a waitress. 18 min later. We ordered our drinks and meal at the same time fearing this may be the last time we saw anyone. The service was slow and could definitely be improved. The food was delicious and I would go back but maybe not tomorrow. My advice, hire more staff! and train them. read more

Stayed Tuesday 1/1 for our 20th anniversary. The whole evening was soured hours before we got there when we got an email saying the restaurant would not open despite 3 confirmation emails and a requirement of 24 hours if we were to cancel. Clearly they don't hold themselves to same standard when we get an 11:30am email saying they've decided to close. I spoke to restaurant manager who made a reservation at another restaurant for us (which I appreciated although it was only an average place) and put a $10 bottle of Brut in our room for the inconvenience. Pretty classless for a near $200 a night hotel room and a restaurant that would cost in excess of that for dinner. So I can't judge Paramour for its food, it may be as good as advertised. The hotel itself is clean and the beds excellent. The decor was odd as they can't decide if they're historic or retro. (Orange sofa in room with dated, but nice, wooden furniture). The highlight was unquestionably The Goat's Beard around the corner. Great place to have a drink and happy hour. Also Autograph Brasserie was fantastic. My parents and I stayed at Wayne Hotel this past weekend, after hearing rave reviews about the hotel's restaurant, ambience, and service. While the neighborhood was quaint and lovely, the amenities at this hotel were not. Biggest disappointment: We arrived with a ton of luggage, late Saturday night., after a 7 hour flight. No one was there, or offered to help us with our bags, and the staff member at the front desk was less than attentive. The continental breakfast was very basic and minimalist in its offerings. The rooms were fine: clean and cozy. The mattresses felt a little lumpy. However, the room-service staff was friendly and were great in tidying up the room. To the hotel's credit, it must be said that the hotel was and is currently undergoing massive amounts of renovation, which may have contributed to the haphazard, slipshod service. The well-reputed brunch dine-in was unavailable, and the entire hotel lobby reeked of paint. If you must stay overnight at this hotel, check it out post-renovations. read more

The hotel rooms and continental breakfast were nice, however our experience with the staff was less than satisfactory. The start of my dissatisfaction began months before my stay at the Wayne Hotel. I had my wedding at a nearby venue in Wayne so I wanted to block off rooms for my out of town guests. I contacted the hotel approximately 3 months before the event to do so. I was first told that the manager was the only one who could negotiate blocked rooms and I was told they would call back in a few days. 2 weeks went by with no call so I called again. They looked in the back room and said they had located my request, but again the manager wasn't there so they would have to call back. Another week passed and I again had to call them. Finally, this time they said that they could proceed with the blocked rooms. They offered $20 off the base rate, but I had to sign a contract. I was a little hesitant, as I hadn't experienced entering into a contract with a hotel, but I said I'd look it over. They didn't send the contract for several more days and I had to call them again to prompt them to send the contract. Once I received the contract, I wasn't pleased by some of the provisions. One of them said if a certain percentage of my guests canceled their rooms that I would be personally responsible for the full balance of the canceled rooms. When I questioned them about this they said it had never happened except when hurricane Sandy hit and they didn't enforce it. Why the heck is it in the contract then? I chose to forgo the contract and the discount, somewhat disgusted with the whole affair. I did go ahead and book my room at the full price. Mind you this was all before my actual stay. So a few days before my stay I called to see if I could extend my reservation by an extra day. They told me they had completely canceled my reservation because I hadn't returned the contract. I was flabbergasted. Luckily they still had rooms and I told them that I was still planning on staying at the hotel, so please reinstate my reservation. Upon check in my wife was alone and had lots of luggage and she said that the front desk didn't offer to help with the luggage and seemed annoyed when she requested help. The bell staff was very nice however. We were somewhat surprised that there wasn't anything special prepared in our rooms, as this was our wedding. We had traveled in other hotels when upon learning about our honeymoon made grand gestures of flower petals, complimentary champagne and even towel swans sculptures. No such effort or even kind words were offered to us at the Wayne Hotel. After our wedding some of the guests were gathered in the room, apparently there were noise complaints and the front desk called and asked is to keep it down. We reduced our volume however they returned twice more and said they were having continual complaints. We grew tired of the badgering so we ended our revelry because of the relentless calls from the front desk. In summary, nice rooms, but my guests and I had a constant sense that the staff were somewhat haughty and weren't really interested in making our stay fun or special on our wedding day. I would also suggest they make the room blocking process more streamlined and customer friendly. Addendum: After posting this review the front desk let us know at check out that they had read this Yelp review and they would soon write a response. They also, for the first time, congratulated us on our wedding. However, I thought it was a little sad that it took a negative review for them to do so. read more

The question on everyone's mind all weekend was, "Are the owners rich and don't care, or simply just don't care?" The building was old and cool, but the service was just awful when it was anything besides indifferent. While there were many instances of staff not being bothered to get something or to move, the best was on Saturday afternoon. Mind you, we were in town for an afternoon wedding, 4 o'clock. We got back at 1 after breakfast and found every single room on our floor stripped while the maid was making them up, assembly line style. She was still working another hour later, at which point I started making up the room myself because we needed to get ready. We all realize it's much faster and easier for the staff to strip rooms in this style, but being locked out of our room for hours on Saturday afternoon was unacceptable. Our cousins and aunts and uncles had the same issue on a separate floor, waiting for the room to be finished. They and we were told that the maid staff starts later on the weekends, which makes absolutely no sense, as most weekday travelers are out of the room early, while the thought of laying around one's hotel room on a Saturday afternoon on vacation is kind of a nice thing. Make sure you let them know when you're coming and going, otherwise they'll rip your room down for hours Outside of that specific instance, there were many others, generally most times (though not all) we interacted with the staff. Ordered drinks never showed up, waiters told us to go ask someone else, we asked for another blanket and were met with a challenge "did you use the one already there", we were told our Saturday night party after the wedding could not be accommodated in the bar (at 10pm!), waiters acted like they were giving three-star service, but didn't remember water, being constantly asked what room we were in so staff could be certain we weren't stealing coffee in the morning. It went on and on. It's a pretty place, but don't expect anything more than that. read more

I loved this charming hotel--from the beautiful front porch, lobby and bar area to the warm welcome from the staff! Everything you would want from a hotel. The rooms are well appointed, the beds and pillows are comfy and all very clean. The neighborhood is an easy 1 block walk to shops, great coffee, a myriad of restaurants/bars and even the train station, should you want to go into town without a car. Good continental breakfast with great breads and croissants, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, etc. I would stay again when I am in the area. read more

I stayed for work. It came close to 5 stars, but not quite. The room was immaculate. I've never seen cleaner bedding or towels. The bed and bathroom/shower were brand new and amazing. However, I was expecting the Hotel Dupont...this isn't quite in that stratus. Beware of the rooms with the King Bed: my room was small and not well lit. Unlike some other reviewers, I had a very good experience with the staff. Based on posts by other reviewers, you might get a 5 star experience if you opt for a bigger room. read more

My husband woke up around midnight and was listening to a lecture on YouTube while I was sleeping next to him. I was awoken by loud knocking on our door by a hotel employee who in a rude manner told me they could hear our TV or computer in the hallway. While I appreciate their looking out for the comfort of their guests, I didn't appreciate the rude tone that I was spoken too given that we are paying customers And we could hear our neighbors through the walls and didn't complain. Funny that I was asleep while the video played right next to me so couldn't have been too loud. If they're really concerned with the comfort of their customers they should have better sound proofing.....and train their employees to speak to customers with respect. read more

My most recent stay was a disappointment. The room was lovely and clean. The food at the restaurant, Paramour, was delicious. The staff was not the friendly, kind staff that I have encountered in my past stays. When arriving, the front desk staffers did not greet me for about a minute. I stood there awkwardly awaiting them to acknowledge me. I could barely hear the person helping me check in after I was acknowledged. There was no feeling of being welcomed or common courtesy being displayed. After I was given the keys, another staff member stood right in front of me with a cart of beverage containers. He did not acknowledge or say a word to me as we patiently waited for the elevator. I had many bags but he went ahead and entered the elevator and closed the elevator doors. As a guest of the hotel, I was hoping for an explanation or comment on how he needed to take the elevator first and why I wasn't invited in. Very rude. I am very disappointed with the service of the staff I encountered at my check in and at the elevator. First impressions are important. I have not had this experience in the past so I am hopeful it was just a few staff members. Either way, check in should be a pleasant experience. It sets the tone for the stay. On a positive note, our waiter at Paramour and the hostess were very courteous and attentive. read more

My sister has ALS that has progressed and can no longer climb the stairs in our family home. My company frequently uses the Wayne hotel for out of towners when we run a course at a nearby hospital. Everything is always on mark, from the food, to service, to the rooms. A particular standout is Mehti ( spelling? ), who is always on top of everything!. He overheard me tell a colleague I was not enjoying the drink I ordered, which was my fault cause I ordered the wrong thing, plus he didn't even make it. He promptly asked what I would like instead...It's a level of service I don't seem to come across very much lately, and I hope his employer is aware of his efforts! read more
