Good food we eat there quite often. Scones are huge! Omelettes are good as well. I go there at least once a 2 times a week

I work here but our families all eat here all the time. Yummy homemade food. Breakfast 24/7 2 homemade soup daily. Can't be beaten. Veal Parmesan is my absolute favorite. Also Chef salad or Crispy chicken salad. My kids are fans of biscuits and gravy! read more

My family loves Wayside Cafe. When we travel to SLC, we have stop in. The staff is amazing. Food is American. But iits hot and good We stopped in as we were traveling to SLC for emergency medical procedure. SuziQ was awesome. We needed coffee since it was just after midnight and we still had 3 hours to go. Husband & I are on a two week road trip. Been eating at some interesting places. This little gem is off the beaten path. I think many of the customers are locals and truckers. I had the fried chicken dinner. It came with real mashed potatoes, choice of brown or white gravy (I chose brown) veggies and small salad. It was all very tasty. Chicken was a little over cooked, but still tasty. Veggies were probably mixed frozen veggies, but I ate every morsel so they were good, not over cooked like you sometimes get. Husband got the tomato macaroni soup. He really liked it. Said it was not salty like some soups. I got the lemon meringue pie. Husband got the blue berry pie a la mode. Mine was a little too sweet, but tasty. He ate everything on his plate, so I guess that's a good sign. Great place in the middle of nowhere! read more

The waitress I'm sad I didn't catch her name was amazing tonight. Very friendly and sweet to my autistic son. She made him comfortable and didn't mind that he was very interested in what she was doing. She even let him help her wipe a table. Gave him a few dollars for his help. We visited here a couple weeks back it's one of the places around here that the locals rave about being the best. So we were pretty excited to go give their breakfast a try. It's seat yourself and this being a cute little old cafe it is the seats of the booths were extremely worn down. Big holes and cuts in most the booths. Of course we sat anyways. Looking at the breakfast meant they don't have a a lot of meals. Just bunch of random breakfast items like 1 pancake two Pancake or one biscuit and gravy or two. Seems like you order a bunch of fandoms and side and make a meal out of it. They do however have two meal options and they are located right top corner. Which is what my husband order. Soooo much food for your money the portions are huge. But... this all seemed like food you could make from home. Cheap items you could pick up from your local grocery store and make. Probably won't be back again. It wasn't bad but just wasn't amazing. Nothing special or to ride home about. I think a lot of the love comes from the locals who have been going for years. read more

Yelp has not let us down again! Found this gem of a diner....we've driven by this place for 20 years and had never taken the time to stop until tonight. We pulled in at 6 pm on a Wednesday evening, the parking lot was full all around the building except right up front...BONUS! The outside is misleading as we figured it'd be packed. Not the case because this diner has LOTS of room inside. We walked right by the pie case while finding our table...the pies all looked amazing but I did notice one piece of blueberry. It's July, blueberries are on, so I ordered pie first! My husband who doesn't like blueberry pie helped himself, repeatedly. Our server explained that everything is made from scratch! You can definitely tell!! After seeing the Yelp reviews, my husband ordered the patty melt, which he enjoyed. I ordered the liver and onions (I know...not for everyone)...it was fantastic! Our server Tina was wonderful! She kept our drinks full and table cleared. She engaged in conversation with us enough to make us feel welcome but not intrusive. Note: as you can see by the size of pie, portions here are huge! Prices are really reasonable, service was excellent, food was delicious and atmosphere was relaxing. Mother's day, placed was packed. It seemed like all regulars and many people knew each other and were having a great time. I learned my lesson if there is family on the sign stay away. We were pretty hungry since breakfast was ice cream in Boise. I got a cheese burger. Worst 2 bites I ever had. Very thin and part of it charred, but not charred lines as in broiled. I got a side of potato salad that tasted like the wholesale stuff they'd buy from Sysco. $8 for this. Didn't feel like making a fuss and sending it back on a busy day. No way to spend this special day. It was a mother alright. We needed gas next door, attached to an A&W, a very small one. Just a bad experience altogether. Had to have some bad moments on the book tour. read more

I'm totally biased towards sentiment on this one... my dad told me stories of "the pie place" from his time in the Air force. I stopped in as I was driving NW to WA for an honest diner meal. And I got it. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs and it was everything I expected. The locals certainly like the place and sitting at the counter led to overhearing some rather classic diner conversations too! This place is a breakfast standard in Burley. There are no houses around yet this place is crammed, even between the breakfast and lunch crowds! HUGE portions. We got a cinnamon roll that filled up a 12-inch platter. The meal includes 4-strips of thick cut bacon (if that's what you choose), 3 eggs, hash browns, and two 12-inch pancakes. Great service. Breakfast has always been one of my favorite meals - especially when I don't have to cook it. This place is in the middle of nowhere - an exit off of I-84 with a few gas stations. I was here on a Sunday morning. The other patrons looked like locals: farmers, people dressed for church, and perhaps a few travelers like myself. My basic all American breakfast was good, but once again I encountered dry & somewhat tasteless biscuits. Upon request my waitress brought me some country gravy. Pleasantly surprised by the service and food at this cafe. The burgers were delicious and the fries were dare I say... real potatoes that had seemingly just been cut. We had a homemade potato soup which was delicious and a very nice patty melt. The breakfast sausage links were tasty salty deliciousness. Another great local diner just off I-84 on Hwy 24 to Rupert. It's a spacious, sunny, clean and airy diner that feeds locals and truckers 24/7. Service is fast, although there was a bit of a kerfuffle with our waitress not seeing us when we first arrived--we had to ask. Portions are HUGE. The salads are iceberg lettuce with a few carrots and purple cabbage tossed on top--don't come here if you want something fancy. This is good old mid America favorites. Their pies look amazing but we resisted temptation. Great local place to eat on your way to anywhere. Pay up front. read more

The food was not bad. You did get a lot for what you pay for. However waitress staff isn't great. Found a long blonde hair in the middle of pancakes, was somewhat made right. But talked to the lady cashing us out, and was asked how everything was replied with not bad until we found a hair in our food and was told "that's to bad" overall not to bad for a small town but definitely check your food. read more

Well tried it for the 3rd time not great again the hash browns were like mashed potatoes again with a little brown on them and I ordered the grounded steak it came with fried onions on it and I asked for gravy on it the gravy was not fresh it was all jelly like and not very warm you could tell it had been left over that was in the fridge and charged $2.00 for it, if the breakfast I had wasn't so good the first time I came I wouldn't be trying it again read more

We are a trio of hip traveling millennials coming from a wedding in Colorado ( but that's another story, lol ;)) But ANYWAYS, we had literally never eaten at a restAurant here before. The first thing we noticed were all the happy customer's-no, let's call them extended family- and how happy everybody seemed, like it was a holiday- actually, it WAS 9/11, but it felt like a different holiday. Anyways, we were so happy when we saw the menu. We were literally beside ourselves. Highly recommend the honey mustard dressing w baby croutons on salad. If you get the soup and salad make sure you get the salad first for a great pace. Our meal came, and what a sight to behold- EPIC portions of home-cooked meals- I had the veal Parmesan- veal parmigiana in Italian- with tots and corn. WOW! I was happy as a pig in- well, YOU know ;). Our servers were knowledgeable, courteous, and familiar without being invasive. I don't know about you, but I really need my space when I'm eating- I can be a little messy lol. ONLY point of criticism: they need bigger signs for the bathroom! Ordered our food and had my side salad less than 1 min after. Was almost too fast. Food was probably all frozen in the back. Haha I got chicken fried steak. It was a little tough but good. Sit at the counter to get the full diner experience. I really enjoyed myself as a tourist but I imagine if I were looking for a great brunch place this might have been the wrong choice. But we were looking for a greasy spoon, road side diner and well, this hit the spot for sure. I didn't much care for my omelette but I should have remembered where I was for a moment and I would have asked for no cheese. Processed cheese slices aren't my thing but I picked through it and all in all it wasn't too terrible. My half order of biscuits and gravy were HUGE but I gobbled them up. Love these type of places. Everyone in there knows each other, and the food is outstanding. Great diner/cafe. Food was really yummy and there was lots of it! You have to get the Parky Burger. It is combo of a juicy lucy and an onion burger - only better!!!! Hubby had a bacon and cheese omelet. There was probably 1/2 a pound of bacon in that thing and it was all good meat - no yucky fat chunks. Coffee was good, and our cups never got a chance to get empty. Service was phenomenal - often times a "local joint" only is nice to their regulars - not here! Everyone was treated very well. Definitely will be back. In fact, it may be worth the 2 hour drive for breakfast (and/or) lunch real soon! Highly, most definitely recommend this one! read more

Excellent home-cooked food. Stopped for a roadside lunch, but ended up ordering dinners once we saw the food coming out. I ordered trout which was grilled perfectly. Moist and flavorful! Dinners came with soup or salad, vegetables, and choice of fries, baked, or mashed potatoes. The perfect stop for a road trip where most places you stop have the same menu and only fries. My daughter ordered breakfast (served will day) and said her pancakes were very good. My husband ordered the pot pie which he heartily enjoyed. Not a dish filled with soup and vegetables covered with pastry but a thick slice of a deep dish old fashioned chicken pot pie. Yum! Dinner came with strawberry shortcake, but that didn't stop us from ordering a slice of chocolate mousse pour large enough to feed the family. read more

He said his food was kinda cold, but he still liked it, because his came with desert. Employees super nice and their pies are homemade Would return to try something else Revise: Bf and I there out the pies. I'm super shocked he threw out his banana cream bc he loves pie..so I knew it was bad. Plus he tasted mo e and spit it out said it was not food and stale (which it was). The food is TERRIFIC! I had a cafe fave (patty melt) and it was the best one I've ever eaten! The fries were fresh and tasty. The problem here was that the cook was fighting with the waitresses. I was sitting at the counter, so I had a ringside seat! One server had a customer who wanted tortillas instead of toast. He wouldn't prepare the tortillas for her. Another server asked for him to do something special and he refused. If I owned that place, I'd fire that cook! He was terrorizing those girls - and trust me, that job is a difficult one even with a cooperative cook. read more
