I've been using Summit since ~2018 to handle my furnace maintenance. This summer I had them out to…read moredo a tuneup on my two A/C units. I mentioned to the tech that the upstairs didn't get quite as cold as I would like; while I suspected some of that could be system/ductwork limitations, he suggested that we could add a little more freon to the system in the event there was a possible slow leak. Ultimately, he ended up adding freon to both the upstairs and main floor unit, and unexpectedly much more to the main floor unit. The price after the fact surprised me, especially given that particular unit had appeared to have been working fine; the tech told me it was possible that unit had a leak. He informed me Summit would schedule a leak investigation if desired, but that it would cost a whopping $1,100, so I declined given the performance on that unit had been fine. Fast forward a week or two, and the main floor is quite hot. The ducts seem to be blowing hot air. At which point it became clear to me the unit has actually stopped functioning. I call Summit, which is busy with appointments and express my dismay that the unit stopped working after the tuneup. They tell me it may be a leak etc., but they will send someone out. I wait for the scheduled appointment and the tech that arrives this time clearly didn't look over the prior notes or photos before arrival. I explain to him the situation, and he was confused about which unit was implicated, and claimed that the prior pressure readings from the earlier tech clearly indicated there was a leak (which was not at all what I was told). He later retracted this statement after realizing what time of day the earlier appointment was and said those pressure readings were normal. He poked around briefly, but without much investigation declared the system to have a leak, and indicated there was an 80% chance of it being non-repairable. He indicated they would have to do the $1,100 search to locate the leak, and if it was in the condenser/evaporative coils it would not be repairable. If it was somewhere else in the line, it could be, but then they would possibly have to tear into my walls, etc. to identify the issue. When I asked how much a new unit would be, he gave me a rough quote of $15,000, but told me that they would have to look at specs to price out more specifically. I asked him to do so, given I wanted to know what I was looking at, and he appeared inconvenienced by the request and said it would take him an hour. (It did not.) During that process, the tech told me my ductwork was not sufficient and I would need to downsize my unit, and that the smaller size wouldn't be enough to cool the floor. He suggested my unit may have broken because I keep the basement vents closed, but then he also claimed these A/C units only last about ten years. The whole visit felt performative, and ultimately was much more focused on theoretical salesmanship than anything diagnostic. I was left pretty frustrated. I called out a different repair company recommended by a friend, and within 5 minutes he had identified the leak and the location in the coil. Contrary to what I was told by Summit, this company informed me the coil could be replaced and that I had many more years of life left in the unit. Within the week, I got the whole thing repaired and refilled for ~$1,200--not much more than the cost of a Summit "leak search." While I've had positive and knowledgeable techs with Summit, this whole experience was such a breach of trust that I will not be using them again. I had another company inspect my furnaces this fall for a fraction of the cost, and I will not be looking back.

I called Jump to fix a control Transformer and was pleased to get a same day appointment…read more Adam showed up on time and proceeded to diagnosis the issue. His expertise noticed a couple of installation errors , one of them was related to the control transformer. He was able to fix and completely remove the failing transformer and utilize the furness control panel instead, nice clean solution as the manufacture intended. The other installation error was causing condensation to not exit correctly and was leaking water that was rusting the front wall pan. I was unaware of this and was looking at having to replace a 4 year old furness if the rusting was to proceed or had already damaged the integrity of the wall. Adam checked the wall out and concluded that the heating element integrity was still good and the wall had not been compromised to the point of furness replacement. Without Adam's knowledge and skills I would be in a bad spot in the near future from the poor installation. I'm very pleased and happy with the outcome, thanks to Adam and do recommend JumpHVAC.

Shaun responded quickly, did a thorough inspection, and gave me a reasonable quote with immediate installation for a complete HVAC system. He was very polite and informative, not rude or pushy. He and his crew replaced the complete system in one day, including old system haul away. They provided quality installation at a reasonable price. Thanksgiving week my 20-year-old Bryant furnace failed (rusted heat exchangers) so I got four bids…read morefrom two kinds of contractors: two high overhead corporate HVAC companies with fancy brightly-colored vans and starched-shirt techs, and two small business HVAC'ers with low overhead, decaled pickup trucks, and jeans. While I was prepared to pay much higher replacement costs across the board than pre-Covid prices , the bid range was shocking, as much as $15K difference between high and low. Duffey's was one of the low bidders, and I am so glad I went with them. The higher bidders tried to upsell me to replace my AC at the same time, get a higher btu furnace, etc., but not Shawn Duffey. Instead, he explained why my current size was fine, and respected the fact that heat was the priority. But what impressed me was how he explained parts availability for the brand he would install (Amana) and certain models whose parts replacement costs were as much as 50% lower (pricey variable vs torque-drive motors). He and his helper Mike came over and had the old one out and the new one installed, including wider venting pipes and other upgrades, cleanly and efficiently in about 4.5 hours. He also had the new furnace delivered by the distributor, who hauled the old one away for recycling--again, saving costs. But what really impressed me was he refused payment until Jeffco signed off on the inspection the next week. So Shawn and Mike literally installed the same Amana, with upgraded venting, for $13K less than the top corporate bidder, and I couldn't be happier. So lessons learned: 1) get at least four bids from different kind of companies, 2) if there is any upsell, avoid, and 3) make Shawn Duffey one of your bids. I highly recommend going with him; you will not be disappointed. His service area is also limited to SW Denver Metro, and that's a good thing. Local, knowledgeable, reasonable, and personable.

I'm sure I'm not alone with the experience of needing an HVAC company and not knowing who to call…read more-- or who to trust. But I had a great experience today with Cool Heat Mechanical Systems in Denver. My house has two furnaces, both of which needed a check-up and filter change. A friend recommended Cool Heat and I was so glad they had. Paul, the owner, was completely professional, very knowledgeable, and ***gave us one the fairest price*** I've ever gotten from an HVAC firm. The cost for checking both furnaces thoroughly, replacing the filters, running carbon monoxide tests, and spending several minutes talking to us about our furnaces was only $134 which included travel time. We now have smoothly running furnaces, more knowledge than we ever would have had about the age and condition of our HVAC equipment, and the peace of mind to know everything is working well. I would recommend this company to anybody. I'm sure you'll have as positive an experience as I did.

One of my neighbors recommended Cool Heat, so I gave them a call on Friday afternoon around 3:30PM, thinking I'd get a call back next week. He was wrapping up another service call in the area, so came right over in about 30 minutes. He was GREAT! Our HVAC was frozen up with gunk and he cleaned it all up. He did confirm our suspicions about our ducting system - woefully under trunked (old 4" ducts) with lots of breaks. He gave us a reasonable price for upgrading, but recommended that we don't need to do it now. So, we'll now be able to save the money for that project (that we suspected we should have done 4 years ago when we installed our new units). Thankfully, he confirmed that our actual equipment was great and that there is no need to replace those. (My fear was always that someone would come in and recommend a whole new system). Best $125 ever spent - an hour on site to fix us up! We will definitely be hiring Cool Heat to come back to upgrade our ducting later this year! As a bonus, he also services Rinnai water heaters - because we live in Englewood (hard water), we need to get it serviced. I've gotten outrageous quotes for that in the past - his quote is substantially lower than everyone else, so I'll have him to that, too.

Not only did he ensure everything was set up perfectly, he took the time to train me on how to change and maintain the system. In addition, he chose to use copper fittings versus the plastic fittings that aquasauna includes; masonry screws to mount the harnesses to the basement wall; and a bypass valve so we always have a plan b; he's a class act.
