We knew we needed a place for 150 people and we knew we wanted it to be drivable for both family and friends in upstate New York and Boston.   We stumbled upon The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires after months of searching, but the only wedding we had seen hosted there was inside the main cottage. Reluctantly, we decided it was probably too small for us.   Fast forward another month.  Randomly one night, my wife and I both separately pulled up the venue again and I said, "We need to just call them. Maybe they have some grass we can put a tent on." After a couple of email exchanges, Eric, the owner, and Cory, the grounds keeper, invited us out to see the space and were instantly sold. The beautiful grounds, the stunning cottages (or as we like to call them, "mini mansions"), THE VIEW.   Not only did they have four cottages on site where guests could stay, but they also had a field where they had placed a tent for previous weddings that could hold up to 150 guests. We soon found out that over the winter months they would be adding three additional cottages for guests to stay and a seasonal tent to be used for weddings throughout the summer and fall. Needless to say, we booked it.   A couple months into planning, LHGC added a wedding coordinator to their awesome team.  We connected with Kelsey instantly, discussing plans we had made and things we had coming down the line. She was always available if we had a question or concern. Come time to do our walk through before the wedding, we laid out the entire day with the help of Kelsey and our caterer.  We walked away knowing we had the dream team on board.   When our weekend approached, all the new additions were complete and the space was more beautiful than ever. We had our rehearsal brunch Friday morning and welcome party Friday night, both of which allowed for the caterers to take full advantage of the catering kitchen in the main cottage. Kelsey and Cory were completely accommodating and there from start to finish to help with anything we needed.   Our guests arrived sporadically from Friday morning through the evening and spent time playing lawn games, kayaking and paddleboarding on the lake, and enjoying each other's company.  It was so nice to have the entire grounds at our disposal.   On our wedding day, it was just the same. Everything went off seamlessly. Kelsey and Cory were both there if something came up, made sure that set up was perfect, ran the ceremony and reception smoothly and effortlessly.   Our wedding was perfect. It was everything we could have dreamed it to be and more.   Thank you, LHGC, for welcoming us to the family!  We look forward to spending many anniversaries with you on Pontoosuc Lake!

This was my first visit to Club Wyndham at Bentley Brook (my second stay as a Wyndham club member)…read more I was very excited to check out this property because I'd seen it last year on a trip to the Berkshires but wasn't yet a member. Check in was smooth and front desk staff very helpful and ready to answer questions. With a 4:00pm check in time on Sunday; we threw our stuff into the room and ventured out to find a place for dinner. Upon our return to the room, we were very pleased with the accommodations. Our master bedroom had a king bed, ample pillows and a nicely appointed 2 person Jacuzzi tub. The shower and toilet was separated by a door. The vanity was large and I would've appreciated a double sink; but we made due. The kitchen and dining, living room area was open floor plan and the couch was not comfortable but ultimately we weren't actually watching alot of TV. All the rooms had TVs with a good compliment of cable channels. Second bedroom had two full size beds that were more than suitable for my guests. Their bathroom was also acceptable. My only gripes were that the Quisinart coffee maker seriously took 30 minutes to brew coffee (it's quicker to go to the lobby and get their free coffee in the morning!), the oversized light above dining table should be on a dimmer switch (as I felt like I was being interrogated on Law&Order sitting under it) and the lightswitch in our room turned on both the ceiling fixture AND the vanity lights (too much light!) and the safety locks on the bedroom window were annoying because I could only open it 3 inches at night. I was also disappointed that the mountain coaster and Alpine slide (and other rides) at the neighboring Jiminy Peak were not in operation during the week (weekends only this time of year) but that has no bearing on Club Wyndham. We enjoyed the on site amenities; utilized the Sauna every morning during our stay, the Indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzis. I also want to commend one employee in particular; Aaron. We had sat outside the first night by the fire pit (to enjoy some cigars) and he stopped by to assist us in starting the fire. We conversed with him and he genuinely appreciated his job and the opportunity with Wyndham. He was a very generous young man and a gentle, kind soul. Made that part of our evening even more enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back to Bentley Brook again. (But next time I'll book a Thursday through Sunday) as it can be challenging finding lunch and dinner options Mon-Wed.

It was not perfect, but 4 of us stayed comfortably and we easily could have hosted 4 others although maybe less comfortably. Check-in and service we received were great. We called twice before coming, one call was better (a middle aged male I think) and one was less than optimistic (younger female) but the person did seem to warn us that they would try to get is to our unit by the 4pm check in time. Honestly, I don't fault someone setting expectations correctly so I didn't hold this against them-I prefer truth and by being a little concerned maybe that made me pleasantly surprised when they were prepared to let us in before 4pm (but we did arrive later than we would have had the lady not warned us). Also noteworthy - every conversation we had with guest services were very pleasant and there was ALWAYS someone or multiple people at the desk. This was in early to mid May just to give you context. The unit itself was well appointed if a little tired in some places (couch was a bit dated as were some of the dinning room chairs) but the kitch and baths seemed good, save low water pressure and hot water taking a bit to come up as someone else mentioned. Heating unit was good, never tried the A/C. All the locks, cable/TV, stoves, etc. worked flawlessly (minus a crack in a carafe that must have been there prior to our arrival), we were even able to hook up a streaming stick in one of the units (not the other because of the model of the TV) which helped us enjoy the unit a lot in the evenings. The Pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic. The temp of the Jacuzzi was warm-like it should be-so I do recommend either getting out as advised after 20-30 mins or going into the pool to cool off a bit before going back. I'm sure the timing of our visit was key but our party used the facilities several times before anyone else were using them-I wouldn't expect this but we tried to go at dinner time to have some time to ourselves and we got lucky every time...and that worked well as we are late eaters. The location we are use to because we have stayed down the road at the now closed Bentley Brook (which we loved) and love the location of the resort in Hancock. Due note, for almost anything you have a 15-30 minute drive to Pittsfield, Williamstown, etc. on the East Side of the mountain the place is nesteld or Stephenstown and New Lebanon to the West/Southwest. We have stayed in the Berkshires a lot over the years and really like this quiet area. We tend to take road trips on nice weather days and have been virtually every direction in a circe about 1.5 hours. Other than the obvious close towns of Williamstown, North Adams, Pittsfield, Lenox and New Lebanon (which has a few close decent/good restauants) we recommend day trips to Albany, Great Barrington, Bennington VT and Hudson/Catskill NY. Saratoga and Lake George are a little farther and would require a long day but are doable from there if you are ambitious. Def would stay here again in a few years...but we have been to the Berkshires in most seasons and are good on it now for a bit. Hope this helps someone make the decision.

It's difficult to leave a review for this place because in retrospect it could have been so much…read moreworse, and at least I wasn't sleeping in a car, but the stay was a frustrating experience nonetheless. The Lanesborough Country Inn is conveniently located on Route 7 and has both a "motel" section and several quaint-looking cabins further back near the Lanesborough Storage building. It is also conveniently located next to the Weathervane Motel, which is AAA approved and also offers complimentary wifi for a comparable price to the Lanesborough Country Inn. The difference is that Weathervane Motel does not boast log cabins (or brown painted corrugated vinyl siding), and it's not next to the Party Barn. I was told that if you were lucky enough to upgrade to a cabin the stay is pretty rustic and enjoyable. However, we stayed in one of the motel units, so I can only imagine what it was like. The Good: This motel has a convenient location, and it knows it. They have a lovely little gazebo out front, and the sign by the road looks new and well-cared for. I saw someone mowing the grass, and at one point in time there were flowers hanging from the overhang (they were mostly dead at this point). Our room had *two* lamps, some coat hangers, a coffee pot, a microwave (without the tray), a woodgrain-covered mini fridge (that worked!) and a television. If you're lucky you might get a room with a Bob Ross-esque painting hanging on the wall. We weren't lucky. The Bad: Upon walking into our room, we were hit with a smell that was hard to describe but reminiscent of potatoes. Even after trying to air the room out for several hours the odor still hung around. The carpet was probably red at one point in its life. It was covered in patchy holes and cigarette burns, and it obviously had not been vacuumed in a long time. There were some strange holes on the ceiling. Was someone trying to hang something? Were they bullet holes? It was hard to tell. The beds were lumpy and the sheets sported several mysterious stains. Speaking of stains, someone channeled their inner artist all over our window curtains, leaving behind a crusty masterpiece complete with smeared fingerprints. In the bathroom the sink had deep cracks running down to the drain, and the window blinds were broken. If you wanted hot water you had to leave the faucet running on full blast for several minutes. There were towels and complimentary soap, but it might be in your best interest to avoid the towels because after one use one of our friends' face puffed out and turned bright red. Was it an allergic reaction? Was it just dirty? Maybe it was some fancy exfoliating towel and that was part of the experience. At no point in our stay (which was by no means "extended") did anyone from the motel enter the room. I suppose this is good, but it would have been nice to get fresh towels and more toilet paper or have the trash emptied. The Lanesborough Country Inn was by no means AWFUL, but it was not a pleasant stay. We all left feeling dirty and exhausted. While the website boasts some very cute, quaint accommodations, not every room is the same, and you will probably be better off in a cabin instead (or somewhere else entirely). I would suggest skipping this location and shopping around, but your experience will vary.

For roughly $100/night I guess you get what you pay for meaning the giant room never got very warm (but man, the AC that heats? 15 feet above was loud as hell and I think only blew air), but we did have a decent bath before we went skiing, which seems like more than what others experienced here. It was also in the single digits so warm water was a must. King bed was totally clean and comfortable. Anyway, I'm not sure I'd go back but overall, it was bearable. Oh, did I mention that the flat screen had odd white dots all over it? No biggie but weird to say the least (I thought it was me until my daughter mentioned them too). The gist: for a cheap place, on short notice and not far from Jiminy, this place will be fine. Bring blankets.

No water, no bread. Had to ask for water. Our appetizers came quickly. The caprese salad was delicious. Then about a half an hour later our waitress comes out advising they were out of the venison. My husband had ordered it. She left to get the menu (when she should have had it with her) came back, my husband ordered the haddock. She said ok, left and came back about five minutes later advising that they were out of that too. At this point my husband had to look at the menu. Our waitress apologized for the inconvenience and explained how more than several dishes were not available and that they had to close the restaurant an hour earlier due to this. My husband settled on the salmon. By the time we got our food, it was cold. I ordered scallops. And I should have taken a picture - it was pathetic. It looked like an appetizer it was so small. The asparagus was cold, and the scallops had no flavor. I ate a few bites but it was so disappointing. The salmon was also just ok. Nothing special. Our waitress assured we would get dessert fast if we wanted it but we didn't wanna bother considering everything. She apologized again, saying she would talk to the manager and that he would come over to talk to us. He never did come over. They took off my scallops from the bill at least. But this was by far the worst experience ever. A few small suggestions and the experience may have been better - provide water at the beginning, we shouldn't have had to wait 1/2 an hour to get some, bring us the bread, we shouldn't have to ask for it and during the wait it should have been offered as a courtesy for the absurd long wait and frustration for not having the meal my husband wanted, and if you say a manager would come over, they should come over. The meal started out ok but it just got worse and worse. My husband and I paid our bill quickly and left. He had to get me food elsewhere as I was still very hungry.

First impressions make all the difference. After a long exhausting drive (no thanks to rush hour…read moretraffic) from NY downstate, we were greeted warmly by Matt, who not only acknowledged our hotel loyalty status, but also offered my kids cookies and water. I happened to have forgotten the kids toothbrushes, but he quickly retrieved replacements for me. We were quickly checked in, and after we settled into the room, he even gave us a courtesy call to let us know the wi-fi password! As someone who loves a good value (and a sucker for free breakfast, I like Hampton Inns because theres a standard level of service and attention that I can expect (24 hr access to free hot coffee/tea is a nice touch). Even if the nightly cost is slightly higher than their competitors down the road, I am willing to pay a bit more for great service, and that's exactly what we got. Our room was clean and exactly as advertised. No Microwave in the room, but they did have a mini-fridge. We had plenty of walking space between the furniture, areas to rest our belongings, and hang our clothes. They even had a nightlight in the room to boot (great for anyone with kids, elderly travelers, or poor night vision!). We were a traveling party of 2 adult + 2 kids, and this room was the perfect size for our needs. The Breakfast was a little *extra* with the fun banagrams too. Coffee was hot and refilled often! Never once saw any canisters empty, as the back end staff changed them out often. There was a microwave for guest to use, and I was able to quickly heat up our lunch for the day ahead. Hope to return again during ski-season!

BEWARE of this Hotel and its unprofessional, and downright cruel GENERAL MANAGER - LAURA RUMMEL!!!!…read more We had a terrible encounter here at this Hampton Inn with Laura Rummel, General Manager. I would steer clear of this hotel and go elsewhere if you are able to as she is unprofessional, rude and condescending. I have been a loyal Hampton Inn customer for decades and a DIAMOND HILTON member, and have never in my life had a negative interaction with any hotel personnel, particularly a General Manager! This is my first complaint, but I felt it was quite necessary to help others to avoid this abuse. My 5 year old daughter attempted to get a paper cup off of the counter during breakfast, and was scolded by Ms. Rummel and told no that she could not get a cup. My daughter came back crying hysterically. I approached Ms. Rummel and asked what she had said to my daughter since she was crying, and was told that she told her NO bc she was "messing up her teas." I looked over and saw 2 tea bags that were somewhat out of place. I asked my daughter to clarify what had happened, and she stated that she was trying to get the cup and the teas got caught on her sweater, so she was placing them back. I went back to discuss this misunderstanding with Ms. Rummel, who was adamant that my daughter was out to mess up the coveted teabags here. So, I asked her name and explained to her that I thought she was unkind for making my daughter cry, and that it was odd that she did not feel badly or even attempt to apologize for making a child cry. **She blatantly told me that SHE WAS NOT GOING TO APOLOGIZE, and that my daughter should not be messing up her teabags and that she should not have been unaccompanied (mind you - 6 ft from where we were eating breakfast in a clear vantage point of me). I informed her I would be making a complaint with Hampton and she told me she "DID NOT CARE, BECAUSE AS THE GENERAL MANAGER - ALL COMPLAINTS COME TO HER ANYWAYS." After I told her I would be calling corporate, she continued to double down on this statement multiple times that it didn't matter, since the complaints come to her.** So, BEWARE if you choose this hotel that clearly Ms. Rummel is an unhinged individual with a power complex, and will not care about your well-being, and, in fact, overtly try to to make you feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Save yourself some frustration and mental anguish and stay at another Hilton property, or at least until Ms. Rummel has been replaced.
