They raised the price despite me having constant issues that they admittedly are "aware" of. (I do feel validated.) My download and upload speeds are pathetic. I get periodically receive emails from them about known internet issues in my building and/or unit, but nothing is never done about it. I pay for 1 GB, but I get around 195 Mbps.

ON HOLD beyond 23 minutes to just purchase their service!!
Sabi M.

Here's my fear... called today to install service but after being ON HOLD for over 23 minutes before a customer service rep picked up, gave me time to wonder what would happen if I actually had a problem with my service and needed a tech. This was just the line to sign up/SALES, not the complaint line. Ended up telling the rep how dissatisfied I was with their service cpr picking up my call. His only response to my dismay was that he was on another call. Hmm...how many people are actually working there and answering calls????? I'll update my review once I try their service for a few months. His tip is to sign up online! Yeah, great idea....once I get to a wifi cafe.

Speed Test

I just moved into the Strata Apartment Home building last week, and set up Cox Gigablast internet immediately when I moved in because I work from home. I went with them because it appeared to be the fastest provider in the building, as AT&T only offered less than 50Mbps. I had been used to Spectrum internet at my house in Del Mar at 300-400Mbps and that was still plenty fast, but I was very excited for extreme speeds. The Cox Gigablast has been pretty good with 800-950Mbps download speed. but the fastest upload speed I ever saw was 30-50Mbps. For me this was kind of frustrating since I edit and upload a lot of long 4K Video for work, it took a long time. Plus they have a limit on how much you can download every month (1024GB) which might not have been a problem but just not something I want to think about when most Fiber Optic internet providers offer unlimited data. Right when I kind of just accepted that was the best I was going to get in my new building, I opened my mailbox last night and saw a flier from Webpass from Google Fiber. So I looked into it and it seemed too good to be true that they offer 1 Gig speeds up AND DOWN! With unlimited data, reviews that speak of great reliability, for the same price as I was paying for Cox (half the price of cox if you get cox unlimited data plan), AND THEY CAN INSTALL tomorrow as early as 9 am!! It was 5pm when I received the flier in the mail last night, I booked an appointment for 1pm today. The Technician, awesome Jaimison, showed up almost 10 min early, and within 1-2 min max he had finished installation and activation. It was absolutely mind boggling how fast he installed it VS the 5-7 phone calls I had to make to Cox to activate Gigablast, totaling over 4 hours. Now I can return the $180 Modem I bought, because you dont need a modem with Webpass! He also hooked up my Ethernet outlet in my kitchen! All in all, Ive NEVER had such great service from an internet provider. Thank you Jaimison and Webpass from Google Fiber!!! Disclaimer: it was just installed 20 min ago, so I don't have any long term use review for you but the rest of the great reviews show that the reliability is top notch. I'm definitely not worried about it

Not exactly that speedy

It's a really inconsistent experience and I think this really depends upon where your building is located. I'm sure other people have had good experiences but I've got to share my bad experience. Even though my building's quoted 1 GIG, our connection is poor: sometimes I'll get 3 Mbps download and sometimes I'll get 150 Mbps. Technical support is really long and drawn out compared to the big-name competitors: I've been complaining about the issue since I signed up around 3 weeks ago and it's still not resolved. Not only that, my issue is a "little lower priority" according to the technical service manager (couldn't believe that when I read it). A bit frustrating to deal with them but I guess you get what you pay for.

Just enjoying those lightening fast WebPass speeds!

I just moved into a new building and made sure the transfer service, and Curtis helped me out for the second time.

Download the app, create your account, and everything else is pretty much there. I was given my router, and Jessica was transparent about prices. She even went above and beyond to make sure I'm getting the best pricing. The only con I see is the horrible, congested area it's located in, but what can you do when Trader Joes is right there.

Arrogant and disgusting customer service. I was having…read moreissues with the unlocking of my SIM card from my former carrier over to Cox. After each carrier blamed the other for the inability to unlock the card, and after having been transferred from one agent, department to the next without the agent explaining the situation to the former, I was left to continue repeating myself?! Finally, I headed out to the Hillcrest location. These two men there, one in his mid thirties; the other late 30's had these arrogant attitudes as if I were inconveniencing them?! They said "you will have to call them, Spectrum , to get them to unlock the card." We can't do anything to help you?!" Back and forth both Spectrum and Cox blamed the other. Now just how am I supposed to call them without service?! I don't know what to tell you, but you can't come in here and expect to use our phones to get your card unlocked?!?" I said absolutely nothing more. I got up from my seat and walked out the door. Look into AT&T, Verizon, or any other carrier. Save your time and money. There are SO many other companies that will compete for your business and are concerned with customer retention. This business couldn't care less about obtaining your business, let alone retaining it.

For the most part my Spectrum/Charter service has been reliable. The reason I am giving Spectrum a…read morelower rating is because they were charging me for 200 Mbps service when I was only receiving 100 Mbps. Their excuse for not fixing the issue on their own was they had a merger and did not take it upon themselves to alter the agreement I had previously. I did not have a previous contract that they would have needed to alter. I feel when they altered their service they should have informed customers of the available services. They knew I was paying for 200 Mbps service and left me at 100 Mbps. I contacted them in attempt for them to make right the deficiency, but they only offered to switch me to the 200 Mbps service that I had already been paying for for 4 years. They did not offer me a refund or any other form of restitution. I requested that they upgrade me to 400 Mbps service for 12 months at my current rate, but they specified they had no way of doing it. This is a classic example of a large company padding their wallet at the expense of loyal customers. Spectrum did not bury the broadband cables. They left the cables strewn across the ground, some cables were weaving through the pickets of my fence, and I even found a large heap of twisted cable overgrown by grass and weeds. I found a service hub in my back yard behind a tree next to my fence. The hub had cables running from it to other homes near me, and those cables were not buried either. Spectrum, please make this right.

When I signed up, the representative strongly promoted how "great" Spectrum Mobile is, how fast the internet/data would be compared to other providers, and how "cheap" the service would be overall. Those claims did not match reality at all. What bothers me most is not only the pricing change, but the attitude afterward -- it feels like customer concerns are NOTHING, and getting a straight answer is impossible. Because of the unexpected increase and the misleading sales pitch, I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile.
