    Bacon burger
    Diana H.

We ordered two cheese burgers one #1 and the other with bacon cheese plain. Two meals 25.50 The bacon order came back with mayo mustard no cheese and no bacon. The lady said that's what we ordered. No. I made sure to repeat myself saying "bacon meat cheese buns nothing else" (this is standard for my kid) She took order back respectfully and then charged me 1.50 for bacon after I already paid the 25.50. The meat wasn't good. Five years ago they were good. Now not so much. I won't return It's freezing cold in the dining area

This is the first place I ever ate at when I moved in Modesto in 1994. I had forgotten how good this place really is. I ordered the big Ben hamburger. It came with fries and a soda. I also had a large pineapple shake, which is very delicious. The burger has a lot of flavor. I saved each bite. The fries are good to. The service was great. I highly recommend coming here.

I got a number 1 and it was not special. Frozen patty... The Frys were not fresh just frozen. No decor in the dining room. Very dated and dingy. The ceiling is stained and dirty looking. They only have a few lights on in the dining area... Not sure if they are trying to save money or if they just don't work. If this is the best burger in town like the sign says; you should leave town to get a better burger.

Came in to grab a weekday burger and fries. Their menu was fairly extensive with good prices, lots of options with fresh jalapeños. However it took them like 10 minutes to make the milkshake, the girls had to stand around and coach one of them on how to make one. My burger was huge and yummy, but they don't have a combo option for a milkshake instead of a drink and they charge extra for cheese in this day and age! My meal costs $11, same price as dining out for lunch.

It happened again last week. They shouldn't clean the grills until after they close at 7pm or change their hours.

It ordered the Big Ben combo out of nostalgia from back in the days of my youth.

There were limited quantities of each so I'm not sure if they have more things on the weekends, which would totally make sense for a local small business on a random Tuesday. Parking is easy once you find it and although the inside is very small there are a few chairs and cafe tables perfect for a duo. Nonetheless, we left with a good haul and got one of almost everything: Red velvet slice, Carrot cake slice, Chocolate Mousse slice, Chocolate brownie, and Lemon bar. They also had a sheet cake, a small pack of cupcakes and cake pops in a separate case, so I wasn't sure if those were preorders or display or available for purchase. Here's what I loved: THE BROWNIE. One of the best I've ever had! The lemon bar was also delicious, super tart and perfectly baked. I'd get either of those again! Customer service was very friendly, prices were clearly displayed and fair, and the portions were good sizes. Here's what I just liked: The cake part of the red velvet, mousse, and carrot cake was a bit dry. They were beautifully decorated, the frosting and fillings were great, but the cake itself just wasn't as soft and moist as I was hoping. Another Yelper mentioned sticking the cake in the microwave and I wish I would have tried that. Definitely a small business worth supporting!

Upon entering, I was struck by three things, how friendly the worker was, how hard the door was to open (I do have mobility issues on occasion), and how little there was on display to choose from. Still, I found a couple of nice items (red velvet and some serious chocolate cake) my wife loved the chocolate but we found the red velvet to be quite dry and hard. I suspect that it had been in the case far too long. Fortunately the chocolate was so good, my wife said that it more than made up for it. Overall, the ambiance was simple bakery, nice folks, serving well. I suspect where these nice folks shine is in pre-orders (which makes TOTAL sense, as foot traffic, particularly in this bakery's location would be a tough sell indeed). I suspect that we will be keeping Dessert European Cakes and Pastries in mind for our upcoming bakery needs.
