First heard of Weck's from a friend who's never lived in New Mexico or spent much time there, so I was a bit skeptical when he raved about their chile and their adovada. But he tends to be right about food in general, so I gave it a shot, and I'm really glad I did--now I go back every time I'm in Albuquerque. The ubiquitous hash browns are a tasty twist on what is otherwise fairly traditional New Mexican food (with a few American favorites thrown in for variety). Everything I've eaten at Weck's was prepared well, the service is always good (if a little slow at times, but that's understandable when the place is packed full and doing a massive take-out business at the same time), and prices are on the low side of average. The green chile at Weck's is simply amazing. I have no idea how they prepare it, but it's one of the tastiest greens there is. Combine it with the huevos rancheros, and it's an incredible dish. No matter what you get, I'd highly recommend asking for an additional side of chile. It's just that good. Went there on veterans day and asked if they have specials or discounts. Can't blame us for asking but our server said no discounts, but later she said 10% off though it only saved us 3$ but I will take it. Maybe My expectation was high and that is why I was disappointed when our food came. The gravy was bland though the chicken steak is soft, not much flavor. My daughter took a bite or two of her burger and she was done, eating my chicken steak instead. I so want them to have tasty food but wishing and having are different things. I am trying to justify the lack of flavor, maybe they are trying to focus on pleasing geriatric customers? No offense senior citizens! Went in for breakfast so I could have some hot tea and plain eggs and yup it was plain I could have made this at home and at least it would have been seasoned the hash browns which they say are fresh are actually store bought and I ordered a side of red it was so thick I had to thin it with my water and for 9 bucks for a 2 egg 4 oz hash browns and a single sausage patty was not worth the trouble read more

I don't live in NM so this review is about the wonderful experience we had today. Everything was spot on! I had the cup of green chile chicken stew and half BLT. The stew was rich but not heavy and perfectly spicy. The BLT had plenty of thick, crispy bacon on it - along with guacamole, cheddar and the standard lettuce and tomato. It was pretty delicious. My hubby had the French toast and a side of sausage. Save yourself a few dollars and split the plate of French toast. It looked like he was served half a loaf of bread. I'm a definite drink snob so my huge iced tea hit the mark. It was fresh and served over plenty of crushed ice. My husband's family used to live here and still visit often. They eat at Weck's at least once every time they are in town. read more

Had the biscuits and gravy this morning--oh my--it was good, really good. Not too strong on meat flavor, and with two tasty large biscuits. It's got strong flavors, so if you like your biscuits and gravy more mild--consider Cracker Barrel The slab of ham was tasty and the size of a small fist. I love breakfast!!! I especially love it when someone cooks and cleans for me! Weck's is a perfect example of why hitting a local place beats a chain every single time. Fantastic food with lots of green chili showcased. I always order mine on the side as the heat can be hard to predict. I love the hash brown bowls with eggs and green chili. Man is that super. They offer a huge selection of tea and also a specialty coffee flavor that rotates. Service is what I call diner style in that you may see a different server for every part of your meal, but since service is so quick and friendly it hardly matters. I suggest getting here early on weekends and holidays as it fills up fast, but it's worth the wait. Consistency is key and they have it in spades. read more

We lucked into this place when we stopped for gas. It was really good food and lots of it. My girl got the pork enchilada (huge). I got the BLT with spicy guacamole and the green chili chicken stew. Wecks in Rio Rancho is my favorite location! The chicken enchiladas with two eggs on top is my absolute fav! Wecks chili is the best!

This Was our go to Sunday breakfast place.We used to love to take out of town company to eat there . Then they got greedy! The Carne Adovada papas plate is just papas with 2 small pieces of carne! Food here is soo tasty. I mainly come for the breakfast options and hadn't been to this Weck's before. The decor was farm oriented which added a nice touch. They were fairly busy the day I came in and was here with a large group. The waitress was friendly but i am not sure she quite understood my order. I asked for the original papitas but only with ham instead of ham, bacon, and sausage. Normally I would make a big deal but since I was in a large group and we were in a crunch for time I ate it anyway. I ended up loving it all so in a way it was a pleasant mistake. They did seem a little slow in bringing out the food, but as I mentioned they were very busy that day and probably every day I'm sure. Price wise it seems as though they are a bit on the pricier side, my meal including a drink was $15 including tip. In my book, that is pricy for a lunch. I did have enough to take home to eat the next day so they do give large portions. All in all solid place for a good breakfast and has great chili. read more

Not to long ago I really enjoyed Weck's. The last five or so visits have been disappointing. I ordered a taco salad ($10) I was actually charged an extra $1.50 for salsa. Hello it's a taco salad! The portions are ridiculously large and if your planning to share or eat the left overs for days it's ok. The service is generally good. The prices seem to go up every time I go in. read more

One of the best breakfast spots I've stopped at! Portions are huge and prices are very reasonable. Would recommend this spot to anyone driving through on i40 or locally. Having tried and been disappointed by other locations of Wecks, in ALB, I was a sworn loyalist to the location on Osuna. Once again near starvation, and forced into new dietary restrictions which forbid the much loved BK Breakfast croissant w tots, I was forced to stop at a spot with healthier choices, and a closer location. Was I ever surprised. The food was amazing. Wonderful flavor to the red and the green chili. Eggs were cooked to perfection, and the carne adovada was incredibly tender and flavorful. The only downside to the meal, was the tortilla. It was hard and crusty, a bit on the stale side on one half of it, and they didn't deliver the butter... who eats a tortilla "sin montequilla"....?? It didn't destroy the entire meal, but a little disappointing. Wait staff and greeters were very cool. Will be back Wecks- beef up the tortillas- this is NM and we do have our standards when it comes to those, and our chili...LOL OH and heads up when ordering the coffee- they charge more for the flavor of the day- not sure why- read more

On July 31 (Sunday), I had a wonderful meal, as usual. The Papas were cooked to perfection and everything was delicious. What I want to review today is the outstanding service that I received and witnessed. My server had to deal with some of the most difficult clients I have EVER seen who were at the table next to me. They were the highest maintenance, rudest, nastiest clients a server could ever have to deal with. I even suspect they were trying to get a free meal from the beginning. My waitress handled herself very politely and professionally while I wanted to punch the people. The manager also handled himself professionally and very patiently, both towards the clients and his server. I want to compliment both the server and manager for the way they handled an impossible situation. read more

Excellent breakfast! I was promptly seated with friendly customer service. The Chocolate Macadamia Coffee was very good with a hint of chocolate flavor (medium roast). I tried the Papa Carnitas with Christmas (green & red mix) chili eggs over easy plate. Delicious! Hash browns were cooked through nicely and the carnitas very flavored (can tell the pork was marinated in green chili). The plate can feed two people; but there is a smaller bowl option for a couple dollars less. Price reasonable for the amount of food. I was served crazy fast (around 4 minutes)! Place was busy, but not packed (not sure how long they've been at this location). Manager even checked in around asking me and other customers about our food. So my partner and I- with visions of Huevos Rancheros dancing in my head, went there this morning. As it was the Sunday Brunch, their halls were packed with patrons and folks waiting to be seated. We were ushered in quickly even though it seemed so busy. Our waitress was competent and looked like a Weck's lifer. However, our food was mediocre at best. My eggs were undercooked, gooey whites oozing towards the outer edges. The Xmas chiles had a strange flavor that I couldn't identify until I read the bottles of chile for sale near the check out counter. MSG!!! They put MSG in their chile. Why? Chile is already incredibly flavorful. The LAST thing chile needs is MSG. (In addition to MSG, chicken stock + additional chicken fat. Their list of chile ingredients in both the red and green varieties is unnecessarily cumbersome and lent to their chile a rancid tone of unrendered fat.) Overall, the food was just gross, like the quality that you might find at a foul smelling camp cafeteria from the 80's. Don't go here. It's not worth the heart attack. read more

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Weck's food! I have been a long time customer, however, I continue to have the same issue every time I pick up my food. We usually order out and nine times out of ten our order is wrong. I thought maybe it was just this Juan Tabo location, but the one time we went to a different location, it happened there too. We order the sloppy papas bowl, lunch enchiladas and 3 extra tortillas and majority of the time at least one thing is wrong. The one time I took my food home without checking everything was wrong so I called and filed a complaint. He told me the gravy I was missing on my sloppy papas bowl only comes with the plate, but now every time I place an order and ask for the gravy in my bowl the staff tells me that it already comes with it so that is a bit confusing. I made a trip to Wecks this morning and again my order was wrong and had to be fixed. Its frustrating because we love the food and love the service, but don't know if we will continue to come because our order is almost always wrong. I have to add that when I complained to the manager, he did reimburse me and every time I bring it to the staff's attention that my order is wrong and needs to be fixed, they are very gracious and apologetic, but this keeps happening over and over again and so I had to write a review. read more

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars at this location is because the last time we went this week, the chile on my plate was cold, like the cooks didn't time the order properly.... I got a side of chile which was piping hot and didn't have time to form a skin like mine did, and when I added it it made it all warm nicely, so I didn't bother to send it back. The waitress gave great service and still got a holiday sized tip from us as we've been there before. Our other dish was fine temp wise. We love coming to Wecks when we are in Albuquerque until today. Our waitress was Amber and she was terrible. My brother used to come to Wecks almost every morning until a few months ago. Amber was his waitress on a couple of occasions and even though he complained to the manager, the service was just as bad today as when he got her as a waitress before. The table next to us got their food before us even though they arrived before us and had another server. When our food finally came out, it was cold. She stacked our toast on top of our food instead of serving it on a plate. My husband had to go to the kitchen to get plates for our table. The manager saw this and we told him what happened. Then we never saw Amber again to even get our check. We had to ask the manager for our check. If we didn't know this is not the normal for this restaurant we would not come back. One bad waitress can ruin your perception of a restaurant and a manager who doesn't fix a problem waitress can lose customers. We were very disappointed. read more

If I could give less stars I would, we had a poor experience. First we had a hair in our water, after waiting for 10 minutes for our waiter they never showed. I had to track down the waiter and when I told them there was a hair in my water she said do you want a new one, uh no I would prefer more hair, what do you think. Then when they brought the food out to the table the server put their hand right in our burrito and had make a new one. The bowl of papas then had another hair in it. We told the manager and we could see the manager and server laughing about it. I will not be going back to this wrecks location. read more

Anyone that eats at weck's has no idea what real food tastes like. Enough green or red chile can make anything taste OK. This so called food is nothing but frozen crap smothered, so a Human cannot taste it. I'm a retired Professional Truck driver that has eaten all around this great country and weck's frozen garb is not fit for animal consumption much less Humans!
