The lady who was claiming to be the manager was extremely rude and should be fired immediately. Our experience was so bad we walked out. When we showed up at the outdoor check in both, the woman demanded i use a cell phone (which i left at home charging) to scan then guest list. I asked her if there was another to sign and she said no I must have a phone. My brother stepped up from behind me and offered to use his phone. The lady again rudely looked at me and said are you guys related I said yes he is my brother, and she responded saying are you sure he's your bother? To that my brother responded do you want to just go somewhere else because the lady has twice been rude to us. I responded yes and we walked out. Edit* Your manager is a liar no one cussed her out, secondly we were sitting at the first table outside and that is why we did not have masks on. I think I've eaten at every Weck's around, but yesterday's experience was the worst. I made the mistake of telling my dining companions that I had never had a bad meal at a Weck's, and my confidence in things took a turn for the worst. We were there well after the rush hour, after 1:00 p.m., and the place was almost empty. Hubby ordered a 2-egg breakfast, scrambled with wheat toast and CRISP bacon. When it came, his eggs were over easy with white toast and the bacon was limp. It went back to the kitchen. I ordered the soup of the day - minestrone - and half a BLT. When it was delivered, the minestrone had turned into chicken green chile soup. The right soup finally came, and it had an odd and unusual taste, like it had just been scraped out of a can and into the cup for heating in the microwave. It was not good. I took one bite of the BLT and ended up not finishing it---the guacamole was SUPER HOT!!! and the bacon was tough and limp. My daughter ordered a chicken quesadilla, and the guacamole that came with it was so hot that she couldn't eat it. I don't know if it was the kitchen or the server, but all three of our meals left a great deal to be desired. Guacamole that is served to the general public should NEVER NEVER NEVER be as hot as it was yesterday. We brought the problem to the manager's attention and she very nicely comped our meals after we told her of all of the issues. But things like this hardly ever happen at a Weck's, and I certainly hope that the upper management and the powers that be that determine recipes will make adjustments to the recipe for guacamole to make sure that it isn't mouth-burning hot. read more

This place gives HUGE portions so if you plan on coming here, hope you come HUNGRY! They are great about catering to your dietary needs, eg gluten free and dairy free for me and my friends. Papas. That's what I had. I had not heard of papas before. Apparently papas is a bowl of potatoes covered with other food. In this case I had a bowl of shredded potatoes covered with scrambled eggs, onions, peppers, cheese and mild sausage gravy. It was pretty good and filling. I ordered the smallest size of papas. I can't imagine anyone eating the larger one as I didn't even finish the smaller portion. There are a number of Weck's restaurants around Albuquerque and they seem to serve up solid breakfast fare consistently...at least that's my impression after trying two locations. read more

Went to eat breakfast at Weck's just over a week ago. There was a small wait, which they managed nicely by stationing someone outside to take names. He offered for us to wait in the car if we preferred but we opted to wait in the shade. Inside tables were spaced appropriately and there was hand sanitizer on each table. On our way to Taos, the GPS directed us to the freeway going way further than we had to. ( I told Jeff to follow my directions, but no, the GPS is always right.) We stopped for breakfast. Our waitress was phenomenal. She was from Taos and she helped supplement the directions on the GPS. (Jeff didn't want to listen to her, either.) The 4th star is for her. She was that good. She kept our cups full, which is a big deal to me. She even offered to put our drinks in to-go cups for the road! Several times during our visit, she stopped by to check on us, not obnoxiously, not overbearing, but with a genuine desire to make sure that we were comfortable. My green chile chicken enchiladas were ok. The green chile didn't have much heat nor salt. It was fine. I loved the eggs on top. I wouldn't have eaten the hash browns, but I was super hungry. Deb ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage. I knew that she wouldn't finish. She ate one biscuit and one sausage. I ate part of the other biscuit, but I gave my arteries a break and didn't partake. The manager came to check on us, too. Weck's is one of the best places for breakfast/brunch. Their portions are large and the food is tasty (especially their hot green chili). The waitstaff is attentive and even when having to wait for seating it is generally not a long wait. Good hometown cooking. The portions are very generous and the food is amazing. The service was great and very helpful. The papa's sloppy is a super tasty dish. Massive portions. Good price. Many locations. This puts Weck's as one of my highest recommendations. Must be the same for others too ... if you're not there early for breakfast or late for lunch, you'll wait for 10-25 min for a table. One of the marks of a good breakfast place is that they cook to order and GET IT RIGHT. Weck's does this. I asked for very crispy hash browns = perfectly done. My friends' eggs - friend 1 over medium, spot on, friend 2 sunny side up, perfect. And all our food came out at same time and hot. Excellent timing. If you are not a big eater, share one plate between 2 (maybe order a big fluffy pancake on side) OR order off the children's menu. It's cheaper and still a good portion of food. If you wait in line, don't worry, you'll be seated soon (they turn tables quickly). If you decide to enjoy your cup of coffee after the meal, don't worry, they don't pressure you to give up your table. read more

Great place for massive New Mexico style breakfasts, which basically means your standard American breakfast favorites served with green or red chiles and/or wrapped a tortilla or with tortillas on the side. Cheap, very kid friendly, good coffee, and you will definitely need a take-out box. This is a very average place with average food and nothing to take home about. This came up as a recommendation from on of the locals that I met and thought of giving this place a try. It was sunday and the balloon fiesta weekend and this place was jam packed. We had an estimated 20 mins wait before a spot opened up. Locals swear by this place but I think I have definitely had better food than what we got here. The pancakes according to our hostess were the best in town but I choose to differ. Lets just leave it at that. We got the huevos rancheros and that was decent. Two over easy eggs and hash and tortilla. I preferred it the christmas style with red and green chili sauces! It was fabulous and since the chilis have a little kick to it we chose to have it with a little dollop of cream! Amazing customer service is what makes Weck's the place to eat a great breakfast. The staff was attentive and friendly. They also have a policy, which reads: "If for any reason after taking the first bite of your meal and are not 100% satisfied we will replace it with something else or remove it from your bill." Driving through Albuquerque heading to California from Iowa, we saw the building from the interstate as we were stopping for fuel. Best decision was to eat here. The service was phenomenal! As soon as we walked in we were seated. Being hungry but not quite knowing what I wanted, we asked for a few minutes to decide. I chose to go with the Carnitas Papas. The menu said shredded pork atop a mountain of hash browns... Let me tell you that was an understatement. There was a lot of cheesy delicious hash browns and shredded pork with mixed with a green chile sauce. My companion ordered a simple Chicken Cesar wrap with a side of fruit bowl. The wrap was prepared really well. Just the right amount of Cesar. The chicken was properly cooked. The only issue she had with the dish was the fruit bowl. But that isn't quite a negative. There had been quite a bit of diced pineapple. She isn't a fan of pineapple. So we asked the waiter to bring a small dish so she could put the pineapple in it for me to eat. Not only did the waiter bring a spare dish. He brought a second dish with mixed berries. When we finished eating, we were brought to go boxes and cups. Completely satisfied with everything, we left a large cash tip, as well as a tip on the card. We will definitely be stopping here again next trip we take! read more

Our experience in Weck's is normally positive. Today I had a chicken quesadilla, my husband had chicken enchiladas. Both of us agree that the chicken tasted old and nasty. I will have a hard time EVER wanting to go back for anything. The wait staff are incredible as ever, as is the management We had brunch here today. He had breakfast burrito, I had 2 egg breakfast. The food was excellent. My most important comment is on service today. I am hypoglycemic. I asked the wait staff if she could bring me fruit right away because my blood sugar was low. Excellent breakfast, especially if you have a big appetite. I ordered the basic eggs, and hash browns with green chilies. There were 2-3 cups (not 2/3s) of delicious hash browns with liberal chunks of ham and cheese throughout. The eggs were lovely color and flavor, and cooked to perfection. Iced tea was flavorful and an added bonus - their to-go cups celebrate the balloon festival. To top if off, servers were warm & welcoming. It's a mountain of hash browns with your choice of red and/or green chile (I get both, then add a side of the red), cheddar and jack cheeses, topped with two eggs, and served with a tortilla. They have friendly service and are very attentive. Came here a few times during their morning rush on a Sunday (as church service was getting out) and had to wait about 45 minutes, but it wasn't too bad considering what you are getting. This store is "my" Weck's. I meet others here every Wednesday, and have done so since February 2007. Lorina is the server we always ask for because she's simply amazing. I've never experienced such thoughtful service anywhere else. She not only pretty much immediately learned our regular orders, but took the opportunity to train another server, Sarah, as backup when Lorina's not there! She's just the best. The rest of that crew is a lot like Lorina - friendly, thoughtful, and very willing to accommodate our needs. The menu is, if you're unfamiliar, VERY hearty with a strong New Mexico influence. If you're focused on healthy more than hearty eating, they're happy to help with that too - just ask your server for help. Management is highly visible, and even with regulars like my own group, routinely check in to make sure we're satisfied with the food and the service. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a spot to become a "regular," like Cheers without the beer! read more

Wecks! Not only is Wecks my favorite place to eat a very filling, over the top, breakfast, but I absolutely love the coffee of the day! The staff at Wecks are always friendly and patient, because it takes me forever to decide what to order. I have been eating breakfast and lunch at Wecks for years (too many to admit to) and always leave there feeling very satisfied and knowing it was well worth the money spent. Wecks is a great place to meet friends on a Sunday after church. I usually get the juevos rancheros and have yet to finish my serving. Do I leave it? No. Leftovers always come home with me for later. The restaurant manager is on top of the customer service game, always checking on customers to make sure they are content and the food is satisfying. Wow! What a great place to eat. I had the Papas pork Carnitas plate with Xmas sauce , two eggs over easy on top, and it was out of this world! When it came out it was so huge my eyes about popped out of my head along with the table sitting next to me wondering how one person was going to eat all of that food. More hashbrowns than you can shake a stick at. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient, with warm smiles and great attitudes. The manager personally came by and ask everyone how their food was, nice touch!
