Weco was alright, but it's not the most impressive brewery or Biergarten that I've been to recently. They had a solid selection of IPAs, but none with particularly high alcohol content volumes. Additionally, while they had a lot of different flavored beers, none of the ones that I tried were very good (to be blunt.) I did appreciate the multitude of portions that they offered, where you could get a small glass for about $3.75, which allows you to try a few different brews for an affordable price. I loved the two (2) staff members that I interacted with, who definitely knew their fermentation, and were friendly about holding a conversation. They also had a very large selection of canned beers, which perhaps I should have tried rather than relying solely on the tap. Overall, Weco was fun and I'll probably be back to try some more of their beers in the future, but I think it lags behind most of the other Biergartens I've been to in the surrounding area. read more

I drop by this joint a few times a week as it's right in the middle of one of the upcoming spots in the midlands. If you want a quick beer for a reasonable price, they'll sell you high quality from the tap out in the patio for $4 cash. It's a limited selection of six beers and ciders, but there's always something that'll surprise you at that price. Inside, it's a different story. There are sixteen taps of IPAs, sours, a stout or porter or two, local lagers, German dunkels, and a rotating cast that will satisfy the beer nerd and beer newbie. It's still reasonable on the wallet, though. If nothing catches your fancy from a keg, turn around and behold the coolers full of goodness from around the country and world. IPAs of all varieties start on the right and roll into sours and ciders. Then, the lager and pilsners manifest on the shelves along with the European entrants in the cabaret. To the left, darkness abounds with stouts and roasted, malty libations. You can find some snacks in there as well: pimento cheese and pesto from The Whig with pretzels to dip. In season, there are boiled peanuts so be sure to ask for an empty cup for shells. If you need a kombucha or soft drink, look in the last cooler and you'll find what you want. If you're not a beer drinker, there is a wall full of wines and the staff will point you to one that'll match what you're craving. I asked for a recommendation that would go with take-out Chinese one night and was pointed to the perfect pairing. Hungry? The food trucks are lining up to get in here and there has been one every night lately with two some nights. On Saturday and Sunday, the mimosas start before 11 ($4!!!!) and the food trucks serve brunch. It's a great way to start the day. If a food truck doesn't show for some reason, check out one of the close-by kitchens and grab something to go and eat it at one of the dozens of picnic tables spaced around the premises. There's plenty of space on the patio and in the Biergarten. Bring your friends but don't be a jerk. Wear your mask when you order at the bars and keep your dogs and kids close by. Driving home on Labor Day this year we wanted to find a local spot to enjoy a few brews. WECO was one of the only places open near Columbia so we had to stop. They also happened to be doing a Labor Day cookout that afternoon a d the bbq smelled and looked so delicious. This place was very neat and had ample outdoor seating. I loved that it had both and indoor and outdoor bar so everyone could spread out better. We really enjoyed our beers and ended up striking up a wonderful conversation with a local couple sharing the picnic table with us. We went to Weco on Wednesday night and had to move under the cover during the big rainstorm. My two granddaughters were having a blast playing in the rain and people were watching and smiling. My daughter went and got her food and when she tried to get her 17 month old to side down to eat, she got upset and started crying. We couldn't walk outside because it was raining and she was thinking she needed to leave. Then a female bartender from inside came and told her she had to get her child under control. And then there is the huge Biergarten which I observed transforming from a broken concrete Iot to an all-season patio and lots of greenery. There is a cheap(er) cash bar for maybe 6-8 beers outside and a large regular price selection on tap inside. WECO also has food trucks every single day and the nicest servers you will find in West Columbia. The fact that they needed to buy an overflow parking lot testifies to that! read more

A super smart move, right before Covid hit, for the owners to open an outdoor drinking garden on a lot that's at least an acre, fully fenced, with grass and a covered seating area--to which they recently added heaters. You can even bring your dog. It's a beer garden, so unfortunately, the wine selection sucks. Otherwise I would give this place five stars. But at least that wine isn't overpriced. read more

I really thought this was gonna be The Whig of the Vista West, do people still call it that? I was surprised it's much more of a family type atmosphere. Our favorite brunch place recently discontinued brunch, so we've been on the prowl for something new. One recent Sunday we tried this out, and we loved it. The neat thing is they don't serve food, they just have food trucks come in. There seems to be a rotating schedule, They update it on the website, and on Facebook, sometimes right before they open, so you better check before going out. The staff is super friendly, and will allow you to sample the beers on tap. They also have beers and wine for sale, you can drink them there, there's a small fee, kind of like a cork fee I guess you could say, it's like 2 fity or something, and the beer is reasonably priced. They have a huge outdoor area, a covered patio, and a large yard area, this used to be a garden center, with lots of tables. You can bring your dogs, and kids. The animals are not allowed on the covered patio, but they should be fine in the garden area. read more

Great place to chill out, have a great beer, and hit a food truck.

I went to WECO yesterday evening around 6:30pm to meet up with a friend. They had sufficient parking and I believe even more parking to the left in front of their building. I was greeted by both of their friendly bartenders and found an open seat. The other customers were also super friendly and even pulled up an extra bar chair for my friend to sit beside me. The bartender was gracious with giving us samples and recommendations! I had the Florida Man IPA from Cigar City Brewing and absolutely loved it! I also overheard the bartender saying you could buy their bottles & canned beers there and you got $2 off when poured there. I thought that was pretty neat! I loved the character and atmosphere. I def got an artsy, hip, and neighborhood type atmosphere from this bar & Biergarten. The owner of The Whig opened this place up and I love how I get that same type of feel here with a diverse and nice crowd. I see myself coming here regularly in the near future to relax during the work week, a night out on the town, and impressing an out of towner a local gem. I'm already recommending friends go check it out!! I loved all the rotating beer selections which I don't always find. read more
