If you're looking for your wedding dress, do not shop here, horrible place! The greeting wasn't friendly, no water or bubbly offered, the place smelled, etc. I've been to eight bridal shops now around the twin cities, and this shop was by far the worst! First, I didn't even have a say in which dresses I got to try on, and I was not able to browse their selection once... The stylist asked about my event and style, and guessed from there - from the many dresses I tried on, I liked maybe one or two! And when I was allowed to look at some of their sample dresses it was near the end of my appt., and the stylist wouldn't let me try the last one on (with even just a few minutes left)!! Every other shop has let me try on the last dress or last few dresses when time was running out! And on top of that, they don't write down the styles you like, they tell you to take pictures of the tags and say they will "put it in your profile." Even if I had loved a dress here, I would pay double to shop elsewhere! read more

I went to the Wedding Shoppe after visiting David's Bridal and Brides of France. And I was feeling a little discouraged prior to me Wedding Shoppe appointment. I got to my appointment (which was this past Thursday) and I cannot rave enough!! I was checked in to my appointment and they brought me upstairs where I discussed my style and budget ($500 -$700 but upper end off $1k). My stylist brought up 4 dresses that were all in my price range and all styles I described. I loved the 2nd and the 4th the most. My mom made a comment about how she wanted the top of the 2nd to be combined with the 4th.. the stylist brought up 3 more dresses to try and the last one was my dress!! I tried it on and it brought my mom and sisters too tears. I was so excited and the best thing was the dress was $599!! I also ended up purchasing a vail and the dress preservation kit (something I had no idea about before the appointment). Everyone at The Wedding Shoppe was so kind and cheery. They helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Never was I overwhelmed nor did I feel pressured. I would HIGHLY recommend to any bride! I will most likely be going back from my bridesmaid dresses now too! read more

I went to the Wedding Shoppe today to look for a wedding dress and I had an amazing experience. Willow was incredible to work with. She really understood the kind of look and style I was looking for. Willow never pressured me to make a decision and I was able to try on some dresses two or three times to make sure I was pleased with my dress. I was able to find the perfect wedding dress! I had group of 6 with me and they were very accommodating. We were placed in a nice-sized room upstairs and everyone was very comfortable. We were able to take as many pictures as we wanted. Everyone was friendly at the Wedding Shoppe. I highly recommend Wedding Shoppe if you are looking for a wedding dress. read more

Super disappointed with this store. My daughter was measured for a dress and even tried one on at the store. They didn't have her size so she tried the next size up which was too big. They still ordered her that size and now I just paid for alterations that were the same amount as purchasing a new dress. I called to complain and they offered me a $20 credit toward alterations. This doesn't even cover 1/4 of the cost of alterations! read more

I have to deduct one star for spelling "Shop" with a "ppe." That always irks me. The other things that bother me about the Wedding "Shop" include: 1. Pulling out the manufacturer's/designer's tag from all the dresses. This strikes me as an antitrust infringement or against some kind of fair business practice. 2. Prohibiting the use of cameras until you select your dress. Draconian! 3. Incompetent staff at the register. When paying for my dress, the employee manning the register asked to swipe the credit card before showing me the contract, which he fully expected me to sign. I informed him, sweetly, that I don't pay for things and then sign contracts and that I would like to review the contract before putting money down. He acted like that was an absurd request, talked down to me, and eventually his manager stepped in and let me review the contract. On the upside, the staff is nice (if not excellent at ascertaining a customer's preferred style), there's no sales tax (since it's MN), my prior shopping for bridesmaids' dresses for a friend's wedding was more pleasant than the bridal shopping experience, and the selection is really large and quite diverse in terms of styles and price points for bridal and bridesmaid attire. read more

Pretentiousness makes me n-e-r-v-o-u-s. Fortunately we live in a city that is sort of known for being ultra-casual without all that glitz and glam. Despite this fact, every once in awhile I find myself in situations where pretentiousness attempts to rear its ugly head and make me feel like I might break out in hives. Unfortunately, planning a wedding has a tendency to sway into the category of the ostentatious so when I find places that I expect to be rampant with pompous windbags that AREN'T, I get giddy and happy. Thank you Alterations Department at The Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul for being super cool! I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the energy? Maybe it's all the excitement and the starry-eyed brightness that all those hopeful soon-to-be brides are giving off. But everybody who works here is crazy friendly. And genuinely nice (which I know we all know means much, much, MUCH more than Minnesota nice). I've met with a couple seamstresses over the course of my fittings and decided that they are shining examples of what my fiance calls "the St. Paul Woman." The St. Paul Woman is no nonsense. She loves animals, children and watching the sun set over a body of water. She knows dressing up doesn't "make" a woman. She doesn't mince words and tells it like it is. She's sort of a pessimist: especially were ice and bugs are concerned. And when she is an old woman, she will wear purple. Seriously, these ladies don't mess around. They do a damn good job and when they tell you that you look beautiful, you'd better believe them because this is strictly a NO LIP SERVICE kind of place and genuine compliments demand gratitude. read more

Truly a classy operation. They carry a wide range of styles at a variety of price points. The salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful. I found my dress on the sample rack for $200. I found it at the end of trying on dozens of dresses. I put it on and it fit perfectly. Score! In my case, the cost of alterations was nearly as much as the dress itself, but that is to be expected. You can also expect to tack on another $100 to $200 for a tiara and a veil--they get you coming and going, because they assume that money is no object (particularly if a bride's parents are paying). If you are cost-conscious, get your dress here and the accessories elsewhere. But they do have a good selection here and prices are not higher than at other bridal shops. They have some nice sale shoes - I got a white satin pair dyed taupe for a wedding I was a bridesmaid in, for $50 including the shoes AND the dye job. For me, things didn't work out quite as expected. I ended my engagement, so canceled the second round of alterations and went to pick up the dress as-is. The Wedding Shoppe made everything easy during a difficult time, and I will always be grateful for that. read more

If I could do less than one star I would. I live in California but I ordered my bridesmaid dress online in March 2013, upon ordering it I was told that it would take 12-14 weeks and should arrive on or before July 5th. Well I received an email 3 DAYS before the delivery date (of July 5th-which is the end of the 14 weeks btw) stating that the dress is not going to be here until July 12th (the next Friday.) They are blaming the designer and saying that they have backups there with the designers. Well now is it July 11th and I still have not heard anything from the shop so I call early this morning, I leave a message with Mary who is the online processing manager, I still hadn't received a call back 2 hours later. So I call back and speak with someone else, this woman basically tells me that the dress is not there and she doesn't know whats going on with it. But she will have Mary call me within the hour. I am patiently waiting for her phone call to see whether or not I will have to cancel my order at the VERY VERY last minute. Overall I am very dissatisfied with this whole order and everything they have promised has yet to come through. Now I have to deal with a very unhappy bride who thinks I won't even have a dress. The wedding is now 2 weeks away and I have no dress. I should have had this dress with more than enough time to spare for alterations and such. The Wedding Shoppe does not stay in contact with their customers and then at the last minute inform the customer that something is wrong with the order. I am so unhappy with this whole experience I wish I had never ordered through them. read more

I was pretty disappointed with my experience at the Wedding Shoppe. I've heard mixed reviews (my friends loved it) but I was still super excited to go because of their fantastic selection of dresses. The space is, well, not the greatest. It's ugly and dirty, simply put. And its packed - always. We arrived early for our appointment and were not given a consultant until 15 minutes after our appointment was scheduled to start. Here's the best part -- they switched consultants midway through my appointment to let the first consultant go to lunch. Really??? How were they not able to plan for this? I absolutely loved my experience at the Wedding Shoppe! All of the ladies working here were so kind, helpful and so easy to talk to! The dresses they have are so beautiful and reasonably priced. I found my dream dress and I couldn't be happier! I put it on and it fit like a glove!! The Wedding Shoppe was the first appointment I had for the day and I ended up going to one other appointment elsewhere before canceling them all and coming back here! I truly couldn't be happier. I would not recommend this shop to any bride who wants to feel special while looking for a dress. I went on a Saturday, which I'm sure made a huge difference, but the area I was in was crowded, and my consultant was obviously just looking for a sale. My mom and sister were awkwardly placed in chairs right in a busy doorway, and there were a bunch of other people all gathered around, which not only made it awkward to use the mirrors, but also forced me to wait every time I wanted to show my mom and sister a dress. The consultant pressured me waaaay too much-- it was the first store I had been to, but she made it seem like if I walked out the door, I would never get any dress I wanted. Ever. Not my idea of a fun shopping trip-- and my sister and mom completely hated their time there. My consultant showed dressed either right near my budget or above-- even though I said the number I gave was the max. She also kept hinting that I would not be able to find the sort of dress I was looking for in my budget. Seriously? $2,000 can't find me a decent dress? I wasn't asking for name brand high fashion looks! I did not like that I couldn't actually look through dresses myself (even though I don't blame them), given that my consultant didn't wow me with her choices for me. I did end up finding two dresses I liked, but I felt so completely rushed and pressured that I passed on them. I went to Mary Kay's Bridal in St. Louis Park the next day and was wowed. I still think about those two dresses from the Shoppe, but even if I tried those on next to the one I bought from M.K.'s and decided I preferred one from the Shoppe, I would still buy one from M.K.'s just because they were so much more kind, caring, and genuine. Sure, the Wedding Shoppe has a huge selection, but in the end, it just isn't worth it. I was hesitant to start looking for a dress, I had no clue what I wanted. Shannon did a great job of guessing what I might like, giving my options and asking questions without overwhelming me with questions. She paid attention to the details I liked on each dress I tried and found the most gorgeous dress I would not have guessed I would love! The dressing room was private and made the event feel special for me and my guests. The gowns were all lovely. I am considering going back to try on my favorite one more time! read more

I purchased my dress here in October 2014 on a $1,100 budget. I would give Wedding Shoppe a 3.5 if I could. Since there are a lot of negative reviews, let's start with the cons: - this a very popular, and thus, crowded bridal shop. because it's in an old house, there's not too much to be done to make the entrance better - it's busy and overwhelming. - there are a couple of fitting rooms that are less than ideal and the space for your friends/family to sit is small - I've heard that their alterations are pricey. This wasn't a huge deal for me because I wasn't planning on having them do the alterations. I would recommend everyone get their alterations done elsewhere. - When I picked up my dress, there was a big kink in the back of the fabric. I wish they had gotten this out before I picked up the dress. The pros: - I got super lucky to be paired with the general manager as my consultant. She was incredible to work with; she brought out things in my budget, encouraged me to try things that I normally wouldn't, and really listened to me. I ended up buying a dress I would've never tried without her encouragement - The selection is unlike any other place I visited -- they have SO much in so many different price ranges - My dress came in super quick. I didn't need it quickly since I was buying a year in advance, but I know this is a good thing for a lot of brides! I think everyone in the Cities should shop at the Wedding Shoppe at some point. You'll get many different choices at your price point. With that said, remember that this is a small space. I would recommend bringing no more than 2 people with you. Having any more is overwhelming for you and for the staff. You'll have a much better experience if you are selective with your "crew." read more

I had done my research prior to my Wedding Shoppe appointment, and I knew which styles of gowns I was interested in. I chose the WS because I had heard that they had some of the largest selection of gowns in MN. I worked with a consultant named Katie, who was excellent. (Request her!) She read my personality well, and brought me gowns that fit within my style criteria. The very first dress she brought in was "the one". The dressing rooms are large, and I felt at ease. Be sure to bring a strapless bra and/or a bustier, and full coverage panties or a slip are an absolute must. (Getting measured for your gown in a thong is a bit disconcerting.) My only issue with the WS is that there is a separate dressing area for "plus size" brides, and it felt a little off-putting to be in a completely separate area (although the quietness of the plus-size area was nice). I didn't care for 99% of the plus-size samples they had. I am a street size 10/12, and I was a bit annoyed by the separation because it made finding the right dress a hassle. The gown I purchased was a "normal" sized sample and I would have liked to have had access myself to non-plus sized samples. Luckily, Katie picked a sample that I loved, otherwise I'd be giving The Wedding Shoppe two stars. read more

The entrance was completely overwhelming, with hordes of people and a 15 minute wait after my scheduled appointment time. To be expected the day before a huge bridal expo, I suppose.I had a somewhat low budget for this type of place, so I didn't expect to find my dress but still expected better. My consultant asked me what I was looking for and I gave her a pretty exact style I was after - little poof, little train, not strapless and lace. Only two dresses she put me in even remotely fit that description, and I tried many. After trying on a tulle dress I hated and telling her I didn't like tulle, she kept insisting I try different kinds of tulle. Almost everything she put me in was strapless and poofy. She kept telling me they could take out some layers to reduce the poof and add straps but that's pretty hard to envision and I worried it wouldn't look natural. Most of what I tried on just wasn't very flattering either and it's not just my body because I've been to other salons and tried on dresses that looked great on me. I felt like the consultant just found anything she could in my budget and threw it on me without listening or telling me they just didn't have much of the style I wanted in my budget. I'm sure this place is great for those with a higher budget, and thus a larger selection, but it just didn't work for me. read more

I was really looking forward to coming to the Wedding Shoppe to help my best friend find her wedding dress. However, I was pretty disappointed in how it all played out--it was surprisingly uncomfortable to go through. Our consultant immediately cornered my friend and started asking her about which bridal shops she'd already been too, which was weird and awkward. We had kind of a larger party (5 plus the bride) and between us and the other bride entourages, there was not even close to enough seating. My friend eventually decided that there was a dress at another shop that she liked better than any of the ones she'd tried on at the Wedding Shoppe, at which point, the consultant convinced my friend to spill which shop and which dress, and attempted to pressure her into ordering it at the Wedding Shoppe instead. All this before my friend had even gotten dressed again! So there she is, standing there in a robe while the consultant is all but browbeating her. We were so relieved to get out of there. On the up side, the woman in the bridesmaid dress area was very nice, if a little hands-off. We didn't have an appointment, but there was no one down there, so she let myself the other bridesmaid in our party just try on any dresses we wanted, no pressure or anything. It was a nice departure from the scenario upstairs. read more

I'm a bride shopping for a dress, but because I'm dead-set on the idea of a red wedding dress, I've had to shop in the bridesmaids section. So perhaps I would have had a better experience if I were in the bridal section, rather than being shunted to the weirdly crowded basement, where the bridesmaid stuff is. Tip One: You need a reservation. I heard this from a friend, so I was sure to get a reservation ahead of time, and it's a good thing, because the place was PACKED with brides and what seemed like their entire extended families. There were also, for some reason, several flower girls who were looking for dresses who also brought their entire families. I took one friend with me, and my five-year-old son, who is extremely quiet, obedient, and well-behaved. He sat on a chair while we chose dresses. The woman who helped us (down in the basement) wasn't exactly attentive, but she wasn't unhelpful either. I guess they probably save the good service for the brides who are paying $1,000 + for bridal dresses. Another woman who works down there kept snapping unnecessarily at my son not to lean against the mirror, not to run (he wasn't), and not to make noise (it was loud as it was). So: Tip Two: If you're going to venture into the basement to bridesmaid attire, don't bring children, no matter how well-behaved they are. The sour-looking gray-haired lady hates children. We found a few options, but had to ask to have the dresses pinned when the sample sizes were off, and we weren't really blown away by anything we saw. I didn't find The Dress here. And I was pretty weirded out by the indifferent service. I will say that their bridesmaids dresses aren't absurdly expensive. They're sort of a mid-range $150-350 per dress. Although, and this is probably true everywhere, but HOLY COW the bridal accessories are overpriced. read more

Granted, I've never stepped foot in the store itself... but ordering from the tiny island of Singapore sure made me a believer. When you're a bridesmaid for a wedding on the other side of the world and expected to get a dress on short notice, you freak a bit. Esp. after all the warnings of how long it takes to make the dress (due to the dye job and all) and ship it to the opposite corner of the globe... But ordering from the Wedding Shoppe site was a breeze and Angi Kigin was the best customer service rep I could ask for (after double confirming the ship date, then changing the address mid-way through!). Glad to say that I received my Alfred Angelo bridesmaid dress in less than 2 months (which was quicker than the estimates), with plenty of time to spare for alterations and whatnot. Now if only they magically could produce a set of matching shoes, it would sure make my life a heck of a lot easier... read more

After Jen E's great wedding dress experience, she took her bridesmaids (including me) to the Wedding Shoppe to find our attendant dresses. We had an appointment, but upon arriving that place was CHAOS! Luckily, with the appointment we had a dressing room downstairs and the seriously, extremely patient and friendly floor reps showed us to it quickly to get us out of that crazyzone. We probably tried on nearly 100 dresses, Jen bringing them in by the armful. And then we re-tried and then we restarted with a new search and then we tried and clamped some more... all the while, the sales people nicely left us alone and took away our discarded dresses. There were a few random head-pokings in, with the salesladies catching me in my skivvies, but apparently that's all in a day's work for them. They mostly left us alone which is what we wanted - though that might have been because the ladies next to us seriously brought like 15 people to their bridesmaid dress shopping excursion. We were there almost two hours and seriously tried on a zillion dresses, and the salespeople were nothing but polite. Once we found it, we were swiftly measured and given instructions for payment and beyond. One deposit was required, but Jen didn't even have to choose the color yet (then again, the big day is over 5 months away). All in all, I was very pleased with the Wedding Shoppe, and the Saturday morning bridecraziness made it even more impressive. WS loses one star for some of the skeezy/broken zipper/button/etc samples, plus the fabric samples are really small so it's hard to imagine the dress in that color full-size. That's really the only negative thing I have to say. I truly can't imagine the sort of patience and energy it takes to work at a place like this. They are located on Grand Ave and I say they because they have a group of old homes that are converted into a wedding dress shop, tux, alterations, storage, etc. This wedding shop was busy and although they had appointments, they still took me in with my 3 sisters and my mom. They had quite the selection in wedding dresses and they have a section where there was a sale section and then separated by price range. The fitting room was a good size (it fit all of us girls in there). The area where you stand in the mirror in front of everyone could have been bigger. There was only room for at most 3 brides-to-be. Downstairs in the basement was the bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride section. They had plenty of dresses to choose from and I just picked it out not too long ago. Because of their friendly and attentive service, their prices were within budget, I recommend this place to any bride in the Twin Cities. They definitely have the selection and the service to help you find what it is that you're looking for. read more

This place has been great for my bride friends and terrible for me, the bridesmaid. Not only did they measure all of the wedding party way too big, they were not clear about extra charges. Great dress selection for brides. But save yourself the grief of their poor customer service for your wedding party. -basically ignored for 40 minutes while trying to check out -didn't even acknowledge extra charges for sizes -not even close sizing, expect to have to alter your dress drastically not just slightly -pray nothing goes wrong with a dress, because they are slow to call back and slower to help you find a solution -will not make the bride feel better or calmer if stressful situations arise read more

I have been to the Wedding Shoppe several times over the last year and I have to say, once you get past the front door, you are treated pretty well. Word of warning: if you go in, on a weekend, as wedding season approaches, expect organized chaos. There are brides, bridesmaids, MOTBs (mothers of the brides) EVERYWHERE. Despite the sheer number of people in these compartively small houses (lots of people + lots of dresses= not a lot of room to wait for a room). The selection for wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses are great. Since they are such an established bridal shoppe, they have their own bridesmaids dresses lines that are very similar to designer brands, but at a fraction of the cost. I just got a great dress there for my roommate's wedding that cost $138. Now that's cheap for a bridesmaids dress and it looks fabulous. They also have a good selection of prom dresses etc, so it's not limited to the bridal set. read more

My future sister-in-law, Diane, found the Wedding Shoppe through some research and referrals, and made an appointment on Black Friday to find her wedding dress. Diane was really nervous going into her appointment, but her consultant made her feel at ease right off the bat. She asked a lot of questions to make sure she got a feel for the wedding style and what Diane was looking for in her dress. From there, she worked her magic. I didn't know what to expect, as this was my first bridal appointment, but I certainly didn't anticipate the consultant would find the perfect dress so quickly. She had a very keen sense on what A) the bride wanted and B) would complement her well. I was crying like a fool once she "said yes to the dress." No shame in that game. I'm incredibly happy for my brother and cannot wait to see his face when Diane walks down the aisle in August. Today, we returned to the Wedding Shoppe for bridesmaid dress shopping. MAKE NOTE: unlike the bridal shopping where the bride gets a private section with the consultant, you get a communal stall for the entire bridal party this time around. Let's be honest, you're probably going to see crazier than that at the bachelorette party anyways, but if the thought of dropping down into your skivvies with multiple other women makes you cringe, then you've been warned. Once again, the consultant was very helpful and we found the perfect dresses in no time. The Wedding Shoppe is known for their reasonable prices, which is key, but I also give them major credit for alleviating stress from the bride and working hard to ensure she has the day she's always dreamed of. read more

I have to let you know that I was extremely skeptical about going to the Wedding Shoppe for my dress.... I always thought of it as a shop that was impersonal because they do so much volume. I've worked in retail for 14 years, and at the time I was shopping for my dress I was working for a high-end department store that sold wedding dresses, and I got a significant discount there. I made two trips to the Wedding Shoppe, my first appointment was by myself, which I highly recommend, on an afternoon, so I could get a good idea of the selection they had. I felt less rushed, and the consultant I worked with was awesome.... in fact she was so awesome I recruited her away from the Wedding Shoppe, and a month later she was working for the store I managed... Anyway, she listened to what I had to say, I wanted a dress made of real silk and no chintzy embroidery. The consultant showed me about a dozen dresses, and about 70% of them I liked, she also allowed me to to look around for myself, which many salons don't allow. Three weeks later I had three appointments, at several shops, this time with my mom and best friend. We went to Rush's, Macy's, and Wedding Shoppe. I found Rush's to be dirty, poorly lit, and the selection just wasn't what I hoped for. Macy's was OK, but I wasn't allowed to look at the dresses for myself, which was frustrating because sometimes it is hard to put your finger on what you really want until you see it. So I went back to the Wedding Shoppe with but this time with my heirloom lace belgian veil in hand. This time at the Wedding Shoppe it was a Saturday, and it was uber-crowded. I don't recommend going on a Saturday. Despite the crowd, I still got great service from my consultant, and she found me the perfect 100% silk dress with no beading or details to match my lace veil, and it was only $1,200. The comprable Reem Acra and Amsale samples I had tried on at Macy's were $3,000+. I double, tripled checked the fabric tag, and it was real silk. The consultant said she could provide 20% off if I did cash & carry, so I was sold. The only downside of the Wedding Shoppe is the fact that their facilities are so small, for the number of dresses they carry, I think they need to invest in a building that has more space with more modern ammenities, and a large parking lot, as having to walk through the snow and finding street parking is annoying. Overall, if you are wanting to spend less than $2,000 on a Wedding dress, there probably isn't a better place for selection and price in the Twin Cities. Don't bring a half dozen friends.... the fewer opinions and bodies the better, and don't bring your coffee and food into a store that sells white, dry-clean only dresses. Make a weekday appointment, and go with an open mind! read more

I made The Wedding Shoppe stop one on my journey to finding a wedding dress. I was hopeful the experience would go well because of the vast selection of dresses they carry, which is a great selling point in why you would come here. I also have rather defined taste in what I liked & was looking for. Due to COVID no one is able to wander the floor & look at dresses. So unfortunately the experience wasn't great as it came down to the success of the relationship of who we were assigned (which you'd hope would be fine). The individual we worked with demonstrated rather opinionated communication; not actively listening to my comments or hopes for my dress. For example, at one point I was discussing aspects of the dresses with my mom and friend, and we were rudely interrupted with "so you don't like lace." Which was just one example of when a strong tone was used and was not a productive, active listening technique for someone in this role. (And after going to more bridal boutiques I realized this behavior was definitely not the norm.) She then left and came back with dresses that did not include the attributes we said we liked. The appointment time is extremely short at 90 minutes when you consider how long the staff can be gone pulling dresses. After viewing about a dozen dresses, we were at an impasse because my tastes were not being heard regarding the type of dress I was requesting, and I couldn't go look to get her on track. So even though the inventory is advertised as the biggest in the Midwest, it's really going to come down to how well your associate is versed in it. My fiance went here to get her dress...this is her review. I went to The Wedding Shoppe only because I found the dress I wanted on their website. When I went in the first time I had a great experience. Yes, it is small...and an old building...and small. But they had lots of dresses and the woman I was dealing with the extremely nice and helpful. They were busy, but I'm not fussy and I had my bridesmaids there to help me in and out of dresses. I knew the dress I wanted and was ready to buy after only trying on 3 dresses. Luckily they had my size in the store, so I felt pretty confident that we ordered the right size as it fit wonderfully. They took my measurements anyways and agreed that I would be ordering the size 8 that I had tried on. 3 months later my dress came in and of course I was so excited to do get it. I show up and they bring me and mom upstairs to a private fitting room. The woman helps me into my dress.....and it is too tight. Now, I know I was carrying a little "time of the month" bloat...but it wasn't tight around my stomach, it was tight around my ribs. So tight that the lace was bunching. I made a joke about losing weight and the woman said I couldn't lose weight in my ribs....true. Also, you cant take lace out. Crap. My mom of course kept taking pictures and saying how beautiful I was and inside I just kept thinking "great, I'm a big fat cow who cant even fit in her dress". Once we paid and walked out with the dress (since they instructed us not to use their alteration services) I burst into tears. Who wants to look fat on their wedding day? Why didn't my dress fit like it did 3 months ago?? My mom went in an talked to a manager, who had me come back so she could retake my measurements. She said I had gained 1 1/2 in my ribs. REALLY??? Not only that, but she then proceeded to tell me I need to do more cardio exercise. She told me I was "too bulky" and needed to stop lifting weights. I am a very fit person. I wear a normal size 6. I did not need her to tell me how to work out. Not to mention...how does one magically gain 1 1/2 inches in their ribs? They definitely measured wrong the first time I came in. And the dress in the store that I tried on must have been stretched out. Good news is they had a bigger size in my dress and color in stock so that I only have to wait 2 more weeks. Bad news is now I have to get the chest and hips altered down (since those measurements didn't change)..they wanted to charge me a 20% restocking fee but I am refusing on the grounds that it was their mistake. Nobody should go to try on their wedding dress and be told they are "too big". Even if the dress is too tight, they should know what not to say. read more

This was the brides first time trying on dresses. Overall, the experience was not what was expected. A majority of the reviews have been very positive. However, our experience was not. The consultant we worked with today informed us that she was new and was not familiar with a lot of the products and questions we had. At first, we were understanding and expected her to reach out to her coworkers for assistance. However, after we all felt like we weren't being listened to. So, one of us reached out to the consultant and other employees with our concerns. The consultant would only bring 1-2 dresses at a time. We felt extremely rushed throughout the process. The consultant was extremely monotone and had little to no personality throughout the process. She provided no encouragement, no affirmations, or anything positive to say. It was evident that the only thing this consultant was worried about was a sale. After trying to talk the bride into a dress she was not 100% pleased with we stepped in to assist. We asked permission to assist with pulling dresses as the consultant was not pulling enough dresses nor a variety of what the bride was requesting. On top of that every dress the bride found online or through their social media was not available in store. Every time we asked the consultant a question she immediately said she didn't know or the answer was no. We asked her several times to go ask someone who might now. Again, one of us had to get involved and seek someone else's assistance at the shop. I ended up pulling dresses with another consultant and asked to grab multiple dresses so the bride had several options as she requested. The wedding shop is full of dresses but we felt like there wasn't a good way to view the dresses. We wish we would have been able to walk around and pull the dresses ourselves. The consultant was more focused on making a sale and not listening to the brides concerns and insecurities. It was very disappointing to have someone try to persuade the bride to buy something that they didn't feel like was "the one". Once we had about 20 minutes left of the appointment the consultant expected the bride to either say yes to one she already tried on or leave. I asked another consultant for help and to use the remaining time to pull dresses. The bride ended up saying yes to a dress I picked out 15 minutes past our time. We appreciated the flexibility on time. We would have appreciated if this consultant was more empathetic, patient, and considerate. At the end of the booking we were asked to tip the consultant. We felt this was inappropriate as we felt required. However, the individuals with the bride today did more work - running around grabbing dresses, asking questions and seeking assistance from other employees, fluffing the dress for photos, and clarifying concerns and other questions. Ultimately, I'm sure others have had a great experience here. However, I would recommend booking a bridal consultant who has a lot of experience and good reviews. We didn't feel welcome, appreciated, or valued today. We ended up finding a dress for the bride today. We didn't feel celebrated by our consultant. Rather she seemed more irritated that the brides family and friends wanted to help. She seemed more annoyed that she said yes to a dress that she didn't pick. Overall, this consultant seemed lazy, did not use creative thinking, nor problem solving skills. Today's experience lacked the customer service we were hoping for. There was no champagne which some other bridal shops have to celebrate the day with. Once the bride did say yes to the dress our consultant didn't offer to take any photos. I had to approach our consultant and ask her to take a group photo of us. Again, she seemed irritated to do any small request we had from her. Yet our consultant expected a sale, tip, and most likely would be receiving a commission from the purchase. I give it two stars for the other consultants who stepped in and assisted. I would encourage you to schedule multiple dress appointments elsewhere as back ups so you're not disappointed if you don't find the one here. We were ready to get up and leave but decided to stick it out once we approached other staff for help. They do have a large selection of dresses which has it's PROS and CONS. I would call ahead and ask if they have a dress in store if you find one online. A majority of our inspiration photos were no longer available or not in the store to try on. Overall, today's experience was extremely overwhelming. If you have a good support system with you I believe it is still possible to find a dress here. However, I wouldn't rely too much on the consultants assistance. Ultimately, I have had better experiences elsewhere. read more

I got my wedding dress here. :) So, it is a great place. They have "a million" dresses... I came in with pictures and they literally pulled the dresses I had pictures of. The staff was nice, but they switch around consultants, so each time I came in a different girl helped me. I really liked working with Katie, but some days I would get another girl who didn't know my past trips in... Like I said, the dress selection is fab. My complaints are in the atmosphere. It is ALWAYS packed. They try and fit too many brides in there at once and it is incredibly overwhelming for an experience you hope to be relaxing and memorable. From the busyness to the dizzying floor patern, everything about this store makes your anxiety rise... I would recommend trying this store out, just be prepared to leave cross-eyed. read more

This review is based on the fact that this was the first ever bridal store I have ever stepped foot in. That being said, I was also PSYCHED to see one of my besties try on wedding dresses so I figured I would have a great time no matter what. My expectations were a bit high though, since they were 100% based off Say Yes to the Dress... I was slightly disappointed in this place, but I guess I don't know what most bridal stores look like or how they are laid out. First of all we had to wait quite a while when we arrived even though we had an appointment. There were LOTS of groups waiting in a small space which was a bit uncomfortable. We were brought upstairs to where the dressing rooms are with one teeny tiny area for modeling the dresses. There were only 3 "pedestals" for the bride's to stand on and more dressing rooms than that so brides had to wait to show off their gowns. The seating area was hardly more than 7 or 8 fold up chairs squished together right by the area the brides stand on. Very crowded and pretty uncomfortable. One bride even got so fed up they just left to go somewhere else... When I (one day) need to go try on gowns I highly doubt I will return to the Wedding Shoppe, just not my kind of place. I want the entire girly experience and I don't think this place offers that. On the bright side my friend found the dress that she wants to get married in and purchased it that day! So all was well and good when we finally took off :) read more

I am updating my review, Mary from customer service called and was very helpful, she even called my seamstress to discuss the alterations needed. She refunded 25% of the cost of the dress to assist with the cost of alterations, and was very sweet and helpful. I recommend contacting customer service directly if you have a problem rather than contacting the store. Original Review: My sister purchased her bridal gown from the Wedding Shoppe, and we ordered 8 bridesmaids dresses. I live out of town, and had to send them measurements, which I sent and told them my dress size. They recommended a 24, I ordered a 20 because 24 seemed absurd, considering my dress size is 12. We had the dress shipped to the bride's house in MN so I wouldn't have to travel with it. I flew home last weekend and tried it on for the first time, it is 3 sizes too big. 3 sizes! It's going to cost more than dress itself to get altered. The manager at the shop said there is nothing they can do, and just said sorry. She said a new dress (which I would have to pay for) wouldn't arrive in time, and they wouldn't help with the cost of the alterations. My measurements were slightly off, but I did give her the measurements the seamstress just took, and they said they would still order a 20, which is extremely big, it literally falls off. I'm extremely disappointed in the service there, especially after purchasing 8 bridesmaids dresses and a bridal gown. This is unacceptable. I recommend using a different bridal shop. read more

They have what seems like every dress under the sun. All of the dresses I flagged online were not to be found in samples on location however. The sales associate brought in lots of similar styles and was very kind. The location is beyond lacking, the grimy carpet and cramped bridal salon made me feel less than special, while my mother & bridesmaid were left to sit on the FLOOR! next to other people waiting to see friends in dresses. Once you've got a gown on you have to wait in line to stand on a pedestal (of which there are 3) in front of other people and other brides. Totally weird and made me feel self-conscious. They have competitive prices and tons of selections. Bridesmaid dresses come in the widest range of sample sizes I could find anywhere but the decor was worse than the bridal area. And bridesmaid appointments were really competitive. Also, No photos until you've purchased the dress ... weird! I order my bridesmaid dresses here because of convenience and price. I found my dress here! I went to about twelve other bridal shops first, and had avoided this one because I was under the wrong assumption that it would be expensive, simply because it's in a converted Victorian on Grand Ave. They had a great selection of plus size dresses. I actually found 3 I loved and then had to make a decision. I was in such shock at that point because I had tried on so many dresses without finding anything that I couldn't believe I was in the predicament of having to choose! They were all reasonably priced (as far as wedding gowns go) and the dress I ended up with (an elegant, taffetta, ruched, with a plunging portrait neckline and sweep train) cost just $700, much better than the $900, if-I-am-desperate David's Bridal option. The only issue I had was because they said they would call once they knew the delivery date, but I ended up calling them only to find out my dress had been there for days. But it came 2 weeks early, so I can't complain too much. It was crowded and my friend and I pretty much served ourselves. In the end, I got my dress and that was a huge relief! read more

My sister purchased her wedding dress here and the bridesmaids and I also got our bridesmaid dresses here. I am not sure I have many positive things to say. The space they have is very crowded and the decor is out of date. They cram as many brides as they can into a small space when they are trying on dresses and there is very limited seating (metal folding chairs) for those watching the bride. The woman helping my sister did not stick to my sister's budget when choosing dresses for her to try on. When my mom and I tried to wander around to pick out dresses, everything was so difficult to see because the dresses were in plastic bags, squished together on racks. There were so many dresses and people there that we couldn't even walk around. When we went to pick out bridesmaid dresses. we picked them out in a dark, dingy basement with out of style decor and cheap fitting rooms. Not what I had in mind when it came to picking out wedding apparel. I went elsewhere for my own wedding! I am not sure where everyone in the area gets the idea that this place is the place to go for wedding dresses.... read more

Bought a dress for my daughter for my wedding, and the employee didn't seem like she knew what she was doing while measuring. I've heard mixed reviews about this place, but it wasn't far from my parents' house so we put it on the list for dress shopping. Our bridal consultant, Brooke, was nice and very pleasant... Not pushy. However, they didn't have the dress written down that I had told them I wanted to try on so I had to remember it. The dressing area was not very private and I had to share a small mirror area with three other brides. It was fine, just got a little crowded. This is minor, but my guests sat in metal folding chairs that were WAY too close the "stage." They continued to get up and step back so they could actually see me. When it was time to measure... They were going to order the dress with five extra inches (unnecessary) and most of those would have been altered off (I think) along with the pretty lace bottom. There a million places in Minneapolis to shop for a wedding dress. Go somewhere that takes more time with you and will send in your custom length measurements so the dress fits better the first time. read more

I love this place! My sister and one of my best friends both got their dresses here and had great experiences, so when I got engaged it was the first place I thought of. They have a very good selection of dresses ranging anywhere from $600 up (some are less if you can buy the sample). I went there on a Saturday, and picked out what I thought was "the" dress. By Sunday night I was really second guessing myself, and couldn't sleep. So I called Monday morning and asked if I could come in that day to try it on again and maybe try some other dresses. They were super nice and said yes. When I got there, Lois, the owner, helped me find some new dresses, and said that the most important thing is that I'm happy with my dress. She was so kind to let me find a new dress that really WAS "the" dress, and they canceled the other order without any hassle. I am so thankful, because now I really have the dress I want to wear on my wedding day! Great customer service! read more
