Very Clean Grocery store.... Love to shop here for my groceries and The Hot Food Bar is exceptional. So many items to choose from.

This is hands down the best place to shop for food in the greater-Columbia area. The service is excellent and the value is certainly there. I love, love, love their sushi! I have heard people complain that it is too expensive, but we have found that the monetary difference in our food shopping budget to be negligible. It can get a bit crowded at time and the people who shop their a little to stuffy (it is after all, Columbia), but I just smile and enjoy the experience of being out. I haven't actually shopped here for groceries, but there are a couple of reasons why this grocery store has stolen my heart: 1) Ample parking in a parking garage. (What other grocery stores offer your car this much protection?) 2) $5 rotisserie chicken in a microwaveable bag. The perfect meal for a lazy student! Especially when their other meal options are on the pricey side. 3) Great music! I have no clue who is making the playlist, but it covers my favorite hits on my own playlists. Great music for studying, or just to listen to when browsing the aisles. 4) And best of all is the study area upstairs. What other grocery store can boast that they have more comfortable study tables than coffee shops and even many public libraries? There is free wifi here. This study area even has free water dispenser, sink area, utensils, paperware, and condiments for you to use to enjoy the food that you packed or bought from the eatery downstairs. I just wish that the microwave that disappeared recently could be replaced! And more outlets would be nice, even though I've always managed to find an outlet every time I need one. I never go to Wegmans because its entrance is difficult and inconvenient to navigate with multiple poorly timed traffic lights off main thorofare. I recently tried their bakery however as I'm trying to find one I like in the area. It isn't going to be Wegmans'. I ordered a 2 layer round birthday cake but I picked it up it was ice cold as if previously frozen. The cake and icing tasted fine but the cake had no icing at all between layers, and the icing was very thick on one side and almost transparently thin on the other side. I'll have to find somewhere else before the next family birthday. read more

Place can get swamped during peak hours so beware. Things I like: Good produce, good variety of ethnic food (they have a lot of obscure Asian veggies and products that you normally would have to go to H Mart for), clean, good hot food bar and other food court options. Everyone I've encountered has been friendly and they have ample registers open. Cons: Overcrowded at times so things like the deli counter can take ages. The bottom floor parking lot is a fender bender waiting to happen. They have a club card, but nothing is really "on sale". You have to be smart on what you buy there and know prices because somethings are expensive compared to a Giant or Safeway. read more

Watch your wallets and check your receipts! This morning a cashier rung up her $4.65 breakfast Egg & Cheese Sandwich on my grocery bill while I wasn't paying attention (I was still putting items on the belt when she started ringing). When I got home and looked at my receipt I was pissed! It stood out because I would never order an Egg & Cheese Sandwich from anywhere!!!! I promptly went back since I don't live very far away and was refunded at Customer Service. They seemed to think it was an "honest mistake", I however believe that they have a sneaky and dishonest employee trying to get over on distracted customers. read more

The store is large to maneuver around, which some people find unappealing when they want to be in and out quickly. My only negative would be the Chinese food section of the hot bar, which I don't eat anyway, but my kids have said is gummy and "not good." I bought wegmans boneless skinless chicken breast. They were at a nice price (6.09 lbs at1.99per lb) and looked good. When I opened them there was an exceptional amount of juices and a large absorption pad. After emptying my package, I weighted the waste and it was 1 lb. I don't know the accepted waste amount but I thought this was extreme. read more

Produce is better than other grocery stores I feel. I also like that they have organic stuff. Love the assorted cheese plates. The sushi n hot food buffet can be good at times. Can get packed at peak hours..parking lot can get really busy. Bulk items can be cheaper than warehouse stores if you have a coupon. They have a club card like Giant/ Safeway/ Food Lion. read more

My hometown is the birthplace of Wegmans - aka Rochester, NY. All Wegmans generally look the same, and this one reminds me of the ones back in my hometown. However the Columbia Wegmans by far is the best Wegmans location that I have ever been to!!! When I first got here I was sending pictures to my friends in Rochester in disbelief that a Wegmans could look this good. Here are some reasons why I love the Columbia Wegmans and what makes it an exceptionally nice and unique location: 1. It's extra nice looking. That's probably because it's newer than the ones in Rochester. 2. The parking area is covered, and this definitely helps if it is raining or snowing. There are pictures of vegetables to help you remember where you parked. 3. First of all, there's an escalator. Second of all, there's also an escalator for your cart to go upstairs with you! How awesome is that?! 4. The Wegmans here has more diversity in their vegetable and foods selection. I saw some bok choy and other traditionally Asian vegetables which was very nice. I do see 1 area of improvement. The staff that provide food samples are not as warm and friendly and are not educating you about what the food samples are about. In my hometown, the staff providing the samples all do a very excellent job of being super friendly and providing valuable information. Overall, this Wegmans is such a great grocery store. I'm so glad it's in Columbia and in fact they've done a very nice job here! For anyone not familiar with Wegmans, you must come here! They have the regular brands that everyone is familiar with, but they also have the Wegmans brand which is always cheaper than the regular brand with exceptional quality. They have sections related to specialty cheeses from around the world, natural beauty, meats, produce and fruits, and so much more... read more

Ridicoulous that this Wegman's wont let you bring your own bag, doesn't have plastic bags, gives you paper bags you can't carry and then charges 5 cents for each crappy bag. I would call this place a joke but that would be an insult to jokes. read more

Been going for a few years now. If their app ever goes away im gone, the cashiers are just that bad. Everytime i go to check out i Get a lecture about how im doing it wrong. Sodas go on the belt (like every store on the planet), sodas go in the cart, sodas go on the top layer of the cart, sodas go on the bottom layer of he cart. I bag it myself, we bag it for you. We bag some stuff, but not all (and wont tell you which). We bag and push past the cart to hand to you so you can put in the cart. Every lecture is given in a shitty tone and never ends until i relent and say "im sorry ill do it that way next time". Regardless of which way i tried he current time Today was the worst. The cashier pushed my cart out of the isle, then physically pushed me back so she could stand where i was and rearrange how i had my items. Never happens with their cashiers under 25 (?i think), but i dont always remember to skip the old ones, and sometimes think "it cant be as bad as i remember and their line is so much shorter". Everything else about the store is great, just be expected to be hassled at check out. read more

We drove up here today just for the Hatch Green Chile Peppers Event, and loved it. Fellow New Mexicans and UNM and NMSU alumni crowded around the green chile roasting hut just outside the store's entrance, hypnotized by the smell and excited by the prospect of fresh roasted green chile in Maryland!!!! What???? It was only $39.99 for a case (approximately 15 lbs) of green chile - same price, roasted or fresh (why not have them roast it for you?). Brought it straight home, peeled and bagged 15 quart size freezer ziplocs. We are all set for at least 6 months. Howwwllllll!!! read more

The guy who was working the day before Easter that runs the cheese section took a lot of time to help me pick really good cheeses for an Easter dinner I went to. The cheeses were a big hit and were so delicious. My daughter and I are addicted to the drunken goat cheese he said was his favorite. This review is for the lunch buffet. I've been a number of times to grab lunch during the week. Great variety and selections. They routinely have Indian, Peruvian, Chinese fare as well buffalo wings, Mac and cheese and chicken fingers. Of course there's also a really good salad bar. Always impressed with the freshness of the salad bar items and how well seasoned the hot food has been that I've tried. A little on the pricey side - price is based on weight, but worth it. read more

We usually shop in Wegmans hunt valley but I've been forced to shop here over the past few months. In my opinion it's the most disorganized Wegmans of them all. Cashiers are all generally nice and polite but that doesn't make up for the fact that there are never enough of them if you go there at any off times, therefore there is no reason to shop there unless you want to spend 20 minutes shopping and 20 minutes to checkout. read more

This is an update to an earlier review. Although we love Wegmans and went to this particular Wegmans every week for YEARS, the frustrating long lines led us to shop elsewhere. In the past few months, we have shopped at several other locations, including Frederick and Owings Mills. Same great stores, but neither had a problem with lines. In fact, the Owings Mills store had so many open checkout lines on a Saturday night, that cashiers were standing at the beginning of the conveyor belts ushering people in. However, we have mainly switched to Giant and a particular Super Walmart (one that doesn't have the line issues). We decided to try Wegmans Columbia again last week. Again, the lines were exasperating on a Friday night. There were only five checkouts open (not including the self-checkout) with five or six customers in line, most of whom had full carts. I estimated that it would take 20 minutes to check out. My family waited in the long line for self checkout. While it took "only" 10 minutes, we had to do the work of scanning, bagging, and paying for our groceries, with the machine constantly warning us about not detecting things in the "bagging area." Wegmans is a great company, but why can't this location schedule more cashiers? You did it well for YEARS. Why make a change over the last six months that leaves many customers with a very negative impression at the end of their shopping experience? We'll try again in about 6 months. read more

When I returned a couple of hours later, they said they had found it, but they had thrown it away because it had been at room temperature for too long. Then they simply gave me replacements. I often get strange looks when I tell people I love grocery stores and I love grocery shopping. On my last birthday, my husband asked what I wanted to do to celebrate, anything I wanted! I said I wanted to go to Costco. So Wegmans is like Costco on "good" steroids'; upscale, totally awesome. After getting lost once in Columbia trying to find it, I recently went with a friend who lives in Columbia. I was over whelmed. It was amazing. There are so many "sections". There are prepared foods, some for families, some for singles. There is an Asian section, a burger bar, salad bar, hot foods, sea food, bakery, and on and on. I haven't eaten beef in years, but walking past the meat department I would have stopped and bought a steak in a flash. For gluten-free and organic eaters there are multiple aisles. Upstairs there is a café, separate from the burger bar, Asian bar, etc. Upstairs at the café, there are some separate areas, a lounge space, a balcony overlooking the downstairs grocery area, and the dining area. read more

I am a fan of this Wegmans. Most people like the food bar...I am not really a fan of the food bar though. I have tried it (different foods) at least 4 times because I really wanted to like it because everyone else did. It just doesn't do the trick for me. But the grocery store is amazing. From the fresh meats and seafood, to the bakery...the store has everything I need to make this fake Home Chef happy. Some things that pull me back are the variety of cheeses, the organic options, the freshness of the fruits/veggies, the pre-prepped veggies and pre-seasoned entrees. Oh...and the ulitmate white cake (first time trying it was yesterday) was to die for. Also...not sure how often they offer it...but really love the Greek Spinach and Feta turkey burger patties. These come ready for the grill or grill pan and taste great plain or on a bun. Cons...On the weekend the store is SUPER crowded. I have also found the Wegmans' shoppers on the weekend are not the nicest. They will bump you and not excuse themselves or run you over if you are not moving fast enough. Or maybe I am just too slow. I like to take my time and touch and smell stuff prior to purchase...LOL! The produce section is the worst on the weekends. We had to "park" our cart and take turns running to get the produce that we needed and then run it back to the cart. They were also out of Edamame... :-( It is not usually that crowded during the weekdays. I think I will stick to weekday shopping from now on. The worst part (my fault) is that I always spend more than I intended to. I always see something different or new that I want to try that wasn't in my budget...and I walk out of the store with three bags instead of one. Maybe because I am walking too slow...LOL! I am still a fan of the store and will continue going back. The prices on most things are competitive (think Safeway) but they do offer higher end specialty products and brands that you will pay more for...and probably can't get at Safeway. read more

I am driving a while to go to this store. It's pricey, but we like the choice when it comes to treat oursleves. Sadly, I had bad experiences with the seafood lately. A few months ago with giant shrimps (cooked) already spoiled when I opened the container the same day. Lately for Thanksgiving, bought a container of lobster meat that was equally rotten when open same day for cooking. This one I brought back. Customer service was terrible. i brought the entire container untouched and the lady was so unfriendly, non communicative and non appologetic. I felt under suspicion when clearly she can see in my member log that I spend about 250-300$ each time I visit. I also waited a long time at the seafood stand before being served. There were just me and one customer served at the time and he (the customer) was nice enough to tell repeatedely the staff that I was waiting for a while. That day, sub staff was not really helpful or friendly. I like Wegmans but I am tired to pay subprime for now average food and service. read more

Really disappointing these days. There used to be a hot vegetarian bar in the cafe area, and now it's not there. In the cold salad bar, where all the veggies are placed, they place this disgusting tray of bacon bits in between a tray of cucumbers and a tray of croutons. And so, I look into the tray of cucumbers and see a whole bunch of those disgusting pig shit/bacon bits polluting the tray. Why can't they put the pig stank away from the veggies? And then there's hardly any vegetarian options for hot soup, if any. Just a big damn disappointment. Do better, be better! Take pride and try to be more inclusive of those who don't eat dead animals. read more

I already loved this store! However, I have come here multiple times already during the coronavirus and the store is awesome! The workers are stocking shelves and are busting their butts. They have an organized way to get you to the register and are very pleasant while doing it. Yes, some things are missing from the shelves but they are trying really hard at this crazy time.
