Best breakfast deal anywhere. Weiner's best in town. Very friendly service need to be open later

Went by Wein-o-rama. last weekend. Food is excellent as usual. But one customer was unhappy with a waitress' service and made it known throughout the restaurant. Which made the whole place a little on edge. I do agree with the customer. When we've had this waitress in the past, her service was subpar and forgot part of our order. Most importantly, she was very rude. I understand we have bad days, but it seems to be the norm with this waitress. Must be related to one of the owners. Luckily we have the NY system on Resivoir Avenue. There's also a wiener joint in Seekonk that is as good as Wein-o-rama called Eats. Their wait staff however is light years better. read more

To sum up my review: Their weiners are good, but definitely not as good as Olneyville New York System's weiners, in my opinion. I got three all the way for lunch today. Texture of both the bun and weiner was slightly tough, and as another reviewer noted, they were very salty, even for weiners. They also went a bit overboard on the onions. This place is just a plain ol' diner inside, and kind of noisy, so I got my food to go and ate it in my truck. As someone else wrote in another review, this place doesn't have the character that Olneyville NY System has, although both places have been around forever. read more

You call yourself a man? Celery Salt - Don't think about skipping the salt. If you're gonna do it. Do it right. Just ask for it "ALL THE WAY" (preferably several) and watch as that old man back there lines those buns up on his arm and executes his ancient craft with expert dexterity. As a former Rhode Islander who lives in Fla, I'm always thinking of hot wieners when I return to visit. Many of the places I remember are now gone or have changed from what I remember. Here I get the experience of a New York System wiener joint if old. Just brings back memories. The place is nice. The people were friendly. The food is how I remembered from 20+ years ago. This is my regular wiener fix stop when I visit. My one criticism is that the wiener sauce had too much nutmeg in it. The fries rings and oh yes, the ice coffee were right on the money. Stop #2 on the RI hot dog tour. Got the same two dogs (my standards) for comparison: 1 works & 1 mustard/relish. BF got a plain dog. Less than $6 for 3 dogs Small dogs contribute to an off bun/dog ratio. A wee little too much bread for each bite. Steamed buns are a nice touch. The dogs had a good toothsome casing. This mustard/relish & plain dog topped Moonlight House of Wieners but the works dog didn't hit the spot due to a heavy hand on the celery salt & a texture issue on the beef (a little mushy). read more

I have only ever had the Weiner's there, but always good, always consistent. I like them better than the NY Systems in Cranston, all though I do stop in there because it is convenient. The down side here is that the seating is limited and you will need to queue during lunch. But, then that might be saying something great about the food. read more

Coming in 3rd on my top "weina" list for Best Weinaz in RI is the timewarp called Wein-O-Rama, located in the ever-so-pleasant carvone city of "cveeeanstin". I went to this place awhile back for lunch with my dad. I've seen it a few times before and would often wonder how their weiners tasted. Walking in I was surprised to step into a 1960's-early 1970's looking place with the most friendliest workers I've seen on that side of Cranston. The food was actually not half bad, not as good as New York System of Olneyville though but it's decent and fresh. They give you a crapload of fries too which were great. I love how they leave the vinegar right on the table for that classic "vinegar on the fries" RI trick. Good blast from the past food! Four stars! read more

Best weiners worldwide in a clean and friendly atmosphere. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is top notch. Many daily specials. Countertops and tables thoroughly wiped down after each customer. Two, count 'em, 2 , busboys. What? Yup. Busboys,that CLEAN the tables / countertops. YUM! This place is delicious. It's a older set up, but the food especially the wieners are "to die for". (Very good). It is very popular and I have on multiple occasions seen lines out the door. They serve breakfast as well as lunch and all the staff are very friendly. I have been here before and still continue to go without a issue. I would have gave it 5 starts, but I feel that it is a downfall because they only take cash only. That is inconvenient for many customers. Overall the food is good and friendly staff, it's not overpriced I highly recommend to give it a try!!! Thumbs up! read more

New York System Weiners or Gaggers are a staple in the diet of Rhode Islanders and it really gets no better than Wein-O-Rama. This place blows away Olneyville! The restaurant is old and it is typical "diner style", counter seating and about 10 booths. The men's room is typically clean but is so small you can barely fit in and the restaurant overall is very clean. A couple of things to remember: 1. CASH only, but they have an ATM if you forget. 2. Don't take a booth at lunch unless there are at least 2 in your party! 3. NEVER sit at the counter or booth talking on a cell phone and expect service!! In addition to the wieners the other food is top notch; some of my favorites are the steak and cheese, grilled cheese with tomato, grilled chicken, and the icing on the cake is they have the best French fries in the world!!! TIP: If onions bother your stomach just order them all the way no onion. read more

Grew up a couple blocks down the street from Wein-O-Rama and it was my favorite place to eat as a kid. Small family owned place. Now, so many years later, this is still what I most look forward to when I go back to visit. Same people working, same food, same awesomeness. You just can't beat the weiners here. Brought my own family here for the first time this past year, for their very first Wein-O-Rama weiner and they all devoured multiple servings. Their home fries are also GREAT. I am a huge fan of RI hot wieners(in more ways than on ;), These almost make it to 5 stars but not quite. The dog, bun and other toppings are great, with 1 exception: The meat sauce is way too savory (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg... not sure which) and is just too strong. Very good hot wieners, fries and coffee milk. Some sandwiches and burgers are skimpy and don't have much flavor. They offer homemade rice pudding for dessert if you get there in time. It is very good but disappointing when they run out. The place is quaint and friendly and they only accept cash but there is an atm. If you stop by Cranston on your way to New York, don't bother eating another dog the rest of your trip. I know how prideful New Yorkers are about their Papaya and Coney Island dogs, but they don't hold a candle to Wein-o-rama. We got most New York dogs beat over here at Fab's hotdogs in the San Fernando Valley, but we don't have nuthin' like Wein-o-rama. Don't be turned off by the weird stares you get from the parking lot, these folks don't need to be on the food network or have Guy- whatever- his- name- is stopping by, once you get inside its all good, just don't act like some weird foodie tourist, put the camera away. Pops used to have people mail him weiners from this place and I'll tell you, they taste just as good after a 3000 mile trip to Cali as they do sitting at the counter. read more

I'm a born-and-raised Rhode Islander and I've had weiners once, late at night after several beers. I've never had an urge to repeat that experience. But recently we had some friends visit from out of state (actually they are originally from here but have lived out of state for years) who just had to have some hot dogs so I grudgingly headed into Wein-O-Rama. We grabbed 5 seats at the counter and placed our order. A few of us ordered hot dogs which came out right away. We had to wait a few more minutes for the burgers and chicken tenders. The service was not only fast, it was incredibly friendly. Our server was incredibly friendly and very responsive. She happily split us up on two checks even though we weren't seated together. When one of the little ones mentioned he wanted pickles on his grilled cheese, a little bowl of pickles arrived like magic. When he complained that he wanted the pickles on the sandwich she took it in stride. When she noticed that some fries were going untouched on one end of the counter, she moved them down to the other. I can't comment on the weiners as I don't eat them. My burger and fries were average. But what really stood out for me was the service. I really appreciated the warm welcome and efficient service. I'm glad I read some reviews here so I was ready with cash. Don't know if I'll be back but it's the first place I'll recommend for someone looking for a Rhode Island original. read more

I love you, Wein-O-Rama! Even if you are CASH ONLY.

This venerable wiener joint has been around for over 40 years They boast the freshest NY System weiners in 50 miles. The friendly servers make everyone feel welcome- even strangers, which for a RI restaurant is a rare experience. (Basically RI, if you live more than 10 mins. from a restaurant everyone there considers you a "fah-ri-nah" and treats you with deep seated suspicion.) Sadly, the freshness is surprisingly not beneficial to the wiener flavor. The meat sauce really needs time for the flavors to mix and meld. The wiener itself has to 'age' a little bit to taste right. I was able to pick out individual spices from the wienie sauce. It's either because someone goofed on the recipe, or because it hadn't simmered long enough. The bun should be fresh, but ideally it would be a little dry on the very edge 1/32 of an inch. But the steam vapor from heating it would re-moisten it resulting in a slightly different texture. Of course you can go too far with the aging. At ONYS in Providence, everything they have is day-old, stale, and dry. The onion rings had no onion flavor whatsoever. Very strange. Wein-O-Rama's not bad at all. It's just that there are better options so close that I prefer going elsewhere. I've actually dined here more often for breakfast than for gaggers, Each breakfast I've had is a typical greasy mess. That's what I expect, and that's what I want, but right up the street, Miss Cranston does it better. The weiners are okay, but they're not the best in the state. Again, right up the street, Olneyville NY System is superior. The difference is in the meat topping, which seems less tasty at Wein-O-Rama. The interior has a certain charm that most of the weiner joints share, and chintz is what I want when I go to a place like this. read more

This place is kind of out there in an odd spot, in my opinion but I was not disappointed. We stopped in and had a very tasty fresh, hot breakfast without all of the extras and frills. They have a pretty basic diner menu that isn't very extensive, however it's affordable and delicious. Love this place. The wieners, which are the only thing i get here, are excellent, however, the last time we went here my mom brought her small coffee from dunkin donuts. We were yelled at by the waitress because they dont allow outside food and drink. She said that my mom had to throw it out. My wife and I visit Wein-O-Rama at least once a week... I'll eat New York System style dogs almost anywhere, but my wife will only eat here, and for good reason... the dogs just taste better, the meat has nice flavor, and the bread is fresher. Fries are always fresh-made. The large soda will send you into a diabetic sleep, so lookout... Also, the staff is incredible! I'm kind of a shy guy, and they've brought me out of my shell, very friendly, very on-the-ball. Sometimes I'll go there for breakfast, and they always get my eggs right, and there's only one other place in RI that gets the eggs right for me. We look forward to our Wein-O-Rama! Sweat, grease, and vintage leather bar stools all come together to make Wien-0-Rama one the of most badass joints in Rhode Island. The rusticness and efficiency of the restaurant with such a small staff is great, along with delicious, homecooked food and the best NY Style Wieners you'll ever eat. It's like the equivelent of the slider from White Castle, it's just one of those things you have to get at Wien0Rama. No if, ands, or wieners about it. One of my favorite things about the restaurant is the ice they give you in the drinks; it's finely crushed and they don't give you too much, and the glasses give you ample liquid. I also enjoyed the hotdogs, which were warm and a little spicy. It gets crowded sometimes because there isn't that much seating, which makes it beneficial to order out and bring it home to eat. I have eaten here many times and love it here. Best weiners in the business. I read some reviews and just to clear the air I have been in this business for over 20 years and the Health Department does not allow outside food because we as operators have no idea how it was prepared and wether or not it is safe. My service dog was denied entry, despite even offering to show them a doctor's note (which I am not legally required to). I was embarrassingly met at the door by the waitress and told he was not actually a service dog and told he could not come in, with again me even offering proof though I do not have to. Her inappropriate and inaccurate commentary was followed by an older gentleman screaming from the kitchen that everyone says they have service dogs today when they do not. Unprofessional and unlawful, not to mention embarrassing. If you support equal access, and just treating humans with basic dignity and respect, do not support this establishment. read more

Not too much to say that hasn't already been said about this place. If you like burgers, they have a charbroiled version which was pretty good. They flattop the bun with butter, which isn't my fav, but others will certainly enjoy. Wieners were solid Rhode Island. I'm still searching for why they are so salty, but I'm starting to think that it is what N.Y. Systems are all about no matter where you go in RI. They were as good as I've had anywhere. Coffee was excellent. Reminded me of old Dunkin Donuts coffee. The staff hustled through wave after wave of patrons, were very friendly and the cooking areas were kept clean to a fault. Went here for lunch last week and the service was very quick. We were in and out just like that. A great place to go for the Rhode Island cuisine of hot wieners. Lots of pros here one of the only cons I can think of is that it is cash only and there are fees signs explaining this. However besides that Wein-O-Rama is a great place to grab a quick bite with friends and family. The waitresses are very friendly and when sitting at the bar will also have a friendly conversation with you. read more
