I'm participating in the 2d Annual RI Food Fights Weiner Event and this was my third stop. I stopped by before heading to my soccer game, so I wanted something on the lighter end. I claimed my free hot dog all the way (meat, onions, and celery salt), ordered my mom a hamburger with lettuce ($4.99), tomatoes, and mayo (+$0.60 upcharge), and we shared a small chili cheese fries ($5.99). While we waited for the food, we chose a booth. I loved the bright yellow color throughout the dining area, I noticed it was very clean, and they have vinegar and ketchup at each table. I also used the bathrooms, and they were very clean, smelled good, and air conditioned. When our food was ready, they called out our order and offered us tap water which I accepted. The hamburger and all the toppings looked very fresh. The flavors were simple but good. The hot dog was okay, I wish the meat or dog were a little saltier. The chili cheese fries were good. It had a good amount of each topping and it was a good serving size. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. When we were done eating, one of the staff members helped us with our tray - throwing the trash away and putting away the tray. I was very pleased with quality, prices, cleanliness, and customer service. We only realized this when we were leaving, but they have a table outside where you can eat. Also, the parking lot is a good size. The only inconvenient part about this place is that it is off a main street so it can be tricky to cross two lanes of traffic (if applicable) to get in / out of the lot. read more

I've both dined in and done take out. It's a no frills place to get an affordable meal. I've had the grilled cheese with fried and hot wieners all the way. The wieners are good, a standard offering. Grilled cheese is fine, simple on regular white bread. It's a good and quick spot if you have a craving for wieners. You pick up your food and remove your own trash when dining it. Despite the name, the New York system, hot wiener is a Rhode Island novelty. As with any strange regional food, there are multiple claims to be the first. As far as I'm concerned only will New York system hot wieners are the original. On this trip, I ordered two all the way with fries and a Diet Coke and they delivered exactly that. For the uninitiated, a New York system hot wiener starts with a hot dog like sausage - the hot wiener - place in a hotdog roll topped with mustard, onions, meat sauce, & celery salt. The wieners came out tightly wrapped in butcher paper and hot. They were exactly what I was looking for after a long day. I got to the restaurant in Cranston their second location just after nine and the dining room was closed. But they have a take out window(not a drive-through, but a walk up) and I took my order to one of the two picnic tables in the front of the parking lot. The staff was very friendly and the meal was priced reasonably. If you are local to Cranston or Providence, and you enjoy a good hotdog, you should give Olneyville a try. Horrid. Wieners are what they are. They've never been good for you but have always been a taste treat that skirts the line. Not anymore...they are terrible. Yellow mustard, undercooked-raw , unprocessed onions. Place is a dump. Doors are now closed at 9:00 on a Friday night?? Window service only. My favorite weiner spot. Mainly because it's in a convenient location near my old stomping grounds. This place has been open for as long as I can remember. It is a Rhode Island staple; I know they have their other location in Olneyville. They have a big parking lot. You order at the counter and there's a dining room with quite a few booths. My go to food is, two weiners all the way (with onions, celery salt, meat sauce, and mustard). I also get their cheese fries and coffee milk. The food is always fresh and tasty. It's open until two a.m. and they have a takeout window. Their dining room is open until one a.m. This has been a tradition for me since I moved out of Rhode Island, we always stop by when we come back to visit. If you know what a NY System Wiener is, you should also know that NY System Cranston or Olneyville are THE go to spots. I don't care what anyone else says! Heading to the window to get some delicious food that we would most likely regret in the morning - but tbh I rarely regret it. Well, I went the other day because I wanted to get a travel hand sanitizer for $1.00. For multiple reasons: 1. Because it would be nice to have in my purse in the event that I do find myself running errands and touching something in public. 2. I hope that when this is over I can look back at this as a reminder of the scary time we got through together, and how our restaurants and distilleries were distributing sanitizer. We grabbed a wiener and fries while we were there, the smell was too strong to ignore. It called to me. So if you are looking for a fancy hotdog this isn't the place. Now this was just what I've been wanting for a few weeks now. Prefect RI wieners with a side of cheesy fries. So good! I do order mine with no mustard, but if you like mustard you should order them all the way for the full effect. I'm truly an pregnant Rhode Islander! This place is an institution. Still looks the same as it did 13 years ago when we moved from RI, but that's ok...because the food is also still the same (YUMMY!) as it was 13 years ago. It was out first stop when we picked up the rental car from the airport. The weiners are just just as naughty and tasty as I remember and the crispy fries and cold coffee milk are the perfect side kicks to the "all the way" dogs.
