I saw online that they had the two cameras in stock (although, if you are particular about whether there are kit lenses or not, you should call ahead) so felt pretty good about dropping in on a Saturday. There were a few people speaking to all available staff so I did wait a bit, but soon enough I was able to speak to two separate staff members. The first may have been a manager and was able to tell me upfront what was in stock and what was in the area (other location or in their warehouse - would need to be transferred). I asked if I could hold the cameras, either with the showroom cameras or whichever way. They had an XS20 on display (similar weight) and pulled an XM5 from the back. Just from the weights, I could tell that the XM5 was the right choice for me. The other salesperson was able to pair me with a Fujinon 27mm pancake lens that would keep my unit light and compact and a UV lens for protection. I will say that anybody coming in should do their research - the suggestions were helpful and already in line with what I had been planning to buy, but there are other options that are more budget friendly that they may not offer. I mentioned that I was going on a cruise to Alaska soon and asked about rentals, and he recommended that I call a few weeks in advance to see what they had in inventory to rent out. I will definitely do so! He said to aim for a 50-200mm and mentioned lensrental.com if they did not have what I needed in stock. Overall I was very pleased with their service. I would definitely come back for my other camera needs.

The process was super easy: booked online, filled out a quick form when I arrived, and the photos were printed on site in less than 10 minutes. I also received the digital copy at the same time, which was very convenient. He is also incredibly precise. His eyes are basically lasers and can measure things down to the millimeter. He'll tell you exactly how to tilt your head so everything is centered. My mouth usually tilts to the right if I'm not paying attention, and he helped me adjust. I was honestly so glad to see my mouth centered in the final photo! It's a family business, and funny enough, about 10 years ago it was his dad who took my passport photo. Fast forward a decade, and the next generation is still making me look good for official government documents. I needed a pretty obscure…read morereplacement part on short notice to do some video coverage of a football game, and the staff at San Jose Camera & Video went above and beyond in helping me track down a similar plate that would fit. I provided the make/model of the monopod, the plate that I thought I'd need, and since it's a tough piece to track down, they found a handful of similar monopod plates that potentially could fit and tested them on the equipment they had in house. After some research and testing, they recommended a plate that they were "pretty sure" would fit my piece of kit and they put it aside. 30 minutes later, after a bit of a drive, I had the plate in hand for a really great price. And I brought the monopod into the store to test the plate and the staff was right - it fits! San Jose Camera & Video saved me a lot of trouble, a lot of money, and a good amount of time and I'll be forever grateful. On a side note, the staff person I worked with was super attentive and nice and asked me a lot of questions about the work I did and it was nice for them to take a bit of an interest in their customers.

Anyways, we went over everything again, including pricing, and I was told it would be ready the next day by noon. I came back after work, hours after I was told it would be done. It still wasn't ready. They had to locate my original photo and print/cut everything on the spot while I waited. To their credit, the edits (reducing blur and glare) turned out well, and the attendant was apologetic throughout. However, I also had to return again to pick up my original photo, which they again had trouble locating. Overall, the final product was decent, but the process felt disorganized and inconvenient. I don't usually expect discounts, but given the multiple issues, it would have been nice and I probably wouldn't have written this review. Can't say I recommend them.

When it came to us picking a photographer for our destination wedding in Palm Springs, I felt a gravitational pull towards Tiffany, and she didn't disappoint.  She made the booking portion very simple and easy.  I sent her a list of shots we wanted and she pretty much captured everything I could even think of, and more.  She leaned into our moody "old Hollywood" look.  She worked our 200+ wedding like she'd been doing it for decades.  She works with light like a master artist.  What comes out at the end will absolutely blow your mind.  And on top of it all, she's a lot of fun to work with and makes you feel so comfortable.  I honestly wanted her to stay the entire wedding as a guest because I felt so close to her after our journey together. .... And thank God she has a sense of humor because when I wanted to do a funny gender reveal, newborn shoot for our new puppy, Frankie, she was all in!! She was even able to swaddle our 9 week only puppy!
