Came in looking for some photography backdrops for a corporate video production. As advertised online, they had exactly what I needed. In addition to quality products, I want to sincerely thank the team working there for their help. I came in on a time crunch, during a rainstorm, in a Honda Civic -- expecting to haul three 12ft boxes. Not my brightest idea. However the team was so amazing and helped me fit everything into my car without hesitation. Service was great and the backdrops were perfect for my video shoot. Highly recommend!

Came across this camera store while driving along Hamilton Ave. Been meaning to check out some Peak Design bags in person and mainly only camera stores carry them. Luckily they had what my bf was looking for and was able to decide between the two styles he's been contemplating on. Staff was incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in and treated every customer the same as they walked in. I didn't catch the gentleman's name who assisted us, but it may be Alex, according to our receipt. He gave great suggestions towards our contemplation of the two bags and made sure we knew enough to make our decision easier. Thank you! Pricing was the same as big online retailers for our item, so it was a plus for us to be able to support local.

But was this photo taken WITH this lens?! :O

They were not open today, Sunday, February 8th, 2026. Their website says they are but clearly it's false advertising.

Ask the Community - San Jose Camera & Video

Do you develop the film? And if you are, how much cost for 1 roll? Thank u

Hi Phu, thank you for your inquiry- however as we no longer develop film, we refer film development to our good friend over at Foto Express- located in Downtown San Jose. Thank you for thinking of us.

Do you buy old cameras?

Throughout the year, we usually do trade-ins! Buying old cameras- just give us a call or an email if it's something we'd be interested in, and bring them in the store for a quote. Other than that- keep an eye out for our Trade-In, Buying event…

Do they develop old negatives? My mom recently passed away and I found a bunch of negatives from decades ago. Would like to get them developed somewhere.

Sorry we do not develop negatives.

I took Tom's "DSLR/M Jumpstart" class this June. Glowing review follows…read more.. But first, a bit about me: I've been a latent photography maven since my early teens, starting with a Polaroid and quickly graduating to my dad's old Bell & Howell 35mm. As things often do, it found itself on a shelf until the advent of the iPhone and ever-present cameras. Discovering that I enjoy taking nice shots, but always knowing I could do better, I finally splurged on a "prosumer" Canon mirrorless. Not wanting to let it be relegated to the same fate as the B&H, I immediately went looking for some classes, and found Tom literally one neighborhood away. I immediately liked his no-nonsense commentary about how good photography connects us to our memories and what we experienced at the time, but also his keen level of humility; I think that's essential to being a good teacher, as hubris stands in the way of connection with students. When I arrived, Tom had a cozy kitchen table set up for three students, with brief handouts at the ready, and a table full of curios just begging for practice. Alas, one student was a no-show, but we had lively chat until Tom decided to get underway. There wasn't a single boring moment in the day; Tom immediately got both of us familiar with the controls on our fancy cameras, then started reviewing the basics of photography. It wasn't a theory class, per se, but he spent as much time as it took going over both how our cameras take photos, and how we perceive them. The room was set up for a simple PowerPoint-style presentation, but it was always in the background as we moved back and forth between our devices and discussion. Just setting expectations: about 75-80% of the class is "ground school" -- we worked with our cameras and settings indoors, practicing a bit on nearby objects, and then venturing outside for some practice. Tom made it fun, setting us up for a bit of a scavenger hunt in his back patio that's clearly designed to get us looking at the objects a little more deeply, and playing with focus and depth of field to achieve artistic effect. By the end of the day, I didn't feel like a "pro," by any stretch of imagination. But I did feel like I had the potential to get there. I haven't switched my camera back to "Auto" mode since the class. I've taken some lousy photos, and then realized what I'd done wrong. And I've taken some amazing shots. My only gripe about the class? It's too short. I left wondering, "ok, what next?" Tom offers a number of other opportunities like photo walks, and I'll be taking him up on them in the near future, but I definitely felt like there could have been a second day. That said, I think that's a good thing: the class achieves a "jump start" for new photographers, and leaves you wanting more.

If you're like me and bought a nice camera to better capture your life and travels, but then…read morerealized you had no idea how to actually use it, take Tom's DSLR/M Jumpstart to Photography class! Tom has a great way of breaking down concepts so they feel approachable rather than intimidating. The hands-on practice is incredibly helpful because you're not just learning the theory--you're immediately putting it into action. One of the biggest things I took away from the course was confidence. Sometimes all you need is someone knowledgeable to confirm that you're on the right track and help you understand what to work on next. This class did exactly that for me. Tom also reinforced something that seems obvious but is easy to forget: the best way to improve your photography is simply to get out and shoot. The more you practice, the more comfortable and intuitive it becomes. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone who has owned a camera for years but never moved beyond auto mode, I highly recommend this course. You'll leave with a much better understanding of your camera and the confidence to start taking the photos you've always wanted to capture.

I wanted to better connect with the language associated with my heritage, so I decided to invest the time and money to learn Tagalog. I took the Level 1 hybrid course with Rhya in early summer 2026. Overall, it provided a great foundation for introductory grammar and vocab for Tagalog. By the end of the first course, you quickly become comfortable being able to ask simple questions (like where are you from? what's your name?), answering with affirmative/negation statements, and even being able to ask "how much/how many" with Tagalog numbers right off the bat. The class structure felt perfect, with the small class sizes. The course was very interactive, as we were constantly engaging and practicing the language throughout each course. And of course, it provided a safe space to make mistakes and grow with the language. If we made a mistake, Rhya would walk us through our mistake to help understand where it was and why the correct answer was provided. The class structure was also perfect for my work schedule. There were times I had to travel for work and miss a lecture. Because I was signed up for the hybrid course, I was provided class recordings after each session, allowing me to catch up and not feel left behind. The sessions are definitely catered to working adults, with all courses being offered in the evenings. Each session was 90 mins long each week for 7 weeks. I learned a lot from Level 1, and I'm excited to continue on to Level 2!

The instructor that I had, Keiko is great. She is very patient and always willing to help. (The courses can be fast though depending the language and the books being used). The other people there are always very polite and helpful as well. The facility, while basic, is clean and conducive to learning. They seem to use a mix of media (e.g. slides, Quizlet, etc. which is good). FYI - it is near SJC - San Jose Int'l airport and the jets taking off can be somewhat loud at times.

Echoing my friend Cindy L, yes, this team is FABULOUSSSSSSSS and FASTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more I met Michael in 2009, and I knew he and his team would be my wedding photographer and cinematographer one day when I tie the knot. In 2010, I introduced my start-up company in Redwood City to Michael and his team to do an IoT video and they loved his work. The animation was pure genius and story line was so easy to comprehend. In 2014, I introduced my best friend, Cindy L, to Michael and his team, for her wedding, and she and her husband absolutely fell in love with Capture the Love photos and cinematography. Fast forward to 2016. When my NOW husband and I booked Nestldown for our wedding venue in 2016, I knew IMMEDIATELY who I would have as my photographer and cinematographer--the wonderful Capture the Love team!!! I did not even shop around. Right after we signed the contract with Nestldown, I immediately called Michael Soo and made sure we reserve him for Fall 2017 before another couple snatch him from us. Michael and his team come at a price, but you SERIOUSLY pay for what you get. I honestly don't know any team who work as fast as this team. We took our engagement photos and finished around 5pm and within 3 hours, we received sneak previews, and by 9pm, we received all our photos! We had our wedding on Saturday, which ended at 10pm, and by midnight, we received 2 sneak previews!!!! On Tuesday (yes less than 72 hours later), we received another 20 photos!!!! He informed us that all the photos will be ready by Friday afternoon (less than 7 days from our wedding!!) ! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY, no one works this fast, except this fabulous team. I keep looking at the 20+ photos and I am still floating on cloud 9 and reliving every moment of our wedding day. On the day of our wedding, the team showed up early, which was SOOOO MUCH appreciative, so they could ensure they were able to capture every little minute detail. They always had a smile on their faces, even when they have to deal with crazy family members and vendors who get in the way of the shots. I looked in the corner of my eye and I was personally annoyed certain ppl/kids were in the shot, but the team was very professional and never yelled or had a frown on their faces. This definitely helps keep the bride calm. I never doubted this team and trusted them whenever they told us to go here and there, and do this and that pose. I told them, "tell us what to do and we will do it!" I can't wait to see all the photos and the cinematography so I can relive one of the best days of my life! When you ask former brides and grooms for wedding planning tips, they always say, "spend money on your photography and cinematography!!!" Best advice ever since you get to keep these photos and videos forever compared to florals which will last no more than a few days! Thank you so much Capture the Love!! Money well spent!!! I highly recommend if you're in the market for photography or/and cinematography!!!

In fact, in their FAQ section there is a statement that a deposit was not required of rental reservations. In hindsight, we should have known when we reached out a week in advance to confirm and they did not reach out back to us. Truly disappointing and stressful to our group figuring out a no-show the night before our event.
