The "pound " cake was not a real pound cake. Just an overpriced layer cake without the middle layer. We actually choked on it it was so dry. The layer cake was nothing more than an overpriced box cake. The strawberry shortcake looked pretty but was terrible. It was all cream and strawberries but not much cake underneath all the cream and just fell apart when we tried to cut it. The girl told me I didn't have to refrigerate it, so I'm thinking they didn't and that's why it tasted rancid! The only thing I got that were really good were the Danish. They were big, fresh and delicious. When I placed my order, I was told I could pay when I got there. Then, a girl called me back and said I had to put at least $20 on my credit card for the order to go through. The next day, the owner called me and said she really required half to be put down and said the girl who took my order was young and didn't know the rules (not my fault or problem). She was afraid I was going to stiff them she said! That's outrageous. I was coming from an hour away. Threw a lot of these expensive baked goods away. That's pretty bad. Rude & unprofessional. Some Stale cupcakes. I am having a wedding with a celeb fiancé. I gave them two chances to be professional. The employees there appeared to only let the person of a similar race as mine wait on me. I was shocked at the way I was treated in my opinion it was racial discrimination. i ordered my wedding cake from here and that was 16 years ago and people still talk about how delicious it was.. i ordered my husbands birthday cake and had it delivered to his job. Walked in and had to walk out without buying anything. Some food wasn't labeled with prices and the labels that did exist were unreadable. Customers were in front of all the cases so I couldn't even see food to help make a decision. Unless you know exactly what you want and/or have beyond perfect vision (or psychic powers to guess prices), you will be as frustrated as I was. I've been a fan of this bakery since I moved here 4 years ago, and I won't go anywhere BUT here for all of my baked goods. It just isn't a birthday or special occasion without an amazing Weinrich cake. Our favorite is the white with butter cream. The cakes always look spectacular, and the staff works with you to create a real work of art that tastes as delectable as it looks. Do not go to weinrich's for special occasion cakes. I went in to place an order for 2 cakes. The employees behind the counter could not answer any questions regarding my order. They had to keep going in the back to ask someone else. They did not have any pictures to show as examples. I ended up canceling one of the orders because I realized how ridiculous it was to pay close to $50 for a fairly simple 8 inch round cake. I still got the baptism cake even though that seemed overpriced as well ie $8 up charge to have a cross on the cake. When I went to pick it up, the lights were out and the door was locked even though it was not yet closing time. I had to point at my watch to get them to open the door. The cake ended up being the tackiest thing I have ever seen. So disappointed...got better service and a prettier cake at Walmart for 1/3 the price:-( read more

The cake here is phenomenal. I love the texture and the taste of the cake. Most of all the icing is not SUPER SWEET. I love sweets but not a big fan of super sweet icing. When I am around the area I try to stop by to pick up cupcakes or order a small cake. The donuts is delicious too! read more

I had heard how great this bakery supposedly was. I was planning on ordering my daughter's 21st birthday cake for her party, however I WILL NEVER order from here after what they did to my friend. She ordered a number 1 cake and a sheet cake for her son's first birthday party (this past Sunday (09-07-14). The so called fresh cake was frozen and not ready when she went to pick it up. It was scheduled for an 8:00 am pick up, She had to wait for it almost 1/2 and hour. Past that lets discuss the cake, it was a very ugly cake, sloppy and not what she ordered!!! The number 1 looked like a lower case L. They decided to put all these gaudy balloons on the cake, which she did not request. When she asked why would they put so many globed out balloons on the cake she was told it " was to hold the cake together"!! The hand writing looked like a 5 year old wrote it half in print and half in cursive. She called to complain and the teenager who was "in charge" at the moment was rude and non accommodating!! They almost ruined the party, not to mention they ruined my girlfriends day. She returned the cakes got her money back and went to a different bakery. It was sad that this bakery ruined the cake that she had her heart set on for her son's birthday!!!! I WILL NEVER order from here and will make sure to spread the word and show the pictures of the 2 ugliest birthday cakes (that were no where near cheap)and I will repeat this story to anyone I know that may even think of ordering from here!!! I've been coming to this bakery for years! Every time I am home, I try to make it there to get the cookies however, lately I've seen a drastic spike in the price. The cookies were $10 a pound and now they are up to $15 (a 50% spike in price). I mean, they're good, but not that good. I don't understand why they have gone up so high. Are we literally paying for their expansion in cookies? What ingredients have gone up that could explain the drastic spike? I may have to just forgo them and find something else... read more

I have been to Europe & I am always looking for a good bakery here. I drove past here once & I decided to try it. It looks old fashioned & has a German name so it should be good, right? I got a pound of what they called butter cookies & 4 tea biscuits. The cookies were $18 per pound. I think they forgot the butter. I have had better cookies from Pepperidge farm. I am very unhappy with the 80th birthday cake for my parents that was ordered for September 20, 2015. It wasn't cheap and it wasn't what was ordered. We ordered a cake shaped like a book, with fall colors and trims. What we got was an UGLY cake not in fall colors. It is a shame, because they had done a beautiful job on my niece's first birthday cake in May. I have voiced my opinion & sent a photo of the cake to the owner without a return reply.. Its sad since my niece & sister spoke to a decorator and had what was wanted on paper. Still it was no where near what was ordered and expected. Two weeks later a niece picked up a birthday cake at Sam's Club and it was decorated better and in the requested bright fall colors. She paid $18 for the same size cake that was ordered at Weinrich. . I would not recommend Weinrich's for any cake. We had to take the UGLY cake since the party was the same day in a couple of hours and there was no time to order another cake. read more

this bakery is unreal. hands down the BEST cake in the area, and probably somewhat of a best kept secret. their pound cake is as good as, or better, than Stock's, and their icing is heaven. My family has used this bakery for almost everything (except special italian pastry- termini's for that!) for decades. they also serve torero coffee which is local, hard to come by, and exquisite. for being such a fine bakery their prices are reasonable, especially compared to some of the nuveau boutique bakeries in the city. read more

Been going to Weinrich's bakery for over 20 years and for the most part found it to be reasonably priced if a little bit on the high side when it comes to price on their baked goods. I am aware this bakery is not the caliber of some of the classic south Philly and northeast Philadelphia bakeries that set the standard. More than once a birthday cake was on the dry side and as we are all aware you can't return it. My most recent visit however will cause me to always ask price before buying their cookies and smaller items priced by the pound. Buyer beware that $15 a pound is a lot to pay for small 1-2 inch oatmeal raisin or sugar cookies. To my disappointment this equals 4 cookies to a quarter pound or 1$ per small cookie. The servers seemed to have no clue as to price and what was appropriate and ultimately pulled the price out of the air. Just a caution make sure you get your money's worth. May seem like a nit but the person waited on ahead of my had the same issue with cookies he bought. read more

I don't even want to give one star for this bakery. Let's see. I sent in a few pictures of cakes I liked for my son's Baptism and called for prices. The girl was nice over the phone, but didn't understand what I was saying, so I told them I would come in on Saturday. I went in and the girls were so rude. No one said hello... at that point I thought I should just leave, but I figured I needed to order this cake and I read good reviews. Well I sat down with Jesi and told her exactly what I wanted. A cross cake with NO FLOWERS. I told her about 3 times how I wanted his cake very simple and plain. She told me that she would make sure the cake was exactly what we wanted. My boyfriend and mom pick up the cake Sunday morning and sent me a picture of it. Sure enough there are big flowers all over it!!!! I call and the girl put Jesi on the phone and she said "Oh yah I remember, no flowers".. but there was big flowers all over. She then said there is a new cake designer and she didn't know... so that means I get a cake I didn't ask for? She went and got the owner Beth who is the rudest (I guess thats why all the people who work there are nasty.. bad leadership) Anyway, she tells me to bring the cake back and they'll fix it. Keep in mind, I am leaving for the mass in an hour. Then she said well were is the party? I tell her and I was thinking maybe she'll drop another cake off. She saids "Oh you have time to come back?" I told her I didn't and I said this is ridiculous, ect. She screams at me and said "WELLL WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?" I couldn't believe it! I never been treated so badly anywhere. I would never recommend anyone to go to that bakery. And the cake sucked. It was a pound cake and it was so dry.
