My vehicle would not start. Occurred in the parking lot of my employer. My coworker contacted Weissman. Rick said I should stop by. My coworkers were able to jumpstart the vehicle. This was about 2 pm. I live in the Wisconsin Dells, and cannot drive at night. Was getting nervous as to whether I would get out of there and home before the sun went down. I am generally cynical person when it comes to mechanics. You just can't tell the honest ones from the crooked ones. I have had 4 cars serviced here and always had thoughts of "was that really necessary?" Yesterday we took our SUV in for suspected axel issue. We were expecting a $300-500 fix. It was just a simple wheel issue. It wasn't put on correctly. No charge. They very easily could have said "yup an axel issue" and replaced good functioning parts. They were honest and it makes me feel comfortable that all the past repairs on our other 4 cars were necessary. I trust them and recommend that you do as well. read more

It's time for an update for these folks! I've only visited Weissman in the past for state license inspections, and I stand by my report that the inspection process here is fast, painless, and a far better experience than I ever had from the state facilities! Last week, I found myself in quick need of an auto repair, my car broke as I was pulling out of the driveway to start a road trip! I called here, they had me bring my car in and they worked it into their busy schedule for the day - I even got a ride home! The tech explained everything he wanted to do, and why. He winced as much as I did at the cost of the needed parts, one of them is an electrical component that i$ only available from the brand'$ dealer$hip - which mean$ "expen$ive" before you even know what it is. We discussed the alternative - getting a used part from a boneyard - which in the case of electrical parts isn't always a wise choice. After a good explanation, we went ahead with the needed repairs. When it was over, my car was fine (although my checking account isn't. Sigh.) The tech and the owner were friendly and informative. As I mentioned in my previous review, the shop is extremely clean. Everyone is friendly and professional. On top of it all, these are car people. They appreciate old cars and performance cars as much as modern cars. I have in the past taken older vehicles to this shop. Then I bought new and that stopped except for the occasional repair on an older Mercedes. I had my exhaust replaced on my Subaru and had O2 sensor errors. Since the car has an after market catalytic convertor after replacing the mid-pipe, Y and mufflers the dealer said they could not/would not attempt replacing the sensors I ordered. They looked rusted in place (2 year old catalytic convertor). I paid the bill and paid for the sensors and on my way home stopped at Weissman. I explained the situation to Dylan. He pulled the car in for a quick check. It seemed there had been no attempt to remove the sensors. Dylan did and installed the new sensors, no problem. The O2 sensor errors were gone, cost for the work - $85.00. This was a cost savings of over $1,000 for me. Weissman is busy for a reason. They provide great service and fair pricing. This family-run business is worth the stop if you need maintenance or repairs for your vehicle. They take the time to research out options for you and I feel they are fair on pricing. My only complaint is that they will recommend the most comprehensive repair if you only need it to be a budget repair, but are receptive to your money concerns. Wissman's does DOT inspections, and by far one of the most reasonably priced oil and rotation prices, plus they actually check out your car for other issues. In all, I would trust any of my vehicles to Weissman's over going to a dealer or bigger name repair place. read more

Although they do get the job done, beware that you will get over charged. I had my started replaced and according to the avarage starter repair job in the area, they charge $200 more. A Remy starter would cost around $140, I was charged double for it at $300. Labor was $219 which is about $109.50 an hour. My vehicle had been sitting on their lot for 5 days when it was finally repaired. I would have had to pay $100 to tow it elsewhere so I paid the price and went on my way. The brake pedal was getting soft on my 2001 BMW 330ci on Thursday, June 25, 2020. I stopped at Menard's and checked my master cylinder to find it nearly empty so I got a few pints of the right brake fluid. Put a bit over a pint in and my brakes worked well enough to take a slow, short ride to Weissman Auto Repair at 1AM. I am from the Madison area, but remembered my parents taking their Buick Park Avenue's there and being happy with the service so I drove there and parked in back. Slept a few hours so I was waiting when they opened and at 8AM. As I described the problem, the mechanic told me approximately how much the repair would cost. At the end of the day, the estimate was close enough not to mention the difference. What I will mention is the kindness of the woman who owns the shop with her husband. She remembered me from the day I came in with my mother over a year earlier. I asked who I could call for a ride and she had one of her employees give me a ride to my landscaping job, with my tools. The shop called me a couple times during the day to keep me up to date on their progress. I picked up my car at 4:30PM. It was fixed and the brakes worked like new. On a Friday, the chance of getting new brake lines from a BMW dealer, delivered in time for a same day repair are about zero. Weissman Auto Repair made the brake lines in house. Based on my experience over the last couple of days with Weissman Automotive I feel compelled to share what happened. I'm not one to write reviews on companies, but in this instance I feel I need to. The long and short of the story is never, never, ever take your vehicle to Weissman Automotive. Their motto is "Service, Quality, Satisfaction!!" and they claim all repairs carry our 100% satisfaction guarantee. If nothing else I contend that those claims on their website are false advertising... So, last Friday I took my car to have some service work done by them. The local Ford dealership told me that I needed several things done to my Explorer. I wanted a second opinion so I went to Weissman Automotive. The experience on Friday was great. I got excellent service and they fixed the issues I was having (ignition coils and spark plugs). While doing the repair they caused or at the very least accelerated another issue with my truck (a hose assembly/heater tube). On Tuesday evening when I was driving home my Explorer stopped working on the highway, I had to have my car towed. Since I just had service work done had it towed to Weissman Automotive. When I spoke to Jim about the Explorer on Wednesday after he had a chance to look at it he explained that his technician might have caused the problem but it wasn't their fault. The analogies that he used was "if a plumber comes to your house to fix the toilet and the light in the bathroom burns out while he is in their it is not the plumber's fault. I'm not sure I see the connection, but anyway... Not really having a choice I asked him to complete the repair. He let me know the cost and I asked if he could do anything about the price given the situation. Jim let me know I was already getting a good deal. On Thursday when I went to pick up the Explorer I explained to Jim that I wasn't satisfied and I felt that they should take some responsibility. After arguing with him for about 5 minutes in which he repeatedly admitted that his technician likely cause the problem he refused to take any responsibility. He further shared an analogy that made it clear that he doesn't believe in good customer service. Jim said, "If I was driving your car to see what the issues were and I ran over a screw it wouldn't be my fault and Weismann Automotive wouldn't pay to fix the tire." I then let him know that he not only lost a customer but I would be sure to share with anyone that would listen the terrible service of Weissman Automotive. He got rather irate with me - to the point of swearing at me and his associate having to repeatedly ask him to calm down. Took my car in for brakes they told me I needed a new transmission. I guess they were right when they said not to come here if you are a woman. I should have listened. I took my car to a different shop in Germantown, had the brakes done ($108 cheaper, with parts from the dealer and not a small parts store!) no problems with it! SHADY LIARS - NOT VERY IMPRESSED this Auto shop. I currently had a car that was on its last limb. MY husband and I decided that it was time for a new car. So I had told them we were going to donate it to kidsforcars and Rick asked if he could have the car for parts for a small fee $200. That sounded reasonable. Then why 2 weeks later did I see it outside of the shop for sale for $1800. So for a small profit was it worth it to lie, take money away from a child who could have used it more than him. If he wanted to flip it, he didn't have to lie. It makes me wonder what else they lie about. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Had a set of tires put on my wheels I had just gotten powder coated. I explained to the counter person that I wanted extreme care taken so that the wheels weren't scratched or scuffed during mounting and balancing. When I received the wheels and tires, there were deep gouges in the paint from their tire machine on the inside of the rim, visible from the outside face. They had attempted to cover up the damage on one of the wheels with flat black paint (see picture in Weissman Citysearch profile), on satin black wheels and did not tell me this upon pick up. Very noticeable, very underhanded. The counter man, Jim, admitted it was the technicians fault but Rick, the owner, would only refund the money paid for mounting and balancing, he refused to pay the $400.00 it will cost to redo powder coating, plus $50 to have tires removed again. Rick said "Maybe if this were a high end wheel from a Lamborghini I could do something." So, apparently you need to be wealthy and drive a $300,000 car to get proper quality service here. Rick also said that the type of damage was unavoidable, which is untrue and verified by two other national tire shops I called. He was given a chance to correct the situation, and opted not to.
