They do a great job, but if you send coupons out, please honor them otherwise that's false advertising. You don't want that reputation. I literally just received the flyer in my mailbox 2 weeks ago. Responded to the mail flyer for a discounted oil change for $49.99 for 5 qts of synthetic. Called and scheduled the appointment a week ahead of time. Told them I was using the coupon. They found my make model and trim of vehicle from my license plate and never said anything about the coupon not applying. Took the morning off work to bring it in since they aren't open weekends. Go in and guy says that will be $139.99. I say I'm using the coupon and he says because they have to use a certain type of synthetic and an extra quart it will be $90 more! They knew this because they had my car info already and never mentioned it in the whole week before the appt. Talk about trying to bait and switch people. I'd stay away from these people if I were you. read more

I had one headlight that was out and the other bulb was flickering. They gave me a bill for $170 to tell me the headlights weren't working, which my car told me for free. They then told me they would need an additional $950 to further diagnose why the bulbs aren't working. I did not let them work on the car further. As it turns out, all I needed was new headlights. Either they scam customers or the tech doesn't know what he's doing. read more

RUN... don't just walk away from American Imports repair facility on County Line Road in Menomonee Falls, WI which relies on their hope that most drivers today are completely ignorant about the most basic functions of their cars, thereby making it easier to tack on expensive, redundant diagnostics that have already been performed elsewhere Using the exact same diagnostic equipment that American Imports uses. We had noticed that a "check engine light" had recently appeared on our dashboard, and whether you realize it or not, many auto parts stores such as AutoZone will provide a completely free service when they take their OBD II (On Board Diagnostic II code checking device) Out to your car in the parking lot... Spend maybe three minutes downloading the information through a connector directly underneath most cars steering column... Returning into the store and taking two more minutes to print out an explanation about any and all codes that appeared as well as the most likely causes of the code error. It indicated One likely cause... An MAF sensor malfunction. Pretty simple, right? When we called American imports and explained this code diagnostic was already completed and we had a code for them that they could check, and we told them that it was most likely an MAF (Mass airflow) Sensor, and That since this was an electronic part it's not something that they can Just "visually inspect" to verify if the part is good or bad because electronics don't work that way. We just wanted a "rough estimate" on how much that might cost us to HAVE THEM replace it if we brought our business back to them as we have had other simple services performed by them in the past. American imports STEADFASTLY REFUSED to give us a rough, non-binding estimate because as they repeatedly said, "I just wouldn't feel comfortable giving you a rough estimate because if it turns out that it's not that part, then you might get mad". What actually made us mad was that American imports is not a company that is transparent enough to know How much a service like this costs and then be proud of it enough that they would say oh that will probably run you $175 OR $200 (or whatever because that part with a lifetime guarantee at AutoZone cost $131 And takes no more than 10 minutes to remove the old sensor and install the new ) if that turns out to be the part that needs replacement.Simple, right? Not for American Imports. We then repeatedly pointed out that this was not a request for an "official " on-paper written form, or even in written form via text or email... It was just a ballpark estimate because like most Americans, we are on a tight budget and we were already getting some other services performed by them and we just wanted to make sure that we had enough money budgeted. Many customers just blindly trust American Imports Because AM.Imp. are very smiley and pleasant when you are in their facility... and they have many positive reviews. But also Note there are multiple UNHAPPY customers displeased with the pure vagueness of what American Imports tries to pass off as their "billing invoice". For example, we also had a tire rotation performed, and I've never had a repair facility that didn't list what the outgoing tire air pressures were when done... And there was no listing for the tread depth of the tires they rotated. They just rely on generic statements like "pressures were set to manufacturers recommendations" so they feel they can't legally be held liable if you have a tire blowout based on improperly set pressures because they didn't state what they ever Set it. Sneaky... Not transparent. I've pointed out the problems with their lack of details in the past when I've had services performed, and they've made no effort to change it. The final straw with American imports lies in the fact that even if we spent $129 for their duplicate diagnostic...American Imports wouldn't pledge that if theirs turned out to be exactly the same information That AutoZone provided FOR FREE , That they would reduce the diagnostic charge. read more

Just want to say thanks for your professionalism dealing with our emergency on a Friday afternoon at 3pm while traveling through Milwaukee. We were in the area looking at apartments for our daughter. As we were getting ready to head to Chicago for the weekend our daughter's check engine light was flashing and she had no acceleration on the interstate...did I mention this was on a Friday at 3pm??? . Appreciated everything you did for us even though this became a dealership issue. You could have told us you didn't want to look at it because of your busy day but you took the time (on a Friday at 3pm!!) to help an out of towner out not knowing they will be living in the community next year. American Imports is the most HONEST automotve repair company that I have ever used. I just had my timing belt and water pump changed at an excellent price!!! They are honest and will never tell you that you need something repaired when you don't. This is a great place to have your car serviced if you are a woman. very honest. very helpful. very compassionate. I had purchased a lemon off of Craigslist with the starter going. the car ended up not starting in the falls. I was given their card by a person helping me. called and they were super friendly. asked about pricing since I hadn't a lot of money and was responded with, 'we're not the cheapest place in town though we are very honest'. oh how that lived up! called the tow service they work with and ended up getting a discount since I was going to them. since my starter was acting up they were able to drive it off the tow truck. since the problem wasn't going on (the tow truck probably was bumpy which realigned the fibers in the starter to work) they could only be 90% positive that was the cause. since there were multiple things wrong with my lemon they let me drive it home to get rid of it. I was expecting to pay for the mechanic's time, however it was just the tow fee! going out for a car today and taking it there to get looked at first!
