One of our AC units was struggling to keep up with the 100+ degree temps. Unit kept kicking on and off and would only cool down to 81 degrees in the house. I worked for an AC manufacturer for a year, right out of college. The basics haven't changed. I figured it was 1 of 2 things, either a bad capacitor or low on freon. Turns out it was both. Capacitor wasn't completely shot, but getting there. I asked up front how much a freon top off would be. $379.00. Steep, but I can't do it myself because you need a license to even buy freon. The capacitor is $8.99 on Amazon for the exact same part/brand. I'm sure they buy it cheaper. Tech (I gave him $20.00 cash, up front to not rip me off) told me it was $80.00 to replace the capacitor. Takes less than 3 minutes to walk to the truck and back to get the part and 20 seconds to plug it in. Again, I could do it myself, but he was here, so I let him. Bill should've been $461. Nope. Chris charged me $638.00. The discrepancy? They charge you for another $200.00 service call to replace the capacitor!!! Even though the tech is here! Total rip off. So, to recap if you call them and they come out and add freon and leave, it's 379.00. If you call them the next day and a guy comes out to replace the capacitor and leaves, it's $280.00. But crooked Any Hour charges you for two services calls to do different things when they only came out once. I'm betting that if it needed something else it would be the cost of the part, the time to replace it AND ANOTHER $200.00 service call. AND they don't give you a invoice broken down between parts, labor, jobs, etc. Only 1 total invoice with a fat charge. I tried to cancel my credit card charge, but they run it immediately. A sure sign that their ripoff business model is purposeful. Tell everyone to stay away from this corrupt company.

When we turned on the water to the cooler we discovered the water line was cracked and leaking, but Dustin worked with me to find a solution to make sure we got the cooler up and running same day, despite not having the length of line he needed. I really appreciated Dustin's willingness and enthusiasm to provide a workable solution for us. So many technicians would just shrug and suggest calling the office to schedule another time to address this issue or begrudgingly consider alternate approaches but Dustin went above and beyond to provide excellent customer customer service as if he owned the company himself, something I was pleasantly surprised to experience with a company as large as this. I will definitely be using My Buddy The Plumber again for all of my future plumbing and HVAC needs and recommend you to do the same! Tyler and Skyler showed up to install two tall toilets...and some other stuff that kept changing. I…read morereally appreciate the flexibility as I figured out what I needed. Tyler originally came last week and gave me an estimate on options, describing the pros and cons of each. He was very knowledgeable and I really felt like he was honest and forthright. We ended up with two toilets, two grab bars, and repairing a broken water controller in the tub. I though it just needed to be screwed back on and asked for help with that, but it turned out a part was broken (my dad had fallen and hit it), so Tyler gave me instructions and I ran to Home Depot while they were working on the toilets. Tyler ran into a snag with one of the toilets. We've been aware from right after moving in that the builders here cut a lot of corners, and they also did that with the toilet installment. So Tyler had to work around the weird jerry-rigging done by the lousy builders, resulting in extra work and extra time. He explained the issue and showed me how he was dealing with it. In the meantime, Skyler worked on the broken water controller, discovering more damage than expected. They didn't even charge me for that word, saying since it didn't take them any more time, since Skyler worked on it while Tyler took care of the weird toilet issues. They consulted with me all along the way about how and where to install the grab bars, checking to make sure they were absolutely solid, having me look over everything and give my ok. Everything looks great. I really appreciate the professionalism and expertise of these men. Our home is a safer place, and I am so thankful. They were able to come do the job quickly (two days after I accepted the estimate). These guys will have my business in the future.

The copper lining of my outdoor spigot must have had some water in it over the winter, subsequently froze, and caused a major crack in the pipe. This spigot just so happens to be the only one available for my swamp cooler to connect to. Being without any sort of AC for any period of time during the Utah summer is a bad time, so I am glad Hot and Soft were able to finish this up quick. Shoe covers, on time, knowledgeable, and friendly. All I could ever ask for when it comes to anyone in the trades, but especially someone repairing stuff on my home. Their prices are fair, and the repair itself was done in less than an hour. I would definitely recommend this team and any of their techs. Will be using them in the future as well.

My AC decided to die on me last week and these guys were amazing!…read more First of all I live in a gated community of townhomes and my unit is in the middle so access is not an easy task. Upon arrival these guys were friendly and very informative. They assessed the situation and let me know the fan in the unit had been completely destroyed by something getting into it. Both of my outdoor AC unit and the indoor funace/ac were 20 yrs old and not functioning well to begin with, then it started making a rattling sound and was super loud then it just stopped completely, which is the reason I called. Chase was very helpful showing me my different options and explaining the difference between them all, he offered the option of financing and helped me through the payment process and explained clearly when I asked about thier cancelation policy which was as simple as if you cancel then u are refunded your deposite in full no questions asked. The delivery of the unit was complicated as I am the middle unit in my complex so They brought in a crane and Regie helped the incredible operator direct it onto my back deck with no damage to my gutters and precision of placement, he put the new unit in place and had the old unit removed again by crane which is quite a task but such an amazing option to have especially in my situation. He also removed my old furnace/ac in the basement and brought all new equipment down for the following morning. He was a one man show on this job aside from the crane operator, I'm assuming because of the 4th of July the day before, and he crushed it!! The next day Todd and his partner showed up early and orked diligently and effectively! They we're able to come up with solutions with the thermostat and wiring that saved me some dry wall repair, which I greatly appreciate!! Overall my experience was very positive and I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an honest, reliable, and trustworthy team of employees and buisness!

Please disregard my previous 9 year old 5 star review…read more Something has changed with this company, IMHO, and not for the better. Several weeks ago I made an appointment for a general routine furnace and a/c inspection and service. They booked me for 6/18...I asked for an early morning appointment and was advised that the closest they could come would be an 0800 to 1100 window. Had not heard anything from them until 6/18 when I called them at 0900 to see if I was scheduled...they confirmed. At 0955 they texted me to advise the tech was running late but would be there shortly. I texted back and asked how many calls the tech had made that morning. I received no response. No one ever showed up. At 1100 I called to reschedule as I couldn't wait around any longer for them. They suggested that I not reschedule as they were several weeks out and couldn't get to me until il mid-August. I couldn't believe that...a long time customer who purchased a full system from them 9 years ago...who has had them service my system every year for both heating and cooling...and this is how they think they should solve a problem that they created. They have absolutely zero problem wasting customer time, and make absolutely no effort in trying to remedy a situation in favor of the customer. I told them that I was taking my business elsewhere. Maybe there has been a change in ownership and/or management, but whatever it is, I'm staying away from them...far away.

In 2024, Nearby Plumbing visited our home to answer questions, inspect, and provide a free estimate…read morefor several issues related to our new home's plumbing, gas line, and sewage ejector pump. Different plumbers were used during our home build, and unfortunately, those other plumbers took costly shortcuts on our home. We had something come up, which required postponing the work for about a year, but Nearby Plumbing happily returned and provided updated estimates, answered more of our questions and again didn't charge us a penny. We scheduled the work and Nearby Plumbing helped us fix a gas line that was leaking in a few locations inside of our mechanical room, added a missing service valve to our sewage ejector pump and also upgraded the pump to include a grinder (reducing chances of a clog and sewage backup), added a wifi monitoring alarm to the ejector pump (to alert us in case the pump ever fails), and added a hose spigot to our mechanical room to make filling up emergency water storage easier. Nearby Plumbing was great to work with. I appreciated their patience with scheduling the work on our timeline, the way they listened to our questions and concerns, and their solutions to correct the issues that our builder and original home-build contractors left us with. My wife and I have learned that finding contractors who are honest, good at what they do, and who treat your home as if it were their home is less common these days. I'm glad we found Nearby Plumbing. They are our new go-to plumbers! :-)
