The owner, Jennifer, called to address these final issues. Her exact response was, "I'm sorry we cannot meet your level of service." To be clear, the "level of service" we expected was simply that our cats' litter box be cleaned, our basic safety instructions be followed, and unauthorized guests not be brought into our home. This is not an extreme expectation; it is the baseline requirement of professional pet care. Our issues began during a prior booking when a sitter routinely brought her young child into our home without our prior knowledge or consent. Our home is not childproofed, making this a significant liability and a violation of privacy. I brought this directly to Jennifer, expecting no future protocol violations. Unfortunately, our most recent trip proved that oversight remains a systemic issue. We returned home at 11:00 AM immediately following a scheduled final morning visit to find the following conditions: Neglected Sanitation: The litter box was entirely full with no fresh litter added. It had been neglected long enough that our two cats resorted to urinating and defecating on the floor outside the box. Safety Protocol Ignored: We explicitly instructed that the cats could enjoy the lanai during visits, but must be brought inside with the lanai door securely shut upon departure. Leaving this open during a Florida summer is a severe heat hazard. 9 to 5 Pets completely ignored this safety directive. Lack of Home Maintenance: Dried cat spit-up was left on the floor for days, indicating the sitters were not actively inspecting the living spaces. HOA Non-Compliance: Basic requests to return the garbage cans to their proper place were ignored. They were left out for days, resulting in an official warning from our HOA. Every instruction violated was clearly outlined in our routinely updated online profile. Jennifer's dismissive response proves that 9 to 5 Pets does not take accountability for failing to meet basic industry standards of cleanliness, safety, and communication. If you require a service that respects your home boundaries and ensures the baseline well-being of your animals, I cannot recommend this company.

They were very accommodating and let me come by immediately for a meet and greet. Paul and Katie were very friendly and reassuring. My dogs took to them and had a blast during the short encounter. So, I boarded my dogs with them for a night the next day. Some things I'd like to highlight is that they have a spacious fenced in yard and a doggie door so the dogs can come and go as they please. My little brats could learn how to be dogs in a pack. Food is included and provided. They provide high quality grain free food that my dogs love and they leave it out so the dogs can graze. This is good if your dog eats when it's hungry. However, my dogs, being puggles, ate non-stop and Paul and Katie had to put the food up. They just fed my dogs like pigeons throughout the day instead. This is something you might want to consider if your dog has special dietary needs and will eat everything in sight. But apart from one of my dogs overeating till his all you can eat buffet was thwarted, all is good. Oh Katie is a nurse and she's able to put eye drops or whatever your dog needs. My dogs are fine, but it's something you might want to consider when picking a boarding place for your dogs. Best part about Just Like Home is that the dogs can go on the furniture and sleep with humans. My dogs lay on Paul and Katie and watched tv and slept with Paul at night. (Sorry, Paul, I know my dogs are walking heat packs.) I'm relieved that my dogs can get the human contact and attention that they crave. I don't have to feel bad that they are crying in a suite at some other boarding place. When I went to pick the dogs up, one of them came up to greet me, then ran back off to play with his friends. He didn't want to leave. The other one is a total momma's boy, so he stayed by me while we tried let the first one know that it was time to go home. Also, the rates here are very reasonable. I'll definitely take my dogs there again if I need to board them while I'm in Jacksonville.

I did a 'get acquainted visit' and my pups were greeted with love by Katie, Paul and they gang'. The true test was leaving them for an overnight. I picked them up this evening and they were too 'busy' playing with the other pups and following Katie around! (Guess they didn't exactly miss mom!). Katie helped my little almost blind AnnieRose learn to use a doggie door and navigate some little steps into the house. Katie is a nurse and she was fabulous about making sure AnnieRose got her eye drops faithfully. I don't think there is a more loving place to leave my little ones. Thank you Katie and Paul - They WILL be back because it is Just Like Home!

STAY AWAY!!! You've been warned…read more Here's what happened to us.... 1. NEVER CALLED BACK. When I arranged to have my dog (Milo) stay with Crystal we began talking through logistics but then she had to jump off and she said she'd call me right back. A couple of days later, after not hearing back from her, I called her again. She said she remembered me and tried calling me back but, "must have had the wrong number". Not sure how she could have had the wrong number when your phone shows "recent calls". 2. NO DOG TOYS. No dog toys in sight, inside or outside. 3. WENT RADIO SILENT. I heard from her on Sunday at 9:49am. After not hearing from her on Monday, I texted her on Tuesday at 1:58pm, No word back. I texted again on Wednesday at 8:08am. Still silence. I then texted her later that morning at 11:10am, left a voicemail at 11:43am, sent an email at 11:48pm, and a FB message around that same time. Lastly, I left her a missed call an hour later at 12:43pm. To summarize, I sent 3 texts, called 2x, and sent an email and FB message after not hearing from her in nearly 3 days. (She claimed I didn't give her time to get in touch with me because I only sent the email and FB message 1 hour prior to us connecting via phone. However, that disregards all of the texts and calls I made in an attempt to reach her before that.) 4. ONLY PICKED UP WHEN I CALLED FROM ANOTHER NUMBER. 5. CLAIMED SHE NEVER GOT MY TEXTS, VOICEMAIL, OR MISSED CALLS. When we did connect, she claimed she never received any of my texts, my voicemail, or my missed call. I believe she doesn't realize that the iphones show when texts have been delivered. 6. YELLED AT ME FOR THE MAJORITY OF OUR CALL. 7. WRONGFULLY CLAIMED I DEMANDED MILO SIT ON SOMEONE'S LAP FOR 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT. Not only did I never request he be in someone's lap 24/7 for two weeks, but that wouldn't even be feasible... I told Crystal that Milo is most comfortable with people and loves sitting on laps and shared how I hoped he could get some lap time at her place since he gets scared easily. That statement's far from demanding he sit on a lap for 2 weeks straight. 8. WRONGFULLY CLAIMED I ACCUSED HER OF NOT FEEDING MY DOG. This thought hadn't even crossed my mind. 9. LOST HER SH*T WHEN I ASKED FOR PICTURES, AFTER SHE TOLD ME I COULD ASK FOR PICTURES. When I dropped Milo off, she said, "He's your baby; if you want pictures of him, just text me!" I thought that was very kind. After she offered to share pictures with us, I texted her [at most] once a day to ask for a photo or video. Some days, I didn't ask at all. When she finally answered my phone (when I thought to use someone else's number) she then yelled at me and claimed I was demanding because I asked for photos. She said I was the most demanding customer she's had because when she offered to send me pictures, she hadn't wanted to send them almost daily, and it was my fault for asking for the photos... 10) CANCELLED ON US 1/2 WAY THOUGH DOG BOARDING LEAVING US STRANDED MID-VACATION. Our call ended with her telling me she wouldn't continue watching my dog because I was demanding (demanding of what? I still don't know... I guess for requesting the photos that she offered to send) and that I needed to have someone pick my dog up. This led me to scramble and have to find someone at the last minute to get my dog and then care for him just as the holidays are about to start.

I was assured our dogs would be thoroughly brushed, Ferminated, ears cleaned, anal glands expressed, nails trimmed, the hair on their paws and legs trimmed, and that they would be completely dry before pick up. After a day of grooming, our two dogs came home still damp and covered in loose hair. They did NOT smell good. In addition, neither dog had their nails trimmed and the hair on their paws was not touched. When I called to ask why their feet had been neglected (as my husband picked them up) the young man who answered said "they [the dogs] were coming at me" and "became defensive." Our dogs are 9 and 7 and have never once returned from any groomers (including PetSmart) with a similar report. I was so frustrated, I didn't ask about the disappointing condition of their coats. We were excited to think we'd found a great place to bring our dogs for grooming, but the search continues.

I was upset, and instead of addressing the mishandling, someone who appeared to be the manager came out and said they would effectively not take him in, warning that someone would likely have to pick him up the next day if he didn't "warm up" to the caretaker. I had to cancel my trip over this. I've never had issues boarding him elsewhere. I expect the owner will try to dismiss this, but people need to know this place may not match the positive reviews. If your dog reacts badly to mishandling, the consequences could be serious. Be warned.

Now for what I can say about one of the Vets, I knew James in high school, he has always had a quiet, calm and gentle demeanor. (James if you are reading this, this is not my real name, but Spencer's (King Charles Cavalier) "mom" is my mother...). He was always a good student and never got into trouble. You could tell he was raised with honesty and kindness being his most important values. If you are considering seeking care from these compassionate, cost efficient and knowledgeable practitioners, I encourage you to do so. They also have many positive reviews on the app Nextdoor. I can go on and on about how they go above and beyond for their patients/client, but hopefully this says enough!!

The lack of compassion and professionalism was shocking. In my opinion, Dr. Johnson should not be practicing veterinary medicine. I strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere. I requested that Dr. Ronald Greshake the owner of Vet-I-Care Animal Hospital contact me but I never heard from him.
