Further details: Admittedly, I initially opted for this location due to the unmatched coupon available within a reasonable amount of distance from me for a full synthetic oil change with tire rotation. When I called to confirm I spoke with the shop owner, Dave, who was both very helpful and accommodating. He was even able to fit me in the same morning. I got there and recognized the waiting space, as well as the bathrooms, was clean and well maintained. Then Dave came in to introduce himself, and he was equally as customer oriented and friendly as on the phone as well as trying to be as efficient as possible as well as pointing out to me where I can find water if I needed some. Additionally, I couldn't help but overhear a stressful situation another customer was having (that was no fault to the shop at all) but they were having a difficult time understanding how to fix the problem and seemingly insisting that it was a "group situation" for the shop- but surely he was very patient and mild as well as helpful as he could be in the situation. That kind of customer service speaks volumes to me- I'm very customer service oriented and really trust and appreciate that kind of unteachable quality in character. With oil changes, especially if/when using a coupon or something alike, I typically anticipate some hidden fees and/or a lot of pressure from shops to shake more money out of me. With this shop, this wasn't the case at all, I actually never realized how much that kind of thing stressed me out going into a simple oil change until I wasn't put in that situation.

The car needed a complete assessment of the engine cylinder heads and a question of whether the challenges, length of time, repairs needed and expense would be worth the money. In the end, I decided it was all worth it, largely because I trusted Ralph and his team. I found Farrow's to be thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and communicative. Not so from a local dealer's Subaru service department which may have actually contributed to the problems with the engine (but I'll never know that for sure). My car was with Ralph and team for almost two months. Ralph never sugar coated anything -- was forthcoming about the time it would take for parts, repairs, etc, and the costs. They were diligent in working to diagnose the root cause, not just symptoms, to get it right. I picked up my car yesterday and needless to say: it's running great -- like having a completely new car (at 120k miles in).
