I've been in my 40 yr old house almost 30 yrs and still have some of the original window screens. They were in a sad sorry shape. I knew of John from when he purchased the business from the True Value hardware store at the corner of 183/McNeil about 13 yrs ago. I saw him in the store back then going over window screen operations with the owners who retired awhile later. I made sure to get his contact info then. Here I am 13 yrs later contacting him to do something for my house. John came out to my house, took a look and we proceeded to discuss what were the best options for covering my windows. He brought out his sample books and we managed to select some fabrics and the right color of metal frame. He dummied up some screens with different screen colors and installed them so we could make our final decision after viewing them over a couple days of full sun and overcast. After making our choice, he started making measurements. Now this is where his expertise shines through. He made multiple precise measurements on EACH and EVERY WINDOW. He knew that not everything was identical and could be off by as much as 1/4"-1/2". We did all 34 windows in our house, first and second floor, and John built each frame by hand and installed them himself. When he installed the solar screens, we had not washed the windows but that didn't matter. When John installs screens, he brings a basic paintbrush and brushes all the dust/dirt out of the crevices of each window so the screen installs like it should. Excellent job, excellent work! Worth every penny I paid and should cut way down on the heat gain from the sun during the summer (we face east, on a hill, and have very little shade most of the day). What a great experience! I had no idea where to turn to get a bent window screen repaired. I found Well Done Screen Repair was not too far away, so I reached out. Communication back and forth was easy and John was prompt on replying. I took my screen there, and John determined he needed to measure our window. He came out a day later to do the measurements - needed so he could add tension springs to the screen frame. The final screen was ready a day later. Our screen doors have been a problem since we moved in seven years ago. They constantly come off their tracks, and we lazily never did anything about it. Finally, we had had enough.
