Flavorful sauces with excellent entrees. The Das Schnitzel was amazing. Perfect portion and the choice of having two sauces was excellent. One was lemony and the other was mushroom cream. Delectable! The creamy pork tenderloin pasta was delicious! The pork was very tender and the sauce was not overwhelming. It had mushrooms and tomatoes but the flavors were not extreme. I definitely recommend this restaurant and these dishes. Parking and location are tricky to access if there is a lot of traffic.
Keep in mind that this is a small restaurant, parties greater than 6 will be hard to fit!!! For those that want a quick review: [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is some seriously good food here, I enjoyed my goulash and I felt the service and aesthetic was perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would say that they have good ratings for a reason For something more in depth: First off, let me say that Jerad had FANTASTIC service. We came in as a party of about 11 in a restaurant that really makes it hard for having more than six and he did a good job at taking care of both sides and keeping in touch with both sides of the booth. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As for the rest of it, I felt that Weller's had a really cute and aesthetic vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This seriously is one of the perfect spots for a date night with a significant other, the lighting and type of food gives you a unique experience to have.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food in of itself was great, I had a genuinely great time eating my goulash, it was a good mix of sour and sweet with some mushrooms and tomatoes in there as well. The serving size was quite large and I can see people not having enough room to finish the whole dish, the rest of the party seemed to enjoy their food as well and there was no major complaints from the crew. I will say that the only mark against them was the dessert, it was okay. We got a free dessert as it was a birthday celebration (once again kudos to the service) but even if it was free again I'd probably not go the route of getting it again. There was no real flavor that I enjoyed while having it, unlike the food that was all I could hope for. Although the rest of the table really seemed to enjoy the apple strudel and took it home to have later. To sum it all up, this place is highly rated for a reason and I would encourage anyone wanting to try German that this would be a great way to do so. 4.25/5
Stopped by Wellers for a business lunch and found it both charming and delicious. We started with the deviled eggs, which were a smart choice--slightly spicy, kissed with bacon, and lifted by a sharp kick of German mustard. Tasty and gone in seconds. For my entrée, I ordered the Hühnerfrikassee. Think of it as a deconstructed chicken pot pie: tender chunks of chicken with mushrooms, asparagus, and peas, all bathed in a rich, creamy gravy. In the center sat a giant scoop of dill-infused rice that tied it all together. It's definitely hearty fare for lunch, but absolutely worth it. Portions are generous, so either arrive hungry or plan to leave with leftovers. At our table, everyone was happy with their choices, and I have to say--the schnitzel looked especially stellar. Service was just as strong as the food. Our server, Amy, struck the perfect balance of friendly, attentive, and helpful without ever hovering. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This feels like the kind of place that would also make a great date spot... though after a few piles of meat, potatoes, and gravy, you may not feel your most romantic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unless, of course, comfort food is your love language--in which case, you'll be making out in the parking lot. All in all, an easy 5 stars for an excellent German dining experience.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]Drove by this cute little place and immediately cancelled our reservations elsewhere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only complaint was that we had to sit in the main dining area (because at 53, I didn't have my DL on me ) and couldn't even sit at the table for 2 in the bar area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was amazing! We shared a huge wedge salad that was full of toppings, I had the brisket dinner special and my husband the Snitzel with mushroom sauce. The warm red cabbage and warm applesauce was delicious, along with the mashed potatoes. We didn't care to much however for the spatzel. It had a grainy texture and was dry (even with the sauce). They bread pudding was delicious as well. It wasn't too big and dry. Very moist and yummy. We will definitely return when we are in the area. The service was great and the food came out quickly!
I figured it would be helpful to have a picture of the Red Snapper with potatoes and vegetables of the day. It's lemony and seasoned well. Service here is always great, they seat you as quickly as they can. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot in our little Layton Town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Weller's offers some good German fare. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not a huge place, but the place was pretty busy on a weeknight.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their bar area looks cool, and the dining room was darker but we could still see pretty well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our appetizers were yum - the Fried Cheese Curds was amazing. The buffalo dip was good, but I loved the fig dip! The Pretzel had a nice texture to it. Our entree selections: Hühnerfricasee (chicken) was served with dill pickle rice. Very tasty, thick and rich, the texture was reminiscent of chicken and dumplings. The pickle flavor in the rice was not overpowering. I liked it. Schnitzel - pork pieces poundes and fried to perfection and topped with mushroom gravy. Served with red cabbage and sliced, pan fried potatoes. Super delicious. Spaetzle - Noodles and gravy. What we expected, not special but still good. Creamy Pork Tenderloin Pasta - the pork pieces were very tender and the creamy sauce made it rich and savory. Sundried tomato bits added an umami finish. Only drawback was the food service was a bit slow. But we'd still recommend this place.
Everything exceeded my expectations. This was one of the best Reubens I've had- loved the kraut, it was balanced and not at all greasy, and the pastrami was absolutely perfect. And the roasted Brussels sprouts are in some kind of addictive sweet glaze- yum! It's a fairly small place with limited parking, but we easily found street parking very close. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was quick with water refills and menu details. I appreciated the classic rock/80s playlist, though it was a bit odd for a German restaurant haha. Would absolutely return.
So we really like Weller's and have made it a regular on our hit list. The food is so good and the presentation of the food is amazing. See pictures. I've ordered the special the last couple of times here and have not been disappointed yet. Wedge salad, I didn't try it, but it looked delicious. Pretzels and dip. 4/5 My wife ordered the Beef Rouladen, and thought it was really good, but I thought my smothered meatballs had more flavor. 4/5 Smothered Meatballs special was so delicious. 5/5 Das Schnitzel, we've had this before and it is a definite solid go to with really nice flavor. 4/5 And Apple strudel for dessert 5/5
The service was friendly. The chef came out to check our thoughts on the winter salad that was introduced yesterday. The candied pecans are obviously done in house and were wonderful. Not drenched in sugar. Fried goat cheese was a nice accompaniment to the salad! The Reuben sandwich was excellent! I am very fond of the deviled eggs too! Was craving German food, so happy this place is down the street from me. Pretty packed even for arriving for a later dinner, but the wait was only 15 min. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing service and atmosphere as usual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Started with the fried shrooms, the sauce is fire, so yummy!!! Then had a German mule cocktail, it was very fall inspired and refreshing. I ordered the Das Schnitzel and the pork was cooked to perfection. Hubby had a German beer, and huhnerfrikassee. Ended the evening sharing the Apple strudel and ice cream, and so glad we did.
FIVE SOLID STARS! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service, the food, the restaurant space itself.... an overall amazing experience made top notch by Jerad, my server.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was greeted nearly immediately upon entering and opted for outdoor seating since there wasn't a wait for that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although right by the street, it was charming and relatively quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Food was great but kinda cold when we received it. Flavors were also great. Customer service was good, but again food takes a while to get to the table. We waited about an hour to be seated. We had a party of 3. I would go back to try lunch or dinner. Hopefully food is warm upon arrival to table.

The exterior of the restaurant hides just how spacious and inviting it is inside. The decor reminded me of the famous "Katz Delicatessen" in NYC. After being seated, my wife and I were pleased to find many traditional German dishes on the menu. My wife had the Schnitzel while I had a Reuben Sandwich. Both dishes were a delight to the tastebuds but the real standout were the Honey Glazed Brussels sprouts we ordered on the side. I'm in no way a fan of the mini cabbages, or should I say... I wasn't until today... They were cooked so well that it proved difficult to share and a small debate ensued (the wife won of course). We capped off our dinner with all three desserts (because... why not???) and the Creme Brûlée reminded us of our first time trying the dish in Paris (yes, that Paris!). The apfelstrudel was to die for as was the cheesecake... definitely worth the extra exercise I'll need to do to burn it off... All in all, after spending four years stationed in Germany, I can safely say that Weller's Bistro is as good (and in many ways better) then any of the restaurants you'll find there. While visiting the Oktoberfest at Snow basin this place was recommended for true authentic German food. This place did not disappoint! Great food, service & atmosphere. The owner was super personable. We loved the Bee cake! read more

My boyfriend and I went to celebrate his birthday, and it did not disappoint. We had a little bit of a wait because they're responsibly practicing socially distancing, but it was well worth it. The food was incredible, the staff were very courteous, and the atmosphere was relaxing. My boyfriend got the panini special and I got the goulash. The goulash was a lovely rich, hearty meal that gave me my money's worth. The braised cabbage had a nice fruity acidity that complemented the stew and sparztle. The owner was so kind to come by and chat with us for a moment and graciously returned shortly after with a complimentary creme brûlée after finding out about my boyfriend's birthday. I would happily patron Weller's Bistro again and again. read more

I had no idea that Weller's Bistro served German food. I live up the street, and never considered going in. My wife and I were invited here for a business dinner, with some friends/colleagues. First off, the establishment is crazy small, so seating is very limited. If you're going to show up, get a reservation for sure. Upon seating, I looked over their beer/liquor list, and was VERY pleasantly surprised to find legit German beers on there. I haven't had some of these since my time overseas. I opted for the Köstritzer Schwarzbier Stout, which has a refreshingly light, coffee, slight chocolate taste, coming it at 4.8% ABV / 22 IBU. Their menu is filled with Artisan Pizzas, Soups/salads, Sandwiches, Brats, and many other delicious items. I opted for the special, which was the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu, Bratkartoffeln (roasted potatoes, onions and Speck (Bacon)) & Side Salad, which was only $24. The flavors were to die for, and the portions were perfect for the price. Our server was attentive, quick with our orders, and the chef even came out to chat with us. After everything, we all tried a slice of their German bee sting cake. Its got a crunchy top, honey/almond flavors, and a creamy center. It was a perfect end to the night. I will definitely be coming back for more. read more

Came here for lunch and it did not disappoint. Such a cute little place with all the essentials. Love their bar area, and dining hall with long booths. Perfect amount of natural light coming in from the big windows all around. Service was amazing and food was delicious with the perfect balance of flavors. We ordered the Margarita Pizza and Rueben Sandwich with a size of Brussels Sprouts and it was plate licking good. Can't wait to come back. read more

I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a way to review this place. I am very torn. Let me explain. I saw this place on Yelp while looking for new places to try. The photos of the food were so beautiful, and the reviews were terrific, so I was really excited to try it. The girls in my family do a "girls night"Christmas thing every year, so I thought this place would be perfect. The good: even though it looks like a little hole in the wall from the outside, and it is indeed a tiny restaurant on the inside, the smallness of it REALLY worked for the ambiance. It's beautifully designed on the inside.the booths were very comfy and intimate, lit candles on every table...it'd be perfect if you wanted a romantic space to go on a date. The noise level was non-existent, even though there were several full tables, we never overheard any other patrons' conversations. The service was impeccable. I think our server's name was Carolina, really pretty girl with a lovely attitude, and since none of us have much experience with this type of food, she was very helpful, and also got us a couple of samples of some of the sides so we could decide what we wanted. I thought that was really cool. She went way above for us. That being said, the food was very hit or miss. First, we ordered Bloody Marys and they were almost all ice. There were about three sips and that was it. They tasted good, but they were a total waste of money. After that, we got our appetizers. A pretzel with mustard and "beer cheese", and hummus. The hummus plate was AWESOME. Probably my favorite thing all night, and I'm not normally a hummus person. The pretzel, on the other hand...I don't know what happened there. It was WAY overbaked and it was SUPER dark and very hard to bite through. (It looked nothing like the beautiful golden brown ones other Yelpers have posted.) The mustard was very good and spicy, but the "beer cheese" was the weirdest, most off-putting thing I've ever seen. It was ice cold, and chunky, like the texture of cottage cheese. There was zero beer flavor in it, and it was so thick it wouldn't stick to the pretzel at all. That was probably the most disappointing thing, because I love some warm, gooey beer cheese with a nice soft pretzel, and I don't know if this is how they do it in Germany, but it's definitely not for me. Our entrees: two of us got the jaegerschnitzel, and sis got the Chicken Fricassee. She also got a side of spetzle with a mushroom gravy, and that was my second favorite thing of the night. We all shared bites of everything so we could try it all. I'd never had schnitzel before, and the "jaeger" part of it was because they added mushroom gravy on top. It generally comes with a red cabbage slaw and some speck and onion potatoes, but after tasting the red cabbage, I swapped it out for Brussels sprouts. Not because there was anything wrong with the cabbage, it was actually pretty surprising...it had apple in it, so I kind of expected it to be sweeter, and instead it was quite savory, and even though I did like it, a little went a long way. So, the schnitzel was moderately good...the main issue was that it was super tough. And we only had butter knives to cut through it. It tasted pretty good after a bit of salt and pepper, but was kind of bland before it, even with the mushroom gravy. (The gravy was another standout, btw.) The potatoes were good, but again, under seasoned. The Brussels sprouts were just not my taste at all. I know charring the crap out of them while barely cooking them at all is all the rage right now, but I like Brussels sprouts to at least be tender, even if I have to peel off the charred parts. I tried my sister's Chicken fricasee, and it had a sweetness that wasn't pleasant to me. Mom and sis didn't read it the same way though, and quite liked it. The biggest issue, though, came with the desserts. I got the creme brûlée, and except for the fact that the brûlée was more burnt than brûlée'd, it was good. But the Apple streudels that my mom and sister ordered were almost inedible...the interior was really good, but the outside was completely burned. Impossible to cut through, so it all got left behind. Whoever the chef was tonight was either not paying attention to cook times or thinks that burned food is pleasant. Grandma loved her potato and leek soup though. So you can see how conflicted I am about this place. Some good some bad. But I have to say, because of the service and the ambiance, I will give this place a second chance. Especially because of the sign they had posted on their restroom door, which is the only thing I took a picture of, because there are already so many pics of the food that a few more would have been redundant. read more

Excellent food, excellent staff, and once again excellent food! As a recent transplant to Utah and huge fan of German food being German myself I was looking for some new restaurants and some good authentic eats. A friend of mine recommended I try it out and I was not disappointed! The staff was great, very attentive and very friendly. The schnitzel was the best I've had since the last time I was in Germany, the spatzle and bratkartoffeln were amazing as well. My wife had the rouladen with the German potato salad and rotkohl which was all fantastic as well. I highly recommend stopping in and having some delicious food. I will definitely be back as much as my wife will let me haha. read more

This place is good. Authentic German food (actually the food was better than the last time I went to Heidelberg), with some American options as well. I ordered the goulash with potato and leek soup. Soup was amazing and my entree was awesome as well. Definitely will be coming back to try the schnitzel and Rueben. read more

What a great restaurant. Everything was delicious. We went in the afternoon which turned out great as the last time we tried to go here was a Friday at 6:30 pm and it was packed then.
