This place gave me a mixed feeling. They know a lot about their cars and the agent was well informed about the features comparisons , and recommendations. However, its one of those places where they would go any way to earn business, which is not necessarily a bad thing but these people push it too far, get frustrated and exert a lot of pressure on their customers. Not only do they lack the right sentiment to make a customer happy, they can be rude and disrespectful if they think they are losing business. The prices and quotes that they gave me were a lot higher than I received from other Mazda counterparts. Its important that you do your research well before going to this place if at all, since they only intend to make profits even and don't give a bit about customer's preferences. My wife and I recently purchased a new CX-5 from Wellesley Mazda. In all, we had a very good experience, and I'd recommend the dealership to others. Pros: Craig, our sales person, was great. He was knowledgeable and did not tire of our questions. He was not pushy. He gets 5 of 5 stars. Most of the rest of the purchase process was very good; financing was quick and easy, and no issues with the registration/pick up. Cons: Over the five or so hours we spent over 2 nights test driving and reviewing options, we really only had 15 minutes of the classic "car shopping pressure/discomfort" that I was dreading. They happened to be the only 15 minutes that we were face to face with a sales manager. Even though we told him we were very close to purchasing a car, he did not want to begin to talk prices until we guaranteed him that we were ready to buy. After a few uncomfortable minutes, he loosened a bit and we moved forward. Overall, we felt that we had a good experience and we got a fair deal. I recently shopped for a used car at Wellesley Mazda. All was fine until they did not Do the paperwork with my insurance company and then blamed my insurance company. Given how they spoke to me - rude and disrespectful... Including the manager hanging up on me- I did not purchase the vehicle. Now they refuse to refund my deposit. All they can say is. " in MA we are not required to refund a deposit.". Yet, the agreement I signed stated that if I did not complete the purchase the dealer will refund the deposit, less expenses. And if expenses are less than the deposit, the difference will be refunded ASAP. The manager requested I stop emailing him and asking him, what expenses or losses he incurred. I am not new to purchasing a car however I am new to deceptive sales tactics used at the last minute in order to force me to buy a vehicle. If I wasn't an educated buyer, I could have been tricked into a bad deal with Wellesley Mazda. This dealership agreed with me on a price for a new Mazda and a price for my trade in. After making me wait for 3 hours to meet with the business manager, my sales rep then informed me that I was not eligible for the incentive financing offered by Mazda. During this three hour time frame, they took my deposit, they switched the plates from my old car to the new one, they even had the customer service manager meet with me. Yet, at the last minute, they leveraged a pressure style sales tactic to force me into a purchase. The GM didn't want to create a win-win situation and let me walk. I am surprised this dealership has any positive ratings based on my experience. I will be sharing my feedback with others in my network who are considering purchasing a Mazda. Best advice I can give someone who is working with this dealer is to skip the sales rep and manager and speak with the business manager early. Save yourself the hassle and get everything in writing up front. read more

NO, NO, NOOOO. Never do business with these guys. You can read the horror stories below--ours would simple be reiteration. But here goes: Greg, in particular, was: surly, condescending, confrontational; evincing not a modicum of interest, sensitivity, empathy or concern. To set the scene, we made an appointment 2 days before and that morning an email arrived with Greg's name on it saying he looked forward to showing us a car. Cool--a classy entree. When we arrived, Greg was "busy" so a salesman showed us a car. Fine, no biggie. we test drove and the salesman who was relatively new was a bit stiff, but just fine for helping us gain a feel for the car and exploring alternatives. Time to negotiate price and terms. We have to endure an entirely unnecessary flip card "presentation" which, bottom line, serves to extol the business's 29 awards for customer service and this and that about how loyal they are to the consumer and how they work for the betterment of mankind, solve lung cancer, etc. Whatever. My view is: don't give me the spiel, show me you are earnest by your actions. So, suitably softened up, Greg gets his chance. Walking up to the table after 90 minutes of prologue, his first comment is: "so I hear you aren't serious about buying." Say what? That is not what we told the salesman. Beyond that, it's a lot of attitude for a guy who hasn't even offered to shake hands, ask for a name and a how ya doin', or, better yet, a sit down to create a more relaxed mood. To remain standing--looming--was atavistic, confrontational -- and wholly inappropriate for the occasion. So, of course, having been braced like that I feel the fact that he doesn't even mention the earlier email and our appointment is fair game. Greg immediately disavows any knowledge of the mail and then turns on his salesman saying: "did YOU come look for me? Where was I--what was I doing?" defensive toward me, aggressive toward his salesman. Not a good impression, Greg. But you know, does it really matter? Here we were, let's talk. But, no, Greg decides that we are only worth his time if we are serious buyers. "Are you seriously considering buying a car today?" he challenges us. Well, that depends on the price. So, we get to that. Very quickly Greg is treating us like idiots by lecturing us about "the basic economic realities of business." This is enlightening Greg, please explain. In Greg's words: "if I'm selling shirts that I know I can get for 15 dollars a shirt, that's the price I'll sell them unless you happen to be a friend of my cousin, in which case, I might sell you the shirt for $11.95." That's simply how it is, Greg explains. This revelation all because after he had quoted us one price for the CX-5, we show him the quote we had received earlier in the day from TrueCar (online). Defensive, having been caught in his disingenuousness, Greg proceeds to insult the customer's intelligence. (Like: perish the thought that a consumer would show up having done prep work or research as push back against your pressure tactics). Our experience at Wellesley Mazda only devolved from there. It would have been jettisoned to the junk heap of wasted Sunday afternoons had it not been for what came next. Consumer's Reports has an association with this dealer and offers a gift card for completing a survey. So, in the course of answering questions from CU, our experience with Greg came up. We didn't mention names (or even titles), though, naturally, we shared about our experience. Guess what: the next day we receive a cold call from Greg with the sole aim of berating me "personally" for my "insensitivity". Say what? Because I happened to tell the truth? Well, apparently his feelings were hurt (I guess CU contacted him -- or more likely, his boss who then contacted him -- with the review). And, rather than taking the opportunity to reflect on his own behavior--perhaps adjusting his approach with the public, and/or (heaven forbid!) apologizing--Greg hankered to have the last word. So, very mature of him. To do so, he had to cull my phone number from their intake form (Question: isn't that information privileged and isn't use of it for any purpose other than to further a sale forbidden?) Greg then called me unbidden, and in a 20 second diatribe he blistered: "you've had your say, now it's my turn." He then cut me off from dialoguing with him and curtly informed me "we don't want your business, so don't think about buying a car from us." He promptly disconnected. Okay, Greg. Check. You can have your wish. No business from us. And I would advise others to follow suit until this particular manager has been relocated, reassigned or, at the very least, reeducated about proper business comportment. read more

Recently bought a mazda3 here and had a good experience. I'd been to two other mazda dealerships in the area so I knew exactly what I wanted. Wellesleymazda's site had the car in inventory, I made an online inquiry and was contacted within hours. I went the next day and the deal was done fast, I was extremely direct and they respected that, didn't try to talk me up. Worked with Joaquin in sales and he was great. My only reason for giving it 4 not 5 stars is that when I came back to have the 3m bumper coating I'd purchased installed it took 90 min longer than I was told it would. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE. Two words, that many companies seem to forget these days. To me the experience of buying is just as important as the final price. I'm happy to pay a bit more to deal with people I like and trust. But at Wellesley Mazda I found both. Salespeople that were knowledgable, not pushy, and just nice people. Not to mention the best price I was able to find. They understand that buying a car IS A BIG DEAL, and it's not something you try to pressure someone into. I dealt with Michaela and Krystal when I was checking out the CX-9 and they were AWESOME! When I went on a test drive they didn't try to take me on some preplanned 2 minute route. And when I brought my wife in for a test drive, they just gave us the car and said "have fun!" They never tried to sell me off of another Makers product. They simply said "take those other cars for a drive and let us know what you think". Long story short - we purchased our 2018 CX-9 and absolutely LOVE IT. And it was the most enjoyable car buying experience I've had to date. I will be back when my lease is up. read more

Awful. This place is literally the worst. The first salesman I dealt with was great and after that it was just a disappointing, frustrating, rude, terrible place. To sum things up: - Waited 7 hours to get my car (7!!!!) even though I had an appointment to pick it up. - General Manager was unbelievably rude when confirming my lease options (literally made "stupid" sounds when mimicking my questions - are we 5?). He kept telling me to suck it up since he was doing me a favor for my trade in because my car wasn't worth it. I'm sorry, but you knew the car before you gave me the trade-in amount, so that was your choice. And the trade in value was still less than 2 other dealerships gave me. - Ended up getting the wrong car - the salesman who help me sign the lease told me it had specifics that it didn't. - Went back 6 days later and got a different car (apparently they don't make a car with the specifics I was asking- stick shift and touch screen audio system). To be clear I would've been fine with the first car had the payments agreed upon reflected the $1,400 less MSRP. But the dealership wanted "2 sales" so I got the upgraded automatic car since they would only give me $400 back if I stayed with the original. - Had to call 3 times to have them register it - causing a delay in my insurance. - Spent 14 phone calls and 1 month trying to make sure I didn't pay property tax on two cars (the mistake and the one I currently have). They never told the lease department that I shouldn't pay a full year of taxes on both cars since it was their mistake and I got rid of the original car after only 6 days. This place doesn't return phone calls, and makes it clear that once they sale is done, it's your problem. I wish so much that I could get out of this early without losing money. Until then, I just pray they don't cause me more issues (doubtful). read more

My sales person was Krystal M. She was knowledgable and a pleasure to work with. No pressure, not pushy, no big obnoxious sales pitch... just pleasant and more importantly good knowledge of the vehicle I was hoping to buy! The woman that helped us (I think Alex) was nice enough and knowledgeable but, after a lecture about the sales staff being salaried to create no pressure, the manager swooped in and turned up the heat. We didn't want to buy the first car we saw on our first visit to a dealer; especially since it wasn't our preferred color and above Kelley Blue Book. We had a deal in mind but they pull the "best price first" baloney. They didn't budge. to top it all off the manager (Greg I believe) said " I thought we could make a deal tonight. I guess you misspoke" and would have stormed away without shaking my hand if I had not pursued him to thank him for his time. She stayed later than her work hours and was so helpful and patient! Not once did she make us feel like we were keeping her late or rushed us through the process. After the test drive Krystal went above and beyond her duties and provided my children with goldfish snacks, truly kind of her to do this! Since we were the last customers of the day we also worked with Greg F. He answered all my questions regarding the car and available reports i.e. carfax etc. The day when we completed the purchase transaction Krystal was on vacation but she recommended that we speak to Alex (Allie) who was also extremely helpful and guided us through the final steps of the purchase. A helpful note for people trying to get started buying or selling a Mazda: Wellesley seems challenging on both sides of the deal (buying and selling). Let's start with my experience selling my used Mazda to them. I scheduled an appointment for 10am on a Saturday. The used sales manager that had to do the appraisal (I believe his name was Greg) didn't show up until 10:20. I have better things to do with my time than wait for Greg. After checking it out and offering a litany of excuses for what was "wrong" with my car he offered BY FAR the lowest offer of any of the five dealers I spoke with. To be specific, his offer was $2100 less than what I eventually sold my car for. Let's dig into that. Dealers, by definition, have to pay less for a car than thy sell it for to make a profit. Plus they have to cover expenses such as reconditioning, sale commissions, overhead, etc. or they can just take it to an auction and sell it as-us. I scouted the auctions, and figured they could easily sell it at auction for around $1400 more than they offered. It costs $200-300 to sell the vehicle at auction, so they wanted to make more than a thousand dollars profit for essentially no work. Life is too short to deal with car dealers that make money by hoping that people make a dumb decision and don't shop around. Of course, the twenty minutes of waiting provided plenty of time to observe people in the process of buying vehicles. Now, I didn't actually purchase a vehicle here, so read some other reviews, but let me share what I observed. A couple spent a long time talking to a younger sales guy. He was walking through every possible preference they could have, talking prices and pushing financing. The couple was getting quite irritated that they couldn't just go look at and test drive some of the vehicles on the lot (they were trying to decide between new and used with "low, low miles" as the woman said.) eventually, after the sales guy was walking through financing possibilities (he was clearly fishing for what they could possibly spend, as he asked for monthly payment and term), the guy spoke up ad said they wanted to see vehicles now and they could talk financing after they picked a car out. Moral of the story: instead of helping the buyers find a vehicle they wanted, HOW they wanted to shop, he was forcing them to shop on his terms. How annoying. I almost said something to them, namely that if you don't like how you are being treated, you should go elsewhere. Conclusion: you might have a good experience here, but in the two transactions I saw, it was more likely to be a big waste of your time. read more

They are supposed to close at 8 pm; we left a voicemail around 7, but that wasn't returned. We called again at 745 and nobody would answer. I just bought a car from this dealership and the only reason they have a star at all is because their prices are very competitive, which is what got me in the door and then the salesman was great at first. Then as soon as a deal was agreed upon everything changed!!!! I have never dealt with a dealership that is so unorganized! The people simply do not talk to each other. They say they will call you back and don't, one person says (on Thursday) that the car will be ready for pick up on Tuesday and then 3 hours later another employee says its "all set" come in in saturday just to find out it is not "all set" and you waste your morning for nothing. Then after buying a car 3 weeks ago from Milford Nissan and having a great experience this dealership try's to tell me that there is no way they inspected the car for me....not only did they, but so did the last 4 dealerships that I have dealt with and possibly more but I can't remember further back. Not an offer to bring it back and they will get it done or, as happened when I bought a Nissan Rogue about 5 years ago, the dealership cut us a check for the cost....BUT NOPE not at Wellesley Mazda...not only do they not do that but they basically call you a liar for saying other dealerships do it.... I'm pretty sure had I not already signed the paperwork they never would have spoken to me the way they did. Well I may not be able to get out of this deal, and don't get me wrong I love the car and price, but I can promise unless they give away free cars I won't be going back! Especially when I flat out they'll the salesman that "this is what people think of when deciding where to get their next car" the salesman response was "oh well, ok"...really!?!?!? this place has really been one nightmare after another. after every incident i decided that i would leave a review but didn't because i said to myself that perhaps it was just a bad day. however after continually being disappointed and taking todays incident into consideration i decided to WARN everyone. The other review was right. They will do and say whatever they can to sell you a car and then you are NOT their problem. All those bonuses like free oil changes, towing, shuttle is a bunch of BS. I took my car in today for the second oil change and was told that it was going to cost $80 even though they stressed to me that i have free oil changes for the life of the car. Then the service guy said to me that it's actually every other. Last time i needed a tow because 5 months after i got the car it was smoking and i decided not drive it to the dealer they told me they didn't have any tow available and i ended up having to call triple A and pay $40 to have my car towed there. and please don't get me started on the sales experience. I felt like as soon as my deposit was given and papers were signed I was a big NOBODY I am debating writing a letter to the owner but if his customer service skills are anything like his staffs then it's probably pointless and will only lead to me being more aggravated by the whole thing. I will just have to find every online service available to steer people OUT of their direction. the only good thing out of this is that Mazda makes a nice car. Surely, there must be somewhere else to buy this car and if you really want to do yourself a favor-GO FIND THE OTHER PLACE. All the mazda dealerships can't possibly run like this one. read more

I recently went into Wellesley Mazda checking out the Mazda as an alternative to a Subaru or Hyundai .Met a personable salesperson who seemed nice and recommended the Mazda5 .I was doing research for my daughter who needed a new car .After test driving a few cars my daughter decided on the Mazda5.I called the salesman leaving a voicemail telling him to call me ,that was 9am .Around noon he called me I was on the phone,I called him back 30 secs after his call again his voicemail.He had said he was in his office till 6pm .Well 4 days later He called, at this point I was annoyed and had bought the car he recommended from another dealer .He was annoyed that I was lecturing him since he was a senior and didn't need that or so he said.Well I was in sales for over 23 years and always returned calls quickly never more than an hour later at best.The moral of the story is your dealer experience will only be as good as the people representing you . Therefore I have no confidence in this dealership ,and my opinion was butressed by my conversation with the sales manager today who really didn't want to hear it .I'm so glad I avoided what looked like might be a stressful negotiating session ,wound up buying a Mazda5 at Mazda Gallery Norwood were they really know how to treat customers. My husband and I have been long term customers of this dealership and their sister Nissan dealership in Framingham that closed last year, which is why I am so shocked by how I was treated by a salesperson by the name of Kyle. I decided that I'd send an email to Wellesley Mazda so they could know that this salesperson was less than helpful. I didn't go into detail, in the message but asked that someone please call me to discuss. That evening I had a message from the internet manager and was glad that Wellesley Mazda cared enough to have someone follow up. I returned his call the next morning and left him a voicemail. My voicemail was detailed, describing the issue I had and my wish to purchase a new vehicle. That was over a week ago now and I have never heard back after leaving my message. Clearly customer service is no longer a focus at Wellesley Mazda. After buying 4 vehicles from them and their sister dealership, it's time to move on to someone who cares about getting my business. Went there to check out the Mazda 3. Liked the reviews and the looks but I wanted to be inside one and check it out. They didn't have a hatchback unlocked but I was invited to check out the sedan in the showroom. Ok. I wanted to see the trunk but this was not possible because the car had been in the showroom too long. Ok. May I please have some material? They had none. Huh? No material? Last Saturday, after test drives at 2 other dealerships, I decided to purchase the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. My husband and I had a great experience at Wellesley Mazda. Our sales consultant, Bill Iannelli, was amazing to work with. We had a 2pm appointment, but we showed up an hour early and Bill helped us right away. He was super nice and easy going, and he never kept us waiting. He was not pushy at all. Bill is by far the best sales person I have ever dealt with. I couldn't keep a smile off my face for the rest of the day, because the experience was so exciting and smooth. I do not recommend this place. I feel like they will say whatever they have to to get you to buy a car. They have "incentives" that are not truly incentives. For example, I implored my husband to buy our car from Wellesley Mazda because I work nearby and since they have a "free shuttle service" it would be easy and convenient to get our car serviced. The first time I went for an oil change, I made an appt. and decided to wait... It took an hour. I thought...for an oil change? Really? With an appointment? So then this time, I figured I would call and try to use the "convenient shuttle service" that the sales associate told us about as a selling point. When I call to utilize the service, I am informed that, they have a shuttle, and it can give me a ride, if I can wait a while. Well, I wondered if I wanted to wait, why wouldn't I just wait for my car to be done with the oil change. Then the man told me that although the "shuttle service" could eventually drop me off at work, it doesn't do pick ups. Seriously, how convenient is that? The location and convenience is one of the reasons we purchased our car from Wellesley Mazda and they made it sound so simple when we were considering purchasing the car. Now I come to find out that it is an employee that is "sometimes" available to give customers a ride locally. If you can avoid this place- "The new car smell will fade quickly with this dealership." This dealership would not allow me to test drive a vehicle. To be treated like this was unprofessional and from a family owned dealership I expected more. I walked in and was given the dealership speech, i was told they wanted me to sit down and fill out a worksheet and they would put in the "right" vehicle. I told them very nicely that I just wanted to test drive a Mazda CX7 and didn't want to fill out paperwork at this time. The man walked into an office, talked to a manager, and came over and told me that he could let me "sit" in a car, but that I could not drive it. Horrifying, really? I left of course and knew that even if they had what I wanted there, I would never buy a vehicle from that dealership. I bought a previous Mazda 5 years ago and have never been treated so rudely.. Would never recommend this dealership, trust me go elsewhere. read more

Is there such a thing as honest mechanic? Rhetorical question indeed. Wellesley Mazda is no exception. My car developed a weird mechanical noise which helpful people at WM identified as tire related and offered to get me a new set of tires for a mere 800 dollars. Needless to the say the very same set I was able to get for almost 50 percent less. Their diagnosis was wrong but they tried to charge me 100 for "diagnostics" which they gracefully lowered to 50. Talk about managing expectations! I have always known that bringing my car to the dealership for service should only be done if there is some extra money burning the pocket. They only reason it is 2 stars is a free wi-fi in the waiting area. read more

Went in to this dealership today to look at a new and a used Miata. Not sure which one I liked better I asked to look at both. The sales rep acted as though it was an inconvience and even said why do you need to test drive the used one it drives the exact same as the new one. The model had a redesign this year so the engine,transmission,wheelbase,chassis and many other components are different. When we finally decided on a brand new one, before we even talked number the sales rep tried to get us to sign saying that if we agreed on a price we would immediately buy the vehicle. I politely refused to sign any paper work until we had spoke numbers. Sales rep was not happy stating that I wouldn't be able to get as aggressive a number, I politely declined stating I shouldn't have to sign until we knew exactly what we were planing on doing. Ultimately this dealership came in $100 over what I wanted to pay (which I was more than willing to pay). We told sales rep we would go to lunch and come back and let him know. He said wait I already told the Salem store to deliver the color you said you liked best, at no point did we say we were ready to purchase, and also had not decided which color we wanted. We left this terrible dealership and went to another dealer and finalized a deal! read more
