I worked hand and hand with him in buying the parts that were needed and I wasn't able to, his answer was always "No problem I can get it". Furthermore, he is extremely well connected, and knows good repair shops and other specialists and so far, all his recommendations have been stellar. Welltech needed my car for 3 days to complete the work so I got a brand new 2022 Camry as a rental in the interim. I thought it was my tires but found out that my wheel bearing was broken and also need a new wheel hub. They quoted 1 hour of labor for $95, and parts that added up to $160. Of course I called around and other places (that I thought were fair) quoted 2 hours of labor for $85, and same amount of labor $160. This place was quoting ONE hr of labor, why the 2 from other places? Eh, the bear tire guys were right! They don't try to cheat you. I will be coming back for my mechanic needs. Quick and excellent service! I got a smog check here for only $35, which is a steal compared to all of the other places I checked. It is also one of the few places I found with high ratings on Yelp that is also open on the weekends. Welltech Auto Service is located near the UTC area, just down Miramar, which is convenient for me because I leave close to UCSD. I called ahead of time on a Saturday morning to see if I needed to make an appointment before bringing my car in. The man on the phone told me that they accept walk-ins. I had my 60k maintenance and some replacement & repair work done here a while ago. I had a side mirror replaced, which they had to paint, but they missed a few spots on the mirror and they refused to fill them in when I pointed it out. Also I had asked for my bumper to be repainted, they only painted one side. Lastly, I had them replace my brakes but they must have not done it very well because they squeaked loudly afterwards. I was pretty upset with the quality of work that was done on my car. I would never go back here. This place has a high rating mostly because of the cheap smog checks... if you want any other substantial service done, find a different place. read more

***Super Legit Auto Shop!!!*** David is the man! I've been taking my 2005 Passat to him for about 3 years now. They give you what you need with fairly-priced labor and parts, and they don't try to upsell you on stuff you don't need. Welltech is ALWAYS cheaper than the dealer and these guys know what they're doing when it comes to just about any make of car. They'll do a diagnostic and call you to go over what you need at the minimum, what you could stand to fix on top of the minimum if you choose, on-point estimates for labor and killer prices on parts. They won't make a move til they have your approval on every last item on the estimate. Oh, and free advice on how to maintain your ride once you've put some milage on it :) They're friendly, honest, fair, and given the complexity of your repairs can usually have your car back to you same-day. There is a lot I don't like about San Diego, but places like Welltech make me want to stay here. It is rare to find a mechanic that is either honest or skillful, but the guys at Welltech are both! I've been coming here for several years, and these guys consistently try to save me money in any way they can... I recently had a fuel pump start to go bad on my 2003 Saturn, and the diagnostics at first made it seem like the transmission might be dying. Smog check for $35!!! If you know Miramar, you know there's about a million little auto repair shops to choose from. I went to Welltech after reading they're Yelp reviews and wasn't disappointed. I ended up getting my car's oil changed and smogged for less than $55. They're fast too. All in all, out in less than an hour. Others were getting other repair work done and seemed happy. The work was mediocre, I came in for a brake inspection, with a predisposition that my brake caliper was not installed correctly. Well unfortunately I told them that information and I am doubtful on whether a full brake inspection truly occurred. I was quoted 90$ for the repairs (which was a "faulty caliper" that apparently could not simply be reinstalled) but when i walked in he told me it was 210$, a shock to me. Not that the price was high, but that it was not agreed upon earlier. Apparently on the phone he quoted me the price for the part, and not the labor. I was also rushed to pay with no one bothering to give me a solid explanation of the damage, nor was I shown the removed caliper that was supposedly too damaged to just be put back on, which is all that it needed. Very shady. I left the shop and while my caliper was no longer clicking and rattling, my brakes where just as squeaky as before, how was this not caught during the free break inspection? Maybe because it was free? Regardless my experience with this mechanic was not ideal, although my car was only in the shop for a couple hours which was fast and appreciated. read more

I received a friendly letter from the DMV informing me that my license renewal was late (as usual). I had to find a garage which could smog my car at a reasonable rate. I drove over to this garage which was formerly called Bruce Lee Automotive on Miramar Road. I have taken my cars there over the years and Bruce always treated me very well. Coincidently, Bruce Lee the mechanic did in fact resemble Bruce Lee, June Kune Do Master. Well I found out Bruce Lee Automotive was bought out by Welltech. However, the service here is solid. I didn't even have an appointment and I got my car smogged, and the oil and oil filter changed all under an hour at a reasonable rate. The total cost was $59. They even sent my smog info electronically to the DMV and the price inluded the certificate. So if your car needs work or needs a smog check, check out Welltech on Miramar Road and save yourself money, time, and gas. There are also a couple of places to eat within a short walk. read more

He said he wants to charge me for the labor when they are the ones that broke my rim by pushing it. This guy also threatened to roll my car out to the street. This guy David is horrible. I went there because I saw another good yelp review by Lisa W, cuz my car also has noise coming from the back. I went there at 8:10am, and the guy told me they would charged me $45 for inspection, and if later I agree to fix the problem they found, then inspection fee would be waived. So one other person took my car and take a test drive, found out there is a problem with one of the rear wheel hub. Quoted me labor $175, parts $287, I didn't give a second thought and agree due to that I want to save my inspection fee and get the problem fix quickly... He told me it would took about 3 hrs. So I have nothing to do and cant go anywhere, so I hang around, and checking how they are fixing my car. Took them about 0.5 hr to take off my wheel and old hub, then it came the long wait for the parts they ordered else where. a little more than 3 hrs later the parts come at around 12:30pm ish, right away, one other mechanic replaced my hub, it took him 20-30 mins at most. When he paid the deliver guy for the parts, I saw the check he wrote for the deliver guy was something like $245 ish. So when I paid, I ask him how many hours of total labor is accounted for 175? It took him awhile to punch some numbers and looking at the computer, he told me 2.3 hrs, which I think is not reasonable since I was there and my car was just hanging there while waiting for the parts, which took them less than 30 mins to reassemble with the new hub, so just about 1 hr of total labor they really did...I ended up paying total $488 ish. While I was waiting...bore...I made a few calls to other place to check if the price is reasonable. Toyota dealer: labor 1.5 hr , parts = $300 mechanic in convoy: labor 1.5 hr, parts = $240 ish another mechanic: labor 1.5hr , parts = $240 ish. The good thing: My car is now fixed without noise=] Bad: waited for a little more than 4 hrs in there....== Not being charged fairly with actual labor done and actual cost of parts Lesson learned: always make couple of phone calls and quotes before you go and repair your car, so you know what is the fair market price. read more

He still did my smog check, after the result came out, every things were pass except the engine light fail. I asked the smog check technician, you knew my car fail cause by the engine light why did you still do the test, I felt is shop dishonest to the customer, they knew the engine light on would fail the test. I brought my car in to replace the clutch and walked out with an even better clutch then i had before.
