Came here early and I was the first customer of the day. Visited the hospital nearby with the family and was in the area so we decided to grab a quick meal. I ordered a burger meal and fries were good. But the problem here is after arriving home and preparing to eat my lunch I see that my apple pecan salad was going bad. Just look at the pictures and see for yourselves. I was the first customer of the day, right at 10am there should be no reason I'm getting a bad smell rotting salad. Apples were also rotting and the chicken looked nasty. Dont have that kind of time and energy to drive back and get my refund. This is a first in my life. Stopped in to this Wendy's this afternoon for a quick meal and it was far from quick! In fact it took about 10 minutes to get my food! To top if off, the lady messed up my order. After I got in my car, I noticed that my burger look really small so I had to go back in to exchange it for the correct burger. The food here is average although what's really outstanding is the customer service. The register operators are pretty courteous and their prices are pretty decent. It seems as tho this Wendy's always has some issue plus having a line that goes so slow sometimes it's unbearable. All I wanted was a pineapple mango lemonade. Easy, the line is out the driveway and into the street. Okay- doable. The person in front of me clearly had some issue too - they took a long time after the food had been delivered and threw their hands up at the window attendant...... I get up to the window she ignores me after she says total.... just holding my hand out in the rain, and then obviously could not run my card correctly.... she said it was error -- I'm looking at my bank app in real time... it has plenty of money. I said please run it again.... she rolls her eyes -- maybe reruns it--- and just goes nope ... declined, give me back the drink.... and yanks it... I call the bank to check statement.... yeah... like I thought. Everything's fine on our end.... Do not go this Wendy's if you want any customer service!!!!!!! If you have any problems with your window rolling down in your vehicle. I went there 5 minutes after 10 p.m. ( they close the dining area at 10 p.m.!!!) and tried to order inside the dining room because it is hard for me to go to the drive-thru, because my driver side window no longer rolls down. I admit it I drive a piece of shit!!! I've been going here for years. Ever since my teen years. I never wrote a review cause, I mean..it's a Wendy's. The service hasn't been exceptionally bad. But...this is what happened. Friday night, I came here and ordered a meal. A spicy chicken sandwich meal with fries. Come 1 am, my stomach wakes me up cause I was in a lot of pain. I asked my boyfriend to please get me some tums. I took some and burped out some acidic gas. Then...it finally hits me, I get up, not knowing which end would have something come out of. I had massive diarrhea and I thought, ok, that should be the end of it. I got back into my room and sat for a bit. But wait..THERE'S MORE! I pushed my boyfriend out of the way, ran back into the bathroom and heaved out that spicy chicken sandwich. And oh man did it burn...spicy and vomit...there goes my esophagus. Definitely an unpleasant experience and def. learned my lesson to not get fast food anymore. After my episode, I laid in bed with my tummy still aching. The next day, my boyfriend's stomach starts hurting. Although he wasn't as extreme as me, he still had acidic gas after taking the tums. We didnt' eat anything else after the Wendy's. read more

Very rude people, they do not take the order right and when you go back and ask why? They make fun of you and tell you we did not understand your accent, very pour service specially the drive through window, not recommended, they are other fast food places near by there that you can get quality food with perfect service, the Philipino lady with red shirt who covers her name tag and claims to be manager is very rude not to mention the window staff. It's 10:30 pm and I'm picking up food on the way back home from work. Usually the staff at Wendy's are friendly and helpful so I noticed the tired, "I don't want to be here" attitude that was exuding from the drive-thru employee. But it's fine, I'm just picking up food, not to get a pep talk, so I promptly leave her to take care of the cars behind me. Then it hit me: she never asked me what kind of sauce I wanted for my nuggets. So I parked and dug through my bag. No sweet and sour, no BBQ, no honey mustard. No problem, I thought, I'll just go ask for one. Before I go on, I've been patronizing this particular Wendy's for years. I lived half my life in Castro Valley on Stanton Ave and two of my friends had worked at this Wendy's in High School. I know their policies more than I should. The drive-thru is packed by now and I need to get going. I notice an employee sitting around talking to another employee. I knock on the door in hopes that maybe one can come up and at least ask what I need. Both look at me then look away. I knock again and try to signal my need for my sweet and sour sauce. They stare at me. By this point I'm playing charades with them. I mean, is it really that hard for them to come up to the door? They didn't even have to open it, just close enough so that they can hear me yell "I NEED MY SAUCE". They make a shrugging motion. After about a minute, the manager pokes her head out from the counter. I'm thinking, "Finally, actual help." Nope, she makes the same, shoulders-up-head-down-hands-up shrugging motion as the employees. How helpful. I work in the thankless service industry, too. I know how it can be. However, it doesn't take much to tell me "sorry, we can help you because we are closed" in person. Instead I stand around helpless with the employees refusing to acknowledge me in a dignified way. THEY ONLY PLAY "KIDZ BOP" OVER THE SPEAKERS. The actual food/service is pretty decent, you should be fine if you do drive thru, but they've been playing nothing but "Kidz Bop" on the radio for almost 3 years now which makes the indoor seating area unacceptable. It would've been bad enough if they had regular vapid pop songs playing; having high-pitched 14 year olds singing every single song is unbearable. Their cod fish is great for fish fridays and their chili is good everytime I get it. I've had it at other wendy's where it's to bland or too salty. I ordered a double cheeseburger, fries, chicken nuggets, and a medium sprite at this contaminated fast food dump from hell before 12:00 pm today! Unfortunately, I returned to Wendy's for a 2nd time because my double cheeseburger was gross and it had a weird taste! My double cheeseburger was replaced with a junior bacon cheeseburger and I received a replacement order of fries as well as chicken nuggets. I knew something was wrong with my food when an older female (Filipino) employee gave me my food! She had a sneaky smirk on her face and when I inspected my food, the junior bacon cheeseburger did not look fresh, the fries didn't taste fresh, and the chicken nuggets were cold. when I took a bite of my bacon cheeseburger...it had a long, gross piece of hair in it! I immediately took the dog food back to Wendy's for the last time and that same older Filipino female employee gave me a refund with no apology! She pretended like she was beyond stupid when I asked her how hair got in my food and she continued to have a sneaky looking facial expression! My final statement to that unprofessional, middle aged employee was: "I will be giving Wendy's a review on Yelp based on my awful experience!" She gave me a blank, robotic stare and at that point I wasn't even surprised! I highly suspect an evil, malicious employee at Wendy's deliberately put hair in my food because I came back to the restaurant for a 2nd time as a result of receiving food that wasn't fresh! Each time that I ordered food at Wendy's today, I was very polite and I didn't deserve the horrible service or mistreatment! I will never eat at wendy's in Castro Valley as long as I am breathing! Okay, 5 stars for a Wendy's seems excessive, but I think for what they are and what they are trying to accomplish (low cost, fast, fresh, clean, polite), this is an unusually well run franchise. I have been coming sporadically here for many years now and feel qualified to write these words of praise. On the standard fast food metrics: Speed: Lightning fast - this is the fastest Wendy's around (and that is saying a lot). All you connoisseurs using the drivethrough and acting like you are perusing the menu at Chez Panisse - have your order and money ready or take it inside, please. Let's keep this Wendy's the fastest iin the west. Accuracy: I generally make a special request every time I am there and they have never gotten it wrong (at least 50 times over the years). That is really an amazing record of achievement in a fast food environment. Quality: Standard Cleanliness: These folks keep Wendy's ugly-assed design aesthetic sparkling clean. Customer Service: They know how to keep the line moving in a reasonably pleasant way, especially tough with the aforementioned connoisseurs. Although this is a chain and doesn't merit a food review, Wendy's makes the best burger in the business. Well priced, relatively healthy (the leanest beef in fast food nation - look it up), and meaty tasting, not greasy tasting. Leave off the mayo, add a size salad and diet coke and you have a not unhealthy meal at a fast food joint. read more

For a quick and fresh meal, I would choose Wendy's over any other Fast Food Chain. Believe me, with 5 kids, fast food is unfortunately a way of life sometimes. With Wendy's, I know that the quality of the food is good and the value is great. My favorite is the Berry salad. I have it whenever I am craving salad and don't have time to make one. My kids like the Fries and Chicken Tenders. And the Frosty, well, who wouldn't like the Chocolate Frosty? read more
