Can't Communicate - Then implies I'm stupid! 1 pm on 6/11/25 at the Wendy's at 4433 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85205 I walked in, hot, tired, and ordered right after my husband. I ordered a single with cheese on it. The clerk said something about, "Are you OK with it." "What's it?" I replied. "Are you OK with your sandwich." "I don't know. I haven't received it yet." Blank looks, no moves on her part to enter the order, I try to place the order again and get more nebulous, "it." This went round and round. I finally slammed my keys on the counter and said, "OK, let's try this again. A single with cheese." They do know what a cheeseburger is, correct? BTW, no, I was not cussing or dishing out personal insults. The manager walked up and engaged in the same, nebulous behavior. Somehow I eventually got my sandwich. No, it was not what I wanted, but I was hungry. My husband suggested that if the clerk had said, "Do you want everything on it," or even mentioned menu options, then I might have understood. He was right. I decided it was a good idea to go share this with the clerk, so I went back up to her and said, "I think I know where we mis-communicated. If you had said, 'Do you want everything on it -' BOOM! I get cut off with the rudest, "Ma'am, it's a sandwich. It's not that hard." (*snarky smirks thrown my way*) "Yes! It's not that hard," I replied. Almost instantly the shift/store manager is back, badgering me, telling me to go away, and to have a good day. From the body language, it looks like the shift/store mamager is protecting this clerk who doesn't bother to distinguish 'it' from anything and can't even get the tenses of her sentences right. I was ready to start cussing if I didn't walk away. Later I asked for the bathroom code as got sniggering laughed at, as though, "Are you too stupid to understand that, too?" I am NEVER going back there again! - But then, they apparently think they know everything and are perfect, so I'm sure they'll find a way to stay in business. read more

Not many complaints from the $7 full size parmesan chicken cesar salad. Use the app for good discounts. A few bad pieces of lettuce is standard, but the salad had crisp cherry tomatoes, a bag of parmesan crisps, cesar dressing and alot of hot, fresh chicken chunks. My husband saw a Wendy's ad for a baconator sandwich. Mistake I made was going thru the drive thru. The bag felt very light. I asked if I had the right order. I was told that is how they make a Baconator. I had already paid the $9 plus for the burger. I should have taken a picture. The line was long so I left. The bacon was undercooked, the burgers were so small that they didn't come close to covering the bun, lettuce was the white hard part of iceberg, tomato was doggie. Saying I was yelling in the speaker and the girl asked me not to yell I wasn't yelling Then manager proceeded to argue with me and I said I'm yelling now and she slammed the window in my face and I screamed at her that I wanted her boss and she opened the window and started yelling at me telling me to leave or she will call the cops and even took her head set off like she wanted to fight. I don't know if this Wendy's is replacing managers too quickly for them to learn their jobs, or if they are just stuck long term with a bad manager, but this place seems to be working hard to keep all their one star ratings. Even though there were no other dine-in customers, every table needed wiping. Bugs were flying around; one even flew into my half eaten Frosty. No spoons, and though they brought us a couple from their drive thru supply, none were restocked in the 15 minutes or so we were there. Went to Wendy's here in Mesa after a gap of many years when it comes to Wendy's. Note, today is 03/02/2019. I am not known these days for "fast food". Neither is my wife. We went here because we wanted a simple lunch, and because we wanted something that my wife's high school age nephew would eat. The following are our observations and thoughts (my wife, nephew, and myself). 1) I ordered a standard full taco salad. While I did remember it fondly from when I used to eat this nearly 10 years ago, I can see why I do not eat it now. While it may be okay, I found it a bit salty, and well, even I, a so-so cook, can make a better salad. 2) My wife ordered Jr Cheeseburger $4 meal deal. They made a few errors in the preparation of this. My wife asked for BBQ sauce, they gave her Honey Mustard. She also got a hot coffee that she did not order. For her, it was otherwise okay. Also the chicken nuggets tasted stale (sitting too long under heat lamps). 3) My wife's nephew got a barbecue cheeseburger combo. They made a few errors in the preparation of this. First, the combo was supposed to have fries. They forgot the fries. That is actually okay, as my wife, really did not want her fries and gave it to him. Second, my wife's nephew requested, no pickles, they put pickles on it. Third, the onions tasted awful (he just put them in the garbage)--he is generally quite fond of onions. As you can see, things change, and even I change. Perhaps it is best that I let those experiences from 10+ years ago be that. I do not want what Wendy's is today (at least in Mesa) to tarnish my views. The quality of Wendy's has slipped. By the way, when this location gets busy, they appear to suffer on quality. There were a number of people this afternoon who were waiting for orders, that had them messed up (one even took the tray to his table, to find out they forgot his burger). It is almost pointless to go back, particularly when the customer line is going out the door. When I saw the long drive thru line, I should have gone somewhere else, and come at a different time. I do not mind the wait, but the quality as far as accuracy is not good. They got a good business here in Mesa....a lot of seniors who perhaps are, or were, regulars back home, before retiring to Mesa AZ. They apparently got a clientele. They need to address the accuracy of presenting orders to customers. Apparently, the staff really struggles behind the counter when there is a huge backlog. However, it just takes turning enough people off to the point they never come back (hence a lost sale). To the franchise owner and manager, please be more of a leader, show more of a presence, and TRAIN YOUR STAFF!!! We drove thru and when he handed me one bag, I ask is this everything, because we had a baconador, to dave singles, two ff. He said yes. As we drove away, my son checked and we didn't have the baconador. so we went back and I went inside. he said that my card didn't go thru anyway and that it was canceled so he rang me back up and I paid. The baconador was supposed to be plain. I waited for the baconador, while all my other food was getting cold. So he handed it to me and I went in the car. I asked my son to check. It was a baconador and it had everything on it. So we had to go inside again. They ended up redoing everything. it took 45 min and three tries to get it right. Will not be going back to that Wendys.
