My wife does not drink alcohol but you have to pay the $35 to sit inside the tasting lounge. One tip is to line up at the podium to check in or you won't get your full 1.5 hour session. Our sommelier was excellent; entertaining, knowledgeable and friendly. My eldest nephew was able to get him to give us a tasting upgrade so we had 2 whites and 6 reds to try. He brought us a complimentary bowl of truffle oil popcorn and at the end he brought us a full tasting carafe of a single lot red, 012, which was outstanding. He informed us that in recognition of the Warriors championship, they were offering these for purchase at half price ($53), my sister got half a case to take home. My Dad has raved about his experience at Wente Vineyards so for Father's Day we decided to come celebrate here! We made reservations for the Tasting Lounge which was a phenomenal experience. The wine tasting is outdoors which was perfect for a warm summer day. The layout is beautiful, spacious, and extremely relaxing. We both felt at complete ease while sipping on our wine. We both opted for the Legacy Flight which came with Rosé, White, and Red wine. All four of the wines in the flight were extraordinary. My personal favorite was the Artisian White for it's crisp taste and finish. The Rosé was dry and the Reds were full bodied with a nice finish as well. We also ordered the Gourmet Popcorn to snack on. It was a salty Parmesan truffle popcorn that was oh so delicious. The service here was exceptional! Our server was extremely friendly and shared a lot of great information regarding Wente Vineyards. He also had a lot of wonderful stories to share about wine and life topics. What was extremely sweet was the fact that he asked if we were celebrating anything special. When we told him we were here for Father's Day he provided complimentary champagne. I've been a loyal visitor to Wente for years, and it remains, without a doubt, the best winery Livermore has to offer. The regular wine tasting--priced at $40--showcased a collection of wines that were overwhelmingly delicious, with just a few exceptions. They thoughtfully provide complimentary crackers, and if you're in the mood for something extra, you can easily purchase a charcuterie board. My girl was in town and we needed a cute place to sip some wine and unwind from the week. I read a couple Yelp reviews and Wente got my attention. Customer service was amazing from the moment we walked in. Everyone was cheerful, had great smiles and overall really helpful. Our server was really knowledgeable about the menu and suggested some really good wines that we enjoyed. We decided against the wine club but I did order a bottle to go. We enjoyed 2 of the flights and the classic charcuterie board. I will say that I think the tasting pour is a little smaller than I'm use to for $30 but our server gave us an extra glass on the house so that was lovely. Definitely coming back! read more

So this is a heck of place that I wish I would have found sooner. I'll be honest, I had actually avoided Wente because it's one of the "big" wineries in the Livermore valley. I'm not sure how long the tasting lounge on Arroyo Road has been open, but it's phenomenal grounds. I can't wait for Covid to be over so that tours and music can return. The wine was pretty incredible. It's by no means low price, but I think worth the money. The reds are smooth and often dry and Italian in style. My favorite! Even without events due to Covid, we'll be coming back often just for the setting and the great wine. FYI, If you like olives, get the olives and mozzarella appetizer. It's wonderful. read more

It's Valentine's day, so it's only right I write a review for my Valentine- my favorite winery. Wente never disappoints. Every tasting is wonderful and our latest Nth degree pickup (for the Merlot) is fabulous. On top of that, the Nth degree let's you have a party with your best friends, and this time it was in the old champagne caves! What a great place and what a memorable party. Our host could not have been nicer and more informative. And the wine was stellar. Just a perfect day. Excellent all around! Wente is the top dog winery in Livermore, and for good reason. The grounds are the most beautiful and largest of any winery in the area, there is TONS of seating both indoors and outdoors, the servers and sommeliers are friendly and know their stuff, and the wines are great! I've never waited for a table here, I walk in and get seated for a tasting immediately - try that at another winery! A bonus is that in the summer Wente is somehow far cooler than all the other Livermore wineries, with a beautiful breeze blowing all the time. They also have live music events, a jazz festival, and much more. You simply must try Wente, and I say that as a die hard Napa regular who also lived in France for a year. The Livermore vibe is special, friendly and welcoming, and I love it. Oh, and Wente allows children, which for me might just be the best part! read more

My partner and I had a wonderful experience coming to Wente for the first time last weekend! We reserved our outdoor table for Sunday a few days in advance on their website (through CellarPass). Upon arrival, we had our temperature checked and we chose to sit in the sunny outdoor deck area. We did both the Legacy Flight and Red Flight for tasting and added a Classic snack board. Everything was delicious. The dark chocolate snack bits do melt in the sun, so keep that in mind if you choose to sit in the sun. We also had a fantastic host who told us the history of the vineyard and made the experience even more fun. Definitely recommend coming by for a date or small gathering. Staff wear masks and the tables are well spaced out per regulations. read more

This place is beautiful our waitress was amazing! The grazing board was very yummy also, Especially the jam and crackers. We went with the $30/person wine tasting. Which was ok, the wines weren't that good. But our waitress was super amazing brought out 2 other wines to try out that were more on the sweeter side, they were definitely delicious! The down side....very pricy for the amount of wine you get. They give you 4 small glasses filled half way to share, You literally get 2 sips of each wine to taste. Went here on a rainy weekend for a reserved tasting they offer on their website. The location is great, tucked away in the back of Livermore the area is quite and very "wine country." Everything is greened up and lush and the grounds and golf course look great. When you walk into the building where they have the restaurant, they are a little unorganized. They need to work out how they greet and sort folks who come in the door as it can be a little confusing as to where you should go, what they offer, and where they want you to wait. We got there a little early and no one knew what to do with us. We were informed they don't offer tastings but could buy a bottle but no standing at their bar. At the same time other people were coming in and being poured wine, so we were certainly confused and almost left immediately. When we asked what was going on and if we could have a glass of wine, someone figured out we had a reservation and explained they tend to hold off pouring wine for those parties as there would be plenty to drink coming up; this made sense and we waited a little longer to be seated. Shortly after we were taken downstairs and seated. Things got way better from there, the wines were paired with menu offerings and neither the food nor the drink was disappointing. There was Chardonnay paired with Scallops, Syrah with Pork Loin and Beets, Squash Sope with Grenache blend, Tenderloin with Merlot, finished off with a dessert and dessert wine. Dennis, who works there was quite helpful and helped to guide the tasting and field any questions. The Nth degree Chardonnay is amazing! It shouldn't distract you from the other wines they offer, the GSM, Syrah, and Merlot were great as well. All the initial hiccup dissolved as Wente delivered superbly on what we came there for. We left with a few bottles happy that we stayed. I highly recommend the reserved tasting for anyone who likes wines and wants a palatable experience. read more

Never again. It seems that you are welcome as long as you are not black. My friend and I decided to have a wine tasting at Wente today and were reasonably excited, considering their longevity. We aimed to celebrate Veterans Day (since I am an OEF veteran) and enjoy the day. Upon arrival, the host greeted the two parties ahead of us nicely. But when he welcomed us, we were asked, "What brought you to us today?" (I ignored the question because people are people in California, and by that, I mean covertly racist and rude.) We requested to sit in the sun, and there was a table that would sit six open, but the host stated since we were only two, that table could be helpful for a large party, so instead, we sat in the shade. (Remember this.) When it was time to select a flight, the waitress gave us a sample of wine and left. She did not explain the selection or give us notes; she just placed the order and left. I will admit one nice thing: The waitress did change our order at the last moment. Once we started the tasting, another couple arrived (an interracial couple- a white male and an African female). Guess where they sat? At the table, "saved" for a larger party. So, back to the tasting. The tasting began. There was minimal explanation of the selections from one sample to the next. I even explicitly asked about notes and pairings. The waitress gave a generic response that offered zero explanation and said, "Enjoy." After the tasting, we both were pleased to enjoy our time together, but the overall experience was terrible. Upon leaving, two couples went ahead of us and received gratitude. When we walked to the door, the person standing there looked at us and away. However, when the next couple walked past, he also offered thanks to them. We made reservations 3 weeks ago for Saturday 11:00am. 90 min tasting time. 1 flight per person only. $30 white/red flight and $40 all red flight. They don't serve wine by the glass, but can let you taste other wines than on the tasting menu. Very generous with letting us try wines out. It was a very hot day but morning was perfect temperature. We chose to do the tasting outdoors. We did both the blend and all reds tasting. They are known for their chardonnays. The wines here are only sold at this winery. The ones sold in grocery stores are not sold at winery. They do quarterly member release wines. Free parties of wine and food. You need to buy 3-4 wines per quarter. The first Chardonnay was very light and made in stainless steel, while the 2nd Chardonnay was aged in oak barrel and tasted more like a normal Chardonnay with bold flavor. The other two reds were a blend. They were ok. The all reds tasting was from nth degree. The Merlot and Cabernet were the best. We actually loved the extra pour at the end of tasting that was the Lot 14. It was a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. We like some of the other lots too. Linda was very nice and knowledgeable. We also got to try the rose and it was ok. You cannot bring outside food here. They have popcorn, spice nuts, charcuterie & cheese board, veggie board, olives and mozzarella for sale. We will definitely be back to try more. They are always making new wines every quarter. Red wines are a bit on expensive side. A lot of umbrellas at the table with shade. read more

We worked with Haylie and Chef Daniel @ Wente Vineyards to plan our Christmas Party for our unique club. They went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. Between last minute guest dietary changes and calming my nerves that everything is handled, Chef and Haylie helped me feel relaxed knowing all was in control. From the time we arrived their team Garrison and Brandon had taken over and everything ran so smooth. The room was decorated absolutely beautiful for our intimate Christmas party. The appetizers were delicious, dinner of surf and turf was phenomenal and my palette was wanting more. Dessert was your choice of cheesecake with gingerbread cookie crumbles saturated in sweet goodness or chocolate torte with peppermint bark and dark chocolate shavings, it was hard to decide. My husband chose one and I chose the other. We were able to taste both. The staff's warmth and attentiveness made the night even more memorable. We have four + servers today - the first 20 minutes, and no service. One served us water, another gave us the tasting list, another took the tasting list, then third one told us no food, and the last one asked for our tasting list - which we did not have... The big issue was not the delay nor the confusion, yet no food to pair with the wine....No good and we left, not having been warned up front when we called to make a reservation that there was no food. I decided to try Wente since it is one of the known wine brands in the Bay Area. I personally enjoy the wine from Wente as well even though I've never come here for tasting before. I made the reservation online for the patio tasting with my friends. It is so nice to have the option for patio wine tasting. The table we were seated at was out in the sun and it was too hot so we requested to change the table. The hostess was very accommodating and she let us move into the table under the shade. The ambiance was nice and the wine was good. I wouldn't say there were very exceptional but it was a nice visit. There were two options for the wine tasting flight; one is red wine only and another option is a mix. The tasting is $30 per person. As for the food, there was three small bites and two boards option. Bites; popcorn, olives and mozzarella, spiced nuts. Seasonal boards; classic board or harvest board We ordered both boards and for the wine, there were mixed choices on the tasting set. We order ordered additional bottles to drink. I took out a star from the review since the server had zero interaction with us. She didn't explain anything to us about the wine, the winery, or the food. We placed our order and she brought everything for us. She was just an order taker. Don't confuse the Vineyard Table with The Grill. This review is for the Vineyard Table. We were in Livermore on a Friday and decided to try lunch at Wente. We had some Gift Cards to use up. We were greeted at the door which is also the entrance to the Tasting Room. It was too early for lunch but we were seated in the lounge and perused a coffee table book while we sipped on Iced Tea. When the restaurant opened, we were seated and our order taken. Our server went over the menu and suggested his favorites. We're not really wine drinkers so we stuck to the Iced Tea. We ordered: Butternut Squash Hummus - 3 - Good flavorwise, though a bit thick. The server had to bring us additional Pita Chips so we could finish the Hummus. Crispy Duck - 2 - The duck tasted like duck but the Crispy part was much too Crispy. Kind of like comparing a Kettle Chip to a regular Potato Chip. Also, one of my Drumstick bones was splintered on the end and could have created a potential choking hazard to an inattentive guest. 18 Hour Beef Stew - 3 - Not nearly hot enough temperature wise. The stew was presented in a medium Dutch Oven with Toasted French Bread on the side. She said that there wasn't enough Beef or Vegetables. Seafood Paella - 2 - It didn't appear that the Paella was cooked in the vessel that it was served in. There was no Socarrat in the pan. The rice was quite flavorful but a bit too soft and wet. I was surprised at the amount of Prawns on the top of the dish but as I was eating, I realized that there were no Clams or Calamari as listed on the menu. When I asked the server, he told me that the kitchen had run out of those two items so they substituted with additional Prawns. Wow. And on a Friday afternoon? That doesn't bode well for the weekend. For the most part, all of the staff was friendly. Everyone greeted us, thanked us and smiled a lot. We were visiting in Livermore and decided to do some wine tasting. We stopped by the Wente Vineyard Tasting room and had an amazing time. They offer $30 and $40 flights of five wines plus snacks. We had the $40 flight which my wife and I split as a flight for each would have felt a little overwhelming given that we had to drive afterwards. We also had a small mozzarella and olive snack. The wines were superb. Although I am not usually a fan of Chardonnay, the one served to us was excellent and was our favorite. We will order a few bottles shipped to us in Minnesota our home state. The service was also outstanding. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and the history of Wente. The ambiance of the tasting room was tasteful and comfortable. The history shows when you visit the estate and the loving care with which the wine is made always shines through. Came here on a whim as they stated walk-ins are welcome. It was a Saturday afternoon, and we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too busy. We checked in with our party of 8 at the host stand and were immediately told that for a party of this size, there is a $250 fee. Now, if this was a minimum to spend - no problem. But we were told that this was just a fee to push two tables together. We opted to sit outside and order bottles and snacks instead. This was worth it. The weather was stunning. The grounds are beautiful. The service was prompt and friendly. The charcuterie plate and truffle popcorn were fantastic. And most importantly, we ordered four different bottles, and all enjoyed them. Enough so to even take some to go. I'd definitely be back if I were in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Everytime we have guests come from out of State, it's the Rest of downtown P-Town, however, the only thing negative about the vast huge property is not the dirt pkg lot but NO EV Charged! It's such a destination their is nothing but Lake DeValle beyond their vast Vineyard property southeast just past Olivina. Everytime we attend the tasting room they have bottles or something tasty to take home, try Thanksgiving or Christmas time holiday, beau decor and years back we saw Steve Martin and his band concert there. The Wente worker never leave us hanging they always have someone greet us and make everyone inclusive and join in. Probably more than twenty times for us with our Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association pass too. I came to Wente with a large group and we were seated outside for the wine tasting. Each person was priced at $25 and the wines were pretty good. The reason I'm giving this place two stars is because of the strict management. When we first sat down, a server approached us and said "we have been observing your group and one of your members seems drunk". It was pretty clear that management told her to come tell us that. I've never been to a winery that has had management "observe" us. None of us were drunk. I think they were referring to my friend who is simply very tall so his movements might have been a bit awkward. I don't know how a winery, a place that literally sells nothing but alcohol, can expect only sober people to exist on their property. After that first bad impression, we ended up being served a few pours. (the server realized we were obviously sober) The pours, by the way, are pretty small. I think management also told our server to emphasize their 1.5oz pours and to make a big deal out of it because "most places only do 1oz". I'm not sure where they get their information from because most wineries I've been to pour closer to 3oz... The pourer/aerator that was in the wine bottle opening was configured to exactly cut off at 1.5oz. It was extremely awkward watching our server turn the wine to pour it and then watching the bottle aerator stop almost immediately after the small pour. Some other features of Wente: There are food stands on the property that serve items like tacos and pizza - I tried both and they were pretty tasty but small with minimal ingredients (pictures attached). The outdoor seating area is fairly limited so if you're coming with a big group, make sure to book a reservation and be prepared to squeeze around a table. I don't know if I would I would come back. However, I did think that the service itself was pretty great. Our server was trying to make the best out of the awkward situations (the "observation", small pours, etc.) and it was clearly not her fault - this place just has strict rules for some reason. Let's just say the service was not too good, the server was rude and over charged me on the tip portion. My sister and I with 4 other ppl arrived late because we were waiting for our baby sitter for our 11 kids (total). We called and made sure to update them upon our arrival. The rest of our party was there enjoying the tasting which was fine and we understand we were late & we apologized that we were late. The server was rude and spoke to my sister and I like we were children and embarrassed us In front of our party. She kept reminding us we only have this much time and we said that's ok we are fine. Then she walked us out and we decided to get some bottles and relax before heading to our next winery . Once we were done and I was going to pay, She decides to tip herself $250 and also decided to pick my bottles from my shipment and did not ask me if I want to make any changes. She of course picked all the most expensive bottles. I called and complained and they did refund me the tip charge and I was told they were going to call me back with an update. I have not received a call back since December 2023 with any follow up as I was promised. I called several times and left messages. I recently sent an email and received a call and said they were going to have the manager call me with an update. Have not heard from anyone. I have been a member since 2015 but I decided to cancel my membership. I am disappointed because I really enjoy their wine and restaurant/venue, but did not feel like I was taken serious in regards of this issue. Update: I just found out that 3 of my aunts became members that day as well and then they cancelled their memberships as well because they didn't like how they were treating me. read more
