Apparently when they charge you $3.50 for a medium latte they really mean a small latte with two shots. I found this disappointing and annoying to think you are getting a medium latte and only get 6 sips of coffee. If you have three cup sizes then a medium latte should come in a medium cup. I also ordered a bagel the works. The slices of tomato and onion were so thick it was hard to eat without getting a mouthful of onion. My boyfriend had a breakfast burrito that he said tasted good but was really watery. I used to really like this place and the ambiance inside is nice but honestly with all these new businesses and restaurants coming into Webster street this place needs to step up their game and their customer service. read more

I just love this place!!!! They have a bunch of delish options, the bacon & potato quiche is really good, and the egg plant sandwiches are great. I love that they have a full breakfast menu, you can get anything from an all American pancake breakfast, to a Mexican huevos rancheros (eggs with a crispy tortilla and salsa) breakfast, as well as a bunch of other yummy options! I'm somewhat of a picky eater, so I love the fact that, when I'm in the mood for a custom (build your own) sandwich, they don't mind, my personal creation....... Roast beef, feta, and their homemade pesto sauce on a baguette, mmmmmmm, my mouth just watered! Give it a try, you'll be sure to be back! They specialize in coffee beverages, and have smoothies, fresh squeezed juices, a bunch of pastries, salads, soups, fresh fruit, and a bunch of other stuff! I love it! Bad service - whether they were slammed or slow. When making their coffee to go, they use the steamwand in their wax-covered cups. You know what that means? Wax-covered coffee that you're ingesting. Staff barely speaks English (that's fine), but difficult to communicate. Their food is extremely bland. Had a BLT and a breakfast sandwich on different occasions - no seasoning, spreads, nothing... just a boring sandwich I could have made at home. Decor is cool, they have wifi. I really love this place. First let me tell you about the staff they are very friendly and courteous. The food is outstanding and they have the best iced coffee in town. They just remodel the outside patio which is great if you have kids (I have two). The inside is great also. plus they have free WiFi. Overall I give it four stars because sometimes you do wait a little long on line to order specially on saturday and sunday mornings but I think they will take care of that problem soon. read more

Great smoothie. They forgot my order. I had to check in and they said they were still working on it but three people got their orders before me. They lose a star for that and they lose two stars for lying to me. Honest business is better business. I don't know if this place changed owners in the last few years, but they used to serve flavorful food, and had an interesting sandwich menu. Came yesterday and ordered their black forest ham sandwich and it was the worst sandwich I've ever had: ham and sundried tomatoes were completely tasteless; the dijon mustard didn't taste like dijon at all, and the bread was stale. I figured they were using cheap ingredients so didn't bother to ask them to replace my order. It seems that they're serving overall bland food because they decided to go cheap. Asked for no mustard and no peppers but my salami sandwich came with peppers. Simple to fix on my own but they forgot my smoothie and didn't bring utensils and napkins. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Our food wasn't fresh. It wasn't even warm. The waiter complained when we asked for him to clean the table, when we asked for plastic utensils, and when we asked for warmed syrup. The cashier also complained when we told him that our food wasn't warmed saying "well what do you want us to do? For the last few months, I have been on a quest for a good breakfast/brunch place in Alameda and still have yet to find THE ONE. This place is supposed to be pretty popular but very meh to me. You go up to the counter to order and they hand you a number. The menu isn't very large and the food takes a while to come out. I think their best mark are their coffee drinks and not their food so if you're looking for a coffee shop to hang out at, this would probably better for that. This is one of our favorite restaurants on the island. Walking down on the weekend is part of our routine. The food is consistently good-always fresh and tasty, never over-seasoned; the staff is friendly, even when it's hectic and they just put a permanent shade fixture up on the patio and plan to add more tables. New bonus: fresh made Hibiscus Tea, Watermelon Limeade and Cucumber Pineapple Juice. They don't offer them everyday so it's a delicious surprise to walk in and find something refreshing to try, especially on a sunny day. read more

Love the beautiful west end WesCafe! The owners and staff always return my smile. My foods and drinks are always ready within a reasonable amount of time, even when they get busy (on market days especially). The crowd is always varied - from City of Alameda employees, to mamas and babies, college students, and elderly folks on a walk. Everyone seems comfortable and welcome. I like doing laptop work there, or bringing a book. I tried the Marc smoothie last time I was in - it did not disappoint! It has about 8 different ingredients which all blend really well together, and it's named after my old boss (a Wescafe regular). Nice size, too. Try the back patio for a change of scenery! Ordering line can be extremely slow moving during breakfast and early lunch. Maybe it's possible to add additional staff to take order or help Out behind counters during those peak hours. My best drink is the green draymond monster smoothie. My favorite reason for going is the back patio. Food is okay it doesn't knock it out of the ball park but living on the west end, it is a nice presence as the west end lacks good eateries variety especially breakfast. read more

Wes Cafe is in a GREAT location for morning coffee near the casual carpool and bus lines. It's really cute inside and good for meeting a friend or working on your computer. It really needs to step it up on food and drink options!! The pastries look like the Costco variety and all the food options are basic. Real disappointed in this place. I waited until three bad visits to say something. The young woman who makes coffee has an atrocious attitude- her eye rolls are really unwelcoming. It is not my fault that you don't know how to make coffee, and it's not my fault there are lots of orders! Ordered a green tea latte and it was barely green tea (certainly not matcha). I asked the guy behind the counter if I could get a latte instead, since this was a different drink that the previous green tea latte I'd gotten here. He said "no problem" with a smile. She must have been offended because she made me a scalding hot latte, served with teenager emo eye rolls. The food quality is also subpar, and has been for a few months. Potatoes are oily and underdone, eggs consistently overcooked. Beignets chewy and heavy. Too bad as the service is otherwise friendly and they move people though quickly. Found street parking fairly quickly even on Saturday morning. Huge selection of food options. The coffees are big and strong but no free refills (I am a coffee fiend but one medium was plenty). I came here with a large group for a business lunch. I wanted to get the turkey sandwich on their menu however they were out of turkey. i substituted a hot chicken breast. I also ordered a full lental and veggie soup. The soup was very good and the sandwich was even better. We also took up two tables and stayed for 2 hours during a busy Sunday.
