Our thermostat stopped working. I unsuccessfully tried installing a new one. The manufacturer walked me through installation as well as diagnostics, resulting in a possible dead wire. Time to call a pro. After reading through the yelp comments, I called Tim. No comments questioned his integrity - so important in a trade where most consumers - like me - know little about the technology involved in the system. Tim gave me a courtesy call when he was about 20 minutes out. He and his assistant went right to work after I summarized the situation. Within 10 minutes, they found the problem - a blown fuse. After replacing it and verifying twice that the system was properly working, Tim explained what may have caused the fuse to blow and also gave me some valuable advice about the duct work - this alone probably saved me a lot of money and future headaches. They then cleaned up and were gone. Local family-owned trades have yet to let down. Cody Polansky is a great plumber who is honest and fair. After getting to my house it seemed as if it was a last minute "well okay I'm in the area" he gets here with his helper proceeded to have his helper go to the AC unit and open it up the helper said: what's wrong with it (AC)? I replied nothing zero it's perfect! Just dirty. Helper just looked at Tim puzzled...? & then I just looked at Tim puzzled...? Wth? They came when they said they would and made sure to check everything so they only fixed and replaced exactly what wasn't working. It was unfortunate that my air conditioning unit bit the dust, however, Tim (the owner) explained that my old unit wasn't strong enough (I agreed even though I never knew that was the case) and he fully explained what was different and better about the new unit! Freezing cold this morning. Not East Coast Freezing but definitely Marina cold where the house is 10 degrees colder than the outside.. we used tim's heating for 15 years. there was on ongoing problem with my mom's unit. he couldn't find an answer. my mom, r.i.p mom , may have said some stern words to him, but she was sick, old and speaks her mind. something was going on with her ac and he could'nt diagnose it!! her ac went out in the hottest (90s folks) part of the summer of 2018! i called tim! not knowing much, my mom has handled her own dealings in the past, tim refused to come out! he was claiming my mom yelled at him! i have had a good business relationship with him. i pleaded and pleaded with him, "you will deal with only me." mom was right, there was something starting to go wrong with the ac!!! he refused! he is not a bad ac man, but he doesn't have a heart since then, my mom suffered with very high heat-all he had to do was come out. she really suffered than summer shortly after, she was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer also since that time one ac company after another has destroyed something or ripped us off! tim knew this system, totally heartless i've had to spend more than 20k and still problems! thank you tim!!! sarcastically!! he is not a bad ac guy, but if rightfully disagree with him, he is heartless. i have no other way to describe him as a business man! i reviewed with honesty and and have told it as it really happened, in every respect. read more

I randomly came across a gas leak from the main line to my AC unit at around 10am on Thursday and called Tim's with the faint hope that someone could take care of it before the weekend. They were up on the roof an hour or so later and had the whole thing buttoned up before lunch. Moses was a super nice guy who worked quickly, efficiently and cleanly. I would give them 5 stars for the previous work they have done for me, but have to withdraw 2 stars for their recent presentation. I recently had a problem with my condenser during the last heat wave. They came out in good time, made a careful assessment and never bothered to send their final quote or reccomendation. I have to say that I find this mystifying. They literally wasted their own time (as well as mine) to conduct their evaluation and then just left us roasting. After several days I called another company who had a new condenser replaced within 24 hours. I should mention that it's now several weeks since they came and there never was a call back or final quote. read more

Can be a little bit tougher to get a hold of initially on the phone, and he's so busy with other jobs that setting up a time for your job might be tough, but he came and did a nice central heat installation pretty quickly. It didn't help that our installation was happening, right as we kept going through some pretty cold streaks. He didn't stray at all on his estimate, so no surprises on the back end for price. It's probably a good sign that he's so slammed with work. Maybe it would help out to get a secretary to do all the follow up calls etc, but otherwise we wouldn't hesitate at all to call him up again for repairs etc. read more

I spoke to Tim thrice over the phone and he patiently listened to everything I said without any attitude (which is what you usually get from specialists who are in high demand). he sent oscar over the same week who is just the best: quick, efficient, clean and 100% accommodating. I told my neighbor and two days later oscar worked on his floor heater as well. I wouldn't call it cheap, but two other companies were quick to sell me on their 'inexpensive' wall heater units that are ugly, loud, leave you with extremely dry, dusty air AAAAND are about 6 times more expensive than what i paid Tim. one even said it was illegal to repair floor heaters because they are not up to code anymore. wtf?!? having finally called tim was the best I could've done!!! After receiving several recommendations for Tim's, I gave him a call and set up an appointment for a few days later. We had not had our air conditioner serviced for years and it was cutting off and not providing cold air (just "air"). Oscar was the technician they sent and he was very efficient, knowledgeable and polite. He diagnosed and fixed the issue within and hour and a half. We were extremely relieved when he gave us the bill, which was right around $200, we were expecting it to be much more expensive. A neighbor stopped by while the work was being done and said his air conditioner was on the fritz also. When Oscar finished our work he headed next door to take a look at theirs. We will call Tim's Heating and Air Conditioning Service if we have any A/C problems in the future. When checking out the reviews I noticed the few that were NOT 5 stars were from yelpers who had actually not even used Tim's. read more

Tim is great! He's honest and knows his HVAC very well. Over the past few years, I had issues with the heating and air conditioner unit in my condo. Either the heat would work and the A/C would not, or the other way around. It was previously checked out and "fixed" by another HVAC company. They would get the A/C working, but they I'd find out later on in the winter time that the heat would be broken (or the other way around). Finally, the other guys said I just needed to replace the whole unit. I called Tim to get a second opinion before tackling the expense of replacing my whole system. When Tim came by to take a look, he was immediately able to diagnose that it was a simply wiring issue. We arranged to have one of his guys come and take a look. It took him less than two hours, and voila! My whole system functions normally -- both heat and A/C. Thanks Tim! read more

Wow, what a breath of fresh air...no pun intended! Two years ago my a/c went out in the middle of a heat wave and Tim wasn't able to come out since he was swamped. I tried another company who said I was low on refrigerant. They filled it up, but said the law would soon make that kind of refrigerant obsolete and they said I'd need a new unit for the next time it happened, because my old unit wouldn't take the new coolant. Fast forward to last week when the air went out. This time Tim was able to come out, thankfully. I was bracing for the bad news especially when he mentioned I was low on coolant, but it turns out my old unit can indeed use the new stuff! No need for a brand new unit! He charged me 30% less than that old company and the bill also included a new switch replacement. I can't sing his praises enough! Finally, an honest AC heating guy. I highly recommend both Tim and his partner! I'll only use him now, for sure. read more

Tim was prompt, professional, and thoughtful. His pricing was very competitive but, more importantly than that, he was honest about what my home needed to adequately heat and cool all the rooms. Other Heating/AC professionals said I needed to upgrade my entire system but Tim believed that they were overstating the need. He gave me a substantially lower quote as a result, taking money out of his own pocket to give me the best solution, not the most expensive solution. He also thought to add a few vents where we didn't have them. This was something that other Heating/AC professionals missed in their quotes and it's made a big difference. I always hate to go along with the crowd but in this case I have to. My wife has been pushing real hard to get AC installed upstairs and downstairs after living without it for 30 years. We got recommendations for 2 companies and we saw Tim's Yelp rating so we got 3 bids altogether. My experience with Tim: Nice low key guy - he came over and took about 20 minutes to assess what needed to be done. Our old (recalled!) heater upstairs needed to be replaced and all of the ducting downstairs needed to be replaced in addition to installing separate AC for the up/down stairs. This matched what the others told me I needed. He also wanted to enlarge the return air vent openings. He went over with me the placement of the units and assured me that the job would be no problem. The 2 other bidders tried to upsell me or complained about the difficulty of the job, and one said that I'd have to separately hire an electrician to hook the system to the fusebox. Tim's bid included everything and still came in over $1000 less than the others. He gave us some references to call and based on them we hired him. It was a little difficult to arrange a time for him to start the job ( middle of summer - his busy season ) but once the job started his crew stayed on the job for the 2-1/2 days it took. The crew was excellent - polite, clean, quiet and consulted with me along the way about where they needed to route the lines, etc. I had no qualms leaving them in the house alone when I had to run out. When they finished the job and left, all the old ducting and wiring was completely gone along with every bit of packaging for the new units. You would have never known they were there except that now we have lovely AC. Tim came by at the end of the last day and went over the whole system with us and made sure we were completely satisfied. He told us to use the system for a couple of weeks and then he'd be back if necessary to fine tune the dampers. We were very satisfied and there were no surprises when he sent the final invoice. I highly recommend Tim if you can get him. If you call him it may take a day or so for him to get back to you but it's well worth it. read more
