He has been super responsive throughout the process. Our technician, Julio, arrived promptly, was friendly, and worked extremely efficiently. He quickly identified that our A/C, which was just blowing out air, had a non functional capacitor and contactor. Julio even showed us the faulty parts so we could verify the issue ourselves. On top of that, they back their work with a warranty on both parts and labor. Overall, 5 stars and I would highly recommend Alpha Heating. Our 2-ton heat pump HVAC system for our condo was about 23 years old, and the condenser finally gave out this summer. We got quotes from several vendors, and from my first call with Jim at Alpha, I knew we were in good hands. He was extremely professional, responsive, and thorough in answering all my questions, and he provided a very fair estimate for the full system replacement. Even better, Jim was able to get the project scheduled within a week of accepting the estimate, including coordinating with our HOA for the necessary approval. In addition to the 10 year hardware warranty and 1 year labor warranty, Alpha also offered a very reasonably priced extended labor warranty (5 and 10 year options), which I added for extra peace of mind. With an August heat wave approaching, I was relieved to find an honest and efficient vendor who could deliver high-quality work on a tight timeline and at a fair price. Julio handled the onsite estimate and was equally professional and knowledgeable. On installation day, the crew arrived right on time, completed the work as scheduled, and thoroughly explained everything once the new system was up and running. We worked with Alpha in August to install a heat pump AC system and replace our gas-powered central heating system. We've worked with many contractors during our house renovation, and Jim and his team were by far the best! Jim responded the same day to our request for an estimate and walked through our existing system. He followed up quickly with 3 proposals (to add AC to our current system or replace it) without any pressure to choose any particular option. The estimates were transparent and detailed and the pricing was very reasonable compared to the other 3 estimates we'd received from very salesy contractors. They handled the permits seamlessly for us. The installation was efficient, his team knowledgeable and polite. They made sure the heat pump and all of the work in the attic was installed not just correctly but using high workmanship. No cutting corners or sloppiness in the install. They answered all of our questions, addressed any concerns since we were home with the baby during the install, and cleaned up every day. We had a smaller task to do (install of a condensate pump in our upstairs A/C system), and Julio did a great job diagnosing and addressing that. We then asked that he take a look at potential install of a new whole floor A/C system in our downstairs area. Due to our good experience on the first job, after receiving other bids, we went with Alpha to handle this system, and everything went flawlessly, including choice of equipment (e.g., Trane), retrofit to existing heating system, install of a new duct and 2 Nest thermostats. Jim H. (the owner) is straight up and honest, and he, Julio and Darwin handled everything with a sense of care, politeness, professionalism and overall good vibes, as well as proper Covid precautions. Our spring thermostat stopped working in the middle of LA winter and we called Alpha as they were close to our Venice home. Julio, the technician, came on time and was very professional from the moment he came into our place. I can't tell you all how happy I am that we selected Alpha for our major HVAC renovation. We solicited 4 bids from a wide range contractors (General Contractor, Large Commerical HVAC Company, and two others). Alpha was highly competitive in their pricing, but the real reason we chose Alpha is because they are straight shooters. We never felt manipulated and we always felt Jim and his team had our best interests at heart. We have an incredibly constrained attic space to install heating and cooling equipment and we were looking to replace a 40 year old gas furnace and 22 year old AC Condenser with energy and environmentally friendly Heat Pump. Many other contractors didn't even want to figure that out because heat pumps are larger than replacing like for like. Jim's team worked smartly to get us into the best technology. They even dis-assembled the large air handling equipment outside our attic, moved it in piece by piece, and re-assembled inside our tiny attic. Because of their smart positioning of the equipment in attic, we now have even more space and access than before with smaller equipment! I knew we needed to replace our 2 AC systems and the time had come. The missing piece of the puzzle was who could I trust to do a good job, provide reliable service and take proper precautions in light of COVID. I researched several local companies - we are in Playa Vista - and settled on Alpha. Unfortunately I had to deal with this long distance at the time, but Jim was on top of everything. Pricing was good but the workmanship and attention to detail was even better. On the day of the install, as luck would have it, the elevators were OUT. So Jim's team carried the roof top units up SIX FLOORS and carried the inside units up FOUR floors and managed to get it all done in one day. And during one of the hottest days of the year. They were careful, polite and made sure we were satisfied. I could not be more happy with their professionalism and Jim's constant contact to keep me informed of the job status throughout. After a long ordeal trying to determine the source of the water dripping from our ceiling, the plumber said we needed our A/C unit repaired. A quick search on Yelp pulled up Alpha Heating & A/C, and a quick phone call resulted in an appointment scheduled for the next day. The technician arrived on time and after a quick assessment of the issue, told me in clear language what needed to be done. I asked him to look at our second unit, and after about 45 minutes everything was back to working perfectly. The bill was very reasonable in my opinion given the amount of time & work. Had read all the great reviews about Jim and his company, but when I called someone answered and was very dry and standoffish right away like they weren't interested in engaging a new customer. Great service!! I have used Alpha two times so far and couldn't be more pleased with the process and results. My first issue was the motor needing to be replaced - a new motor was ordered and Jim was very patient with answering my questions and dealing with my crazy schedule. The second issue (unrelated to the motor) came months later with the unit above me having a leak from their AC unit which came into my place and caused mold damage. My AC unit had to physically be removed and put to the side while mold remediation and repairs took place. It's now back in place and is in better shape than it was before! I have had two excellent experiences with Jim over the last month or so. Back in August the compressor on our A/C stopped working. Yes, right in the middle of a heat wave. I left a message around 7am and Jim called me at around 7:30. He was able to come by between noon and 2. I had a work event that day and Jim agreed to call me when he was on his way so I could meet him and not wait around the house (which was great). He quickly determined that the solenoid was bad, which was a quick fix. Up and running in 20 minutes or so! Our unit was old and noisy, and we had been talking about replacing it for a while, so I asked Jim for a replacement quote for the A/C and for installing a whole house fan. The quote came back reasonable. We had the work done last week. Very professional. Started on time at 7am and by 6pm we had a new air conditioner, furnace, and whole house fan. The owner Jim and his team of technicians will provide an honest appraisal of the work that is needed and an equally honest repair cost. When I called Jim on two occasions for different repairs on my furnace, he responded quickly and sent out his technician almost immediately. He is an excellent communicator and described the problem using terminology that I could easily understand. He made recommendations that showed his experience and was not interested in simply making a quick buck, as so many other HVAC companies often do. With these types of jobs, it is easy for the technicians to sense the home owner's anxiety and over-price the job. That is not how Jim functions. He is a respectful, kind and honest person. Con artists. They told me that a new basic thermostat and safety switch would cost over $500 just in parts but they would install them both for just $500 including labor. A quick check online and both parts were less than $30 each. Don't call these guys. They will try to scam you. I've seen other service companies try to overcharge on parts but this is the worst I've ever seen. read more

Another great experience with Alpha Heating and AC. Jim responded to my email quickly and came out the next day. It turns out my AC had a blown motor. It was Friday. He tried to get the part in right away to swap it out but because its a Lennox unit, the motor is very specific. But he was able to get the part and was back on monday at 11 as he promised. Again, Jim and Alpha are really good, professional and great communication. With AC and plumbing companies, you often wonder, am I getting ripped off? You don't have to worry about that with Alpha. I called the day of to ask if we could meet earlier than our scheduled time and he was great about that too. He was professional, a very nice guy, and wasted no time in letting me know that the unit was shot. He quoted what I thought was a reasonable price for a replacement unit but then a technician from another company suggested I make sure that the quote from Alpha included permit fees. Guess what? Jim told me, via email, that he had forgotten to include permit fees in his quote.
