Highly recommend. I needed some body work done on my car. The estimate was a lot lower than a national chain. I was given an estimate, but was told that they might be able to fix it for less, tho he didn't want to give me that estimate in case it didn't work. The car was done when promised and at the lower estimate. A beautiful job. I had forgotten to mention that there was quite a bit of old tar on the opposite side that I wanted removed, but when I picked up the car, that was gone too. I certainly hope I won't need more body work done in the near future, but if I do, or need maintenance or mechanical work, I would not hesitate to take the car to West Automotive. read more

I give this repair shop a big thumbs up! Last year Chuck told me it would cost about $700 to fix my ignition module. But he also told me the car would still run without it and therefore was not worth fixing since this was a 2000 Pontiac. That was VERY HONEST on his part. Recently I needed the Serpentine Belt on my car replaced. He gave me the best price BY FAR and I only had to wait about a half hour while he installed it for me. The owner is a very nice and personable man.. Other than that, I would NOT recommend this place....I had issues with my car the second I drove away after my last oil change and went else where to get it fixed after that... The time frame that West Automotive is open is not realistic for the type of business it is.. Doors are closed and locked at 5pm on the dot and not weekend or holiday hours... They tried to tell me at one of my oil change that my power steering liquid was leaking and wanted to charge me near $300 to fix... Brought my car to three different mechanics right after that and all three said it was completely fine,NOT leaking and doesn't need to be fixed read more

Top notch, and fair prices. You wouldn't notice this place driving by, unless you knew it was there. Chuck and his crew are professional and top notch. Came to Elmhurst to visit family. I live in Springfield, Il and during my visit my air conditioning went out and my car started making this awful screeching noise. It's the middle of summer so I needed air to get back home (my toddler was in tow)so I googled the nearest mechanic and West Automotive came up, checked the reviews (which were all 5 star and few 4 star) and gave them a call. Chuck answered and told me to bring it in that evening and he would check it out the next morning. Sure enough he called me the next afternoon and told me exactly what was going on. Quoted me a very fair price and told me the car would be done in an hour so that I can get back home. I have had intermttant issues with my car starting and the guys at West Auto have been so helpful. Just last week I was stuck in the parking lot of my health club and they drove out to check on the car and run diagnostics to see what the problem was.
