Finally getting a brand new pyrocarbon titanium shoulder after years of pain and limited motion. The front of the medical center was clean and thankfully a smoke free area. At 530am the front doors promptly opened to the lobby and met with the bubbly registrar Diane who made check in simple and quick. Security walked me up to the waiting room where I sat for a bit then prep for surgery. They knocked me out with some great stuff and the surgery was a success. Cudos to Dr Johnathan Levy. Went home and began my brutal 12 week recovery. read more

Terrible experience for my mother. Due to her health and cognitive issues I serve as her medical advocate and have medical POA. Today, she was transferred from CCU to a step down unit with no explanation. When I arrived to the hospital, she was confused and without any of her medication. It took several hours to get the nursing staff to listen to us and give her the medication and fluids she needed. We still have no explanation of her treatment plan. I was also verbally abused by a nurse named Alexandra. I am stunned that this sort of treatment can happen at any hospital, let alone one in Boca. Yes. Intake was expedited and took caution to all details. The anesthesiologist, Susan, was very knowledgeable and I had a great experience. My throat wasn't dry and my lips didn't crack. I didn't even feel that I was put under general anesthesia. Dr. Gupta did my repair of my complicated complex fracture and I was feeling so much better. Sandy and Fiona were also excellent nurses as well. Nick in transportation was very cautious. Everybody was nonjudgmental and friendly and worked together in a professional manner. Diana was also amazing as the nurse manager. I had an excellent experience. Housekeeping was always on top of everything. The rooms and bathrooms were nice and tidy, changed bedding twice a day or more if needed. Pain management also was a good experience; however, dosage could have been higher for my height and weight in my opinion and with previous medications from prior surgeries; however, with the opioid epidemic, I understand the caution a doctor has to take to protect his patients and his reputation. Kathy Castetter is a very kind recovery nurse and took care of a friend of mine also,who loved the communication and was picked up in a timely fashion and she had a great bedside manner. I'm waiting for my follow up with Dr. Gupta before I am discharged; however, I have several friends that used him and all had excellent experiences. I was discharged on Friday and everybody help bring me down and gather all of my belongings, made sure that I had my medications and help me into the SUV. read more

The care at West Boca Medical Center is amazing. I had to go due to Tachycardia. My heart rate sitting was 159. I was seen right away. I have bad veins. The staff trying with caution to get a line. They did on my foot. It didn't last. I meet Cheryl a PICC nurse. She put in a Midline and I was able to get my blood work and meds needed. She explained everything and was very gentle. I had my daughter here at the end of last year and I've postponed writing a review to see if my emotions on this subject dropped but I can confidently say I would never have another child here. The nurses were inattentive, needing to be reminded to give me basic Tylenol and advil 24 hours after a c section as a basic example. The only kind person I worked with was the nurse who admitted me to work me up for surgery. This was my second child via c section and I had my first at sharp in San Diego which was the best experience I could have asked for. Please choose any other hospital to have your child at. I loved my doctor, but I would have switched knowing what I know now. I write this review to help women make a better decision for their care. I truly regret not doing more research on the hospital I'd be giving birth at as I trusted my doctor to be practicing at a professional hospital. I wanted to give a shout out to the nurses & PCTs on the 3rd floor. I believe that is the surgical floor. I spent 6 days in their care & can only report the positive experience I had. They are so warm, kind, friendly, empathetic & compassionate. They work like a well oiled machine; their teamwork surpassed any I've experienced before. I was treated like it doesn't matter what I needed, nobody came. At 1:45 am I needed the anti nauseous medicine and nobody came for another almost 2 hours. I went to the nursing station and they were having a great time. When I told my nurse I pressed the button for almost an hour, she replied Oh I must of not felt it. It was a beeper how didn't she feel the vibrator??? When they brought me to the room btw, they left me in the doorwatmy for over 2 hours...nobody from the ER notified that floor that I was coming. My grandson, 17 was admitted through the emergency room to the 4th floor pediatric room. He is diagnosed with Type1 Diabetes and had dangerously high A1C levels. Everyone was efficient in their jobs, however 1 was OUTSTANDING and that is Jennifer (lead nurse) She is a gift from God. This hospital is the worst. I was left in my room for up to 4 hrs with no one coming to help me. I called for help many times and no one responded. This happened in the middle of the night. the IV I was hook up to would not reach the bathroom so I had to pull the plug out of the wall because no one would respond to my call for assistance. I came in for severe stomach pains. Everyone there was ok except Dr Sturm. After diagnostics they found an ovarian cyst and diverticula (which they did not tell me). They kicked me out with no meds or anything. I guess because I wasn't screaming and causing a scene I got no treatment. I wouldn't return if at all possible. During my mothers admission the staff below the RN's were engaging. It was the RN and above that lacked caring and sympathy. When we went to discharge from the hospital my mother went into distress and took nearly 1 1/2 hours to get the right people to come and assist her. My husband had an accident in our home and needed stitches in his nose. From the minute he entered the emergency room until he was discharged the care was fabulous. The clerks were kind, efficient and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The nurse was also kind and efficient, explaining the next steps as she went. Just an update: We left West Boca and went to Boca Regional. They were shocked and appalled that Dr. Norona did not want to be more thorough. So they did all the necessary testing. When we left West Boca, Dr. Norona said, you do not need a lumbar puncture, there is nothing wrong with you and you can go home. Well... Dr. Quack, Boca Regional not only did the lumbar puncture, but they indeed diagnosed my wife with MS, and she is thankfully being treated now. Thank God our lives to not depend on this guy. To add to all of this. Note, his own people at West Boca said to leave him a bad review. When we mentioned his name at Boca Regional, they said, oh, he was here a while back. Let's just say, thankfully he is not here anymore. I urge anyone who comes into contact with this man. DO NOT depend on his diagnosis or care. Run for the hills!!! read more

I want to say 2 nurses really took care of me without any complaints. First I want to say a nurse name Aubrie and a nurse name Djoolcy really helped me a lot. They came into my room every time I called them and made me as comfortable as I could be in that situation. They deserve 5 stars. The hospital billing person Russell who revered to himself as the "money man" way way overcharged me by over $4500.00. He definitely needs some training on billing as there was no reason other then inexperience. My 87 bed bound grandmother was left in a soiled diaper for hours then not even cleaned up properly as feces was left smeared around and she has a UTI!?! West Boca Maternity review: I'll start by saying I birthed my 2nd child here and first at Boca Regional. The comparison is the reason for my 2 stars. there is no comparison. Prior to the day of my labor, my husband, and I did a walk-through, and gave them our information so that when the day came, we didn't have to go through any paperwork. But the day that I arrived, I was told to fill out a questionnaire that was about 20 questions. I was going through active labor, 9 cm dilated and the front desk woman continued to have me fill out this questionnaire, even though I was telling I already went through protocol, and she could see I was having contractions and difficulty filling out the paperwork. That was a huge inconvenience and was the start to my very annoyed take away from this hospital. Next, was some of the nurses that wheeled me back into a room to get me started. I couldn't get onto the initial bed that they wanted to put me in prior to labor, because I was having severe contractions about to give birth, and the nurse proceeded to get annoyed with me that I couldn't adhere to certain tasks. This particular nurse got annoyed with me throughout the time that her shift ended, and finally my doctor arrived. I cannot tell you how aggravated it made me to be in active labor, 9 cm dilated, and not be able to vocalize how rude she was. Her energy made the experience even more difficult to go through, instead of understanding how to treat patients in these conditions. After all we are in a maternity hospital. Lastly, prior to my doctors arrival, I was asked numerous upon numerous questions from the nurses asking about my blood work, about whether I'm bottle feeding the baby, test results etc and they proceeded to get annoyed at me bc I wasn't able to answer them (mind you my husband was outside waiting on grandma to load our first born in the car). One nurse had said " she can't answer any questions" in a rude tone, when I was asked yet another question. I understand nurses have jobs to do but there should definitely be a level of respect and professionalism used during these times. Also, the food was bad and everyone seems like they didn't want to be working there. I am very happy for my doctor Emily Woodbury, who is the kindest, most professional, most reliable doctor I've ever come across, and together we delivered a happy, healthy baby! I will say there was one nurse who came into the room last minute and talked nicely to me, helped me breathe properly and took an out of control situation and made it controlled. I would like to commend two Nurses Meghan in the ER and Sydney on the ICU floor for their compassion, professionalism, dedication, commitment, attention to detail, VERY QUICK thinking to all my needs, their kindness, calmness, smile, they make me feel like family. Sydney was my nurse before and lastnight. Lastnight I had MAJOR complications throughout the entire night. Sydney was always one step ahead and made sure I was comfortable. Steven P. I had surgery "cervical spine surgery" for my cervical spinal stenosis." on February 19th. "Everything went well. Staff was great except one individual. His name was "Pierre". The Air conditioning in my room was not functioning correctly. When this male nurse came into my room at 6 in the morning to move me. He stated he was upset that his boss made him move me. He ran me into a door jam so hard that my nurse had to give me medication to stop the nausea and the headache that this action give me. The were compassionate and attentive, explaining each step of the treatment. I didn't get the name of the Anesthetist but he was exceptional as well. The surgical team, led by Dr. Renato Ocampo, demonstrated not only exceptional medical expertise but also genuine empathy. During my recovery, the RN's made sure I was feeling well enough to leave.
