The fish has no flavor and neither do the hush puppies. The portion size of the fish is large but greasy. Long John Silver's fried fish and hush puppies have more flavor. I dont know how anyone cannot rate this place five stars!!!! I had a combo plate with (1) fish and (4) prawns, added (4) prawns and a coleslaw. Also had two beers. I am amazed I got out for just over twenty dollars. The fish and prawns were cooked right after I ordered and were breaded with some of the best batter I have ever had. Both were super fresh and flavorful. Even the coleslaw was perfection. The house-made sauces, tarter sauce and cocktail sauce, were spot on. The place was very clean and tidy. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you even remotely like fried fish or shrimp, please give this place a try. I really wanted to try some of the scallops, clams, oysters, etc, but just couldn't fit them in. That will be next time. I WILL go back every time I am in town.... Thanks!!!!! read more

Still coming here after things reopened due to the pandemic that shall not be named! Sane sweet family going above and beyond making the best fish and chips around. Came here last Saturday around 230pm. Called ahead while we were at the Costco self check out. Ordered one 3 piece F&C and a side of fried oysters. Told 15 minutes and the order was ready on the dot. So good, not super greasy. They punch little holes in the paper bags to let the steam vent so the food doesn't get soggy. The bags are also labeled for easy distribution. I read some of these reviews that are low and I honestly think nearly all of them are for the one in Gettysburg. They're not the same owners. If you like your food greasing, go to that one. Wow! full disclosure, I have not had the fish here. I get the prawns and chicken combo. Always friendly staff, and the food has been awesome every time! This place is what you always wished long John silvers would have been, yet some how they have cheaper prices! No joke! They have all the sauces, and a wide array of delicious fried seafood that is top notch! My co workers love going here on Friday's for fish during lent, and they say it is the best! I may even try it myself next time. It really looks good..... But back to my food- prawns! Yes! Large, battered, fried, and most importantly, they ARE PROPERLY DEVEINED! Served piping hot with cocktail sauce! Man are they fantastic! The chicken- Fresh, crispy friend breast strips, with ranch to dip! I love it! And here's the kicker for me, I don't HAVE to get potatoes/fries! The fish here used to be better. I remember they used cod and the batter wasnt so heavy. Now they are serving I think Pollack and the fillets are so small and they put a ton of batter to make it look big. The fillets are shorter now too. Used to be longer when it was cod. The pieces of fish are the biggest ones I've seen. I ordered the two piece and a small clam chowder, ended up finishing the clam chowder and one fish. Horrible customer service. Tried to call in my order and couldn't get through. Showed up and told the woman I couldn't call in and she just blankly started at me and asked what I was ordering. Then rushed me. Told me a 15 min wait and it's going on 30 mins. Didn't realize there were 2 locations here. I will make it a POINT to go to the other one for now on. As shocking as this may sound, I've eaten at a lot of Fish 'n Chip places throughout the state, and this one is definitely among the best (if not THE best) I've had. Seriously, it's just as good if not better than places I've eaten at in SF, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Pismo, SLO, Cayucos, etc. The fish is fried to perfection, it's crispy yet soft at the same time- almost like a thicker tempura breading. I've had the calamari which is also excellent- can't wait to try more on the menu. The crab cakes I thought were only "ok," but then again those have never been my favorite thing to order. Prices are extremely fair. Not "stupid cheap" like 500 Club's $5 fish and chips during their happy hour or overpriced like Pismo's $14 or Yosemite Falls' $17 fish and chips- all anyone really needs is a 2 piece fish combo, which is $7.49. I've seen a lot of people comment about the campy, nautical decor... It's very simple and small inside. Not ideal for a family dinner or party- more of a quick lunch, early dinner for 2 kind of place. No tvs, so don't expect to catch the game here, either. As for the music people keep bringing up in their reviews... Those of you who played RPGs back in the Super Nintendo days- remember the music that came on when you walked into a generic sleepy little village? The ones where you had to do dumb side-quests like find grandpa's dentures or herd a flock of chickens into some idiot's tool shed? There you go. What I found odd about this place is that they said they're not affiliated with the other "West Coast Fish n Chips" in Fresno when I asked about it, which has exactly the same logo and name as this restaurant does. Wonder if it's estranged family or what the deal is there? The ONLY negative I can really say about this place is that the tartar sauce was out of this world amazing the first time I had it, and was CLEARLY homemade and very unique tasting. It had an unusual yellow tinge to it, but it was great. This last time I ate here, the tartar was a more familiar white but it also tasted more like generic tartar. Nothing wrong with it, but the tartar I had the first time is what really made the fish stand out that much more. Overall, EASILY the best fish I've ever had in the Central Valley and probably ever. Took my sisters here for their late birthdays. Food is always delicious; portions are very filling, but keep in mind that it IS fried food. Price range is probably around low teens. The wait IS quite long, but that's understandable. Worth the wait every time. Their tarter sauce is the BEST in my opinion...thick; creamy; A favorite is the clam chowder in a bread bowl. I love the inside of this little restaurant it's super peaceful and does have that beach vibe to it. So if you want seafood done right... I'd definitely recommend this place. I'm willing to give the chowder another shot because the clams were huge, not over cooked, and absolutely no sand!! Yay!! Nothing worse than crunching and the beach. The restaurant is spotless and has a very cute atmosphere!! You feel like you're in a small coastal town when inside. Owners are very accommodating and great customer service!! I'd go back!! I just came back from a day trip to Monterey and I was surprised to find a better fish and chips place right here in clovis. What I like about this place is, it doesn't have the beautiful decor or fancy looks, but the food here is amazing and generously portioned. The fish and chips were huge and perfectly cooked, crispy and not soggy, batter tasted delicious and the chips very nicely done. Served with sauce that is brought fresh as the food is served. Very good. For $10 I am very happy to find a fish and chips place that taste like it does in London England. If you are in fresno and craving fish and chips . This is the place to come.
