My laundry room was feeling more like a sauna, and I had not had my dryer vent looked at in 38 YEARS, so I'm glad I finally called West Houston Dryer Vent. The first thing the tech found was that my dryer was blowing the hot air and lint into my walls, not the vent itself (see picture). Outside, the tech found that not only did my homebuilder install the vent wrong initially, there was also a huge bird's nest behind the vent cover. The tech had to go to another call, so he arranged to return later to fix the outside issue. He (actually they) came back a few days later and worked a while, but discovered they needed a part and had to make a trip to get it, and to work another call. They came back after dark, installed what needed to be installed, and had me run the dryer to ensure that it was venting outside. It was, so now my dryer is, for the first time, properly vented. He said he looked in my duct in the attic and there was no need to clean from the vent on the roof - he did no such thing. Nothing ever works smoothly for me and dryer vent cleaning was no exception. this is the short story...Justin and Dustin could not find the exterior Vent outlet and could only clean on the inside. Later and determined to solve the mystery of no outlet my son persevered and discovered it was where we thought it was. It was so clogged with pine needles there was no air flow. I called the company back and Justin and Dustin returned within the hour, saw the problem , cleaned it out thoroughly and installed a guard so no other birds would try to make this pipe their home. The only charge today was for the guard which I asked to be installed. Horrible service. Cody came out 1 year ago or so to "clean" my dryer vent and all he did was blow all the lint into my attic. We had an AC company come do an AC check and lo and behold, the attic was full of lint. This is a major FIRE hazard caused by the half ass cleaning job they did. Now, I have to call another company to come do the job right. Our home could have caught on fire because of their negligence. I would NOT recommend this company. read more

This is my 3rd or 4th time using them. I'm a repeat customer after a dryer fire about 7 years ago. The way my townhome (and probably many new townhouses are designed these days) is designed, the laundry room is right in the middle of the house on the 2nd floor so there vent has another 20 ft to go before reaching outside. Brandon called me the morning of to let me know he was on his way. He was on time, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He went into the attic, disassembled the dryer vent and found a wire mesh that had accumulated a thick mat of lint. He removed it as it wasn't supposed to be there and we were all good. I asked about the tubing (2 years old) that connected my dryer to the vent and asked if that needed replacing. He recommended eventually replacing it with higher quality tubing but not at this time. Do not call anyone else to do your dryer vent cleaning. Just don't. This company is on time (or early), super nice people, efficient and one you need to use at least every other year or so. You may think cleaning that little lint catch all in the door of your dryer is enough. It ain't. If your dryer is taking forever, or you notice lint collecting on your vent cover outside or you can't remember the last time you had this upkeep on your home done - call him now. Joel could accommodate my schedule and had openings almost immediately. Within 30 minutes he was here and done. Cost $150 for first timers. $130 for repeat customers. A six month "call me back for free" if something goes wrong. I write a check but I believe they take credit cards too. The first time I had him out it was so packed in the lint was actually wet from the moisture being sucked into the shaft. I was about ready to replace my dryer. After a good cleaning and a replacement vent attachment to the wall, my dryer worked like a charm. The second time wasn't as bad but he got plenty of lint building up in there out. I can lord it over nearly all of you as the Domestic Goddess (yeah, I went there) since I just had my dryer vent cleaned within the last week. I noticed that my dryer was taking much longer to finish its job over the last few months and I also noted that it seemed to be more humid in the cubby-hole that the stackable unit lives in. At first, I called a chimney sweep/dryer vent service but they wanted to book me 15 days in advance: is there some kind of mass chimney sweeping going on? I thanked the lady, hung up, and found this business through Yelp. The owner (Joel Humburg) returned my call within 30 minutes and we scheduled a visit for the following week. On the day of the appointment, Joel called me a few hours ahead, said that he had a cancellation, and asked if he could move our appointment up. "Wonderful!" was my reply. Joel and I kibbitzed about many things while he worked on my dryer: the first thing discovered was that my vent pipe had become detached from the unit. Then, he brushed out the full line until he got to the exterior wall; as I watched the brush appear, it pushed out a veritable cascade of lint. Once he switched the vacuum to exhaust, it blew out even more chunks of lint. You'd think it was snowing if you didn't know better. This was my first dryer vent cleaning since I bought my unit in 2010. For all I know, a vent cleaning had never been done but now I know it is clean again. The owner of this company came out for a routine cleaning after one year and noted that it was unusual to have to clean this often and inspected the roof termination. He noted that we had the wrong dryer vent termination on the roof and it was clogged. He sent a pic. He recommended getting proper one done by a roofer and said prob would not need a cleaning for five years. It was one of the only companies to quote a price over the phone. I thought I needed 2 dryer vents cleaned, after getting some bad information from an appliance repair company. In reality, I did not either one cleaned. I just needed an improperly installed dryer vent screen up in the roof vent removed. I asked if I should go ahead and clean anyway, and rhey told me it was unnecessary. He asked me some questions on the phone and told me that it would be better if the roofer took a look at the vent opening, as it wasn't coming from the vent itself. I am very impressed with this company after my experience today. I'm in a brand new house (1year old) with a new dryer that we bought when we bought the house. We were having a problem with the dryer, it was taking 2-3 hours to dry our clothes, and after having the warranty people come and tell us that nothing was wrong with the dryer and that we probably needed our vents cleaned I called West Houston Dryer Vent Cleaning. I was convinced that we didn't need our vents cleaned after just one year but the warranty people wouldn't do anything else until we had the vents cleaned. I called on a Friday and Joel (owner) answered and explained it could be a number of things causing the problem and said that an inspection was free and that he could come out that afternoon! Monday was more convenient for me and so he came today to check it out. He was very friendly, honest, and really knowledgeable about the dryer vent cleaning industry. It did not take long at all for him to discover that the screen (that new builders place now a days to prevent bird nesting at the vent opening on the outside of the house) was clogged with lint and that it caused a back up of lint in our vents. He removed the bad screen and replaced it with a special rodent blocker that could breath/vent better, and then thoroughly cleaned the vents. He didn't try to sell me on a bunch of stuff, which I appreciate, and I truly trusted what he was telling me. He was even honest enough to tell me that they didn't install the necessary "coupling" that they should have when originally installing our dryer and went ahead and placed one for us at no cost. However, he did provide a temporary fix by repairing the hose with metal tape which the cat had clawed in a couple of places. They came by with a few days notice and found that the builder had left a screen on in the vent that was building lint and preventing proper ventilation from the dryer.
